It came with a controller ,and in general it performs very good , some small scratches but it doesn’t affect the functio
This has been a great purchase, certainly worth the money for the number of hours of use I’ve got out of it. Now over a year later it has a tendency to beep as though someone is holding down the eject button constantly, even when it’s turned off! But it still works otherwise and for a second-hand machine I’m happy
I bought this so I could play games with my 4 year old grandson, and it has been a big hit. He now has the dimensions package , although it’s a bit strange seeing Homer Simpson and Batman in the same game.
Great and all but since it’s the original ps4 it’s can will break after about 2 years I can guarantee that and it will overheat and melt it’s happened to my brother cousin and mate. I’m now the wonderful owner of a ps4 slim which is much quieter and won’t break on me.
I bought this used, the console itself works perfectly as does the controller however the share button does not work on the controller. It was stated there were only a few minor scratches on the controller. It’s always beneficial to double check with a used seller about these kind of things before purchasing. But overall i’m happy with my purchase.
Bought as a present for somebody. This was the PlayStation 4 Sim and not the normal one as advertised. It does get hot and makes whirring noises but it works fine and was set up promptly if you know which wires go where. Delivery was quick, even for near the Christmas period when delivery is usually a big issue so that was good. Probably would buy again if needed.
Instead of upgrading my aging PC I bought this. Partly because I also wanted to play Bloodbourne.
I think this is a very good piece of gear and it does what you’d expect it to do. I was worried about the controllers, because I love the XBOX controller (from using it on my old PC), but these controllers are also very nice and almost as comfy as the XBOX ones.
Lovely console, definetly better than xbox one! Reasonably quiet. Loads fast. However, small storage space – Ive only used about 8 games (all of which except 1 are saved on disks) and Ive already run out of space. Get the 1TB if you ca
Was very exited to but the ps4, very good graphics, when you play you get so much into that you can spend hours without even realizing where the day is gone. Great Console.
If you’re looking for a PS4 then chances are you’ve already decided to buy one. It’s a fantastic console and I’m in love with the controller, so much more comfortable than my XBOX One controller (personal preference obviously). As you’ve probably already got your mind made up, I’ll just leave a few tips here.
1. Create a few PSN accounts for various countries. Sometimes, a demo or deal will be released which is region specific, and it’s nearly always the case that that region ISN’T the UK. As such, having a Japanese or American PSN account comes in handy more often than you’d think.
2. If you want to play a game on Friday, launch it on Wednesday. Seriously, nothing winds me up more about modern gaming than the massive installs and day 1 patches that we need to play a game. If there’s something you want to play, launch it before you want to play it so that installs and patches all get done in advance.
3. ONLY BUY FROM PSN STORE DURING SALES. This is probably a no-brainer, but the PSN store is almost always the most expensive place to buy games. Get a physical copy off Amazon and I reckon you’ll probably save at least 10 per game on average.
So there you go, great console with some great exclusives and a fantastic controller. Win!
I ordered this product mainly because of its already excellent reviews.
It came very quickly and in perfect condition!
This is my first proper console and I was very worried about buying something so expensive but it was definitely with it and I now use it daily with no problems whatsoever.
Good console but get a bigger hard drive before you even start playing games. I have like 6 games and ive used 400gb already (i think it installs the full game and the disk is just like a password) Also even if you have great internet, games and updates still take hours to download because of the cap sony puts on them. Other than that its a fairly decent console, able to run the likes of RainbowSix Siege at 1080p 60fps (in online matches anyway). I also think the jet black version is slightly quieter and cooler than the shiny black one. ( i still keep it raised off the table a bit so the airflow is good) I suffer form game crashes too, when things get really hectic, but thankfully this has only happened a few times. Other features I really like are: the new controller, the built in capture software, the modern user interface and the look of the console itself.
I wanted to upgrade from PS3 to PS4 for ages and I’m not disappointed. Love playing on this console, the graphics are mind blowing. Setting up is easy and it’s very quiet. It’s the newest model which is the power saving one. Sony have done a fantastic job yet again, I’ve had all previous consoles by Sony over the years and all have been very good when I used them from my childhood-present. Very happy gamer, thanks Amazon!
Great console, and the C chassis is much more quieter than the previous PS4 I had (original model).
Coming from a PS3, the games are quite different, in term of graphics.
However, I don’t like the fact that any game I try requires gigabytes of data to be downloaded first. Once game (Doom) required a 20GB download before I could play! It’s to wonder what exactly is present on the disc.
Even people with fibre broadband will have to wait a while…
To resolve this partially, and compared to the PS3, Sony has introduced a power saving mode, where the console is silent and drawing a lot less power, but still downloading updates and charging controllers…
Not much point reviewing a PS4 as there are hundreds of detailed professional reviews on the internet.
I am very happy with it, the OS has improved a lot since the previous generations in many ways. I like how you can update the games and OS on the fly and continue to play a game while it is doing it.
Playstaion 4! What more can you say? A great gaming console that follows the Sony tradition of excellence. If you are a gamer then this is the system for you. Added bonus is that it also plays Blu-Ray DVD’s so you don’t need a separate DVD player. Only downside is that it wont play gaes from older playstations, but this is a standard across the whole gaming console world.
If you want a gaming console, then forget the rest cos this is the best!
Good console, decided on this over the Xbox due to the availability of certain games. Being replaced by a newer model soon however so may be worth waiting for that to come out.
Bought this after Windows 10 ate my high spec Alienware gaming PC and I bought an iMac. So I have given up PC type gaming and have gone back to console. Didn’t want an Xbox as I refuse to give Microsoft any more of my money. Even cancelled the kids Xbox 360 Live account!!! As a gaming machine it is faultless. Have also used it to stream Amazon Prime so it’s a great all rounder. Just had the new firmware update and it’s pretty awesome. Love the controller too. I charge my controller via a usb socket in the kitchen as it’s faster than via the PS4 but you can use a phone charger too. Comes with the charging lead as well, so no more rechargeable batteries required. I would get the slim over this as it is a bit bulky, but it sits next to my almost defunct 3d blue ray dvd player and as such size doesn’t matter. If you are sat on the fence over this or an Xbox One I’d say get this. It really is ‘for the players’.
I chose the XBOX ONE over this when the new generation of gaming consoles were being released. Although the XBOX ONE is a great console, the PS4 is way better in my opinion. The reason I say this is because the XBOX ONE is a multi media platform which can be suitable for a family. However if you are primarily wanting to play video games, then the PS4 is the correct pick. Most of the applications that come pre-installed on the XBOX ONE will most likely never be used if you are primarily gaming on it and these apps will take up some space (implying that there will be less-space on the hard drive for anything else).
The PS4 focuses heavily on the gaming aspect of the console. Which means other entertainment applications won’t be thrown in your face every time you go onto the dashboard (unlike the XBONE).
Personally I think the Playstation 4 is the best pick to go for if you want to primarily play video games. If you are looking for a multi media entertainment system that offers a massive range of TV and film apps then go for XBOX ONE.
Ps. I think that the exclusives are better.
This PS4 is the BEST console on the market at present, but with Sony about to introduce a completely new system very soon I wonder how long this machine will be the best. It remains to be seen whether the new console will be backward compatible with the PS4 games etc etc. I hope so otherwise people who have just bought this console will be miffed beyond compare.
Having skipped the PS3 due to owning a Xbox 360 I was unsure whether to go for Xbox One or PS4. If you have the same dilemma then I would say it is going to be down to which kind of games you want namely exclusives. I was personally fed up with shooters at this point having played all the |Halo and Gears games. The PS4 appealed to me more. Last of Us & Uncharted swayed me to PS4. Am extremely happy with my choice and glad to own a PlayStation again but this is not to say Xbox is bad. Silly but my main concern was with the controller as Microsoft’s was so comfortable and I n=never really liked the PS2 controller. However I was pleasantly surprised as the PS4 controllers are really excellent and being able to simply charge them is pure simplistic genius on behalf of Sony.
Ordered from Amazon with the usual excellent service they provide.
What is there not to like about this piece if technology. Sleek and modern in appearance, hand controller ergonomically comfortable.
It’s not complicated, user friendly ( even for a Grandma!) and the instructions easy to follow.
Can be used for many forms of entertainment including, ( the obvious) gaming, tv catch up, watching dvd’s internet browsing plus many others.
Would definitely recommend it.
The PS4 is great, I recommend the last of us and the Nathan Drake collection. The PS4s got amazing graphics and the duel shock 4 sit really well in the hand. Delivery was quick the only thing that was bad was that the courier throw the box over the garden fence while I was in the garden! I was a little annoyed at this but nothing was broken. In all I recommend getting this.
Best Purchase this year by far – was given an xbox 360 a while back, it was okay, just hated the lack of user experience and incompatabilty. Now I have taken the step over to the other side and an loving the user experience, the interface is so easy to use, everything is where it should be. The graphics far out way that of the xbox (in my opinion) and the plug and play aspect is awesome, most items plug in and just play no setup needed. My Tritton headset worked right out of the box, all manor of usb devices just work (unlike on the xbox). There is still the multiplayer subscription fee however it was inevitable sony would go down this road like microsoft. You do however get more for your buck on the sony PSN store than on the xbox live store. The model I bought was the Chasis C type, very nice Jet Black. The only gripe is the very short controller charger cable, sorted with a usb extension cable I found lying around. All round great console, small compact, very powerfull, like buying a high end gaming PC without the price tag.
Set up was easy enough, took a while for the updates but that is ok.
Have had an issue where the console for some reason turned it self off and wouldn’t turn on again. If happens again will ask about replacement as it was 3 weeks old at the time.
The Playstation 4 does not disappoint! First of all I’m not a Playstation fan boy, I’m not even a fan of Sony. The PC has always been my main platform for gaming and although I’ve had the PS, PS2, most of the Nintendo consoles and an XBox 360 I’ve always felt at home on the PC. But I can’t fault the Playstation 4, I only really bought it to play 3 games (The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls and Until Dawn) and also to play Blu-ray content as I was building a small collection of my all time favourite films.
As a gaming machine it’s great, the controller is comfy and easy to use, but what really surprised me wasn’t just the gaming capability but the media centre feel to it. The ability to navigate easily through menu’s to play music, watch films, Netflix and browse the Web is excellent. People say the PS3 UI was better more fluid and easier to navigate but never owning one I can’t find anything wrong with the PS4’s UI.
The Playstation 4 is a solid gaming and media machine at a very reasonable price. I’m very happy with mine and can’t find fault so far, well if I’m to nitpick I’d say they all should ship with nothing less that 1TB hard drive as 500GB is minuscule in today’s gaming with each game taking up to 40-60GB of space. But honestly doesn’t bother me the drive is easily upgradeable and I’m planning soon to put a 2TB drive in it.
I am not a PS4 fanboy. I am PC master race. My graphics cards alone cost 4 of these consoles. I also have to own an Xbox. I say this so that you know when I talk about the PS4 that I am someone that appreciates graphics and smooth gameplay. And that I defiantly have more money than sense.
Firstly I owned the Xbox. I was so disappointed. I have almost nothing good to say about it other than you can play with friends that have one. Which is the only reason I still have one. The PS4 I bought when a friend of mine wanted to play an exclusive game on it. And it came with a few other games. These games I had in the Xbox. I was shocked at the difference in quality of gameplay. Games seemed to both run and look better. But mostly run smoother. It just made games so much easier to play and for me more fun.
I constantly hear people saying you can’t tell the difference between the consoles. And maybe most people can’t. But after playing both I can honestly say the PS4 is better if you value smooth gameplay and slightly better graphics. Unfortunately none of my friends have one so I’m buying online games for the Xbox and the PS4 collects dust.
For the single player games this is the console for you. At this price with a game it’s such good value. Everything is included with the console and it’s much faster to start up and get in a game than the Xbox. The size is surprisingly small as well and I feel the build quality is better. But I’d not really include that as a reason to buy it over the Xbox
Oh and the controllers are rechargeable. A nice touch
What can one say, it’s a PS4! Graphics are good, not too big and bulky, lots of connection ports and very easy to set up and use.
If it has a down side for me it’s in the initial speed of loading each game. If you ever used a tape on a Sinclair Spectrum to load a game then this is slower than that!!!! I must stress though this this is just the first time one loads a game to play. Any subsequent plays of the game give pretty fast loading, not instantaneous, but fast. I mention this because as a newbie to Playstations I assumed that one stuck the disk in and away it went, not so, COD took so long I though the machine was broken and had to get my nephew to come over to sort!. He has a PS4 and an Xbox One and he says that the PS4 has slightly better graphics but honestly having seen them both inaction at his place I can’t say I could tell.
ewer ps4 is great weighs pound less than original, far less fan noise (or should i say none as fan is whisper quiet like having mouse inside ps4) and is also far less power hungry (energy efficient) 🙂 anyone who has the older version or is thinking of buying the newer ps4 i would say categorically yes such an improvement 🙂
Pretty much okay, very fast shipping, quality is perfect.
I would gave 5/5 but ps4 controller was not working, they send replacement pretty much late and i lost 1,5 week on holidays, but they really tried to help me. I received 1TB console instead 500GB but i am aint even mad :).
Arrived quickly and well packaged.
My daughter bought this as a present for herself.
She loves it and likes that she can also watch the likes of netflix on it as well as play games.
My son is a bit miffed at the fact that this one has been slightly improved on than his version that I bought him the previous yr..
But to be fair both of them have had hours of enjoyment from these console be it from games or tv..
I’ve been playing nothing but Nintendo since I was younger and I wanted a change in games, so I got myself a PS4 (the newer model) and I am very satisfied with what I got!
The games looks amazing with the enhanced graphics (I got my system along with Knack, Mortal Kombat X and Guitar Hero Live) and they play very nicely.
If you’re looking into gaming for a new hobby, going from Xbox or even just for something to have in the living room, I would highly recommend this product!
The matt finish is lovely. No scratches to be seen here. The unit is compact & silent. The new Operating System lets you switch in and out games seamlessly (so checking messages takes seconds). My old PS3 would exit the game to re-enter the PS dashboard every time and then needed to reload the game afresh when you wanted to return to it. Yawn. PS4 has overcome this. The headphones jack on the controller is genius. I have purchased a fairly descent pair of headphones (20 odd) with a mic, in readiness for Battlefront (Nov 2015) and instantly benefited from surround sound quality audio. I never play without the headphones on now, put it that way. The resolution is 1080p – better than the competition. Games looks great. I love the way that some games use the speaker in the mic to bring the sound from the TV to the controller (when the headphones are unplugged, of course). Netflix/Amazon Instant Video/iPlayer all work really well too. I seem to have bagged a bargain with my PS4 CUH-1216a PS4. The price dropped to 249 (from Amazon) as I was about to purchase it for 299 (from 3rd party seller), so I was happy with that. Watch the prices. They do fluctuate. The truth is that I was happy to pay 299 for it, and I still would now after 2 months of owning the console. Highly recommend this and Amazon’s prices are hard to fault. Go for it!
I’m already a huge PlayStation fan and decided to finally upgrade when the price dropped. It was time to upgrade from the PS3 to PS4. The console design on the latest chassis is really nice, I wasn’t expecting the unit to be this small. I prefer the all matt finish, the device is quiet, even with the Blu ray drive running it not too noisy. Can’t seem to see any network/HD indicator status lights, I’m not sure if these have been removed. The unit comes supplied with 1 x controller, mono headphone/mic and all the necessary cables required to connect. I have played a few games and also downloaded games from the PlayStation store, graphically games and sound is great, but as always it depends on the game developer. The console is a powerful beast. Sony finally managed to put on the media features that so many PS3 owners took for granted. You can stream, and playback media from usb devices. For the social media fanatic there is so much stuff integrated, the controller is brilliant, has a headphone jack, built in speaker, touch-pad and light bar and vibration. Light bar can be dimmed but not switched off,and one of the drawbacks is that the battery life of the controller is not as good as the old PS3 dual shock controller. All in all, a great gaming console with enough media features, go buy one!
Bought this new model since my old model stopped working.
New model lasted less than 24 hours before suddenly making a loud popping sound and smoke then coming out of the back. After that the console was just dead. The worst thing is, I was playing Metal Gear at the time the console blew which resulted in the game disc being lost and me not being able to remove it because the manual eject screw has been removed from this particular model.
On the phone to Amazon they were helpful and happily replaced the console free of charge. But they refused to replace the game disc because I bought that from a seperate retailer, therefore resulting in me losing my copy of Metal Gear Solid and having to fork out for another copy. Yes, I could have bought the game digitally so I could download it again later on my account, but I like the physical copies. Must be because I like that new game smell.
Anyway I received the second new model the following day which has been perfect so far. It’s been roughly a week with no issues and the console is as good as the previous edition. It’s quieter, lighter and more energy efficient. Also the new model now has mechanical power and eject buttons instead of the old touch sensitive ones which do feel cheap and tacky but are better because you don’t accidentally eject a game or power off the PS4 anymore. The rear of the console has been rearranged with some of the ports moved around, usb ports, hdmi and etc. The chipset has been revised to be more efficient and it also now uses a simpler blu ray reader. The hard drive bay has been altered. And finally the biggest noticeable change is the hard drive cover which is now a full matte black finish instead of the old shiny finish which gives the system a nicer look, personal preference speaking there though. The software is still the same as previously so no change there. The 3.0 update coming soon should make it better, but the PS4 is still missing many fan requested features and key functionalities that even the PS3 had years ago. Hopefully Sony can change some things eventually.
Overall, a great console but still lacking in games and in time that will change. It’s worth buying but yes beware because there are some faulty models about. Should be ok though because I more than likely just received a dodgy one and Amazon will replace it anyway.
For those reasons it gets 4 stars from me. Thanks for reading and have a good one.
Most people looking at this are probably wondering what the “C Chassis” in the product name means. It means this is the new (July 2015) model, CUH-1216. Mine arrived today (bought direct, sold by Amazon) and I can confirm it is the new model. It’s a bit lighter, quieter and more energy efficient than the initial models, doesn’t have the shiny black hard drive cover (this one is just regular matte black) and it has actual push buttons for on/off and eject. You are unlikely to notice any actual in game performance differences but the machine might be a bit more reliable given Sony have had 2 years to tweak different parts so if that’s a concern, and it usually is with the first iterations of a new console generation, then go for this over the older models. Of course, only time can tell on that front.
As for the PS4 platform as a whole it’s great. The new controller is a huge improvement, the games are sure to be great although I feel developers are only just really starting to push beyond what could be achieved in the PS3.
his is the new revision ps4, The new PS4 is model CUH-1216a, and there are three significant changes to the hardware. The first is an 8% power saving when in use compared to the existing model. The second is a 10% reduction in the weight of the console. And the third, and most noticeable change, is the hard drive cover section of the casing. It now matches the matte finish of the rest of the case . this thing looks tiny, especially when next to the mammoth xbox one . the console is a lot quieter than the old model but you can still hear the disc spinning up when you insert a disk, but this is normal, i was playing outlast and rosegun and the console was near silent, the console does get warm during use especially on the top on the right hand side, i measured the heat with a temperature gun and it was around 110f and that was after 6 hours of non stop gaming playing outlast from the hdd . i have not had chance to test the noise properly during disk based games i have only installed the games so far, so it will be interesting to see what the noise is like and the heat output of the console will be. i will update this review soon with the extra info but so far its very impressive . delivery from this seller was spot on, i chose next day delivery
