The SRS-XB43 uses a USB Type-C charging cable and port.
Does the speaker play both horizontally and vertically?
Yes. The SRS-XB43 works either standing up or on its side.
Can you control the lighting?
Yes. You can control the SRS-XB43’s lights using Music Centre or the Fiestable app. If you prefer to have no lights, you can turn them off.

I got sent the small speaker instead inside the big box but even for that small speaker the sound was amazing. I was really impressed!

This was a replacement for a Bose portable speaker that went wrong in warranty. I decided to try a different make after speaking to an Amazon rep. I am so glad I did. The sound quality is great. It hasn’t lost Bluetooth connectivity since I bought it several months ago. The lights are great if you like that kind of thing, but I prefer without. Easy to turn off in the Sony app. The only downside is portability; it is quite heavy. I move it easily enough from room to room, however as the design wouldn’t allow for a handle on the unit itself, a carry case with handle would be beneficial, then I would be happier to take it away with me on a staycation. The battery life seems great. I would definitely recommend this product.
I got a pair of these a few weeks ago and I’m surprised how good they are. The Bluetooth connection and the stereo pairing link are really easy to set up and work well and the battery life is good. As they 9connect the speakers tell you which is left and which is right which is a nice touch.. What I would say is that, if yo9u are thinking about getting one of these speakers, I would recommend that you do get two just because t would be a shame not to have the stereo facilities.
This is as close as I’ve got to a compact Bluetooth unit which challenges my hi-fi for sound quality. The top end is crisp and the bass is rich and powerful. Very good definition. It weighs like a house brick, but that’s because it’s packed with speakers in a solid case. The sound changes according to where you’re positioned in relation to it, so up close the bass is less obvious, but step back and it balances out.
I don’t bother with the lights or the app, just pair it to my Fire tablet and away. Control volume from the tablet, instant link up every time I switch it on.
I’m delighted. For portability and small spaces I still use my Bose Soundlink, but for filling the room I choose the Sony. Great value, great sound.
Very good sound quality doesn’t sound tinny at all, easily fits into my rucksack when going out, various modes for lights when you download the app, I have now bought 2 of these so I can use in multi room, excellent battery life especially if you don’t use the lights
What can say but brilliant you have DJ mode you can make extra sounds like horns crowd chairing and other things the live makes it sound more full the bass is just perfect and some people say it doesn’t go loud enough I can say it does perfect for all your needs just get it you won’t be disappointed the quality of the sound is beginning
I purchased this speaker to replace my Bose mini as the battery had stopped charging and it’s not a simple procedure to replace the battery. Although the Sony is quite a bit larger than the Bose the sound is just as good and I’m really pleased with it. As I said it’s quite large but that’s not a problem.
It has good Sound and bass but the lighting system really brings this bluetooth speaker together to make it awesome the only down side is the lighting system uses a lot of the power unfortunately but still a great buy though.
I bought this speaker for my 5x4m summer house and it fills it with sound no problem and the sound is quality.

a portable will not compare. This speaker is a very good effort from Sony, excellent mid bass,mid range and treble. Really powerful undistorted output, heavy but very good.
I’ve had the xb31 speaker for some time wanted something new so I got the xb43, the sound is much clear, very good bass, very good battery and has more features put in as well compared to the xb31. As for the portability the xb43 is a lot more heavier then xb31, the xb43 is almost 3 times the size of xb31 and weights the same as holding 3 xb31 but overall the quality of the xb43 is a lot better and I would recommend it if you want to try something differe
Excellent portable speaker. If you like bass, this speaker has plenty. Sound is great. Weight is on the heavier side, but solid build.
This was a Christmas Present. It is an excellent product the owner is delighted with all its features. We would recommend this to other purchasers excellent choice.

It connect easily to your Bluetooth devices, like smartphone,TV and more. Battery life is ok around 3 days depending how long you use it. Very happy with my Sony portable SRS XB43. Best speaker on the market. You can download the and do so much more.
A bit heavier than the Sony SRS-XB33 which I also have and XXXXTRA IMPRESSED with. Sound and bass are excellent. battery life brilliant and over all sound and build very nice. Oh ps Sand and water proof with Dr common sense.

Sound is outstanding, love the two apps and all of their features, the DJ control and LED customization aspect is hands down top shelf.
The speaker is pretty hefty and bigger than expected but it is still pretty portable just do not recommend carrying by hand. The only downside is that there is no handle which would make this speaker op!
The product was alot bigger than I expected but still easily portable in a barge bag. It was alot louder then expected and the sound quality was what better then expected. The battery has never run out on me whilst using it.
I had the previous speaker (XB 41) and I thought it was perfect. This new XB 43 its way louder that the XB 41 but I think regarding to the bass is almost the same or just a bit stronger.
Love this. I’ve connected it to my record player Using the blue tooth. Can also connect to the radio, iPhone The sound quality is superb and with the lights flashing in sync with the music It really looks fantastic .
I love my sounds and am never without some form of audio accompaniment.
Recently, my ageing stereo I used downstairs stopped working and I almost replaced it with a beautiful Roberts system. But I then thought, where do I actually source my sound. I like radio (BBC radio 4 and 2 and also stations from around the world), I use You Tube, Soundcloud, Spotify and have many browser bookmarks for extended mixes.
So, do I now buy an “internet” radio, or a smart speaker, sonos, alexa…?
Well, I thought the answer would be to use my (portable) tablet PC to source all I need and buy a Bluetooth speaker to go with it.
And by God, I’m so glad I gave this some thought, because the speaker is fantastic!
The depth and accuracy of the sound quality has exceeded all of my expectations and it sounds great in my home gym.
It has various lights that flash in time to whatever is playing, and so before buying, I made damn sure they could be disabled (I’m 58 years old, after all).
However, after trying the speaker with the lights on, it turns out I really like them. They can be set to different colours and options. For example, at night in bed when I’m listening to Chill Radio, the speaker casts a cool, slow, pulsating blue that plays on the walls. In the gym, dance music with flashing lights. It just seems to bring the sound to life and really affects mood at a time when we need to feel positive in this important respect.
I live alone and don’t mind admitting that this little baby has brightened up my home.
It also talks to me to let me know when it’s connected and tells me how much charge it has left.
There are 3 basic settings:
Stamina mode (No bass) Good to save your battery or for when you don’t want to blow your neighbours washing off the line
Extra bass (Yes, it’s all there)
Extra bass and live effect. Great for music if you want that live feel
There is also an optional Sony app to control the speaker, but Android 5 on my 6-year-old tablet PC (Lenovo Yoga) wouldn’t work the app.
Yes, you’ve guessed it, I used this as an excuse to upgrade/ update my tablet; this might give you an idea of how much I like this speaker.
Just 4 stars for portability due to it’s heavy weight; personally, I like the weight as I’m sure it goes towards the depth of the sound.
This speaker is ideal for anyone who wants to bring any bluetooth enabled device to life and who appreciates the difference between the tinny sound of poor quality compared to the the deep, rich, realistic sound of Sony.
I paid more than I thought I would need to here, but this speaker is still good value because it performs so well; do we want a speaker for half the price, but is only half as good?

Exceed expectations, bass reproduction is surprising considering the size of the box and drivers. Battery life is great, is a bit on the heavy side for a portable speaker but is makes up for it in sound quality and ability to achieve the lower frequency range.
Wow. Serious oomph from this speaker. Better sound than my wired Bose speaker. Plenty of bass with ability to adjust via app.
Great for the garden as it is completely waterproof.
Integrated lights are fun and can be deactivated.
Not sure you can beat Sony for sound.
Worth the investme
The build quality is good and the quality of the audio is also good. My only gripe is that the volume does not go high enough. My cousin’s smaller Ultimate Ears portable speaker manages to pump out much louder sounds.
It’s nice a heavy weight, and looks good. It’s powerful, and sounds high quality.
But I wish there was an option for changing the bass, as it’s so powerful that even on quiet settings it can disturb neighbours, so not so good for house shares etc.
I am satisfied with the sound quality and the bass.
I bought a cable and I connected with my Philipps TV.
I also like the game of colours once the music starts.
