I usually get a good result with Sony (unless there’s software involved) so this was a good one. A bit bigger than I thought but OK.
This Sony Bluetooth speaker is easy to set up and sounds good, the good thing is the the charger goes straight into the battery which makes it easy to charge. I am very happy with is item.
Sony SRS-XE300 – Portable wireless Bluetooth speaker with wide sound is one speaker I would happily recommend to anyone who likes to carry their sounds outside the house, no matter where you want to listen to clear sounds this speaker will work for you.
I love the look and feel of the speaker as it will look good in any home. The fact it is small yet sleek therefore takes up little room yet provides good clear sounds which can reach as high as you can allow yourself as this is a speaker which has power.
A first class speaker which is used daily in this household, happy to recommend.
Loving this XE300 by Sony. Weighty, solid, good meaty volume, sound quality very satisfactory, good app to fine tune it and easy built-in speaker software updating. Pairing very straightforward. Battery life is insane. Used in a large hall and plenty loud enough. Recommended.
Given as a gift , recipient very happy , earnt me many Brownie Points .
The sound quality is very crisp and smooth. Decent bass boom if you want and the battery life is amazing, I charge it up every few weeks and use it most days. Sleep design, it is bigger than it looks on the advert and weighs a good amount. All made up for in quality
I wanted to have a speaker to be used inside the home. This sony product is reasonably priced, very good quality. So very pleased. Hope it will be durable.
The little speaker is impressive. At only 20cm tall and 9cm wide it’s ultra-portable and the sound is pretty decent too, especially for a single mini speaker. I was able to Bluetooth my phone to the speaker instantly and have had no connection drops at all.
The speaker is dust and rainproof and can withstand being in water for up to one metre, again very impressive and perfect for the beach, garden, park or to take on holiday.
Battery life has been excellent, and a quick ten-minute charge will give you over an hour with Sony claiming up to 16 hours on a full charge, I haven’t tested this but it easily lasted any get-togethers we’ve had.
The portable speaker also supports party connect, which means you can connect and stream audio over multiple Sony devices if you have any as long as they all support Party Connect.
For a small single speaker, this packs a punch. It does get a little distorted right at the maximum volume, but you don’t need it that high, it’s easily loud enough at less than max. I love it and use it all the time.
Thank you for reading my review, I hope you found it helpful.
Honestly, this is one of three best Bluetooth speakers in ever heard. However, I’ve noticed that some of the other reviews are quite negative, which leads me to believe that there is a consistency issue with the manufacturing. There’s no way some of those negative reviews are listening to the same thing I am.
On mine, not only is the sound crisp and clear, the bad is full to the point of being meaty. I can hear individual instruments and tracks, and the bass hits my guts from across the room. If that isn’t your experience, you got a dud.
On top of great sound, the battery life is great and the Bluetooth connectivity is easy and robust.
Part of why it can provide that sound, is because it’s quite large for a Bluetooth speaker. This of course means it takes up more room in a backpack, but it is still easy enough to carry around.
I haven’t tested how water resistant it is, so I can’t comment on that.
At the time of this review, this is selling for 129, which I think is pretty reasonable for what I got. I can understand being unhappy if you get a dud.
I love the sound quality of a Sony, from the old separates to headphones, you cannot go wrong. The Bass Boost gives a similar quality to much more expensive equipment, and the sound quality isn’t lost as you up the volume. I live in a flat so didn’t want to upset the neighbours but wanted to listen to music that had a good quality that you cannot find in the smaller portable speakers. This is a perfect mid-sized option, looks classy, is well built and did not disappoint.
I bought this at 129 during the Black Friday event and so far am impressed . The sound is decently loud and very good for a standard living rooms even if that means combination of two such rooms . The speaker doesn’t perform well at max sound for songs high in bass sounds but if one keeps 1-2 notches below the max sound , things play really well . Can’t fault the looks and is great and truly a Sony product of quality . I will revert if battery life degrades , for now I did perform a full charge and haven’t played for long hours to comment on battery life . For now I am relying on the brand Sony , in addition Amazon , as my sellers are without a 2nd thought amazing to handle any issues wrt to the products . I never had any problems . Strongly recommended to those looking to buy in this range which covers a descent spec also from Harman( JbL range) .
its a quite heavy unit but the sound quality and battery life are great. amazon delivery in getting this product was terrible due to useless drivers, but no complaints about the produc
Had this run in for about 20 hours now with new firmware update. Very impressed with the sound and the power that this things delivers. I use it in the work van while delivering parcels. Sounds at its best in good size room though. The only thing I wish was the soundstage was a bit wider. But apart from that it’s the best buy I’ve made in a long time
These speakers from sunny good quality and have a clear sound. They are portable and not very lightweight but not too heavy either. It is an interesting design with this speaker and I am don’t know for sure if it is the best. Think I have different harder speakers that offer sound that seems to whole better than this. So to me it is a bit confusing and frustrating. Because they are quite expensive and you’d expect a bit more from them.
They connect to each other through an app and that is a bit of an inconvenience because sometimes the connection is not very stable and you end up with one of them not working properly.
What I like about it though is that the power on button has to be pressed just ones and short in order to turn it on or off which is great. The outer material is nice and pleasant touch but in the same time it is a bit easier to collect prints if you are dirty.
So if you are looking for a portable speaker that you can take everywhere with you this is a good option. Battery life is good and I like that there is a battery button that would let you know how much battery is left.
Pro: both sound quality and output is great, with all effects of is capable of some high fidelity sounds
It’s smooth and creamy and quite transparent in the mid/treble and a little rolled off. Bass bangs
Party mode is a party in a box you even have a light show
Con: maybe a little to rolled of in treble, can be boomy
So this speaker has it’s pluses and minuses:
– It can really pump out the decibels when called upon, and produces good volume for the size. The sound was distortion-free even when turned way up, which is something that surprised me.
– The case seems pretty rugged and the rubberized surface is easy to grip.
– As others have observed, it is definately bass heavy and too subdued in the midrange. But I found that the equalizer on my Android phone can help a lot with that and have it produce a fairly decent sound. I’ve made it decent sounding with classical, rock, acoustic, and pop music.
– The EQ from the free app is nowhere near as useful, and there are a number of codecs it doesn’t support (but other players can send it to the speaker just fine)
– The speaker phone function works right off, and I’m happy to see that is supports multiple headphone/headset profiles so it is compatible with things like WhatsApp as well as the standard phone app
– It’s a hefty unit, not too heavy to carry around, but heavier than some other units that don’t need as much tuning to sound good.
So for the price, it isn’t a bad unit, and frankly sounds better than my car stereo. I know of better sounding speakers but they cost almost 50% more, so if you’re shopping around this price point it’s a decent choice.
The device is really good but a little bit bigger than expected (haven’t checked the dimensions prior to buying). I had a problem with the shipping but Amazon handled it better than I expected.
This is the black version. I have had for such a long time my JBL flip 3 that I got used to a good quality sound so everytime I got another ones (different brands) and it was a bit disappointing.
Sony is a very impressive brand which has plenty of experience. I love Sony and its products.
In this case I would say good and bad about this speaker from Sony.
Good:
-Colors are good choice but maybe a bit simple for some people.
-Materials are the best. Well finished, rubbery feeling which I love and kinda metal net.
-Volume and clear sound are probably its best quality.
-Easy to connect many of them, I think it is up to 100. I’ve got just 3 so this is what I can talk about. They connect to each other using Sony music center app.
-Battery life
-Simplicity
-Waterproof for up to 30 min and 1 meter deep and dustproof
Bad:
-Portable but might be big for certain things. It’s heavy to have it on your hands for s long time.
-Sound is very stable, strong and clear but bass is not the best. Needs to improve.
-You need app to play them all together and the app can be a bit annoying.
-No party lights
-Sound is clearly directed to the center and sides.
Overall I recommend it so much but for regular use. Not professional use.
This Sony Bluetooth speaker has a solid sound coming out of it for the size.
It is an upright tubular shape and is meant to be waterproof.
This connected to my phone very easily and the bass gave a pleasing rumble to my music. It may be a little too bass heavy, but most speakers are these days.
It is ideal to move around the house or out in the garden if you want to take your music with you or have it on in the background, as the size makes it easy to pick up and move.
It has ample battery life, although less than some other speakers I own, even by Sony.
The sound on this is very impressive and this would be great for a kids bedroom or spare kitchen speaker etc. It feels well made and sturdy and should provide plenty of musical enjoyment.
It’s a typical Sony Speaker, solid and well built with an excellent finish. It has heft, not something you might want to lug around in a backpack but it does have pretty good battery life of up to 24 hours in ideal conditions.
It can be paired with other speakers and has mobile phone connectivity. It’s really straight forward to pair with a phone or device. Keep it outdoors when you have charged it with the USB C connector.
It is IP67 rated which means it is dust proof (6) and it can survive a temporary immersion in 1m of water for up to 30 minutes (7). Just remember to seal the charging port.
Sound quality will be dependant on whether you decide to use the Sony App that they recommend and fiddle with the basic three level equaliser. The sound out of the box is a little heavy and muffled requiring a reduction in the Bass level. It’s the typical clean sound you can expect from Sony, though sometimes too clinical.
The Sony App itself appears outdated and the reviews show a plethora of problems with it.
Then there is the push for you to download more apps to complement the speaker, some of which require a subscription. I know that Sony like to work in partnership with others but it’s just irritating.
in conclusion, the speaker is generally quite good but not top end. Avoid the App because it really isn’t worth the effort of time to download it and avoid all the 3rd party Apps it likes you to download especially ‘Fiestable’ as it lacks updates and crashes the iPad.
Superb quality portable wireless Bluetooth speaker which is incredibly easy & quick to set up for instant use, the fact that there are no wires attached makes this perfect for travel or use in multiple locations without having to be right next to a power socket or spend excessive amounts of time faffing about with cables, removing the pesky cables also allows me a much more reduced risk of trip hazards than my previous plug in Bluetooth speaker did.
I like that this is so easy to pick up & relocate without any hassle or restraints as my old Bluetooth speaker was much more time consuming unplugging & reconnecting repeatedly from room to room wherever I wanted to access my music.
The speaker features a waterproof soft rubberised finish that not only resists saltwater & grease but is also shockproof to protect against damage caused by accidental knocks & drops, it also looks very smart & feels fantastic quality.
There is no remote control supplied for use with this speaker, simply use the power functions manually either on the speaker itself or the smart device your using to play your music, you do not need an Apple Music subscription to use this speaker, there is a free app that you can download to access your own music library & create playlists.
I absolutely love the blue colour featured all over the speaker, the picture doesn’t do it justice as it appears to be more of a solid turquoise colour in the image however in reality it is much more of a mottled blue & white finish on the fabric part of the speaker which contrasts beautifully against the rubberised solid turquoise panels.
I also love the 360′ wrap around design of the speaker which allows for better distribution of sound into multiple rooms at the same time, the speaker can be recharged by opening the cap at the rear & inserting the USB-C charging cable supplied.
These speakers are the speakers for vibing . I love them so much and would highly recommend them to everyone. The sounds quality is great and it is super lightweight and so compact so you can bring it anywhere you want. However, I do not know if it is worth the price. I think you might be able to find speakers that are cheaper and have the same volume max. It’s maximum volume is the same amount as my iphone 13. Overall it’s an alright product in quality of the sound but could be better in the volume.
The Sony SRS-XE300 portable wireless Bluetooth speaker is quite heavy which isn’t necessarily a bad thing unless you are carrying it by hand because it doesn’t come with a strap or carrying bag.
It has two full range speakers and two passive radiators for better base, the output from the speakers is funnelled into a line shaped diffuser which spreads the sound over a wider area than conventional speakers, it is also IP67 rated which means it is protected against dust and will withstand being immersed in up to 1m of water for 30 minutes.
The large battery can take up to 5 hours to fully charge but fortunately you can get up to 24 hours playback depending on the volume settings and according to Sony, a 10 minute quick charge can give around 1 hour playback time.
There are buttons on the side of the speaker for Power, Bluetooth Pairing, Play/Pause, Volume Up/Down, Battery Status and Mic Mute. This is a Bluetooth only speaker, there is no aux socket or SD card slot.
Bluetooth pairing was a breeze, as soon as I had turned this speaker on a message popped up on my phone requesting permission to pair with the speaker.
I found the speaker to be deceptively loud for its size and audio quality, as you would expect from Sony, is superb throughout the full audible range. What surprised me the most is the base, which is exceptionally clear, you can pick out the individual base instruments from the music.
The base at the start of ABBA’s “One of Us” has caused problems on some of the larger stereo active speakers that I have tested before, but not with this Sony speaker, it plays anything that you throw at it and it plays it well.
I have played Adele, Lady GaGa, The Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Flac), Avril Lavigne, Classical music and spoken word, without exception they all sounded great.
I had of course went into Bluetooth settings and chose the high quality LDAC codec before listening to the songs.
There is a Sony music centre App available for download from the Play Store which will allow you to alter the base, midrange and treble settings, select mono or stereo operation and enable the high quality LDAC codec. There are also DJ effect settings as well but I haven’t tried those. If you select stereo operation on one speaker, then for best performance, the speaker has to be laid flat with the buttons facing upwards.
The quality of the speaker is superb, it can be used vertically or laid on its side, it can also be paired with up to 100 other compatible speakers and can also be used to take incoming calls, the only downside is the price which is quite high but you get what you pay for.
This speaker really does look the part and has exceptional sound quality. It stands about 250mm tall and 120mm wide.
There are a few control buttons down the front of this which are easy to understand and easier to use. The power button is at the top, press this and a green light appears to the side of the button and a voice tells you this is on.
Once this is on it will scan for Bluetooth devices close by, making this so easy to connect a device to play through this.
The other controls let you turn the volume up and down, even pause a track. Then there’s a battery indicator and a mute button. A few controls without causing stress on how to use this.
This has a built in rechargeable battery which charges pretty quickly. A ten minute charge offers over an hour of quality sound. A full charge lasting for over a full day. Over 24 hours of use. This is done using the USB-C connector which is a little short, but it’s only for charging up.
The sound quality is exceptional, although the bass isn’t as thumping as it could have been, but it doesn’t really spoil the quality of the sound pumping clearly from the speakers.
I have to say that, after hearing that the sound coming from this speaker is better when this is lay on its side I tried that and can confirm that it does sound better on its side.
An other good thing about this speaker is that more than one if this type can be connected to a smart phone together, (I’ve got two set up to my phone and have each speaker in the corners of a room, directly behind my sofa and the sound quality is fantastic. Playing smooth music from either side of me sitting there.
In all, excellent speakers which would be a brilliant expansion to anyone’s music system.
But are they worth the 169.00 price tag, (at time of writing)? Yes, they are worth every penny. The sound they give out is brilliant and crystal clear. They connect using blue too
This speaker is larger than I expected when looking at the listing. I put a can next to it for reference. Whilst it’s fairly large, it looks fantastic with clean lines and fabric grill. It doesn’t look out of place in the living room or the garden. It can be placed upright or on its side and stays firmly in place with the grippy rubber coating.
The sound quality is what you would expect from a quality brand like Sony. The angle of the speaker grill really pushes the sound out and around. At high volume levels the high and low ends were both just as sharp with no distortion.
Connection was simple via Bluetooth and the accompanying Sony music centre and Fiestable apps allow you to control the settings and EQ levels along with being able to create a shared playlist. You can also pair it with up to 100 compatible speakers if you want to spread the sound over a larger area or have stereo sound.
All your standard on /off, play / pause, skip / volume buttons are on the side along with a battery button which gives an audible notification of the battery level, when pressed it will say “battery is at 80%” etc. Speaking of the battery, it is huge! With 24 hours continous playback. It charges via USB C with a power cable included. It has quick charging at 15w.
It’s also IP67 water resistant so can take an accidental spilled drink or unexpected dip in the pool with no issues along with being dust proof and shock resistant so trips to the beach won’t cause it any issues.
It is pricey for a bluetooth speaker but the sound quality alone will top any budget bluetooth speaker hands down. That coupled with the massive battery with quick charging and water/dust resistance really sets this speaker apart.
From the moment you take it out of the box you’ll be able to feel the quality. As soon as you hear it you’ll realise that it offers great value.
Really nice product, would recommend.
I don’t have the world’s best hearing so am perhaps not the best person to judge the quality and performance of this speaker! I did however ask my daughter what she thought and got the feedback: ‘Good!’ so perhaps that’s enough! It certainly sounds good to me even with my hearing problems, with plenty of bass giving a deep, rich sound. It is a Sony speaker so would expect decent performance. Is it worth 140?That’s not for me to judge. If you like a brand and are a sound aficionado, then this may be ideal for you
This is a really nice speaker beautifully presented. I have been using a smaller Sony bt speaker for a few years and that has been great, so I expect this will give years of service. So why not 5 stars? Well, when I compare it to my Bose and B&O bt speakers which cost about the same, I have to say they sound better. The Sony music centre app is helpful in tweaking the sound especially in turning on the stereo. But it seem seems a little muddy to my ears. That said it puts out a good amount of bass.
Overall there is no doubting this is a good speaker but you would expect that. I think there are better sounding speaker at this price point.
Sony devices sound great. That’s an opinion I’ve held for years, and whether it’s tellies or headphones or Bluetooth speakers, they have never proven me wrong. This Bluetooth speaker is no exception. In some ways, it’s surprisingly feature-light, and really quite unremarkable, especially in the black styling. But the sound is incredible.
It’s a fairly heavy device so it’s clearly got some bulk that it can use to drive the soundwaves out with some force, but the quality is remarkable, almost unbelievable. It’s the same sort of hi-fi quality that a few decades ago I would have been happy to hear out of an absolutely top-end hi-fi stereo system. Despite being just one speaker, it manages to fill a room, not just with rough noise but with a fantastic broad sound spectrum. All the detail is there, from the subbass up to the highest high notes. Cranking the volume right up on subbass-heavy music doesn’t damage the reproduction at all, and I pushed this speaker as hard as I thought I would ever need to and it still sounded utterly great.
The microphone is also really good, and surprisingly responsive too, letting you speak from quite a distance and still be clearly heard. This device could have another life as a conference speakerphone for office meetings as well, it is that good.
Features-wise, there’s not a lot to it. Bluetooth connection is as immediate as it could be, and on my Android phone, a little smarter than usual, with a nice little picture of the speaker being shown on my phone when it was available for pairing. It re-pairs exactly as expected and just works, and the range is good. But there’s no additional Alexa integration or anything else smart like that, which does seem a little surprising in 2022. In fact, with no AUX IN and no microSD card slot, it could be argued that it has fewer features than cheaper Bluetooth speakers.
If I’m being fussy- for an expensive speaker like this one, it’s disappointing that Sony decided to skimp on the buttons, so that the volume buttons double up as the track skipping buttons. There’s enough space on the device that those buttons could have been distinct and separate buttons, which I would have preferred. It’s a little bugbear of mine, since I find myself skipping tracks or adjusting volumes quite often and needing to remember which one is the long press and which one is the quick press.
So features-wise and buttons-wise, arguably I should maybe give it four stars. But the sound quality, oh the sound quality, it’s just lovely. Listening to some of my favourite tunes through this, puts a big smile on my face. And that’s why it’s definitely a five star item.
I have a portable speaker by Nokia which I use to listen to music in the shower. However I have found it has a lot of echo in a small bathroom. This speaker however, claims to reduce eco and whilst not perfect it is certainly better than my old speaker.
The speaker itself comes well packaged with a usb-c charging cable and lots of literature. It is very easy to connect to Bluetooth. When you first connect it asks you to download an app, however I have found that you don’t need to do this and can play music/podcasts from pre-existing apps such as Spotify.
The speaker is larger and heavier than other portable speakers (see image for comparison). However, it is still easy to take about particularly with the attached carry rope.
The sound is good- the bass comes through and the clarity of the treble is high. Overall, this speaker is expensive, but it’s good and I would recommend this product.
