I have signal issues in my area and have tried so many card readers from Sum up to streamline 5g machines. But this card reader is different. Having the offline mode is super useful ,during the busy period I use offline mode then connect to my phone end of day to complete the payments.
Set up reasonably simple once all the ‘jargon’ is understood. Will give the Card Reader its first run at the start of the Seasonal Craft Fairs at the end of the week. Test runs of payment processes look easy enough with added customer satisfaction that a printed receipt or an e-mailed version are all now possible.
It’s great, it’s like having a full epos till system in one device that will go in your pocket, works with Wi-Fi only but you can use your mobile phones Wi-Fi hotspot for internet connection when on a market stall, the only downside is the charger doesn’t have Ethernet port and USB’s like shown in the YouTube videos, UK version is just a charger models for other countries my be different.
I’ve used full epos tills before and I can program them. I like it, it’s great for cafes and restaurants and market stall holders. You can create customer accounts on the device and also save payment details for the future, I’ve disable the saving of payment details.
If you have more than two of these you can take orders and have someone else take the payment when you enable tickets on the device at a counter using the bigger terminal available at over 600 to buy. 5 Device
Looks and feels like a solid, well made piece of equipment. Well packaged and presented. Very easy to set up and use. Payment information flows quickly and smoothly and money in the bank on time every time. Hard to se how to improve.
I really did not want to spend over 200 on a card reader right now, but my mobile one kept messing up and in the end had to “bite the bullet” So pleased I did, simple to set up, fast and effective, also not as bulky as some on the market.
Excellent machine for the money. Very impressed with the speed.
Charged the battery fully when I first got it and it’s been 3 days of use so far without another charge. (Still at least 60% battery)
Nice feature to print, sms or email the receipt (or no receipt) which is handy.
The several Square apps for the iPhone are useful to go with the account.
I like the fact that it takes the processing charge from the money taken, before depositing the rest in your bank account, so no more one whole months bill of card transaction charges to pay.
The fact that you can have the money in your bank the next day for free (after transaction cost) or you can pay 1% to have it transferred almost immediately is useful.
The fees are:
1.75% transaction cost for in person payments
2.5% transaction cost for phone orders (manual entry)
Which is actually not too bad for the extra features of the apps and next day deposit.
Overall, I think it’s a very good machine and I like the whole Square payment system so far.
have had this now for 4 months good customer service , works well ,only drawback when you switch it on to process a card and it wants to do a software update that can take 5 mins or so , not very often but can be a pain, other than that good chunky terminal , easy to read screen and other features from the square team that will take too long to go through, worth a look
