StarTech.com USB 3.0 to Dual HDMI Adapter – 1x 4K 30Hz & 1x
StarTech.com USB 3.0 to Dual HDMI Adapter – 1x 4K 30Hz & 1x 1080p – External Video & Graphics Card – USB Type-A to HDMI Dual Monitor Display Adapter – Supports Windows Only – Black (USB32HD2)
I need to use four screens for my work, but one could only be in SD. This adaptor has made that a thing of the past. I now have four HD+ screens and can work seamlessly between them all. A bit expensive, but I have bought cheaper ones that did not work.
I am just so happy that I bought this!! I have a laptop with only one hdmi port and 2 usb ports and this little thing gave me 2 exta screens and the laptop one is the 3rd, and no duplicate screen I am talking 3 differents separate screens, all from a usb port!!! And greatvresolution! I just love it!! Worth every penny!
As per other reviews, it does what it is supposed to. Easy set up (although you’d still have to download the drive which is minor) but once you’ve got it installed, it’s the real deal. I wish however it had more than 2 ports! Price-wise I think it was a little over!
Excellent product was able to connect to my laptop and two monitor screens. You must download the software driver from the StarTech.com website to use the 3-monitor screen feature.
This product is absolutely brilliant i was trying to extend to four displays through a docking station to no avail but the star tech has saved the day working along side the docking station it has gave me the ability to get 4 monitors off my laptop great stuff
Works perfectly. Disable the DDC/CI setting on your monitors. If you don’t disable that you have some reconnection issues when you power the monitors off and on.
I have two external monitors connected to my Lenovo Idea Pad 3. My laptop has USB 3.0 ports which I think is a requirement.
I have bought many different USB to video cards over the year and so far this is simply the best. It installs really easy and just simply works.
Startech were not sure if this would work with other USB to video cards at the same time but I can confirm that it does. The reason I am certain is because I was so impressed by this card that I bought a second one and plugged it into my now 6 year old laptop and it ran perfectly well. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not gaming on this old laptop, I use it for general office type work. It’s simply great now having 8 monitors all running at the same time, makes life so much more productive.
his is great there is one problem i came across though and that’s when my NVidia driver updates it was messing this up so i could only view either the screen from this only as the main display when i disconnected the other monitors in my setup or all my other monitors only so i ended up having to do a system restore to get it working again!! so now when i have a gpu driver update i have to turn this device off every time while it installs then turn it back on after apart from that its very good very clear and i don’t have any other problems!
I had tried so many products that proclaimed to extend multiple monitors. This one actually does the job! Fantastic little product. I have to give a big thank you to the brilliant customer service who advised me on whether or not it would work before actually buying it. I had an Asus Vivo Book which extended one monitor off the HDMI port. This product extended another monitor off the USB3.0 port perfectly. Also the size is nice and small and set up takes about 30 seconds.
One HDMI output on Asus X515 2022, but needed 2 extended monitors. Not mirror splitter etc. I bought this, small download from their website easy done and installed. Reboot as requested. Plugged in both monitor HDMI cables into device and then device into USB3.2. Perfect all screens working and in any configuration you want. My monitors are top of range merely 1920 x 1080 Pixels but they all work.
OK, so the supported resolutions are listed in the description, but it doesn’t make it clear that monitors in between (such as QHD) will drop back down to HD (1080p) resolution. This means that resolution will be lost, and the resulting interpolation will make text look pale and fuzzy when using a QHD monitor. Works fine with 4k, but QHD monitor needs to be plugged separately into laptop HDMI port. Not a problem in my case but meant that single-cable docking was not a possibility.
Absolutely brilliant piece of kit, read numerous reviews and searched and searched to get the right kit to link 2 x dell monitors and my dell laptop, makes working from home a smooth operations when dealing with multiple spreadsheets and documents.
And future proof with both usb and usb c connections
Pleasantly surprised when this adapter allowed me to use another external display for my windows laptop, only used the 1080p output and was amazed by the video quality. Would recommend.
If you’re trying to set up 2 or more screens but you don’t have enough HDMI ports on your PC this is what you want.
It’s a little bit more expensive than others but some of the others don’t work, I know, I’ve tried cheaper ones, they just didn’t seem to function for me, whether that’s because they were cheap, broken or just not the right tool for the job, I don’t know, but I do know that this one works for me, so it should work for you too.
I wanted to set up 3 screens, two regular monitors and a drawing tablet, but I only have 2 HDMI ports on my PC, and only one of them worked for some reason, so this was really handy, I plug both regular monitors into this adapter, the adapter into any USB port and my tablet into the working HDMI port and so far, it has worked perfectly, and it’s been about 2 months at this point, no issues, perfectly good screen resolution, no flickering or disconnects, 10/10, would recommend.
Not the cheapest out there, but then my cheaper one stopped working and i bought Startech, has worked very well, when i had. Slight issue with a screen was not always turning on when booting up customer support guided me through a settings change and the problem was resolved. Very impressed.
It does what it says it will, when competing devices don’t. I tried several other ways of getting two HDMI signals out of my computer (which only has 1 HDMI output and several USB 3 ports). This is the only one which has worked. It still seems very expensive though!
Downloaded and installed the drivers from the website, plugged in and connected my additional 2 monitors and hey presto they worked perfectly first time! I’m really very pleased with the adapter, the alternative reliable multi- monitor adapter by Dell (which I know to be a quality product) is nearly 3 times the price! Highly recommended.
I’ve gone through a few solutions in my quest to run multiple monitors through my PC incurring costs of well over 100. This is worth the money. Perfect picture quality, worked within seconds of me plugging it in.
Can be used to duplicate and extend your screen to multiple screens. I am running a 3 screen setup with this device flawlessly. Top marks. Really really pleased. Fast and efficient postage and delivery too.
I recently bought an IdeaPad Flex 5 and I was disappointed to find out that the USB-C port couldn’t handle an HDMI adaptor. In a Lenovo forum, the StarTech.com USB 3.0 to Dual HDMI Adapter was mentioned as a solution for a 2nd external monitor. I plugged it in to a USB 3 port and it set itself up no problem! Perfect 1920 x 1080 resolution on both external displays.
Really impressed with this little gadget. I had tried a variety of dockkng stations so I could use my home PC and work laptop on the same dual monitors, but had so many issues with configuration and instability on my computers I had to return them all. There is no fuss with this, just a heads up that I had to install the drivers first before connecting, as it wasn’t recognised, but that’s fine. I’ve linked it up to a dual USB switcher so works with either computer with the flick of a switch.
Very easy to set up. Plug it in and off you go. You may need to access the “display settings” in Windows to set it up the way you want it though. This is easy to do. Just type “display settings” in the bottom left corner of your screen. From there, the correct settings for your needs should be pretty intuitive.
This device appears to contain its own graphics card. This means, if you’re using a laptop, that it will allow you to run three monitors (the laptop one itself and two external monitors) with each monitor displaying a different image / software to the others. Or you can set them to all show the same image, but I’m not sure why anyone would want to.
So it’s a fab device.
BUT. It has a poor refresh rate. This means that any videos or games played on your external monitors through this device will be noticeably “choppy”. So it’s great if you want to work on three monitors. But not great if you want to play games or watch videos.
As a hangover from the first Covid lock down, setting up up a better home office was on my to do list. The nature of my work and hobbies (both electronics and software design) mandates lots of screen/desktop space. My laptop had 1 HDMI and 1 x VGA, both worked well by themselves, but getting three screens working in “Extended Desktop Mode” was elusive.
My laptop is old enough not to have USB C, but does have USB 3.0. So I was a bit hesitant about spending more than 30 on a solution;but I went for it.
I could not be happier, it worked straight out of the box, no discs, no downloads and I have full 1080 HD on my 27″, 24 and 15.6″ screen. No flicke,r no hassle & no losss of quality of signal.
The product came on time, well packaged and discrete enough to hide away behind my laptop to keep me desk free of clutter or desktop boxes.
Its a lot cheaper than upgrading my laptop….definitely buy it if you are in the same or similar situation.
I purchased an HP PAVILLION 15 with a USB-c port that was not, as it turns out, suitable for data transfer as I had hoped. This adaptor works amazingly. Resolution is different to each of the two external monitors but totally adequate. HP Technical Support has also benefited from all of this as I felt it necessary to complain to them about misleading website advertising for their own HP USB 2.0 HDMI accessory that would not work. HP did not know this functionality could be done! Well worth the investment as it had been the difference between (a) needing to return the laptop and (b) being able to “do” my new job. The technical support team were equally AMAZING at SmartTech and installed it remotely for me! Absolutely great all round.
This is not plug in and play, but, after following the instructions, installing the drivers on the website… Cheeky little restart…… The laptop freezing on the restart, hitting the oh sheeet button…
Another restart, the lappie had another spak out and hey presto one restart later everything is tickety boo…
This little buggr works….
Ive restarted the laptop multiple times, it works. It actually works really well for what i want it for..
I never review tech, but I’m so amazed by this product that I’m giving it my all.
A USB 3.0 to dual-HDMI, just WOW! I love it, I’m going to order a whole bunch of them. I have a docking hub connected to my Type-C output and the blooming StarTech dual-HDMI out just runs off the hub, I’m amazed, I love it, my hat goes off to StarTech and this product. I’ve seen this online stacked on hub, over hub and working but didn’t entirely believe it, but I am a believer now. OUTSTANDING KIT! – LOVE IT!!!!+-
I wanted an adapter that would allow me to run two monitors in extended desktop mode in addition to my laptop screen, so giving me three screens to display different applications at the same time. I’m using old monitors (one is a 12 year old Samsung SyncMaster, the other an old DELL), neither have HDMI ports so both are connected via DVI to HDMI leads. After plugging in this adapter and updating the drivers (via Computer Management), it just worked. A bit pricey, hence 4 stars for cost, but can’t complain at performance. Great device.
Got this a couple of days ago and now have it connected to my Surface Pro 6. I’m really impressed. I’m running two 24″ HD monitors from the usb 3 port on my Surface pro. So in all I now have 3 monitors for my home office set up. There is no lag or any other issue that I have been able to see in the first day of proper usage. The only issue really is I have now lost my USB port, but that’s a small price to pay for having a lot more screen real estate on which to do my spreadsheets. It did take a few mins of set up effort to ensure it recognised the screens in the right order but that was simple and no problem at all. I’d really recommend this clever bit of kit to anyone looking for a quick way to add more screens without buying a new graphics card.
The only reason why I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because of how short the USB cable is as you can see in the photo. I am ordering a usb to hdmi (female) extension so that I can keep the cables behind.
Rarely am I motivated to provide feedback for Amazon purchases but I make an exception on this one. I chose this after my all-in-one PC’s integrated display adapter failed and I was reduced to using the external HDMI output for my primary display. This was a pain because I’m accustomed to working with two displays. I had tried other options like a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter that I have but response was pathetic, along with lower resolution.
I was very apprehensive about whether this would actually live up to the hype, not to mention being wary about parting with anything beyond a tenner. My concerns were totally unfounded. The package was delivered lightning quick via Prime less than 24 hours after purchase. I am the type that doesn’t mess around with manuals or drivers so I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port to gauge the worst case scenario. To my surprise it worked flawlessly, easily matching the other identical monitor, which has max resolution of 2560×1440. I pitted the two monitors against each other running one of those 4K videos off YouTube and couldn’t notice any difference. Worth mentioning that the USB 3.0 port did not detect the device on Windows 10 at all until after I installed the drivers from the website. There was no noticeable difference so I’ve kept it plugged into the USB 2.0 port.
I sense the CPU is working ever slightly harder because the cooling fan seems to have kicked into high gear a bit more than usual. I’ll need to confirm whether this is a real issue but it’s a negligible annoyance considering I’m back in business with the same setup I’d gotten used to.
I should point out that only one of the HDMI ports on the device supports 4K, while the other is slightly lower. This is not an issue for me because I only needed the one, and the second is just a bonus. All in all, I am fully satisfied as it was clearly as described and solved my problem 100%. Of course there are cheaper alternatives but they only go up to 1080p. In an ideal world my computer would have a USB-C port and I could get away with a third of the price, but hey, such is life.
I need to use four screens for my work, but one could only be in SD. This adaptor has made that a thing of the past. I now have four HD+ screens and can work seamlessly between them all. A bit expensive, but I have bought cheaper ones that did not work.

Bought for my wife’s work-supplied laptop to allow her to run dual or triple monitors at home.
Only using general office software and custom databases so can’t comment on it for when accurate graphics and display-refresh matter.
Essentially plug-and-play and only need to disconnect one plug to remove the monitors from the setup.
Works very well as a one-box solution.
As per other reviews, it does what it is supposed to. Easy set up (although you’d still have to download the drive which is minor) but once you’ve got it installed, it’s the real deal. I wish however it had more than 2 ports! Price-wise I think it was a little over!

I can’t remember the last time I gave review on amazon, but this time I felt that it was needed.
Having recently purchased a dual monitor setup, my goal was to be able to extend my laptops display to these two screens.
I had previously purchased two other adapters from amazon that were considerably cheaper than this one, but both failed to work.
This adapter is quite pricey, but it works perfectly. Don’t waste your time buying those cheaper ones on amazon because they simply don’t work.
After trying several items, just this device split the screen into two monitors simultaneously!!!! But is it quite EXPENSIVE.
Using it with my laptop to power 4 external
Monitors and it does a superb job. Very impressed
Works perfectly. Disable the DDC/CI setting on your monitors. If you don’t disable that you have some reconnection issues when you power the monitors off and on.

2 HDMI inpouts and USB output connected to laptop: the two monitors worked well at the same time with videos playing on.
You can connect an additional screen (not replicated, an actual separate screen for multiple screen working)
