PIR sensor

Excellent security light with adjustable time to control how long the light comes on after activation. Really good quality and easy to install. Customer service also excellent after a minor issue, which was responded to and resolved promptly.
We had this product for six months (bought in November 2022) and everything was working fine all winter. The lamp is bright and the adjustment settings for range and angle work well, a very good product.
However it started turning itself on without detecting any movement. It would stay on for the allotted time as dictated by the time setting but within a minute it would turn itself on (again without detecting any movement. This continued all night although the interval before coming on was sometimes longer. Adjusting sensitivity as well as range and angle made no difference.
I reported this to Stasun and after a small amount of email correspondence they sent me a replacement.

Easy to fit, weatherproof, motion detection good, really bright light does the job for which it is intended cannot fault it to be honest.
It’s unusual to receive good customer service these days but this company have been outstanding since I contacted them about problems with the Stasun LED Security light that I purchased in Jan 2022 (it started continuously flashing on and off all night). Their initial response landed in my spam box but fortunately I noticed it a few days later, replied with the requested information (which they acknowledged immediately) and I have now received a brand new replacement light. The light itself is very good too. Very impressed.
Delivered the next day. Really easy to fit to the existing wiring. Gives great light which illuminates the entire driveway. Exactly what we were after and motion detector picks up movement 7-8 metres away. Delighted.
This is the third one I have bought over the last 5 years. This is a really excellent device for a number of reasons.
1. Fitting is easy. Having a separate base plate (see pic) allows you to easily fit it in place and wire in the terminals without worrying about the main unit. The fittings provided are excellent quality and match the unit. The rubber grommet keeps the water from coming in through the cable point. Once the base plate is in place, the main unit is simply pushed in place, the electrical connection being made by the 3 push-pins. Be careful to make sure the supplied rubber gasket is in its circular slot. That really is it! 15 minute job.
2. Functionality is very flexible. (see pic of instruction booklet) Even if you do not use all the options, at this price you may as well get them anyway! 3 levels of sensitivity (near/medium/far). Different durations to stay on for – I usually use the 3 minute option. An always on option (see instructions). A dawn to dusk option where the light stays lit at 30% throughout the night-time hours, but then lights up full brightness when motion is detected before returning to 30% again.
3. The brightness is tremendous. Each lamp is very very bright.
4. The positioning of the PIR sensor and the two lamps can be altered through quite a decent range. If you look at my fitting, I have had to turn the PIR completely upside down to suit my situation.
5. Warranty. Two year warranty is included. Even if it fails immediately after the 24 months warranty period, I think the price/24 months works out at excellent value for such a quality product.
6. This is a good looking device. The plastic is very high quality. Its a really solid product that is not going to rust on your wall. All in all, this is a really excellent device that far exceeds what you actually want it to do!
We got this light for the back garden and it works as described. Excellent light brightness and motion detection.
One of the leds stopped working after a year but the customer support was amazing from the Satsun folks and they sent us a new light without any additional charges.

I purchased this item in Dec 2021 and was really satisfied with every aspect of it. Unfortunately 1 year later one of the lights stopped working. I contacted the manufacturer in the US, and despite it being Xmas holidays, they sent a replacement within 5 working days…….amazing customer service.
I purchased this 16 months ago as we had one at our previous address which worked brilliantly.
The new had one light stop working last weekend.
I messaged the manufacturer with the Amazon order number and received a replacement light today.

I had this light at my previous address for around 4 years without any issue.
This was a great light while it lasted. When one panel failed after 18 months, I contacted the supplier and they replaced the fitting promptly.

Like the design, fitting and operation of this unit, but was disappointed to learn on reading the instructions that the PIR sensor is not IP 65 rated. Surely this should be a standard feature for a security light designed to be used outside and exposed to the elements, particularly with the weather in the UK. In my experience it is always the PIR seor that fails with these lights, usually due to water ingress
I installed this using a corner bracket and adjusted the lights to illuminate two sides of the house: the drive and the path house leading to the front door. It was easy to install. After experimenting with the sensitivity and direction of the motion sensor, it has worked just fine.
Customer Care and service is second to none which is very important.
The unit itself is easy to install and adjust.
Originally purchased in Jan 2021 and worked well until June 2022 when one of the LED lamps failed. I contacted the seller’s customer service to enquire about a replacement under the 2 year product warranty. The customer service was excellent and a replacement was sorted very quickly and received within days. The customer service staff member I dealt with was first rate. Let’s hope the lamp lasts a bit longer this time!
I recently left a review under the headline above giving details of my experience contacting Stasun about a warranty claim for a security light that had failed within that warranty period. After initially feeling that they were ignoring me i would like to give an update on the matter. Stasun have got back to me with an apology and have sent a replacement light out to me through Amazon. I have no problem giving credit where it’s due and amending my original review. The lamp is a very good security light and did exactly what i wanted it do when it was working. I have knocked 1 star off because i think that customer service could acknowledge your emails a bit quicker just to put your mind at rest so you know that you are not being ignored. I am sure Stasun will be looking into this issue for future customers. I would like to thank Stasun for sending me a replacement lamp under their warranty.
The light works very well but I did have a problem with one of the lights it stopped working. But what I would like to say is the light was coming up to about a year old and the company replaced it and we’re extremely sorry for the inconvenience.

One of my favourite purchases. Motion sensor is brilliant, even my dog has worked out how to activate it.
Love that the two lights can face in opposite directions, lighting up two areas at the same time. Such an added bonus.
It’s a really quirky outside light, functional yet not boring.
Love the finish colour in white, as I hate boring black and grey.
Very pleased with this security light. Easy to fit and works well. One helpful hint though; the four spacers which let the base plate sit out from the mounting surface kept falling off as I tried to position it for screwing home. The problem was solved by inserting a very thin rolled blutack inside each spacer which kept them in place while I tightened the two mounting screws. No further problem. Once switched on, don’t switch off if the lights come on in bright sunlight. They will do this a few times until the sensor settles. Then they revert to night time only.
Light worked well until a few weeks ago when one panel failed. Contacted Stasun customer service who shipped a replacement item within days. Replacement has round panels, not the oblong ones of the original item, but works just as well. If it hadn’t been for the panel fail would have awarded 5 stars.
Great product, in fact I brought a second one. Easy to install and great pir detection. My only issue is the limited rotation of the actual light fitting, it doesn’t rotate as much as I would like it to, apart from that one minor issue I would defo recommend i
I wanted a weatherproof light with a strong beam to cover my car on the road, this ticks all the boxes. The base fits on the wall which the wiring connects to and you just push the light into the base. The motion sender is adjustable and gives great cover over the area I wanted to cover. If you want a security light that’s easy to fit and won’t rust this is the one to buy.
The product looks sleek and brightness is pretty good as is the sensor sensitivity. The wall fixing includes separate spacers that stand it off for cable access. These proved tricky to get to stay in place. The other fitting issue is the space between the light backplate and the wall base plate. There is room for wires but it is not generous and it did require a fair bit of fiddling, up a ladder. Generally happy with it now it’s up.
Replaced an old 150w halogen security light with this. Really easy to install. You can do the wiring on the back plate first. Then the lamp just pushes onto the backplate. No need to use 3 hands to wire it, as with most old lights. The light quality is really lovely. Bright, but soft too. It doesn’t glare or dazzle. Which is great when unloading the car at night, I can see everything very clearly. Sensitivity is hard to judge, but I’ve managed to get it to detect people entering the driveway – approx 20-30ft and not just come on randomly when cars pass. Very pleased with the purchase.
The twin spots are easy to manipulate and set in different directions and angles, but don’t offer an overwhelming range of motion. The light they produce is very bright, and definitely a ‘cold’ white.
I do feel really let down by the range of the PIR sensor though. It claims to be up to 69ft. We have a 10m driveway (so about 35ft) and I was hoping the lights would come on once someone starts walking or driving down it. With the range set to max, the lights only come on when someone is halfway down the drive – so approx 15-20ft away. This is absolutely nowhere near the manufacturers claim.
Wall mounting is made much easier by the two part construction. You attach the backplate to the wall and wire it up and the light unit mates on with sliding electric contacts. A single screw retains the light unit in place. None of that wobbling up a ladder trying to hold the light unit in one hand whilst screwing down fiddly terminals with the other hand. Excellent idea!
Here’s the warning. Unlike the PIRs generally on sale, it’s essential that the backplate mains wires are trimmed to the right length, laid tidily and fitted to the sliding contact terminal block without any loops or bends of excess mains wire. If you leave too much wire, it prevents the light unit mating properly with the backplate. If you miss this and tighten the light assembly retaining screw… SNAP! You just broke the threaded boss off the backplate – ruining it. In fact, repairing this with some simple epoxy adhesive fixed it like new (the retaining screw doesn’t bear the weight of the unit) and allowed me to forget my incompetence.
Really, really happy with this product. Well designed – but not idiot-proof!
I was so pleased with the first one I ordered as a security light at the rear of the house that I ordered a second one for the front.

This is a good quality security light. A nice touch was that you wire in the back plate and then the rest just slots onto the back. It has soft rubber tabs to cover all exposed screws. One of the most straight-forward lights I’ve ever installed.
Purchased one of these lights for the front of my house. Once installed setting it up was straight forwards it’s too early to say if they are water proof as advertised but I’m more than happy with the brightness and the motion detection and also being able to adjust the lights in different directions was a bonus.The only gripe I have is the spacers you have to fit there a real pain, once you’ve put them on and claimed the ladder you can guarantee that one or more will fall off so you have to climb back down to retrieve it. But overall I’m really pleased with the light so much so I purchased 3 more for the rest of the house. I would recommend these lights and with the 2 year guarantee you get you can’t go wrong.
I was a little apprehensive about purchasing this light after reading the reviews around having to drill a cable hole directly behind the housing of the light. As I have a steel directly over my garage door I was a little concerned on how this would be mounted. As it turns out, by fitting the spacers on the back of the light, you can trial the mains cable bellow the housing and the wire was fed in to the exciting hole hat was there for my previous security light.
Overall a very simple light to install, well made and works very well. Nice and bright with easy controls and looks good.
…be aware that the space inside the base plate is extremely limited, so if you have multiple cables to attach and the need to bridge out any of the individual wires you will have very little space to work with. I really like the design that allows you to mount the base plate and then attach the PIR/lights to it easily, though. Good swivel on the PIR in both dimensions (some only swivel up and down). Light coverage is good, and just about ‘warm’ enough (ie not harsh blue light) not to be annoying. A future version with a broader selection of light timings would be good – the minimum on this one is 1 minute, which may be too long for some people. Tried out the multi-level light settings; not actually of any use to me but a clever idea and really helpful to anyone who might need low level background illumination. So: overall, recommended!
This LED security light was easy to install and set up. Excellent strength of light and good range of adjustment for motion sensor.
One of the lights failed after 18 months so contacted the seller who was extra efficient in his speed of dealing with the problem and had no hesitation in sending a full replacement light unit.
I would recommend this product and seller most highly.
Overall, the product is decent and does the job as described. Unfortunately, one of the lights got dead after 2 months of use. I requested support from the seller and this is the real show. After a few questions on the issue, they sent me a brand new box, which is a great customer service.
I expect to see the durability of this new light, but i recommend this product.
Originally purchased a Stasun security light 16 months ago, twin round head version and had it hardwired in by an electrician. On of the lamps recently failed and because it was well within the two year warranty I contacted Stasun. The customer service was absolutely excellent . I liaised with JERRY, sent some photos, proof of purchase and a receipt from the installing electrician and received a replacement within a few days. The model I received is the twin square head version which is even better than the original one I purchased. I do like the product and hope this one lasts.
Very easy to install as the back plate is fixed to the wall and wired up before simply slotting the rest of the unit on and securing with one screw.
The main reason I bought this was the D2D function where you can have the light on constant at 30% then 100% when movement is detected. This is where I have deducted a star because it’s not 30%… more like 60%. I will probably not use this setting as it’s too bright and intrusive to have on all of the time so I might as well have paid less for a light without this setting. There just isn’t enough difference between the ‘constant on’ and the ‘movement detected’ light level.
The light heads have a reasonable range of adjustment however when tilted fully downwards they touch the PIR, which doesn’t seem to cause false triggers but looks strange. I have it mounted on the corner of my house and it would have been great if the lights could move outwards to 90deg rather than 50deg. It’s a shame because the only reason they can’t is because they come into contact with the main body of the unit. If the light ‘stalks’ were a few mm longer this wouldn’t be the case. This pointisnt a complaint as the range of movement is as advertised but it’s a shame that the reason for the restriction could so easily be fixed.
The PIR is very good. It’s so much better having sliding switches instead of rotating knobs you have to ‘fine tune’ and fiddle with.
I’ve knocked off a star for ‘motion detection’ only because again, due to what seems a silly design flaw, the PIR can’t be tilted down very far. It’s on a ball and socket (like a car rear view mirror). This looks neat but other far cheaper lights have an adjustable swinging arm that lets you point the sensor at the ground if you wish… I have this light 2mtrs high on the corner of the house and I can sneak past beneath it without being detected.
A fantastic buy for me. You can set the lights to stay on by flicking the main light switch a couple of times so the kids can still play in the garden when it is dark. Set them back to normal by switching off at main switch for 10 seconds and then back on again. Can position lights to light up what you want to. I am glad I took the gamble and so are the kids!
