Idk if this is just got me but the audio is great, I had the headset for one month and the mic is broken it was really quite and muffled now it’s loud and scratchy
After many disappointing headphone try outs it was good to finally have one that lived up to the arctis hype. If you want a great comfortable headset for webchat and gaming this is a great pair that accomadates glasses and has a good battery life.
I can also plug the dongle into my phone to use with my headse
I has a Steelseries 7x and it broke so i found this one, and the 7x being a 160 and this being 100, this is an upgrade, better sound quality, surround sound is amazing, i have dolby atmos which was a 15 extra on xbox but its defo worth it. 10/10
If you have realistic expectation you will not be disappointed . I purchase this headset to replace my astro a50 and considering I pay 60% from what I pay for my astro 4 -5 years ago i didn’t expect to have better sound quality or to be more comfortable and it isn’t , It has decent sound and are ok in comfort area . But what has over my old astro it will make it better … you can connect simultaneously your phone and your ps5.
I pay 130 and I don’t regret it.
Amazing battery life, lightweight and super comfortable even with glasses and with a few tweaks to the EQ they sound phenomenal. I’d suggest watching some YouTube videos as a guide.
Hell Let Loose is like a different game, the spatial audio works so well it’s made a massive difference. They work amazingly well with every game I’ve tried to be fair.
Very, very happy with these.
Absolutely brilliant headset if using for pc gaming using there sonar app, the spatial surround sound enhances the sound for fps games, the Bluetooth mode is great if you connected your phone to them for answering calls while gaming as you can still hear the gameplay and it mutes your microphone from the game to just the phone call, highly recommend
Straight to the point! These headphones are outstanding for the price. Using these on XSX the sound quality is noticeable from the onset. Mic quality is also good with no issues with background noise. Also very comfy to wear, especially as I wear glasses and can wear these with no fatigue around the head for hrs of play. Pleasantly surprised with how well made they are. So if you want a decent headset for low end budget these are for you. Hope this helps any prospective purchaser.
This headset is by far the best I’ve ever used. It exceeded all of my expectations. The sound, surround sound, noise cancellation, and everything is amazing. The dongle is easy to use just plug it into the Xbox and turn the headset on, I am unsure why some people hate it. I did have to download the software onto my laptop though and switch off the volume limiter in order to get the headset louder, but this was very easy following the guide on the SteelSeries website. If you’re debating it and in the fence about getting it, get it. I can’t recommend this enough
Bought after reading reviews on rtings. very happy with my choice.
Pros
– Comfortable
– Excellent passive isolation
– Decent audio
– Spatial audio seems good
– COMFORTABLE!!!!!
– Effective with PC and PS5
Cons
– Excellent passive isolation (cannot hear when called etc!)
– Requires manufacturer bloatware for spatial audio
– Low latency/spatial audio is though same USB dongle needed for PS5, a pain to have to keep moving it.
Had these for a few months. Have had to change headsets a lot because I tend to come across issues over time.
These have been really solid so far. Volume is great and the audio quality is good enough for me easily.
Best part is that the battery life is great.
My only gripe is that the microphone is quite quiet.
The build materials are simple. But it is what to expect from a budget-friendly product.
In general terms: It does the job. Pretty well.
The sound is clear, mainly when paired with the SteelSeries App, for gaming and media. When playing FPS games, it has a pretty decent precision with spatial audio. The bass is decent.
The microphone is cristal clear and does a pretty good job even more when you take into account the price of the headset.
In overall, pretty good headset, probably one of the best in its price range.
Use to have the steelseries artics Pro but they broke because of the design and this is the only steelseries which follows normal headphone design. The sound quality is great and they stayed on my head but only cause they felt a little to small for my fat improperly birthed head. Like all headphones would recommend a chat/game audio splitter for pc users because convenience. Overall 7/10
I’m very iffy about the type of headphones I like to use for extended periods of time. With that being said I am very pleased to say the audio quality on these are absolutely amazing they aren’t audiophile quality but they are perfect for gaming I can hear very well on for games when listening to foot steps and I can clearly tell the pin point direction in which they are coming from.
I don’t leave many reviews but if any of you are looking for a great pair of durable, light, comfortable pair of high quality sounding headphones for a low price tag of 30 I highly recommend these.
It’s like a cloud on your head they’re that comfortable and you can honestly forget they’re there sometimes.
Rating:
-Microphone quality isn’t the best but it’s does the job to a good enough standard so 7/10
-Sound quality 8/10
-Comfort 9/10
-Durability 9/10
-Ease of use & software included for fine tuning 9/10
Very happy with the product. I hope some of you other buyers will have the same satisfaction I have with these.
Used for my asus ally, installed the official software can select different profile based on game, sound quality is also good, I can also use it for my ps5 and switch.
After my previous reptilian headset randomly died, I hopped onto the Steel Series Nova 7X after hearing good things.
Straight out of the box, plugged dongle into xbox and everything came alive, quite effortless.
The headset is a tidy piece of kit, feels good in hand and for the price I think it’s what you’d hope for, no sense of cheap plastic.
Initial impressions in use, it sounds good but the bass feels flat/restrained, not something I’d expect in a headset with this price tag but equally “Gamer” audio is often tuned for the high end details to find footsteps etc
I also found a lack of mic monitoring a little jarring at first, unable to decide if I’m shouting in the outside world or not.
Jumping onto the play store to find the steelseries app, assuming I can tweak things..after multiple search terms etc I found no such app.
After hitting Google, it seems I need to plug the USB dongled into my PC and download the SteelSeries GG app (skippable registration)
From there I was able to set the headset EQ, and just using one of the presets (i liked “Smiley”) the headset absolutely came into its own.. bass strong enough I felt the headset vibrate on my head, while delivering crisp highs, also in my clicking around I was able to turn off a volume limiter (probably best left turnee on, it can get painfully loud!) And while I saw no direct toggle for it I also seem to have turned on mic monitoring.
In use, comfort is very good though I did find it made my ears feel quite warm, it’s also a 27c day so I’ll not pin that on the headset.
All in all, excellent headset far superior to my previous but its 2023 and Steelseries doesn’t have a mobile app for it? What on earth!!!
They are the only brand I can find with the ski-band instead of foam padding. It is so much more comfortable than a block of foam or just solid plastic. The sound quality is amazing compared to brands like HyperX or Logitech. Bluetooth range is pretty good, but can also use wired. Mic is not great, the arctis 3 has a much better mic with better quality than this headset, but if you have an external mic that won’t be an issue.
The headphones have a very good sound quality, I also really like is comes with USB-C dongle so you can plug in to your mobile device aswell, and if your pc doesn’t have the USB c port, they include a cable adapter from USB c to usb a. What I didn’t like about this headphones is that when you connect it to the phone, the volume of the headphones is not very high compraed to connecting it to the PC
I recently got this headset and I’m really liking it. Its really comfy to wear for long gaming sessions and also as headphones to wear to listen to music on from your phone. There is only 1 flaw I have with this and that is that when I turn the audio fully up on the wheel on the headset I do hear some slight static. So i have it a little turned down which is no problem for me as it is still loud enough when listening to stuff. Don’t let this put you off, I have tried the Corsair Virtuoso and the static was so much worse and I couldn’t even remove it I had to send them back. I really recommend this headset to anyone on PC as that’s all I have used it for, but I’m sure they are really good for Xbox and PlayStation.
All round a great improvement over the already great previous Artics headphones. Better build quality, more comfortable, better Bluetooth connectivity, better sound, USB C, better battery life and they have the ability to be paired with other consoles (so you’re no longer limited to wireless only with Xbox or PS).
By default they are a little quiet as there’s a software volume limiter on which you can switch off this off when connected to their app on PC.
Problems start when the volume limiter is off though as you’re able to hear clearly that the audio level and sound quality isn’t as good in the left ear cup, when the volume is high enough the sound in left ear cup is slightly distorted and it gives of a very faint static sound (which isn’t present in the right), on lower volumes these issue is barely noticeable – but once heard you can’t unhear.
I returned my first pair and had the same problem with the second pair, some research on Reddit suggests this is a known issue.
Bought for my son who wanted a less bulky wireless headset. These are very good quality. Haven’t figured out a way of switching them between the PS4 and PC easily as yet but haven’t tried that hard as yet.
It has connectivity issues it stops playing sound from my pc and to fix it I either have to reset , power off and on or turn off and change for 10 mins
First ever headset so don’t have much comparison but great quality
Don’t usually leave reviews but if you’re on the fence about buying this I’d say do it. I wanted a headset for the new call of duty and was willing to go up to around 200, I’ve had turtle beach 700 gen 2s for just over a year and wanted an upgrade. (Mainly for footstep accuracy)
I bought some Astro a50s but I wasn’t a fan of the all the quality was good but couldn’t justify the price. I got Astro a30s recently that we’re good quality but the phone app was buggy and you had to stay connected to your phone to use the eq and if you got a phone call it would minimise game sound.
After extensive YouTube research I came across these. Now I never really thought SteelSeries as a strong headset contender (my bad) but for the price they’re matching products I’ve previously had that were over 200 without the annoyance.
Yes there’s an app but after the initial update you dont have to use it again (I haven’t) there is a game to chat wheel (only on the Xbox version I believe) which is vital for me because I dont want to be in the middle of a game and have to go into an app to change the setting or whatever. Usually I want flip to mute mics for ease but the button is easy to press and the mic has a cool little light that turns red so you know when it’s on or not.
But the main thing is the audio quality right? Now it’s hard to explain but yes these are perfect, I can hear the difference between above and below and not just if they’re infront or behind but how far they are which is what my turtle beach lacked. I wouldn’t use these for anything else other than gaming though.
Some negatives are the mic isn’t great audio quality (physically it’s good quality the retractable is a nice feature) I personally don’t like the ear cup material but you can buy some leatherette ones from the SteelSeries website which was what my turtle beach had that I loved but they are pricey, apparently this helps reduce more of the background noise but I don’t have them yet so I can’t say for sure. For some reason they’ve made a usb c dongle for a series x headset when it doesn’t have a usb c port but the adapter does come with it so it’s kinda whatever really.
So that’s about everything you can customise the headband and the headset covers on the outside again from the SteelSeries website if you’re into that.
I made this review to help people like me because I know how hard it is to find a decent headset and reviews don’t want to say if it’s bad half the time but I will be keeping this headset as it’s what I was looking for and actually less than I’d pay for it so I would recommend this headset. Hope this helps you guys out 🙂
Easily the best headset I’ve had before in all aspects except for the comfort part my ears hurt a little after 6-8 hours of use
