I been using for about a year now and i wont ever go back. you need to put on charge every night to make sure you can game entire day after but thats the only downside. there is 0 delay for audio to reach you unlike bluetooth. headset is also very easy to set up. its pretty much plug and play
Ive been using this headset on a daily basis now for a few months and I have zero complaints, they are comfortable to wear, sounds d great and just tge right amount of noise cancellation for me. I can hear my partner chatting next to me but can turn her down if needed 🙂
I Bought these, after a lot of indecision & procrastination, over the newer model as the reviews for those were a bit “meh”, to free me from the tangle of cable, and to enable fairly swift change from PS5 to PC.
Over what I was using (Hyper X, these were great too), the sound quality is like listening to speakers instead of headphones – by this I mean there is depth (at least while using the Steel Series Sonar App, haven’t tried on PC without).
3D Audio is great on PS5 (haven’t tried on PC yet), only tiny downside there is you’ll need to plug in the included transmitter/receiver dongle, which is hardly a problem. I was a bit dubious, although even the PS5 set up app is pretty clear as to where things are coming from, but in Call of Duty Footsteps, gunfire etc. all seem to be coming from where you’d expect in the 3D environment, rather than just left or right.
Gaming is brilliant, Listening to music just blew me away & prompted me to write this review.
PROs:
Audio Quality, well balanced
7.1 Virtual is awesome
Gaming is great
Music listening is amazing
Sonar App is good,
Head strap adjustment was a doddle
all the controls are sensible size & well positioned
CONs:
not sure if I can connect to iPhone (but don’t really care as I have other devices for that)
a tad expensive, but I don’t mind paying for quality when it delivers.
haven’t come across anything yet that has given cause for concern.
so after a few months of using I’ve noticed that the battery is not as good as it used to be maybe getting 10-12 hours use on full charge on low volumes for 200 id expect a bit longer personally also i don’t know why on such an expensive headset they wouldn’t have usb type c it does annoy me a little, although the comfort of these headphones are phenomenal along with the quality of sound although sometimes for in game chat my audio is noticeably poorer than when i use discord all in all a great headset and would recommend if on sale.
I wanted a wireless headset because I killed my old headset wire with my desk chair wheels. This appeared a cheap alternative from a reputable brand and it came with a usb a to usb c converter so I could use it on my toaster of a pc. The sound quality is good, better than a cheap no name headset but it does lack a certain clarity and base if you’re into that. But the sound is very clear and bright, good for late night lofi and sims sessions, terrible for punchy gunfire.
Battery life is frankly amazing, I’ve owned the headset two months using it daily and I’ve charged it twice?? I believe they may be using magic.
The sheer amount of dials, buttons and wheels on the headset issss a little annoying, you hit the wrong dial a lot. Also for us smaller headed people, the ear cups are m a s s i v e and after a while the headset can feel quite heavy. That said it’s pretty well made and I’ve yet to encounter any issues that others have spoken off. If you wear glasses though this headset will introduce you to a new level of pain, it presses the arms into what feels like your brain itself
The drivers for this headset do ‘drive’ me mad. The ai surround deadens all sounds and makes the headset a mushy sounding mess. The discord/game function means you will have 5 different audio devices in your sound centre and my PC doesn’t run audio through any of them except the bog standard headphone channel. The ability to tune your mic is good though, especially the preset options which can make you sound like a guy, 10/10 less weird comments when I’m using it.
Tldr: if you need a cheap wireless headset, this is a good option. Unless you have glasses, then don’t bother.
These have probably been my favourite headphones ever. The chat/game audio splitter it comes with is easy to use, you just turn the dial. The audio quality is amazing and the best part is they fit so comfortably. Ski band adjustable was a first for me, but it fits great and sinceyo can make small minute adjustments, they fit everyone (maybe not kids though idk). Only issue apart from breaking is they will slide off slowly when you look down but just minor.
After about 2 years, because of the odd unique style steelseries does, the right earphone came off the frame. They still work and I can still use them as normal its just ashame to do everytime but I am keeping them as spare just in case.
Works quite well on my pc especially with sonar software but the earpads that come aren’t the comfiest becuase my ears start hurting a couple hours in when wearing. My other protein lest her headphones didn’t hurt at all even when wearing for multiple hours. Build quality has been sturdy for me, it has dropped of the desk multiple times and Is unaffected. The mute button seems to stick on mine which is not really a problem but just a quality issue.
Firstly I’d like to start off by saying I’ve been using the SteelSeries Arctis pro headset for a couple of months now and I must say it’s very comfortable. easily Adjustable to however you like it. Also the Microphone is outstanding. the speakers on this Headset are magnificent I couldn’t have asked or searched for any better. the price for this headset also seems about right.
– I have made a scratch on my headset but that’s my fault I’m crying….
Overall this headset is 10/10 from me.
got the arctis pro for pc with no gamedac or anything extra, but it did come with the chatmix dial which has been a godsend for those voice chats where you never know how loud people will be! I used to use an analog arctis 3 with a creative soundcard, the soundcard was because I didn’t like the old steelseries software and it caused crashes. it was a really good combination for the price and has been hard to get away from, but now it’s getting old and there never was much bass.
So my experience installing this one, the software is more bloated than it used to be but it seems to not cause any crashes which is an improvement over the last one. It is essential to set the equalizer with these! it’s hidden behind a few menus but it’s absolutely worth finding, as the upper mids really needed tweaking up for me, otherwise it couldn’t hold a candle even to the arctis 3 setup. the other sliders are just personal preference, added some bass which is a big upgrade. the sound quality is slightly better than before, which is hard to do considering this is USB and all of the postprocessing is done in steelseries software. But the bass is much improved in strength and quality, it really adds a depth to anything it plays back and the surround is much better than the virtual surround I used to have.
So it’s a very nice headset to listen to, I am told the mic sounds good and it’s quite easy to set up.
Super long wire to connect to devices. I use it for my PS5 and normally play games like COD and Fifa. Really clear audio. The mic does pick up some background noise but you can adjust that in the game settings. Audio 10/10. Comfort 9/10
After returning a faulty ASUS ROG Delta S I purchased this headset and i am very glad i did, the speakers and very intelligent and you can adjust them to increase bass, treble and also set the stereo and mic level. I must say the retractable mic is great for when you are eating and don’t want to get the mic dirty or something, the overall build quality is great. However if you have glasses or a small head then you may want to be careful as at times it can be quite tight. But Overall probably THE BEST gaming headset you can buy.
Been using this for gaming and work.
Sound quality is amazing and the dedicated mute button comes in handy during work calls. The RGB lights are a nice touch, especially as you can change the colour of the mute light indicator.
The surround sound works great. Definitely one of the best i have tested from a pair of headphones. But it is really pushing the tech boundaries of 2 speakers, obviously it’s no where near having a full surround system.
Wished that it had adjustment options when contected to my phone. Would love to mess around with the EQ, Bass, surround sound, etc.
If you’re after the best hi res quality sound, this is the headset to get. I had my HyperX Revolver S for just over 4 years and the sound quality on that was amazing, however the Artis Pro beats it, not by much but it’s enough for you to notice. It’s just over 50 cheaper than the HyperX as well, so it’s a no brainer. Not only does it have quality sound but it’s very comfortable as well. I was contemplating between getting the GameDAC but there’s really no point if your motherboard can support hi res sound and it saves you 60 as well. Overall it’s a 5/5 from me!
Great headset would recommend, although – the mixer located halfway down the wire will always seem to trail on the floor or somewhere out of reach. As the mixer is on a spinning dial it is prone to being knocked off of what you set it to.
If the mixer was located at either end of the cable this would be a perfect product. But the amount of times I’ve had to locate and then adjust the mixer due to it being knocked out of place means I can only rate this 4*.
These headphones are great, the mic quality is top notch and the sound is to die for.. I’m no tech whiz but i have owned a good few pairs of headphones and these are definitely the best i’ve ever owned. Takes a while to get used to the headphone strap thing i suppose but really not that much of a problem, would recommend these to anyone wanting a great pair of headphones and to anyone who wants to hear every drop of sound and be immersed in gameplay.
Excellent headset, quality sound for gaming. Customisable light options for games. Would have gone wireless but cost is expensive compared to wired. Only reason it scored 4 stars is due to manage to microphone on arrival. Doesn’t impact quality and covered by the foam but ideally a new headset should arrive in perfect conditio
Comfortable, well-built, decent sound quality, look good, good features.
Only reason I can’t give them full marks is that on the lowest volume setting (dial cranked down to minimum) sound only plays from one ear, meaning I have to play around with both headphone volume and application volume if I want to listen to something very quietly. Minor point, still recommend.
This is perhaps one of the most versatile headsets I have ever owned. Not only does it use lossless wireless, it also supports a bluetooth connection so you can connect directly to your phone or laptop without needing the transmitter base.
It is very comfortable thanks to the strap that at first I almost did not want to buy it due to the strap. However, strap was easy to adjust (far easier than I expected) and it only took me two attempts to get it just right. The strap also makes the headset feel a lot lighter on the head as you do not have anything hard pressing resting on the top of your head. The earpads bend all sorts of ways so you can get that perfect angle you want to have it on your ears to suit the shape of anyone’s head.
Comfort aside, the hot swap batteries work so well, shockingly I do get the advertised +-10 to 9 hours of usage per charge per battery. The batteries charge very fast in the transmitter base and tend to be fully charged long before your current charge is empty on the battery you are using (fun fact: the design of the batteries is pretty much identical to that of the much loved G7 Logitech gaming mouse, so if you have used that then this will feel all too familiar!)
In terms of sound quality this is far better than any headset I have ever owned and I think you actually will not be able to find a headset that can beat the sound quality on this device!
The reason I say that is that the drivers in this headset are clearly designed to perform well regardless what you toss at them – music, movies or games it just can take it and then some!
Using the official SteelSeries software you can get the most out of it though and can setup mutiple set sound profiles so if you prefer it one way for one game or for music and then another way for a different game or for movies for example you can just rightclick on the SteelSeries app and select the profile you have setup in advance.
The sound really changes drastically depending on the settings you put in the app but regardless of settings you can really hear how well these drivers perform. The output is just such a high fidelity regardless of what you are listening to that nothing can outperform this headset.
There is also a clear distinction when you enable and disable the surround sound not just in games but also even in music. If you are listening to any music that has an orchestral background for example the surround really helps you hear the depth of the orchestra versus the surround off it will sound a lot more bland.
This is also why this headset shines in that any audiophile headset a- will not have a built in microphone (which all my friends on Discord say sounds extremely clear) and b- will not perform equally good on all sound usage. Audiophile headsets tend to perform best at music but then if you give them a game or a movie their performance just is not as good as a gaming headset.
But where previous gaming headsets failed at music, this one really shines especially with the simulated surround sound using DTS X v2.0 it just somehow processes the stereo sound in such a way that your ears perceive it as being far deeper than a regular stereo headset.
I have used other surround headsets but DTS-X v2.0 just is a massive improvement in the technology over previous surround headsets.
The specs speak for themselves if you compare them to audiophile headsets you really see how great the drivers are in this headset added on to this what DTS X v2.0 can get out of them is why so many people rave about this product.
The sound quality is amazing even straight out of the box. Playing R6s with these for the first time was absolutely amazing. I personally use the performance preset for gaming and the music preset for listening to music on PC. The surround sound is absolutely perfect basically giving me wall hacks because of how clearly I could hear the footsteps and how well I heard their phones ring directionally when using Dokkaebi. Overall this headset is absolutely amazing and it was worth every penny.
This headset is great for any type of gamer and due to its focus on amazing sound quality, can give some game changing advantages especially in online multiplayer games.
The only complaint I have for this product is the uncomfortable aspect of it. Rather than going for the simple ‘pull the headset’ manoeuvre to perfectly fit your head size they instead decided to go for an extremely tedious, uncomfortable and frustrating belt design which requires you to basically take the entire headset off each time you want to adjust the size; and even so, it’s still uncomfortable and squeezes so hard that you hear your self speak with high bass from the tightness of the headset.
Apart from that I highly recommend. If this headset had the more traditional extension manoeuvre for fitting different heads over the more tedious belt I would definitely rate 9-10 but unfortunately due to this I will rate it a 6-7.
Overall the headset is great and I like the sound quality better than my hyper x cloud. There are a lot of options to tweak the sound settings to get it how you like but I find the surround sound is clearer which is great in fps games.
The sound quality has a nice richness to it and makes listening to music very enjoyable. A nice deep base that doesn’t drown out the rest of the sounds.
Based on sound quality alone I’d recommend.
The downsides, I wouldn’t say I have a big head but my god this thing clamps down hard. One thing I hated about the hyper x was it felt so weird and loose on my head and now these ones are the complete opposite. I find that long gaming sessions are uncomfortable due to the way it sits on my ears and head. I did have a similar issue with some logitech headset in the past but overtime it got better so I’m hoping the same happens here.
The mic is retractable into the headset, although you do have to have it quite close to your mouth when in use, but apparently the quality is pretty good.
I like the dial that comes with it, it’s not a volume dial but a mixer (not sure if that’s the right word for it) it allows you to hear more of the game or more of the chat for example like discord. I find it really useful when playing games that require teamwork but also listening for audio clues. I use it all the time.
It’s a fantastic headset but a little uncomfortable for people with larger heads.
Pros
+ great sound quality
+ lots of tweaks
+ sound priority dial
Cons
– uncomfortable out of the box
– lighting options are a little on the scarce side
– requires some work initially to get the sound how you like i
Definitely the best headphones for the price range, my old headphones the turtle beach z60s had a problem with the head band snapping in places from repetitive flexing. These headphones definitely dont have this problem.
Pros:
Sound quality
Versatility
Bass
RGB (if you like that sort of thing)
Cons:
Price
Not wireless
So first of all i should start off by saying it comes with a piece of software for you to alter the sound to how you like it and set different profiles for music, games, movie watching etc. Ability to adjust mids, bass, dB and much more including the colour of the headphone’s light. It can be set to scroll through set colours, every colour, fast or slow. Or as i have it just plain red to match my pc.
The cons are pretty self explanatory; it could be cheaper. In a perfect world it would be, but we arent in a perfect world. And it could be wireless; they of course do offer a wireless version but if i didnt include that in my cons then i only would have had 1.
I was probably one of this first to purcahse this as my confirmation of sale came through 2 minutes of it got released on its debut date,
Iam really happy with it. and its less complicated than the Astro A50 gen 3.. I did love my Astro A50 but i had to send it back as for the type of gaming i was doing i needed reasurance that i wasn’t going to get any sound drop outs.. And i did have the original Gen1 A50’s that lasted over three years.
I heard loads of good things about steel series so yeah i went with these, even the software didnt get released(updated) when i bought these thats how new they were, And now I am hapy i made the right choice going wired and with Steel Series Arctis Pro…
iam hoping that at some stage that the GameDac will be sold separately, as doing this will potentially get more people to buy this range and being able to upgrade, has gotta be a plus…
Theres are helpful videos out there on YouTube on how to set this up with PC, PS4 and XBOLIX, and it only take a minute, a big thumbs up froma very happy costumer…. deffo worth a buy, sounds are crystal cups are very breathable no sweat at all , micraphone is very senstitve too 🙂
