Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 – Joystick and Throttle
Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 – Joystick and Throttle for PS5 / PS4 / PC
Realistic and ergonomic joystick
In real life, pilots use a stick and throttle as flight controls, as these are the most effective in terms of performance and precision. T. Flight Hotas 4 provides this same level of realism.
The joystick’s unique, ergonomic design adapts to all types of flight (aerial combat, space adventure, civil flight, etc). The large hand rest helps players keep their hand in a very stable and relaxed position, to respond to the subtlest motions.
Adjust the stick’s resistance to suit your needs and preferences. The base is weighted, to offer enhanced stability during gaming sessions.
Detachable throttle
The joystick features a full-size throttle which you can use to easily control the acceleration of your aircraft.
The throttle is detachable and may be positioned in 2 different ways, either:
– Detached and separated from the joystick (to recreate authentic piloting conditions)
or
– Attached to the joystick (for greater stability and to take up less space)
Dual rudder system
The joystick features a rudder function, which in a plane corresponds to the pedals used by the pilot to turn the steering, allowing the plane to pivot around its vertical axis (therefore making the plane turn left or right). This rudder function is accessible on your joystick by rotating the handle (with integrated locking system) or by progressive tilting lever.

Arrived earlier than expected – next day.
Well packed, easy to install and use. Better price than in other stores.
So far so good, will update in few feeks time once had more chance to use
My first flight sim stick. Didn’t know how I would enjoy it really easy to use and great fun.
Controller is great. Had to get a replacement due to first one faulty but this one works perfect.
This is the best way to fly. Makes it a so much better experience while gaming. Very easy to use you can customize mapping your buttons. You can change sensitivity of the stick and the throttle. You can click them both together I prefer apart. Very impressive piece of kit here. The ruder is a twist the stick.
Using it for the flight sim on xbox. Works perfectly
These PC/XBox flight controls are great, they are obviously not top of the range, they offer anything from a good introduction to flight controls, all the way through to a reasonable option for everyone other than the enthusiast. The price is great, which you cannot get away from – you are only going to get a certain amount of flight controls for this amount of money – I got them in the Boxing day sale, so the price was very favourable indeed.
The Good
=========
They can be separated, albeit with a wire between.
They can be screwed together for stability (Allen key provided).
The separate rudder system can be added.
The rudder in the joystick can be turned off.
The movement in the joystick can be tightened or loosened.
It works with XBox and PC – flick the switch before plugging in.
The controller feels reasonable and stable.
The self calibration works most of the time – keep it level when plugging in.
The support website from Thrustmaster is useful.
You get a Windows driver (& control panel) and firmware updates are issued.
Good value for money.
What you do not get and cannot expect at this price point
==============================================
Not wireless
Not force feedback
Self calibration can occasionally lead to your plane veering off to the side and a reduced turning circle in the opposite direction.
The throttle cannot be fully detached from the joystick.
The number of officially supported games is limited.
All of the limitations I have listed are inline with what you would expect for the price. I got these controls for Microsoft Flight Sim and to be fair, if that was the only game supported, I would not have hesitated with the purchase and got them anyway. The number of games officially supported is small. There are control layout diagrams on the support website for the supported games, which is useful (PC and XBox controls are not the same for the same game). It should be noted that XBox Game Pass players cannot use these controls for cloud gaming, you must download the game – for XBox players, you need the game downloaded, so the Series S or X is essential for this controller on Flight Sim, no cloud gaming on the One X, PC or tablet it appears.
Apart from a few minor limitations, there is much to like and they are perfectly viable until you want to spend 3 or 4 times the asking price on something aimed at the enthusiast.
Got this at almost 50% off, and it is a must for Microsoft Flight Sim.
After struggling to “fly” using the standard Xbox controller, this has been brilliant.
Just ensure you get the right model – there are different ones for Xbox and PlayStatio
This kickstarted my interest in flight simulator games. I use mine exclusively for Elite Dangerous on pc and it works great, plenty of buttons for all the controls.
It however, isn’t perfect. I would prefer the start and select button on the joystick or throttle instead of the base, I think higher priced sets do have more buttons such as a keypad which might’ve been what I need. This is still well worth the 60 I paid and I can feel it’ll last a while until I feel the need to replace it with something more expensive.
I hate when you order a ‘Prime’ product only to find out after that the ‘Prime’ is nowt but a fib. My ‘Prime’ order arrived 5 days after it was ordered. Should be in the category’Will arrive eventually’
The product itself is brilliant and a definite but, if your in no rush.
I had an older model of this for pc/ps4, with an “upgrade” to xbox x I needed one for both pc/xbox so this appeared a good purchase. in fact is better than the older model in that the pedals can be plugged into it directly rather than via an adapter to another USB port.
I mostly use it for simulators and hotas games and I find it works great for the money. My son also loves it for playing star wars games. overall a great purchase
Great first contact with this kind of peripheral. Feels great holding the flight stick and controlling your aircraft/spaceship. Adds a layer of depth to the experience that was hidden before.
I needed a joystick, something with a separate throttle (I’m tired of having to work around a throttle on the same stick).
The good:
1.The item comes out as one block; stick and throttle stuck together and looks a little naff, but you can then separate them away ‘chest-width’ apart which feels much, much better.
2. Installing the software was easy. Go find it on their site. Do it first before connecting the HOTAS to the pc. Then just check the calibration to make sure all’s working, as it did straight off with me.
3.The feel and handgrip is excellent. They clearly made some effort on how a man’s hand grip to a handle. It really fits into my right hand like a glove and my left hand rests on the throttle nicely. I actually felt ready for some space-flying (on X4) with this.
4. I ran this on X4 which took a little trouble calibrating due to X4 having different profiles. I had cursor drift until I removed the G533 headphone USB. I found the right profile (I think it was on the Saitek X52 pro) and it all worked great after that.
5. It’s very responsive and can be adjusted so the stick is a little stiffer.
6. There’s a nice centreing catch on the left hand Hotas so you know when you are in the Stop-to-Reverse position.
7. Buttons are all well placed and there are plenty of them on both sticks.
Not so good:
1. Feels a little fragile in an adult man’s hands. The HOTAS itself, while it fits the hands great, do seem a little small. I worry a bit that overwork could break it in time.
2. Not much weight. No suction cups. Easily moves. There are screw holes in the bottom for clamps? To fix it to a table/frame? I don’t fancy drilling holes in my desk though…
3. The centreing feels like it will loosen over time. I have to keep a watch on that.
4. The handle could use some kind of grip texture. It’s totally smooth/slippery. I’m considering adding a bicycle grip covering to the left hand stick rest, maybe on the main stick too.
5. Buttons feel inbetween good and possibly tacky.
6. Don’t like the PlayStation logo, wish it was removable, (I’m a PC man). Maybe I’ll paint it over in black.
Overall:
A surprisingly ergonomic and comfortable stick. It feels really good in the hands despite its smallish size. I could use this for hours easily. I actually enjoy flying around in this in X4. All buttons are easily reachable. It feels a little weak though and I wonder on its longevity. Also, I don’t like the PlayStation Logo, as I’m on a PC.
4 Stars for now. Will see what it’s like in a few months.
Bought this to use on MSFS (flight sim) but ended up using to replay Ace Combat 7 all the way through to Ace difficulty, really aid’s with the imirsion and fun and controllability. Now on to Warthunder which is cool game but I can use with this game but it’s horrible trying to aim compared to using a keyboard and mouse (for me anyway). So good fun with some games and I have used briefly with Microsoft flight sim 2020 and it’s great but I’m just not really into the game, I prefer dogfighting etc to larping as a commercial airbus Pilot. Suppose I’m hoping for a new AceCombat to come out to really get more use out of this.
Got flight simulator for the xbox and thought I’d treat myself to this. Its a must for flying. Only problem is the throttle is a little loose, but fixed it by adding a small peice of plastic at the side to give it more resistance. Other than that its one of the best buys I’ve brought. 9 out of 10.
This was a great price I am really happy with it. I play on Flight Sim and Elite Dangerous, this controller does everything I need it to do. I like the quality and it sits really well on my computer desk. the only thing I would say is on the throttle it clicks halfway when pushed forward or backward. That’s only a minor issue though.
I purchased the Thrustmaster solely to use with Flight Simulator on GamePass, I haven’t used it on any other game. Please read on if this is why you’re considering purchasing.
There is no doubt that use of this control stick significantly enhances the simulation experience, going back to the joy pad feels very unnatural now. It’s responsive and allows a much higher degree of accuracy but more importantly, this already great simulation is now even more immersing. It’s not without its issues however
First of, while at this price point (79.99) it’s not bad, but it does feel a bit ‘plasticky’, particularly the throttle with could also do with a greater degree of resistance and longer lead. You will also need to prepare yourself for some calibration issues. This is not fault of the control stick but Flight Simulator; which will not detect the correct inputs when assigning button functions, I relied on numerous videos on YouTube to guide me through calibrating all the critical functions. Once I felt I had calibrated as best as I could, the cockpit camera and operating all the internal switches was still very difficult. For me the best solution was to use the Thrustmaster with a mouse, this set up feels right for me and preferable to the stick and gamepad. Also be prepared (until a fix is sorted) for sensitivity settings to be reset every time the game restarts.
Overall I am more than happy with this, and when used in conjunction with a mouse (or pad) it’s excellent for Flight Simulator.
I’ve read a few reviews from people saying that setting up custom buttons and controls was difficult. I didn’t find this an issue at all and the preset layout worked well for me on MSFS.
One small gripe is that the cable between stick and throttle control could be a bit longer. The best setup I’ve found is having the joystick on a side desk with the throttle on my lap.
Twist rudder control is a nice feature and very intuitive.
Good quality for the price.
I bought this for flight sim on the xbox and i had to find a video on youtube from a guy who had good settings and on how to change the button mapping as it isnt great out of the box.
So i did his settings until there is a update.
Remember if you do your own settings , start a new profile and dont wipe the default settings.
Taking off is good and the throttle is abit loose like many others have said.
I use a wired mouse to do the instruments in the cockpit and i still use the control for other controls.
The only thing i am annoyed about is i have star wars and ace combat on the PS4 and you cant use it and they said they cant make one that has a xbox one to PS4 switch.
They all include PC which i dont have or use.
Cable ia long enough and i have joined them together.
The price isnt cheap and they have upped the price because of flight sim on the xbox.
Make sure you buy from amazon eu as i ordered from the amazon uk one and they never got any stock in.
So i cancelled after a month of waiting with amazon uk.
Happy flying!
Very good entry level option for console users, I’ve only tried it on Elite Dangerous so far and it seems very intuitive with how it assigns buttons to key controls in game. I used it on my lap with the throttle and stick joined together and it’s sturdy and comfortable.
My only gripe isn’t with the product but with the difficulty of getting hold of one and pricing fluctuations. With Microsoft Flight Simulator console release around the corner I’d had this item on my wishlist for weeks and it was proving quite difficult to get. Finally nabbed one but the price had increased compared to the wishlist price and then decreased again on the day I actually received it but to complicate matters further I then discovered it’s available even cheaper still direct from the same reselle
I’ve been on the lookout for this set since Flight Simulator 2020 was released, but the price kept putting me off as it seemed to wander between 90 and 160.
When it came up at 62 I jumped and don’t regret it. It is so much easier to use with FS2020 than either the keyboard or a more basic joystick.
It loses a point, though, because it seems to be designed for the PS4 first and PC second, with the buttons having PS4 markings. This makes it a bit of a guessing game to figure out how to map the buttons to each game, as they refer to “button 2”, “button 4” etc. yet the joystick’s buttons are marked with a triangle, square, etc.
Not insurmountable, but a little guide for configuring on a PC would have been useful.
Great hotas for getting into flight type gaming, I use it for Elite dangerous and it works wonderfully well but keep in mind you MUST UPDATE THE FIRMWARE BEFORE USING IT. Tried it with warthunder and I can only reccomend you invest time into setting up your control layout. It feels good quality, has a dial to alter stick resistance, thrusters feels responsive and positive and it returns to centre easily but not without your say so. It can be split to a distance or joined as one unit, it has xbox/windows controls integrated. I can’t really fault this Hotas it fits the price bracket and does exactly what you want it to do. If like me this is your entry level system it’s a great starting point that has plenty of options but isn’t overwhelming. Thoroughly recommended it.
I haven’t owned a joystick since the 70’s but purchased this in preparation for the upcoming Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 on Xbox.
There’s not much I can add to all the reviews out there. I liked the size, the ergonomics and the build quality. The joystick feels solid and responsive and the progressive power of the throttle helps to make the games more immersive.
What I didn’t like was the ridiculously short cable between the throttle and the joystick. I would imagine most people would enjoy using these as separates placed each side of you so why Thrustmaster would make it too short is beyond me.
Still, it’s a must have addition if you want to add an extra level of enjoyment to your flight games/sims and I’d recommend it regardless of the short cable.
Yaw (twist function) is a known issue.
Contact with thrustmaster and amazon and was given replacement for free however this is a common isuue that will reoccur. No other option for xbox currently so will have to keep replacing as needed. Apart from this issue I have no complaints with the product. Cable between the throttle and stick could’ve been a tad longer. Feels fairly cheap. Not a bad product overall.
bought this specifically for Elite Dangerous on both pc and xbox.
Build
seems pretty good/ strong build. can be split into 2 parts. On my pc set up I have left it as one as I play elite on pc from my sofa as well as my xbox one x.
PC – had it for 4 days now and I love it. I have played Elite on pc every chance I get. I have yet to fail an interdiction. Not once have I been forced into a dog fight by interception. Previously I played with an xobox controller and I pulled out of supercruise about 50 % of the time. But now I can easily beat any interception. The controller isnt quite set up right in game so I have had to set up some keys, which is a pain. But I do like it over joypad and certainly better than mouse only control which I found impossible.
Xbox – review to come later, not played it yet.
Throttle has become a tad lose. Cant find a way to tighten it up, so a gentle knock will send my ship forward really easily.
good so fa
