Lovely looking watch that’s just a bit different. The whole screen is backlit at the touch of a button and with a bit of setting up it will always guide you home
My wife bought ths watch for my birthday (leather version). The only problem I had with it was the strap simply wouldn’t “sit” on my wrist. It would just turn and be really uncomfortable. I took it to our local jeweller so they could change the strap. Unfortunately they broke one of the retaining pins. I wasn’t bothered, accidents happen. She said she’d order the part from Timex. They promptly told her that this is an “obsolete” watch and washed their hands of it!
I checked on the internet and it appears that the Timex customer service is the worst ever! Our jeweller sent it to her watchmaker who engineered a new pin. To be told that this was an obsolete watch after only just receiving it was crazy.
There was a slight issue with the watch battery but the seller sent out a new one before I returned it, with no question so not only is the watch great looking, the service was fantastic. New watched received and it is perfect. Thank you.
Finally I purchased a better watch and this watch Is stunning.
I had a Timex watch years ago and that watch went through everything from bathing while wearing as well as a couple of dives I was doing back then and all this In salt water.
I would not recommend wearing this watch in salt water, but the one I had before was awesome and everyone used to comment on it if I was seen wearing it,
Timex is a name you know you can trust, you know you get what you pay from and believe me I know I have had my full worth of cheapo watches that just never last.
Shark watches had a few of them and all basically packed up within eighteen months or less.
To be quite honest I’m not using the compass or anything else but I never know when I might need it so its there.
I love the indiglo on these watches so Timex I’m back!
I received mine without a top cover, luckily there were just a few scratches on the plastic screen protector. The default strap is really uncomfortable, hard as wood.
Setting it up is pretty straightforward, but confusing – also there are no printed instructions – you’ll have to search online for a setup guide.
The rotating bezel is also underrated, really useful with the compass if you’re into reading maps.
Overall great features for the price, but really poorly packaged.
The version (case, strap, dial) I purchased is not a available in the Timex store so I think it is NOS or maybe a return? When it arrived it was in a flimsy brown envelop, there was a message printed on it about saving the planet by not using a box. Inside the envelop the outer white sleve was open and the watch box front had been removed and reversed leaving the watch exposed, thankfully it was still cable tied to the stand but the plastic crown retainer was missing and the watch was running. Thankfully it was undamaged and runs great.
I have decided to keep it and have already ordered a replacement brushed ss strap to better match the case and bezel.
Alot of stuff going on with the watch and can be a fit confusing to operate but the look of it is very nice. The ideal mix of red and black.
I got this watch due to that it would be handy for work.
I like the look, and fits well on the arm.
Time is spot on,
Temp is really good when you remove the watch for a few minutes.
Compass seems to work.
The tide you do need to reset at least weekly (it drifts off daily), which is a shame and costs its point.
The only other critical point would be replacement straps are slightly annoying due to the 16mm width, as the one with it is good quality, but personally I enjoy swapping straps out for work.
I bought this as a present for my son and he picked it because of the extra things this watch can do, I think it looks stylish.
I watches with gadgets, particularly analogue. I also wanted a watch with a tide indicator. This one fits the bill and it attractive. It isn’t overly expensive and is well made. This is the first Timex I have owned and I’m very pleased with it. It’s not too heavy or bulky and I find it comfortable to wear.
I have had the watch 1 week and can say I love the look, it is a great watch, my only reason for the drop to a 4 star is the strap is abit to small and only just goes around my wrist, I am 15 st at 5′ 10 but do have large wrist, just wished there was an option to have a bigger strap
I had to go on youtube to find out how to use/reset the watch.once that was done is good.
Easy to set up, but the only thing I don’t like is the rubber strap, so I’m going to change it. But all in all it does what is says
I love this watch tho I cannot seem to sort compass out when I need to calibration. But still great watch.
I loved this watch especially at the reduced sale price made fairly good value for money . Perfect weight, suits any outfit from sport-casual-dress. Nice to get different feature rather than the usual stop watch, steps, distance which always seems to be the extra features these days. Though I like the features mostly I’ve found that setting the declination angle can be tricky even by inst and I’ve had to recalibrate the compass few times(though its painless and quick). My only “meh” about it is the indigo light. Looks stunning but only good for seeing time in the dark. Though the 4th hand for the functions is visible the figures, gauges aren’t so you can’t read them. Overall though I’d recommend it.
Love this watch, I live near the sea and the Tide function works great for me. The watch keeps perfect time and looks great.
Extremely Good Value for Money
Highly Recommended
For the money the watch is very good value.
Make sure you go online to set the watch up correctly
I bought this watch as its quite unique as it
Can measure temperature and tide, and also has a compass, all of these work quite
Well, my only concern is the strap as it is quite uncomfortable, and here is the but,
The strap length from lug to lug is only 16mm meaning finding another strap quite hard as many start at 18mm, other then that it’s a good watch.
I am a woman and had to buy this “mens” watch to have these features. No such watch available for women . Why Timex do you think women do not need to know compass direction, tides, temperature, etc? @TImex: please can you get to the 21 century.
I still haven’t found the online manual for it yet but playing about with it Ive found out how to use it .
I thoroughly researched this watch before I bought it. The huge appeal was the tide and temperature indicators – unique, brave, a bold step for any watch manufacturer and useful to someone who moves over water between a mainland and an island. You don’t always know if the tide is coming in or going out or at what level it is. And sometimes it is useful to know which point of the compass you are heading though there is usually a compass on a boat. Nevertheless it can come in useful. And the watch does not disappoint with these functions. I love this watch and it offers more than an overpriced 5,000 branded chronograph (pointless) watch. But why oh why does the second hand miss its marks. So annoying and so sloppy for a manufacturer of this longevity and status. Someone should be sacked. If I was the CEO I would personally undertake the execution of whoever was responsible or if I was on the board insist the CEO resign over this. Aggghhh! And the numerals are a bit on the tiny side. That said I was warned and bought it anyway and I’m glad I did. I am Willing to overlook these unnecessary weaknesses. It’s a good, which could have been great, watch.
I purchased this watch on Amazon twice from different sellers. I sent the first watch back because it was obviously a Customer Return. It was the last one from this particular seller and upon Amazon accepting the return, the seller showed this watch as 1 Available again. When I received the 2nd watch from a different seller on Amazon it was also obviously a Customer Return. I decided to keep this watch as I felt there was no point returning it as I would probably get another Customer Return.
The watch was of interest to me as it displays Tide Times, Temperature and has a built in Compass. It displays Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Date as well as having 3 Push Pieces and a 2 position Crown which also activates the Indiglo Backlight. If the watch was Brand New it should have been fitted with a Crown Guard so that the battery would not be depleted whilst in stock / transit. Neither watches had this guard upon delivery. I am reasonably intelligent but it is a bit much for Timex to think that setting up the Compass & Tide Times is simple as neither watch included Instructions on how to set this watch up. It wouldn’t surprise me that the lack of these Instructions is why Customers seem to Return this watch. I was able to locate Generic Instructions from the Timex Website which should have been included with the watch at the point of purchase.
As this 2nd watch looked Cosmetically New and I was now able to set it up, I decided to keep it.
It is quite a Large, Satin Black cased watch which seems to work fairly well. That said this is more of a Novelty watch rather than a Serious Professional Instrument and as such does seem expensive. I do like the Black Silicon type Strap with its Red Reference mark above the 12-O-Clock position, is comfortable to wear and fits my large wrist well. The bi-directional Bezel has a very smooth action and is nicely marked up. The Push Pieces work as per the Instructions and the Indiglo Backlight does its job in low light conditions. Common to many Quartz watches in this price bracket, it is a little annoying that the Second Hand does not line up with the dial Minute markers. That said the dial is well printed and has a very interestingly complicated appearance. Despite this being somewhat of a Novelty watch, it is still a clever piece of kit, which I really do like.
However, despite both watches being Customer returns, No Instructions, an Uncertain Battery Life and the Disappointment of returning, I will still award 4 Stars as I do like the watch even if I do have issues with both sellers on Amazon.
This Timex watch has a really cool look, like a vintage instrument of sort (Reminds me of the old altimeter in a leather etu we used as geography students in the 80’s). My wife calls it my “National Geographic watch”.
In addition to the nice looks it also seems to work well. It has a quality feel to it. I read that some has had problems with things falling off, but it has not happend to me). I have a wrist of about 19cm in circumference, and the watch does not look too large on me. I have two rather standard sport diving watches and both feel heavier than this. So far, the compass works very well. The thermometer is, of course, measuring the arm temperature when on the wrist, and the watch must be taken off for it to work properly. Then it seems to be fairly correct. I have no use for the high/low tide indicator. The indiglo light illuminates the whole dial (except the centigrade scale of some reason), which makes it very easy to read at night (In fact, almost easier than in daylight. In daylight I often confuse the minute hand with the rear end of the compass needle)
All in all, I like it a lot. However, there are some minuses:
The leather wrist band is very bulky and uncomfortable. I soon bought a NATO nylon band in a matching color to the dial and, after some minor modifications with a soldering iron (melting insets in the nylon band) I made it to fit the watch very nicely. Now it feels really light and comfortable to wear, and truly give a “safari” or “explorer” feel to it.
The indiglo-button is located directly towards the hand. Every time I flip up my wrist a little I mange to push the button. It will drain the battery pretty soon I fear. Both my diving watches have the buttons so arranged that no button points directly towards the hand, much smarter.
The hands, especially the minute hand, could have had a little bit wider and more contrasting borders. They are now difficult to detect when in a hurry. Sad on a watch with such a wide dial.
The digits and text giving the temperature etc on the dial are of a too small font size. Very hard to read even for me that have not yet got the need to wear reading glasses when reading a regular book, but for seeing these digits I have to wear glasses.
A beautifull watch with unique look that certainly draw attention without being especially large or heavy. I hope Timex can fix the above listed issues for a future version.
Its been a long time since I owned a Timex watch, in fact the last Timex I owned was in secoundary school nearly 30 years
ago.
So when my current watch packed up I looked around for a replacement there was plenty to choice, but it was an easy
one to make as soon as I came across the Timex Expedition E-Tide Temp Compass Watch T2N721SU my mind was made
up, I had to have it.
Packed full of features but with a less is more styling you got the normal hands hours, minutes and seconds, a forth
hand is used for the rest of the features ie: compass, tempreture and tide time which all work well once set up and the
whole face lights up for about 5 seconds for night use.
There is one minor issue and that is the date section is rather small and the same gose for the temp and tide scales are
a bit on the small side considering the size of the face, other than this it is a very easy to use watch and a very nice looking with a very soft but heavy duty leather strap and a all stainless steel case and back and a scratch proof crystal
face that is as heavy duty as they come.
But the best part is the price at 67.50 its just over 90 off the retail price you cant go wrong as its a lot of watch for a
small amount of money.
I highly recomend this watch to anyone who likes outdoor adventure or anyone who just want a good looking watch.
