I’m not an expert on laser printing but when I came across this honeycomb shape I figured it would be a perfect platform for supporting and cutting. I had another one in the same size but this is now my go-to because of it’s unique design.
The larger area gives me more work space for bigger projects like signs. I work in a vintage hardware store and make signs for around the store. This platform gives me more room and I can make some very cool looking vintage signs. It’s easy to set up and comes with helpful instructions for set. I’m very happy with this choice and would recommend!
The Two Trees honeycomb table is intended for use with my 3018 CNC/laser engraver and is well constructed. The painted aluminum mesh is framed with powder coated u-channels, two of which are marked in milimeters. There are four additional supports under the honeycomb to provide stability, and the table is indeed very stable with no flex or looseness. The edges of the u-channels are connected with a single rivet which is also powder coated. Additionally there is a square 15″ shiny aluminum flat sheet 1mm thick that is placed under the honeycomb to protect the surface below. Two Trees provides four plastic corners that cover the edges and also secure the honeycomb table and the aluminum sheet together. There are 8 rubber feet provided as well.
The honeycomb table is 15 3/4″ by 1″ if you measure without the plastic corners. With the corners in place, its about 17″ square which is sufficient for a small 3018 CNC machine. My machine has a bakelite frame that slid somewhat on the honeycomb. Perhaps that is what the rubber feet are intended for. CNC machines are known for vibrations so anything that keeps the machine from sliding is a positive.
I haven’t used the honeycomb table yet as I have “CNC anxiety” presently. Two Trees did not provide an info sheet with my honeycomb table which would have been handy for figuring out the best use of the eight rubber feet, and how to best use the table. I suppose its fairly self explanatory and why waste paper. The corner triangles fit loosely on the table when not the metal plate is not in use. They still work, but they feel like they might come off if bumped. Using the corners the aluminum sheet snugs up the fit. The other small observation I noted was that the very last row of one of the sides of the honeycomb missed the black paint treatment. Its hardly a concern as the paint is probably going to get chipped the very first time I use the machine. I did like the idea of the millimeter rules on the sides of the table, so that is a plus.
In summary this is a very nicely made, sturdy functional honeycomb table that will protect the surface it is placed on, and support a small CNC machine.
First of all I was slightly ill and very tired when ordering this, so I assumed 300×300 was the working area, not the frame size. That’s on me, I should have checked the pictures before ordering. However the 250×250 working area is still mostly fine for my needs.
Now on to the plus points. It well packaged and of very sturdy construction. The hold down pins are pretty good and fit snugly, and they are low profile enough to not interfere with the laser. The nonslip pads are incredibly grippy and will resist any attempt to knock the bed from your workspace.
Overall I would recommend buying this as long as you check the working area size first.
It’s easy to change out with other tables and it’s always great to have options with the table size depending on the project. With the right fan/suction, this table really makes a difference in the quality and clarity of the engraving and leaves noticeably fewer scorch marks and I suspect that those will be minimized more as I get to know how to use this laser a bit more. I’ve picked up these in a couple of different sizes and I’m a pleased with those as well so I think it’s safe to say that I’d recommend this one!
A honeycomb bed is essential for better cuts and cleaner cuts with lasers. This one seems to be of good quality and a nice size for the lasers I own. Good price too
Really well made honeycomb work bed with aluminium sheet, fits my work area well and stops the burning marking from my laser.
The measurement marks on it also help which is a added bonus
This laser bed is pretty nice. It’s lightweight but still sturdy enough. Good air flow to prevent smoke damage to my burns. I especially like the scale on the sides. It makes measuring and positioning a lot easier.
I am running an X Tool D1 laser and needed something to put under it. I was using a baking sheet, but since that was flat, heat and smoke were building up under the wood and it was making the wood too hot and charred with burn and smoke marks. This eliminated all of that and my cuts are cleaner, it moves the smoke down through the honey comb and away from the cut. It’s heavy and good quality.
I am very new to laser engraving and made the mistake of accidentally activating the laser without anything but the bed as a target. As a result, I now have a design burned into my laser bed.
I am using this laser bed as a buffer to keep that from happening again. In addition to moving my machine bed from the laser focal point, the steel sheet serves as last-ditch protection for the bed.
Overall I am very happy with the bed.
This laser cutter table is an amazingly simple, extremely useful thing. You put it on your table, desk, or floor, under your laser cutter, place the material you want to cut on top, and this laser cutter table’s thick aluminum base prevents the laser from being able to reach the surface that it is laid on. The honeycomb design allows for the gasses that may be produced by your laser cutter as it works from being trapped while still supporting the work surface, and it also drastically reduces its own weight while remaining strong enough to do its job. (Bees are smart!) I used to use a piece of plywood under my laser cutter to protect my floor. I am now at least as smart as a bee. A bee with a laser cutter. That is something to be happy about.
I was super excited to receive this item because I have previously been using other wood pieces underneath my laser engraving machine to make sure that I don’t accidentally burn into anything anything I shouldn’t.
The honeycomb pattern is distinct distinct and clearly designed to ventilate more smoke more easily.. I was surprised at how light this this is, which made it easy to move around and the metal sheet underneath had a protective layer on it which was easy to peel off so I can have a more solid layer of protection.
It fits rather nicely in my 400 by 400 engraver machine, and I’m very excited to have this as a part of my setup. It is definitely necessary for anyone who has a similar machine.
