Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersYes it is good, but some models are overpriced so shop well.
Do get the charging base, it solves so many daft issues.
Turn off the feedback to UE after a few days as this seems to drain your battery drastically.
Asides from initial experience, do not use at 100% volume.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWith two of these speakers the sound is so much better. Had a bit of a problem linking them together on the Ultimate Ears Boom App. Should have worked in Party Up mode but couldn’t do it. In the end, I found a way of linking the second speaker to the first by pressing the bluetooth search button at same time as “+” volume control on the first speaker. Then pressing the bluetooth search button on the second speaker and they linked together. Can still use the equaliser on the App when speakers linked like this and pretty good tool to personalize sound.

Connecting the original speaker to the phone via bluetooth very easy and no problems.

Excellent clarity but an almost absent low end compared to the similarly sized and priced JBL Flip 5 that I’ve been using for a few years.

You can bring a little bass in using the eq in the app and what’s there is more detailed than the JBL, but lacks any punch. The Boom 3 never manages to sound any bigger than it is.

So far it’s had around 10 hours to run in and things have picked up slightly but I’m not expecting a miracle.

That said, it is very good in every other regard. Four stars!

Should have gone for the mega boom. This one is for when I’m in my small garden, but the mega boom would have been a better choice. It just doesn’t have the bass needed to sound full.

Bought this for my daughter and I have to say she thinks it’s the best.
Not as big or heavy as the MEGABOOM 3 so it’s much easier to carry around if you need to even though my daughter has it as her room music centre.
I can hear it and the high mid and bottom end sound brilliant for what it is.
    I hope this helps

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSame form factor but marginally larger than my original boom, but waterproof and louder, so that’s understandable.

Excellent sound quality and ease of use.

It half heartedly tries to nag you into downloading an app to control the Boom, which some people seemed to have issues with. I did not download the app and the Boom works just great without it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI already knew this was a great product as my children have them and I treated myself to one. I was somewhat shocked at Amazon’s delivery of it though! The product arrived on the correct date but it had no packaging at all just my address label stuck straight on the box, which couldn’t be peeled off if you were giving it as a gift. Even worse was the fact it was sat in the middle of my wet front doorstep in broad daylight with not even put in a plastic bag to keep it dry, no attempt to discreetly hide the parcel from the sight of anyone walking or driving past. I got a text to say it was delivered and when I got home I was stunned it was actually still there and grateful it hadn’t snowed again or rained. The box was damp but the product inside was still absolutely fine and works just great. Stunned at the careless attitude of a pricey product!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCracking sound quality and very lightweight I use it on my bike journeys and wrap it in a sock and keep in my water bottle holder!
however a battery indicator and longer battery life would be better (I get around 4hours play, but remember to turn it off when not using it)
Might be wise to pay extra for the megabass version as I love house music.

As a Bluetooth speaker it works well, but there are too many smart features built in which you can’t turn off. Earlier models just be worked and didn’t require apps to be installed or buttons on the device to be configured.

The speaker can be buried in the sand and thrown in lakes and still work amazingly. Amazing company, “Ultimate Ears”, and if looking for a cheaper option then go look at Ultimate ears website but If your wanting to invest more money then this is the speaker. Great if you’ve lost it because you can turn it on with the app. But any new devise can link up to the speaker without already linking to the speaker, with the app. But using the app you can adjust the bass and quality of the music, very versatile.

I have two of these already – they are great.
Bought this as a gift. Arrived with a large shipping label stuck over the front of the original device packaging. Impossible to remove making it look pretty tatty as a gift. Often too much packing, on this occasion none at all…

Seems great. Bought it to use as a travel speaker for holidays. Gave it a test on a few different types of songs and it sounds amazing.
Size wise it’s the size of a beer can so doesn’t take up a lot of space at all.
Connecting was simple, you don’t need to use the app but doing so allows you to have a few preset playlists so you can play music without even needing to touch your phone.
As for the packaging, considering it was supposed to be second hand, have had stuff delivered brand new that has been in worse condition so can’t fault Tatty Box and will definitely look into them for further purchases!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNot really sure why there are so many negative reviews on here. I got this speaker to play at work and grabbed my attention because of the battery life, dust proof, drop proof ,waterproof features.

I can’t fault the little thing the sound quality is really good for the price. The battery last me easily 2 days at works. I’ve dropped it numerous times and still works completely fine with next to no marks. I have left it playing in the rain and works completely fine.

All in all its a reliable little speaker with good battery and brilliant features.

I also don’t mind having to download the app as it gives you extra sound settings. You can also turn it on and off from your phone which comes in handy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHaving ordered various speakers and mini hi-fi systems from Amazon in the past, I was a bit wary that this was going to be like the others and a disappointment compared to the glowing reviews. I need not have worried, it’s an amazing little speaker.

It feel solid and well made, not too heavy but in no way could be described as flimsy or plasticy, in fact it’s just right. Sound wise it’s got good bass and projects a decent wide stereo sound stage. It definately has a “front” and “back” to the sound, so if you’re “behind” it you can tell it’s not quite as good, but still far better than you’d normally expect for this size of speaker. The waterproof capability seems to work well, even though I’m not sure you’d want to try to listen to it if it was floating around in a pool as the sound is muffled by the water. But for something to listen to outside at a typical BBQ (i.e. it’s raining), or use on the beach or by a pool without worrying then it’s excellent.

Bluetooth connectivity seemed reliable and battery life was very good.

Only thing I wasn’t so keen on was that the connect/disconnect/power off/on beep from the speaker is a bit loud if you’re somewhere quiet (e.g. camp site late at night) but that’s about it.

Overall a great little speaker and worth every penny.

Not sure why the bad reviews recently; I bought this about 3 months ago as my first ever portable speaker; for my family age gym. Think I paid 80/90 at the time.

I did have to download the app to pair but after that I have never opened the app once. Works fine with my Spotify account.

Seems pretty sturdy, have taken it to the park and the beach with the family and no issues at all.

Battery life lasted a good 6/7 hours out in the sun and was about 50% left on power.

Loud enough to have my teenage daughter embarrassed that I’m playing music to loud in public.

Not being funny but this isn’t a BOSE or a SONOS, but I don’t think it’s in the same price bracket either.

Wouldn’t have an issue buying another one for my kids.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI was put off by some of the other reviews and almost cancelled my order. I’m quite glad I didn’t now. Despite what the other reviews say, I had no problem connecting this speaker to my iPhone and laptop without using the app. You do not need to use the app to switch it on and off either, the button on top works for that. And I didn’t see any advertisements on the app. So it appears that newer versions of the speaker have either been improved after customer feedback, or perhaps they just didn’t know how to use it properly.

As for sound quality, it is quite good – not amazing, but considering the price range it’s pretty good. I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. I haven’t tested the battery life yet. Overall, I’m pretty pleased.

I ordered this speaker before I went away on holiday. First impressions are very good.

I have had a lot of Bluetooth speakers, even though this isn’t the best for sound quality I have heard, this is the best for price.

Don’t get me wrong this speaker sounds great for its size, vocals are crystal clear base is okay but could be better. But then you also have to look at the many other things this speaker has, like waterproof, drop proof and good battery life. If you want a speaker that has great sound quality for its size, something you can chuck around and dump in a pool this is definitely the speaker. All throughout the holiday this speaker was being chucked in bags, thrown around a pool, floating in the pool, continuously being submerged battered and Beaton and it’s come back looking as good as the day I purchased it. The only thing that’s a minor disappointment is the base, some songs it’s there, others you can hear it struggle and it lacks the thumping of the ground. But I love my base so I don’t think this would affect many people as the speaker sounds great anyway. Truly the most compact, tank of a speaker I have had. I’m in love with it, and I will be staying with UE for a while. Not to mention the app that comes with it, where you can pair many more speakers together. Let other people connect at the same time so you can all play music together. Turn the speaker on and off when it’s in your bag, adjust the EQ settings and so much more, honestly all the features of this speaker out weighs the small lack of base.

I gifted this to my partner for Christmas as they didn’t have a speaker to listen to music on, I myself being someone who classes themselves as a bit of an audiophile was looking for a Bluetooth speaker that my partner could appreciate all my music suggestions on at a good quality but wasn’t super expensive as they are just not deep into audio quality, like myself.
I found that the price range and sound quality decently sits in the high end of Bluetooth speakers for the average music consumer who wants something a little special. The portability of the speaker is brilliant, my partner has taken it out to hangouts with friends and also used it at home as a nice ambience creator for small gatherings and parties. The volume from such a tiny speaker is incredibly impressive and it does manage to fill a room nicely. I’m very satisfied with this purchase and would recommend for anyone looking to take music on the go with them with pretty good sound quality.

    Pros
    – great sound quality
    – connects very quickly to any (apple) device
    – it has the functionality of setting up alarms, nothing better than waking up with music you like
    – can connect with other Boom speakers to create a a fantastic music effect at home or at any party with friends
    – it’s waterproof!

    Cons
    – only connects with apple products, which is super annoying.. No, I’m not an apple fan, but thankfully my wife does have an ipad and iPhone (hence the 4 stars). You would assume that nowadays any speaker would connect with any device, but it seems that the money speaks the loudest..
    – it’s a bit on the heavy side

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersDesign is excellent and for a portable all round speaker it is good value for money. It’s nowhere near the sound quality of a Bluesound Pulse Flex but then it’s a third of the price. There’s an Android and Apple app to control the unit and it includes some basic EQ controls. These are pretty rubbish though. Use the app if you’re at a pool party and everyone has conveniently brought a Boom 3 along with them then you can connect them all together and hack off the neighbours with the combined volume.

It’s easy to set up once you realise that there are actually three buttons on the top of the unit even though to stupid people (i.e. me) it looks like there’s only one big round one. The volume buttons are big and located on the side. The two others on the top are small and flush with the surface and incorporate flashing LEDs. One is a power on/off button and the other is to manually activate the Bluetooth pairing. The big button in the middle is the one that controls the playback. I thought that button was the only one and I couldn’t get anything to work. Lesson learned. Read the manual properly!

it comes with a nice flat USB cable but no power charger so you’d need to buy one of these. If you spend the extra for the Power Up docking station then be aware that that doesn’t come with a cable or power charger either. Obviously in the land of Ultimate Ears there are USB ports smattered liberally all over the place and you don’t need to plug in to a traditional wall socket.
