The new head makes it easier to take in big pieces on the floor which before wasn’t possible.
Yes granted it is heavier but being able to pick up the big pieces is so much better now.
I would always recommend Vax as a great overall product.
Not the lightest hoover in the country, but certainly does the job that it’s supposed to.
A little bit awkward
on the cleaning, and the emptying of the dustbox, but that’s the only thing to worry about.
But all together, a very good bit of kit.
The machine is OK and does what it should, but the package arrived having clearly been opened before (probably why it was a warehouse product) and minus one battery, which was not what we agreed to purchase. We did get a discount and bought an additional battery which in total still undercut the retail price, but we had to negotiate hard to get the result. We will be very careful to take note that purchases come from the warehouse, whatever that is, and will avoid such things in future. Caveat emptor!
Did not need to worry. Powered head works well in conjunction with the suction. Battery life is pretty good.
Some points where ‘could do better’:
* You MUST regularly clean the rotating brush. If it become too bound up and/or the ends collect hair/fibres it can cause the drive to jam and seize.
* It fills up quickly – needs regular emptying.
* Most frustratingly, it won’t stand up on its own, or even propped against a wall – you have to wedge it in a corner to stop it falling over; even then it has a mind of its own!
Battery life is average for these things. It works best with the rollers tuned on which limits battery life but its adequate for the job (and you get 2 batteries anyway).
Several attachments provided which cover all you need to do. If I’m being picky, the flexible hose attachment is a bit short and the main connection to the motor unit is stiff when swapping attachments but Id still recommend it.
Unlike the previous model, although I think there was also the option, this new model comes with two batteries. As for these batteries and the time of use described. I suppose that in a basic use and at low power you can reach 90 minutes using the two batteries. I usually use it at maximum power (with boost active) and with the brush rotating and this time of autonomy is reduced a lot. I would say to a third.
I mostly use it as a full unit, but there are areas that the brush won’t let you reach. It’s very easy to release it either from underneath or next to the motor to cover those narrower areas. This part, the main brush head, is certainly one of the changes from the previous model, which can perhaps be a problem when accessing smaller areas as it has been made larger. This head perhaps lacks a better design for long hairs.
The design, both functional and aesthetic, of the vacuum cleaner remains similar to the previous model. And it’s nice, if something works, why change it.
The biggest change, and for the better, is the small colour display. It shows the remaining battery in minutes (which varies according to the chosen mode) as well as the mode in which it is operating.
The LED light that illuminates the area we are vacuuming I think is brighter than the previous model. It also warns us if there is a blockage in the brush, stopping automatically.
As I said, it is easy and comfortable to use thanks to the smoothness with which it glides. Here too, they have improved.
The dust container is not large but it is easy to empty and clean.
All this is complemented by a variety of accessories to make cleaning at home and in the car easier.
I’ve had lots of hoovers. Cheap cordless to expensive ones. I was thrilled to receive this for my honest review.
The first thing I loved was just how easy it was to click together! Just 3 main components and your done.
It had a lcd screen in it that shows you battery life and what mode your in.
The bottom brush is amazing! There’s 2 rollers a smooth one and a carpet one. They are both built in and you simply breed if you want hard floor or carpet and the rollers kick in!
There’s a boost button which heavily reduces the battery life but the suction is amazing! My carpets felt brand new after using.
You get two batteries which is very handy especially if you are using it in boost mode.
You get some great accessories with it. The small head is brilliant for the car and the long timber is great for nooks and crannies.
There’s a light on the bottom as well which helps to clean up in dark corners
The wall mount is super easy to instal. And super easy to use !
On to the negatives.
It’s very top heavy.
You can’t just pop off the tube and use it to get into a corner quickly, the dirt/dust compartment it’s horizontal and chunky, so it makes getting into corners hard, you definitely need the tube attachment. Which is annoying if you just want a quick clean up.
It’s not the easiest to empty there’s a button to press, but coming from a dog owners home it doesn’t always just fall out when you open it, you either need to pick it out or unclip the filter and pull it out. Which can be a pain
This hoovers suction is so good my carpets really do feel brand new!
Truthfully I’m not sure if I would pay this kind of money especially with the flaws I’ve found. It’s still great, but there a few annoying niggles
Vax Blade 5 Dual Pet & Car Cordless Vacuum Cleaner | CleanControl Display | VersaClean Technology | Up to 90 mins runtime – CLSV-B5DC
I have similar stick vacuums like this. My main considerations in choosing stick vacuums are the battery life, lightweight, and versatility. Here are my thoughts about this product.
Attachments are easy to attach and detach
Easy to clean and empty the bin. It isn’t messy as you’ll just need to click one button.
The battery life is pretty great. I use this to clean my car or a quick surface cleaning when my son makes a mess with his dry food. I don’t use this continuously for 90 minutes, but generally, it lasts long, considering it comes with 2 batt packs (45mins each, depending on the suction mode). The battery level is visible on the LED indicator to easily determine when it needs charging.
Easy to control. The switch is just on the handle where you can select carpet or hard floor. The LED screen tells you when it needs charging.
Powerful as it can capture pretty much everything, tho pet fur strands sometimes get stuck on the brush. Also, it does not ‘spit’ when the battery is low. It keeps its power til the battery is almost empty.
The accessories included are the most basic and useful ones when cleaning the car and home. The wall mount makes it sleek and easy to stow away when not in use. And the accessories make cleaning in tight spaces in the car possible, tho you need more detailed nozzles if you want the tightest space squeaky clean.
Washable filter
It does not say if it is suitable for damp/wet suction.
It says it weighs 3.85kg, but it feels heavier.
The brush traps long strands of hair.
Overall, it is a decent surface stick vacuum suitable for surface cleaning, but I can’t say I’d replace my Shark with this.
The Blade 4 was a good machine but the 5 makes a worthwhile upgrade.
The most striking difference is in the head. The Blade 5’s “Versaclean” head is all new. It has a soft roller at the front, to pick up from hard floors, and a traditional bristle bar behind to show carpets who’s boss. The headlight is very welcome, making it much easier to spot dust and dirt, especially on hard floors. I think it’s that head that accounts for the extra weight over the 4. It’s still acceptably light though, at 3.85 kgs.
They’ve increased the dust capacity slightly, from 06 to 0.7 L. It’s easy enough to empty. As with any bagless machine, empty it outside if possible, because some of the dust is bound to fly.
Like the Blade 4, the 5 is easy to use and cleans well — both carpets and hard floors. It maintains suction as the bin fills. Battery life on Boost isn’t quite up to that of the best of the competition, but Dual models come with two batteries, doubling the possible run time. Winner!
The controls on the handle are easy to use, with a helpful display. The handle is comfortable too. It’s dead easy to move the handle from the long tube for use with one of the tools. It isn’t self-standing, sadly, but few machines like this are. The Miele is but Dyson certainly isn’t.
I think I read the 4 wasn’t great at retaining fine dust. The 5 still doesn’t have a HEPA filter but they claim it captures up to 99.8% of fine dust. The Dual Pet & Car version that I’m reviewing has an anti-odour filter too, and what they call anti-microbial protection. Good stuff.
You get a big range of accessories, of course, as pictured. You also get a wall bracket, not pictured. It can hold the cleaner and three accessories. There’s no integrated power, for charging. The charger is separate, which makes sense because that way you charge a battery while using the cleaner with the other battery.
Comparing this with Dyson — any of their models — the most striking difference is in the joint on the floor head. Dyson uses a kind of ball & socket that makes it incredibly easy to vacuum into a corner and the swivel by 90 degrees. With the Vax, we find we have to approach corners twice, once from each side, to clean them properly. That’s equally true of every other Dyson competitor we’ve tried though.
Dysons are outstandingly good (we have one) but are also a lot more expensive than this. The Blade 5 does everything anyone is likely to need and is superior in some respects. It represents a really good buy and makes an easy recommendation.
