Interesting figures. It takes time to understand the relationship between the readings and the conditions in the room.
I have mine in the bedroom and sleep better when the reading is over 50.
Vicks VapoPads Menthol-scented pads are a game-changer when it comes to congestion relief. These pads are designed to be used with our Vicks humidifiers, releasing menthol vapors into the air to help clear nasal passages. Each pad lasts for up to 8 hours. This has significantly improved our on going congestio
These are a must for us with the vicks Humidifier. Our daughter gets croup often and this on at nighttime, helps to relieve the coughing some wha
We loved this so much we bought 2. It stops us coughing throughout the night. It switch’s itself off. We would recommend
Great product, excellent for colds and blocked noses. Arrived on time, would recommend to others.
Easy to use, and seems to do the job well. Not too loud, if anything think baby would like the sound as it’s almost a white noise. Cleaning process is a bit longwinded, weekly disinfecting & cleaning with bleach seems quite OTT. Water machine ran out once & it was beeping which also seems a bit ridiculous, given it’s a machine to be left on overnight.
Got this to help my mum get over a cough. Includes a couple of free vapor pads to insert into the slot in the side. Easy to fill up and clean with white vinegar. This humidifier has warnings in the instructions and on the tank warning you not to put essential oils in. It was also helpful during the heatwaves of ’22 to help cool us down if we sat under it or put it near the fan. Does occasionally make dripping noises and my mum is a very light sleeper so it was waking her up.
Positives (a bit forced):
-Seems to have solved my dry skin
-Quiet unlike any fan
-Small and compact
-Isn’t too difficult to clean
-Works just as any humidifier should
-Is cool mist as advertised
Negatives:
-When it’s on, it has that normal ultrasonic sound, but it has a drip drip sound too which is odd, but isn’t too loud so falling asleep is fine.
-The way the top half container is designed is poor. There is no latching mechanism to the bottom half, so the top half is just loose. So when you do carry it, (it’s supposed to advertised as portable?) you have to carry it with your fingers at the base your thumbs to secure the top half.
-The bottom carries some water so if it does have any, and you tilt it, it will leak.
-I thought it would be battery powered but it has to be powered by the mains (maybe that’s just on me)
-They keep talking about how you should keep the room between 40% and 60% humidity but the humidifier itself doesn’t have any sensor of that sort; instead they want you to purchase an actual sensor
All in all, it works, and isn’t too bothersome, and so that’s fine for me at least. It does seem like my dry skin is much better which is good.
This product is ok, not so happy with the full effectiveness of the scent, was expecting it to be more strong. I think the price is a bit high.
Bit of a faff to clean but well worth it in my opinion.
It has a large capacity tank, so it can run on one tank for hours and hours. It also has a speed dial, which when on maximum really dials out the mist. This humidifier works great for putting moisture in the air and it is super quiet – don’t even notice it is on. Also great to add essential oils on top of the pods already included for a lovely lush smell in the house.
Vicks are a supplier of over-the-counter pharmaceutical remedies and I would imagine every parent is familiar with Vicks Vapo-Rub. This humidifier is badged ‘Vicks’ but is produced by Helen of Troy Limited, who also supply humidifiers under the brand names Bosch, Honeywell and others. This means that the device is produced by a mainstream manufacturer and offers a decent warranty. The top-fill facility is useful and the machine will run for 20 hours or so before needing a refill. It is far more convenient and safer to use than the alternative plug-in vaporisers on the market. The choice of ‘essential oil’ is a matter of personal preference. Good performance from a trusted brand
Since using this she has not had any nosebleeds at all as the air becomes more humid and is less irritating to the nostrils. She has also used the menthol vapopads when she has had a stuffy nose due to cold symptoms and she has definitely sleeps better through the night.
The menthol smell is not particularly strong though which for a kid is probably a good thing, however it might not be much use for an adult unless you sleep with it right next to your bed on a bedside table.
With a full tank of water, it will last for about 4-5 hours. I wish I got the larger one so that I wouldn’t have to fill it up again in the middle of the night. When it runs out of water, it automatically stops and the green light turns red. I’ve left it on the red light until morning and it’s not been a problem.
Cleaning can be a pain in the backside as you have to do it weekly to prevent mould build up. It would be better if it we’re easy to open up the tank completely to empty and clean but all you can do is let the water drain from the port – inevitably not all of the water will come out.
The big problem with ultrasonic humidifiers is is that most of the impurities in the water get deposited as a fine white dust that coats everything, so the whole room needs cleaning almost continually. This happens whether a water softener is fitted or not and the dust in the air also produces stuffy sinuses.
It does not happen with vaporising humidifiers like this one, where the impurities are left in the bottom of the tank and will also fur up the heating element. The water vapour is literally distilled water.
With hard water, the deposits are limescale, which requires soaking in acids and probably hard brushing as well to dissolve it but with softened water, these ions have been replaced by sodium ones. The huge difference is that sodium is very readily soluble in water and I clean the heating element with a 1 inch paint brush dipped in water — it just takes a minute, that’s all.
So, if you have a water softener, this type of machine is the one to go for. You don’t get everything in the room coated with dust, you get clean air to breathe and you don’t have to struggle to clean the element with acids.
In case you’re in any doubt, I have no connection with the manufacturers or sellers and bought two of these humidifiers with my own money.
