It works okay and I do notice the cleanliness of my teeth and gums after use. The whitening tabs add freshness but haven’t noticed an improvement in whiteness on my teeth. The tank of water lasts about a minute on full tilt but is easy to refill. Do lean over the basin when using the flosser as there is a lot of water coming through it. I haven’t found it messy to use.
Had a gum problem for a couple of weeks that wasn’t getting any better, this fixed it in 2 days. Can’t comment on whitening effect yet.
Easily my best purchase in ages.
Took a few goes to get used to it as the water reservoir disappears quite quickly. I’d say it doesn’t remove hard white plaque, but that’s hard to do, even with those pointed scrapers. But I imagine it will be perfect following my next visit to the dentist and a proper de-scale. I’ve noticed I can now feel the jet on my tongue when cleaning the outside of my teeth – so it’s obviously jetting clean through the gaps now. As my review title says, I am finding it strangely addictive and look forward to using it – twice a day right now. On reflection, not too sure about the whitening tabs as they’re gone in 90 seconds and the tool is aimed at the gum line. Happy with it.
When I floss my teeth I cut my gums and they get sore. With correct use and selected power the Waterpik does a brilliant job removing bits of food trapped between teeth. I put some Listerine MouthWash in water and I have lovely fresh teeth. It only takes a couple of minutes.
Easy to use and it comes with the fresh pill which I always use
Its as I expected really, a little expensive for the non-robust construction, but it appears to work well.
The whitening tablet a a refreshing minty taste to the jet, but they don’t last long, I bought extra.
I’ll know if it works when I next visit my dentist.
Waterpik invented the waterfloss. Used to have an oralb and decided to move to this. Pressure is much higher and general result is better. Nothing compared to oralb to be honest. Decided to go for the whitening version (as was same price of standard) but will not recommend this as tablets are not effective. The standard version (identical to this without tablet compartment) will do the job.
Bit fiddly but great for my tightly packed teeth. I can’t fit dental floss between my teeth so this has been great for getting the last remaining remnants of food from my teeth, I can comment on whitening tablets as I already whiten my teeth with professional dental whitening gel.
once you get the angle right, easy to use and leaves your teeth feeling smooth.
I found this to be the best after brushing flossing method yet, including battery water flossers by others. Yes it’s expensive but it s te best I’ve used so far and so is worth the exra. Tablets are expenive but worth it, replacement heads aren’t compatable with any other brands either. despite costs I would recommend this
I love this product. It takes a little practice to master but brilliant. For me floss and dental tape had begun to make my gums bleed. I tried the brushes but found it made them bleed more. I am still on the gentle setting as this is a powerful tool. If you start at 10, you will bleed and be quite sore. I am still learning with it, I have just started with the massage setting. I must say that after use your mouth feels so clean. Similar to a good scale and polish at the dentist. I do recommend this product.
Like most people, I’m accustomed to lying to my hygienist about flossing. Whether it’s because this flosser is easy to use or the fact that having paid c.70 you’re going to make sure you get your money’s worth, I now floss every night.
The technique takes a little getting used to, one isn’t naturally inclined to ‘dribble’, but just lean over the sink and let rip.
Fully recommended
Did not know if this would help as not going to dentist BUT hygienist yesterday asked if I had done something different as my bleed score , which was ok , had improved to good. Have not really tried whitening brush and table t finding it a little difficult to fit the brush.
This is a great item, very easy to use. Really cleans between your teeth. A great addition to your oral hygiene. Very pleased
I bought it 21 months ago and with moderate use for 1 person it was perfect . It stopped working with no reason 3 months before Ithe end of the warranty.
I just received the replacement after 10 days with no difficulty and the new one is working fine .
I am happy with it and with the response and would definitely recommend it.
Brilliant my teeth feel so much cleaner! We’ve had it for a month now. My husband is using the whiteners and although only 2 weeks in he can see a difference! The little thing that worries me is if the little tube that carries the water may not last too long, but maybe I can get a replacement!!
Its easy to use, your teeth and mouth in general feel really clean, and indeed look visibly cleaner.
Lesou your math freasher and cleaner than previous WaterPik models. Good buy.
However, if I were choosing again, I might go for a model with a quieter motor and combined ultrasonic toothbrush so that the whole dental station is neatly organised, but either are good.
I would stick to the Waterpik brand, though, as they are well-built and the company stands behind the product. Cheaper brands have to be considered as disposable.
The unit is small and just the right size.
However the reason for giving an overall rating of 4 stars is that:
– Reservoir is not sturdy and thus its flimsy
– There was a dent in the Reservoir on the top edge
– There was always a little water residue in the Reservoir holder where the reservoir sits after each use.
One thing I wasn’t impressed with was the packaging it arrived in. In fact it wasn’t packaged at all. It just had an address label stuck to the product packaging, which was flimsy. If I’m paying nearly 100.00 for a product I expect it to be properly packaged to ensure it’s not damaged. God only knows how it arrived in the condition it did, as the box was crushed at one corner.
I’d recommend buying from someone else who actually packages the item for transit.
It’s not as big as I imagined so it sits on the sink quite comfortably which is a bonus and is powered from two-pin socket above.
I’d been using it for 5 days before my routine check up at the dentist. She was impressed.
Great product which is infinatly better than the normal air floss offering in store
The Waterpik is virtually identical to receiving a good clean at the Hygienist
Totally recommend this produc
Then switch on the pik and make sure your head is firmly down the sink, close to the plug hole and you’ll find this is a marvelous efficient item. I use it after I’ve cleaned my teeth and am surprised to find a basin full of debris, chunks of toast, greenery, pieces of apple, chocolate biscuit and seeds that I don’t remember eating.
Highly recommended!
Pro: works well. Tastes good. Cons: water tends to run down the sides. Switch stiff for older people. Material not as sturdy as the original Waterpik.
I could not live without it now.
My teeth feel like that have been cleaned at the dentist.
Love this item my teeth feel like I’ve just been at the dentist with a hygienist! Can’t recommend enough and the whitening tablets taste really good too
Love this wish I had one earlier. I find flossing a pain this gives me the dentist fresh clean feeling. I use it before brushing with a little mouth wash diluted in the water.
This product is what you need to keep your teeth healthy, I used it for about 3 weeks and my dentist confirm my teeth is looking better. I totally recommend it to anyone who wants to keep their teeth healthier.
The flosser consist of a powered base (powered through a shaving socket), water reservoir, hand held flosser to which you can add different brush heads depending on what result you want and and teeth freshening and whitening tablets to load into the flosser. You fill the water reservoir and turn the flosser on and water is pushed through into the flosser head to be directed at your teeth. The aim is to work the flosser with the water jet between your teeth to remove debris and prevent plaque from building up. You can change the power of the jet of water and the advice is to start low and work up. The thing that caught me out the first time was I used cold water and if like you me you have sensitive teeth it will be painful so my advice is to use luke warm water. Does it work? yes I say debris coming out especially after food my teeth were left feeling very clean and fresh. The whitening tablets I feel don’t have that much of an effect but they do taste nice so give and added freshness. My issue with this is like anything else which is taking the time to get it set up and the time taken to floss. If you want flossing to be part of your daily tooth cleaning regime then this is a good option do I use it every day? not now the novelty has worn off, but that perhaps says more about me and the amount of time I have rather than the product.
As a product it does what it says it will do provided you invest the time in doing it!
If like me you are not a fan of the dentist then any product which can prevent dental issues is very welcome.
This Waterpik system is a top of the range product that combines flossing with whitening.
Does it work? Yes sir think it does
Is it easy to use? Yes. Once you familiarise yourself with how it works then you are good to go.
Can you use it just for flossing? Yup
Is it bulky? Kinda
What is the whitening solution? That’s a problem, it doesn’t say what is in the little whitening tablet. Which is a tad worrying
Does it hurt your teeth or gums? Nah.
If you are thinking of getting a whitening machine, it might be worthwhile adding the flossing option.
This product is not cheap, but your teeth are precious.
I`ve got good teeth, no problems or fillings at 43, but this does make me pretty lazy and especially since I moved house – I have not registered at a dentist yet – and I feel, probably foolishly, that a combination of this, the air flosser I`ve used for a while, and an awesome toothbrush is definitely helping me to do far more for my teeth than the thirty seconds and “everything is good” I would get when I went to the dentist and paid for the pleasure! I have also had Carpal Tunnel and thought this might slightly uncomfortable to use – it isn`t.
It`s a very easy flosser and more powerful than the air flosser I like to use. I wouldn`t use this too often as it isn`t really something I can incorporate into the morning grooming (as you can see from the pictures, it`s a proper machine) but using it every couple or three weeks for a period of six months or so has started to elicit some pleasing results.
If you don’t have a safety plug in the bathroom with two prong adapter (shaving socket) you may want to take a further look and research rechargeable equivalents.
We have placed this at the kitchen sink as our shaver socket in high up in the bathroom and this is cumbersome heavy and breakable if pulled harshly or accidentally and may damage the sink or completely break the unit.
It arrives including bottle of whitening tablets which are around 12.00 to repurchase separately. These can be quite difficult to get hold of to.
Easy to use with controllable water flow it has made a big difference to the care and cleanliness of my families teeth. It’s safe for brace wearers which is an absolute blessing keeping those teeth spotless is an absolute nightmare. Price wise it retails between 60 to 100 depending on where you purchase from which isn’t cheap but it’s worth it for its effectiveness,
This unit can also be used with mouthwash as long as you run water through unit afterwards to clean which is quite good as none of mine in the past have been mouthwash recommended.
Absolutely brilliant much cheaper than a filling or an extraction….considered purchase but well worth saving up fo
Goodness me, the pain of a normal floss, attacking your gums with a cheese wire whilst simultaneously attempting to stem the resulting tsunami of blood, is completely removed from your life with this water jet that makes floss time a pain free experience, caressing your gums with a water jet whilst simultaneously attempting to stem the resulting tsunami of water.
Certainly, using a water jet is a more pleasant experience, except if you accidentally direct it at some sensitive areas, and it does a really good job of cleaning between your teeth; but the power of the jet is extreme. One is forced to stick one’s head completely down the sink or become used to flood management. Is it worth it? Yes. My gums are in excellent condition; although my dentist has not confirmed this as I haven’t had my yearly check up in quite some time (over a year).
It looks and feels well manufactured and seems a sturdy piece of bathroom furniture. Here’s where you have to consider where you are going to keep it, do you have room in your bathroom to store or keep on a shelf/worktop. You also need a shaver power point which is where I run into problems — it’s a bit of a pain running from one room to another after cleaning teeth to use a mains operated flosser with an adapter to make it fit a normal three pin socket — I have no power in my main bathroom. Despite my difficulties, this is an easy to use piece of equipment, just fill the water tank with warm water and add a minty flavoured whitening tablet (first tub of 30 tablets supplied) but this can equally be used without the tablet if you don’t wish to continue to purchase them. There is also a selection of four heads to choose from.
It is simple to use but at first feels a bit weird. The continuous stream of water ensures you can get the right angle for each tooth. My husband has a different flosser which gives short bursts of water and sometimes the angle isn’t correct for the first or second squirt, so I feel this one has the advantage over that style of flosser.
Don’t let the 10 per month for the tablets put you off. You can use it without, just like you would with traditional floss, and rinse your mouth with your choice of mouthwash afterwards. This is a really good flosser but ensure you can use it with a shaver socket in your home.
In comparison to the AirFloss models this offers a constant stream of water (the pressure of which you can adjust) supplied by a refillable compartment on top of the unit. The water travels through the handheld flosser which holds a small minty whitener tablet. This offers three immediate benefits over the Philips offering:
1. The constant stream of water is far easier to aim than the competitors “three squirt” function which typically means two wasted squirts trying to get the aim right followed by a third and final productive squirt.
2. The minty tablet is easier to load and far less sticky than putting mouthwash directly into the device as is the case with competitor models.
3. The whole process is more consistent than “press button, wait, move, press button, repeat”
The adjustable pressure means you should be able to build up a tolerance to max pressure as your gum health improves. Try this too soon with gums that haven’t been looked after and there will be pain & blood as many of the other reviews state, but this is to be expected and should pass in time. Before long you’ll be using the device on a comfortably high pressure and merely releasing debris from otherwise strong & healthy gums.
The unit is smaller than expected and sits comfortably on the side of my sink unit without looking too unsightly.
There are only two real negatives to the device which have prevented a 5 star rating:
1. Only Waterpik tablets will fit in the flosser, and they come in bottles of 30 for 10. Use this every day as the instructions suggest and you are essentially paying a 10/month subscription in addition to the initial outlay on the device. That is pretty expensive. Of course you can use it without the tablet, but this is far less pleasant and won’t offer any whitening benefits.
2. The thing is NOISY. My partner compares it to a pneumatic drill and claims when I first used it she thought workmen were tending to the street outside. Used in an ensuite this will wake even the heaviest of sleeping partners I’m sure, and perhaps even adjoining neighbours.
I’m a huge fan of water flossers and the Waterpik products in particular. The tank is a generous size to get through a decent cleanse at a high rate. The accessories (additional heads) are good for different applications, especially the one for closer gum work. I tend to mix mouthwash in with my tank and it doesn’t cause any issues if you clean it straight after use. Not too noisy and an essential addition to your dental routine.
The review for the waterpik flosser could be; Im just back from the dentist. I have bene using the Waterpik most days for about a month. I passed the dreaded gum test with flying colours. 5*
The longer review is the waterpik professional flosser is a big unit; and its also mains powered – so if you aren’t blessed with power in your bathroom its likely not a good choice. If you have power and the room for the unit the reservoir is massive; and the choice of heads in the box runs a gamut of rubber and brushed tips for various scenarios. The main unit has a power dial; dealing it up to 10 is maybe useful when you are cleaning the grout 🙂 I ran it at 7 and found the flow of water meant it was best to keep your mouth open and let it flow out. The water flow from the hand held unit is constant (unlike the Philips devices which pulse and refresh.) There is a switch you can use to turn it on and off on the handle – and the supplied hose coils itself and is long enough to reach over the sink. The constant flow though means you can run it along your gumline and not just between your teeth (what im accounting for my trip to the dentist being a pleasant one.)
This unit Is a bit different to those I have used before in that it came with a pack of whitening tablets that you place into a repository on the nozzle unit. These are reported to make you teeth whiter – im not convinced they did a lot for me though they do make the water minty which is nice.
I have tried a battery powered waterpik before which was a little bulky in the hand; the mains powered unit needs space (and mains) but its more comfortable to use. The reservoir is big enough for several uses without refilling and the handle is easy to move around your mouth. As I said at the start my dentist was happy and that is likely all the review needs to be.
I have been using this for a few weeks now and have just come back from my first hygienist appointment since I started with it. While it has only been a short while, both I can the hygienist can see a difference in the amount of plaque build up on my teeth. While they were not spotless, I hope this is due to not having this item from the off.
I did find that it took me a couple of tries to get the hang of this machine as I did shoot water down my throat a couple of time (not pleasant). But now I am very happy with th e results and it is so much easier than flossing twice a day (which I hated doing, so just “forgot” from time to time).
I do have teeth that are sensitive to cold so I have found that I need to use room temperature water not cold water straight from the tap for it to be good for me.
My only negative is that you need to have a shaver socket inyou bathroom to be able to use this – maybe a rechargeable model would be better next time.
This is really quite remarkable. You fill the tank with water (I advise lukewarm water, especially if you have sensitive teeth). Then plug in (it has a bathroom plug), attach the relevant head (I chose the brush to help whiten), add one of the whitening tablets to the cap in the handle. Then turn on and prime the water through, before use. Aim at the gaps in your teeth. You can amend settings to the length of time, but you are a little limited by the time it takes to pump all the water through from the tank. It does give your teeth a wonderful clean sensation, as if you have been to the dentist.
There are different heads, aiming to get more into the right point. The idea is that water is the most effective cleaning method. And this is effective. It both flosses and whitens teeth to great effect. This is certainly a must have if you are concerned about the quality of your smile.
Being used to using a traditional tooth brush I was curious about this water flosser. Despite looking rather complicated I did find this whitening water flosser fairly easy to use. Waterpik have produced a good useful flosser that doesn’t require a degree in rocket science to use. The following information about the water flosser may be of help.
Provides all the clinically proven benefits of water flossing plus extra teeth whitening
It takes just 1 minute a day for whiter teeth and a cleaner, fresher and healthier mouth
Removes up to 25% more stains than brushing alone, removes up to 99.9% of plaque from treated areas and is up to 50% more effective for improving gum health than string floss
As gentle as regular toothpaste, use one fresh mint whitening tablet daily – place in the infuser built into the flosser handle to remove stains from hard-to-reach areas, between teeth and at the gum line
Includes 30 Whitening Tablets, 2 Classic Whitening Tips (WJT-100), 1 Plaque Seeker Whitening Tip (WPS-100), 1 Orthodontic Whitening Tip (WOD-100), Tip Storage Case, 3-year warranty and two-pin plug for use with a UK shaver socket plug (100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz)
As I said this is a nice and durable whitening professional water flosser by Waterpik.
I’d long been curious about these devices so was keen to try one when the opportunity presented itself! The product is really easy to set up and straight away when taking it out of the box you can tell that it is made from quality materials. Just plug it into a shaver charger socket and you’re pretty much good to go.
The variety of heads mean it can be put to versatile use for everyday dental hygiene but also for specific scenarios such as use with braces. All needs are catered for in a single product.
Now I can enjoy that “just been to the hygienist” feel at home, all the time!
I first came across the idea of the water-pik in American novels of the 1970s, it being one of an array of exotic-sounding domestic appliances apparently universally owned by American suburbanites, along with TV remote controls and microwave ovens.
This side of the pond, we got the ovens and TV remotes some time back, of course, but the water flosser seems to have taken a bit longer to reach our shores, this review item being the first one I’ve ever actually seen in real life.
This is possibly because a) British people have a famously cavalier attitude to dental care, or B) our bathrooms simply aren’t big enough to store bulky devices, the latter certainly being my initial problem.
It’s not that it’s ridiculously enormous or anything – it’s about the size of a kettle – but, like most British bathrooms, I don’t have any counter space around the sink, and the shelf above the sink is full of all the other gubbins demanded of 21st century personal hygiene. All of my Dad’s requisites (razor, toothbrush and a small bar of soap) fitted into a single tin mug. That’s not the products fault, of course, but it is worth considering if you’e in the market for one. Even shaver sockets in bathrooms still seem to be a rarity in this country, too
But I digress. The modus operandi is you fill it with warm water, stick a whitening tablet in the handle, choose the most appropriate tip – you get four –
choose the pressure setting (It goes from Gentle to Slightly Terrifying) and turn it on via the body of the machine or the handle. And it’s certainly effective – you feel like you’ve had a trip to the dentist for a cleaning after using it, minus of course the expense and awkward conversation. It’s certainly going to become a regular part of my ever-lengthening beauty regime. (My Dad just had a razor, a toothbrush and a nub of shaving soap. Did I mention that?)
Anyway, to summarize:
Pros: Very effective, high quality piece of kit. You can see why Americans have such top-notch gnashers.
Cons: Expensive, Another tenner a month for the tablets, too, if you want to use the whitening feature. You need space by the bathroom sink and a
shaver socket.
Having had three implants last year my dental hygienist has impressed upon me the importance of flossing daily to avoid infections in the new teeth.
This water flosser is impressive, so easy to set up and use. I have very sensitive teeth so I use warm water and have suffered no bleeding. This machine is a considered purchase at almost 100.00 but what an investment.
The flosser is powerful, easy to set up and more than does what it says it does. My bottom teeth are very close together and it is virtually impossible to floss manually so this is superb. It does take a bit of getting used to and the downside is you need a shaver point in the bathroom which I don’t have so I have to use an extension lead but apart from that I cannot praise this machine highly enough.
I have been using now for just over a week and am delighted with the results.
The unit occupies a relatively small footprint, stands on five rubber anti slip feet and the handle is attached to the reservoir unit by a reasonable length of mini tubing which coils up neatly. The quick start guide takes you through the one-off initial priming process and fitting the tips is easy.
In the case of this model you load a whitening tablet into the handle – it would be good to know if you can use the machine without a tablet inserted especially as you use one with each flossing session. If you can’t use the unit without the tablets you’ll have to budget for the extra cost of a months supply of tablets (one pack = 30 tablets). The reservoir is primed with warm water, this is a key advantage over the cordless handheld variety as the reservoir is easily generous enough for one flossing session. This unit is also more powerful than the cordless type flosser.
The controls are logical — there’s an on/off switch (as well as one on the actual hand unit), a floss/gum massage setting and a rotary dial which controls the pressure of the water jet. You just have to find the right setting for you — which is a process of trial and error plus there’s plenty of guidance on the flossing process.
Although it feels a bit strange at first the process soon becomes second nature and the machine isn’t too noisy either. The different tips make a difference and my understanding is that unlike other Waterpik models the tips are specific to this version as it has the whitening feature.
After use your mouth will feel just like you’ve been the dentist/hygienist and not only is there an immediate freshness but my mouth stay fresher for much longer. The whitening function is probably best judged over longer term use but I’m working on the base of my front teeth as they are slightly off white. I’ll update this review after a few weeks in this respect.
In summary, this is well made/designed machine that seems to work well in terms of flossing/gum massage and, in the longer term whitening. Recommended.
My previous Waterpik Ultra flosser allowed the spray head to rotate in the handle which could make it a bit awkward as the spray head could twist when trying to press it into a small gap. However, this Waterpik Whitening Professional Water Flosser version the spray head is fixed making it much easier.
Another improvement with this Waterpik Whitening Flosser flosser is the ability to put a whitening tablet direct into the handle. It is too early to say if the whitening action works but the tablet does give the water jet a nice minty flavour.
The water jet is certainly powerful enough, maybe too powerful on the maximum setting and the on/off switch on the handle is very useful.
Two other useful features are the massage function which gives the water spray in pulses and sometimes seems to work just that little bit better than a continuous spray and also a hinged lid to cover the water tank.
The only downside to me is the cost of the Whitening tablets. At 9.99 (05/03/18) for a box of 30 they do seem a bit on the pricier side and I find that one tablet is spent after one use of the flosser (depends how much water you use when flossing – I use a full bowlful), but you do not have to use them the flosser works perfectly well without.
