It’s amazing how easy it is to install and format quickly. If you prepare a cross screwdriver in advance and watch a video on YouTube, there is an official video directly from them, so you have it in two minutes. It works fantastically.

I bought it because I was tired of the limited storage space that the console comes with by default. It was easy to install, and when I turned on the console, the memory was immediately recognized and formatted.

The product arrived well packaged and without any damages.

So far, I have no complaints about the product. I recommend it if you want to increase the storage capacity of your console.

It works perfectly on my PS5.

Habe vor 3 Tagen meine WD Black 850 2TB zusammen mit der PS5 CoD MWII im Bundle bekommen!Hatte erst berlegt die SSD gleich schon vor der ersten Inbetriebnahme einzubauen!Hab es dann aber verworfen, weil ich erst mal die ntigen Updates installieren wollte!Gesagt,getan!PS5 aufgemacht,Deckel ab,SSD rein und gestartet!F,wurde nicht erkannt!Das Spiel ca.10 mal wiederholt,SSD raus,gestartet runtergefahren SSD rein!Immer das selbe,sie wurde einfach nicht erkannt!
Dann bei Amazon reklamiert,kam sofort eine Rckmeldung ob ich das Geld oder eine weitere
SSD des gleichen Typs haben mchte?!Ich mochte!Zack nchsten Tag kam die neue WD Black(die alte geht natrlich zurck)!
Mit zittrigen Fingern die neue alte WD eingebaut(hatte es ja mittlerweile schon oft gemacht)und nach dem Starten kam dann sofort das erhoffte Formatierungs Men!
Endlich ist alles so wie es soll!Schaufel gerade Spiele von meiner USB 3.0 Platte auf die WD!
Also nicht den Kopf hngen lassen,alles wird gut!

Hab gestern noch die Rezessionen durch geforstet und fand mindestens 5 Kunden die das gleiche Problem hatten,was dann darauffolgenden Tag behoben wurde!Ist mir ein Rtsel warum so viele SSD’s nicht gleich funzen!?

Me llego en buen estado, todo sellado y original. Puede que el precio sea algo caro, pero la verdad vale mucho la pena. Es muy fcil de instalar y no quita ms de 5 minutos, mi PS5 lo detecto sin problemas al momento de encenderla y ahora estoy ms tranquilo sabiendo que tengo espacio suficiente en mi consola, y ya podre comprar ms videojuegos sin la necesidad de estar eliminando juegos para instalar otros por el tema del espacio.

Claramente va a ser un producto caro, pero ya no tenemos que batallar por el espacio de almacenamiento en la consola.
Nada ms tuve que buscar videos de como instalarla y es muy fcil hacerlo la verdad.
Es mucho ms rpido que el almacenamiento externo, totalmente la recomiendo.

So I recently got a ps5 and I started to download some of my old games on it. Let’s just say within 6 games I’d run out of storage on my ps5. So I started looking at way to increase my storage. There are a lot of options out there. Which leaves you with a decision. What do you pick 1tb 2tb or more. So I came across this drive a 2tb drive with a heat sink. The reason I picked this one was because it was recommended by Sony. Now I don’t normally go down the official route. But I have brought unofficial storage for my Nintendo switch and it gaves me no end of problems. So I recommended not to pay less on such an important part of your PlayStation. All thought I think I’m tec savey I was still worried about installing it to my ps5. But after a YouTube surch on how to install a sad into a ps5 I started to do it. I have to say it’s quite simple other than the few minutes it took me to install the drive to the ps5 I did it. I screwed the drive into place and turned it back on. After a minute the PlayStation formated the new drive and I was good to go. I now have plenty of space for all of my games. I know it’s expensive but it’s well worth the cost, if you can Offord it then I’d probably spend that bit more on a 2tb drive if not 1tb should give you enough space for around 8 to 10 games.

The reason I got the one terabyte version of this is because I didn’t really need 2 TB. This stands up just in loading times compared with say a firecuda it seems having faster SSDs by a few hundred mb’s does not really matter differences with minimal, and sometimes this drive was even faster. Who knows maybe the firmware is more tuned for gaming somehow if that’s possible. Also, even though it’s a 96 layer, it doesn’t seem to suffer in load and game speeds versus the 176 layer versions. The one terabyte is also single sided so will run cooler and there’s more space in the M.2 slot especially in the new 12 series PS5 which I have, as there’s no circuit board in the slot. You’re not going to really notice the difference between the Firecuda or the seagate gaming M.2 (Firecuda in blue and black with gaming firmware) really as on the tests I’ve seen on YouTube they all seem to load pretty much the same, so a 96 layer versus 176 layer with a couple of hundred more megabits per second won’t make any difference in your perception or the loading of your games or the running of them, also I like the fact that this has been tested with for the PS5 so if anything does go wrong at least you’re using the one that’s approved by Sony so they can’t say it wasn’t compatible. Also if you reset your PS5 all your games stay on the M.2 so you don’t lose anything which surprised me, it gives you the option to wipe the drive after reinstalling but you don’t have to so literally all your games and saves will stay on the drive. I think 2 TB is a bit of an overkill for my useage because I don’t plan to keep the every game I have on the drive and most PS5 games are a lot smaller than the PS4 ones. They’re kind of average around 70 GB compared with well over 100GB for most of the PS4 ones, a one terabyte should hold 9 games I think which is more than enough for my needs but the 2tb is great value and at the time of writing this is 199. So no sign of lag after hours of use, and there might possibly be firmware differences although I don’t know if that’s true or not, between the SN850X and this SN850 PS5 model. It also says SN850 PS5 in the menu, so it’s definitely been programmed with something for the PS5 whether it’s just a name or they’ve tweaked the firmware to make it better for gaming better rather than it just being a normal drive, rather like CCTV CMR spinning hard hard drives that have firmware to help not drop frames per second and are designed to run for incredibly long hours as they run 24/7, compared with a normal SMR hard drives in a computer. So who knows about the real or perceived firmware differences, but enjoy your gaming knowing its been tested for 300 hours with the ps5 no matter what size you get.

A great product and a must for any PS5 gamer. Why go for 1TB when you can have 2TB. There is just one slot for this in the PS5 so get the right one first time. It is easy to install and gives full freedom when installing and playing PS5 games

Well worth the expense as it’s officially licensed product.
Really easy to install and if needed there’s a video’s on YouTube on how to do it, takes less than 5mins to do.
Has really great read/write speeds too, can’t fault it been using for couple weeks now no problems.

Highly recommend it.

The only reasons you’d want to buy this should be (a) you like official/branded stuff for 100% compatibility or (b) it is cheap on a deal. Otherwise the normal WD SN850/850X with heatsink or not is very much the same SSD.

Naturally this is TLC NAND with DRAM cache (1GB?) and PCIe4 x4 lane connection.

You can also toggle 4k LBA (preferred) or 512-byte (default) when secure erasing / provisioning.

Performance is naturally stellar, with 7GB/s read and 6.5GB/s write and thus exceeded PS5 requirements. Do note that there may be firmware updates to apply in a PC before you install it in a PS5. Naturally you can use it in a PC and use the WD software to change the RGB LED light.

I am normally a Samsung SSD guy, but this WD seems to slightly beat even the Samsung 980 Pro which is no mean feat.

Only negative is that you may wish you bought the 2GB… or even 4GB one ;))

It was so easy to install . And it was a reminder to clean the console also . Just look how much dust accumulated in 6 months, Its amazing, screwed the screws out installed it in put the screws back in . Covers back on, Booted back up the Playstation formatted it because it asked me too took about 1 minute to do so at the most and it rebooted and I was back up and running . The only downside to me are the price for the little stick of memory lol . But at least I got it in the Black Friday sale for 200 . Cant compare it to other brands had ive only tried this brand with them been so expensive . But have ive had loads of WD products and they haven’t seems to let me down .

Wanted to buy this as my PS5 hard drive is nearly full.
Easy to install(just look on youtube) but just take care in opening your PS5.
This expansion card is an add on hard drive which is slotted and screwed into place and is an extra hard drive card on top of the built in hard drive on the PS5.
I use this expansion card to only save PS5 games and I also have an external hard drive connected to the PS5 to only save PS4 game.
It’s a lot of money buy when on sale ,you won’t regret your purchase.

This was installed on our PS5 to increase internal storage as we already had an external usb drive but not all games would run from it.

Relatively easy to install ( but I’ve built and upgraded pcs since my first 286 machine do it doesn’t worry me opening up a machine). The only thing I would say is make sure you have the right size screwdriver and look up the instructions on the PlayStation site before you start.

Having installed it the console recognised that the extra storage was there and we are happily loading and playing games from it now.

A little expensive but we felt it was worth it.

Love it wish it had been done 2 years ago, very easy to fit, I would advise cleaning ur ps5 while u have the sides of but all in all ten out of ten, I now have a storage port I can play a game straight from instead of copying it from the hard drive external storage. Internal the way to go
