Am enjoying this bbq which is my first non throw away. Easy to assemble. Large area to grill on. Three whole sea bream and six very very large prawns were all on there at once!
I use individual bags of briquettes which work well and just fit in.
Happy with this purchase! Easily portable but sturdy, big enough to grill for 2-3 people. Makes very nice grilled food. Airflow controls easy to use, when finished with grilling you shut off the air and the briquettes are out within 3 minutes (often can be used a second time). Recommended.
I like the size of this for 2-3 people, useful and easy to store.. a little bit of a pain to have to b me down to it but overall not an issue really.. you use it 10-20 times over the summer and the rest of the time it can be tucked away so very suitable for 2-3 people.
Have cooked chicken skewers, burgers, chicken breasts and steaks for 3 people on it all without issue
I have a few webers, this one is as good a quality as the rest. Only quibble is it could do with an air vent lower down under the coals to draw air up when the lid is on instead of the 2 on the sides.
My husband wasn’t a huge fan of doing bbqs. Mainly because it meant he was doing tea & secondly his excuse to deny the main reason that he cared so much for us all he was worried he wasn’t cooking the meat. Gave him this with a pack of beers & slowly built his confidence up. Now he has connected drinking whilst cooking tea & he is very happy. We have had plenty bbqs over the summer & has gained confidence.
Perfect size, love the colour. Most importantly, he hasn’t poisoned me.
Similar issues to other people but the paint cracked on first use. I’ve tried contacting the company three times for a replacement lid under warranty but I have had no response what so ever. We noted on the instructions to not over tighten due to paint cracking and we did not, but even for the price this should not happen.
Love it! Matches big Weber. I did the nuts up very gently and haven’t had an issue with paint cracking. It’s good to be aware of the potential pitfall but just chill and enjoy your bbq.life’s to short to worry about paintwork.
Already own a number of different weber products, have a bigger 57cm kettle. Was on at a good price, and wanted something for quick cooks. Really pleased with it, simple to use, and nothing beats cooking on briquettes!
Great little BBQ, only quality issue is green enamel chips when screwing down handle but can’t really notice
Not cheap but works great if you follow instructions and leave a good 30 mins to allow charcoal to get ho
Used this for a camping trip for 4. Perfectly adequate, whilst small still big enough to do a decent meal. Bought on Amazon warehouse and whilst couple of scratches nothing to make any difference. Great buy!
Thought this was a great purchase. After reading the reviews after I bought the product, I was scared the paint work would get chipped.
It didnt.
Also seen the go anywhere in the shops, and compared them. More than happy with what I bought.
We don’t BBQ that often, more often than not it is when we come home from work and smell the neighbours having a BBQ. We bought this Weber BBQ because it very sturdy, easy to assemble, large enough for two of us, easy to clean, takes little space up and during the winter months simply goes into the loft with ease.
The tough enamel coating comes up like new each time, the lids locks in place for easy transportation.
We use it in the garden but I would highly recommend it for the beach or camping trips. But it is still the perfect size for home use too.
One thing I must say though….. you MUST get a Weber chimney starter too. Makes lighting the charcoal easy and takes any stress out of the BBQ experience. 10/10 all the way!
Very good product, it’s a Webber so you get what you paid for! Best portable bbq I bought. It’s small and easy to carry. Surprisingly can cook a lot of food on it for being so small.
I read previous reviews and was careful not to overtighten the screws. It went together well and, having used it twice, am very pleased with the cooking area and the way it cleans up. Although small, we have found it keeps its heat and have barbecues for 6 people and still had hot coals at the end.
Own a few Weber products. This makes cooking during camping or on the beach so much easier. It’s a good size and light weight. Quality is outstanding! Very well made portable braai!
Bought was we went into lockdown in an attempt to use the garden more. Love this. Easy to assemble. Easy to clean and it can be sorted away in a small space. We bought a chimney to get the coals going which made the whole experience even simpler.
Size wise it’s perfectly adequate to cook for 4 – 6 people no issue whatsoever ever.
Great little piece of kit.
Purchased for a relative. So far they haven’t used it.
“It’s too nice to use” “I don’t want to get it dirty” “I love the colour”
Seriously it’s an amazing little BBQ, portable, well made and very easy to use on a table top. Highly recommended. .
Had loads of use out of this over the summer; quick and easy to set up and I bought the travel bag too so it’s been camping and to the beach. Agree with other reviewers that the enamel chips around the handle screws during assembly, but to be honest, it’s not going to look pristine once it’s been used a bunch, so it wasn’t a worry for me.
I read all the reviews before purchasing this product so I was aware that lots of buyers had experienced an issue with the enamel on the lid cracking off when the handle was fitted, but I liked the look of the thing and it was just what we wanted for camping so I decided to chance it. When it arrived my husband put it together being super careful not to over tighten the nuts holding the handle in place. So far, so good. Then…….he lifted up the carrying handle (the thin, metal one) and fitted it into the indentation in the handle of the lid, as described in the instructions. It was a tight fit, but he eased it into place and then, crack! Enamel around one of the holes shattered and lots of little bits fell off leaving a bare area about the size of a ten pence piece around the hole. Not to worry as it is hidden from view by the actual handle and I still love the product so it still gets five stars. I feel like it was sort of our fault as, when the handle was being pushed home, there was this sort of warning, “tinking” sound. So my advice would be this; don’t put the two handles together if you need to move the BBQ while it is hot. Just carry the lid in one hand and the base (by the thin handle) in the other. I suppose the thin handle is also supposed to act as a locking mechanism to keep the lid on in transit but I can live without this feature if it stops the lid being damaged further.
Brilliant bbq that I think cooks better than my big Webber. The handle on top has split of some enamel off though. Not a deal breaker but a problem area from looking at other reviews . Not ideal which is a shame
Very easy to assemble, but much helped by other reviews urging caution on screw tightness. Cooks really well and closed down quickly. Very easy to clean, unlike previous barbecues. Very well made and much sturdier than it looks. Altogether a very clever piece of kit.
My first barbecue.
I wanted something compact that would be suitable for 2 people.
I saw this was on special offer and decided to spend that little bit more on a well known make.
Only this colour was on offer, so if I’d had the choice I probably would have chosen the black, but I must say when it arrived I was very impressed, I think the colour is very smart, (Photo 1 + 2).
Assembly is very straightforward. Just make sure you have the legs the right way around.
I built the 3 legs as a unit first, and then attached them to the lower body.
Make sure you use the washers when you put the side vent covers and spring bar on.
As a general point, only tighten all the screws to just past hand tight. Else, you could damage the enamel coating, although I haven’t had any problem with mine.
I must say, I think the design is very clever.
The metal bar acts as a spring to keep the lid on tight when not in use.
Then, when you want to use the barbecue, the bar clips into a slot at the back, and the lid of the barbecue, then rests on that.
It’s very secure, and works really well in use.
Being new to barbecuing, I opted for Webers own charcoal.
I found it very good. Lots of big chunks which burn for a long time.
Don’t forget to open the side and lid vents when cooking, to create a nice through draft.
The design and size, really helps to concentrate the heat and after 10 minutes, it was hot enough to start cooking the food.
The cooking area is quite small, so I would say it wouldn’t be suitable for more than 2 people, if like me, you cook a variety of foods at the same time.
I’ve now had 3 barbecues, and every one has been a delight.
As you can see from the photos, I have mine on a wooden table. Even at the hottest temperatures the base of the legs stay cool to the touch, so you could put this barbecue on any surface.
Overall, I’m very pleased with my choice, yes, it is more expensive than other makes, but it is very well engineered and rock solid in use.
I hope you found this review helpful.
Absolutely made up with this grill, perfect for small cooks and runs low and slow very consistently. It’s small but for someone learning the art of bbq it’s a very forgiving set up
I’ve used this 4 or 5 times now and I’m really happy with it. There’s 3 of us and it’s a good size for that. I bought the ivory coloured one and it looks fantastic. Really nice quality, and sturdy. Super easy to use with the briquettes, and easy to clean. I haven’t had the occasion to take it outside of the garden yet with the recent lockdown, but it’s light enough and a good size to be portable and easy to move. I like the way there’s a metal piece which goes over the handle to stop it opening when it’s not in use. I expect I’ll take it on days out with me.
Fantastic small kettle BBQ – ideal for the wife and myself. Small but still able to accommodate indirect cooking methods like it’s bigger brother in the garage ( 57cm kettle one touch gourmet system )and just because it is smaller doesn’t mean to say it’s not built to the same high standards as the rest of the range. The weather has been great this week and it’s been used every day. After cooking close off all 3 vents and that will kill the flames and is safe to carry thanks to the locking handle which doubles as a lid rest come windbreak. Very easy to clean also. Totally recommend this BBQ.
Picture shows a Poussin on the grill using indirect method… I would say 4 birds could be cooked using half the grill plate.
This is a great addition and option too. I have a bigger classic weber grill and now I can enjoy its versatility in a smaller package and take it along picnics. Only regret is it hasn’t arrived sooner. Summer’s gone. It shall wait for the semestral break before it can be put to use. And it is the same model as shown in the pictures. Very glad to have gotten this premium model.
Thought I would buy a barbecue and decided this one looked smart and I only needed a small one so I could take it on camping trips. We cooked sausages and they cooked really good then we did a thin steak which took about 6 minutes I am pleased with my purchase. You can do all sorts of things we put small potatoes in it and they cooked lijed jackets. I never really been a barbecue person but I think this will get plenty of use and it’s easy to clean and easy to store we gave got the smokey Joe carry bag and the chimney starte
Looked for ages at reviews and as it was hard to find a bad one for these little barbies I splashed out and I’m pleased that I did. The quality of this product is fab, it’s certainly too good to be left outside and so is nice and snug in our garage!
The food cooked better in this than any other barbecue I’ve had, charcoal or gas, it was very even and with no burning/charring.
Definitely a great buy! Just wish I’d bought it earlier in the year – hope we get some summer again next year!
My father has a Smokey Joe, and we had a brilliant time with it last summer, so I bought another for our shared holiday house. I have a big bbq at my own place, and have made good use of it, but setting it up for one or two people is a huge waste of charcoal so I waited for a black Smokey Joe to come down in price (to justify owning two bbqs!). Unfortunately, it didn’t. But this one, a dreadful light yellowy-brown colour, was on massive special offer at the end of the season. It is a truly vile colour but it works like a dream.
This model comes with the invaluable carrying handle, which doubles as a lid rest (and is not provided if you order the Smokey Joe Original). It has a grate to keep the bottom vent clear and a grill on to which to put the items you are cooking. Both the bowl section and the lid have vents, which allow the draw and the heat to be controlled. It is otherwise nonadjustable (you cannot raise or lower the grill). It also comes with a measuring tub, which allows you to follow the instructions to put just the right amount of fuel into the bowl.
There are two instruction manuals, one to assemble the device and the other to use it. The assembly instructions are unusually good, providing easy to follow guidelines. I am useless with self assembly items but had this put together in 10 minutes. The other instruction guide includes invaluable guidelines for cooking small items like chops and sausages and larger items like roasting joints, with the lid off and on, and gives timing guidelines for various different meats, fish and vegetables.
Using it has been a joy. I have cooked both the standard sausages, steak, chops, and burgers fare, which was easy and very satisfying. It means that if I feel like it of an evening I can just throw a bbq together with no real thought. It does a great job with swordfish and tuna, as well as vegetables.
With rather more trouble I have also cooked large cuts of meat over a drip tray, although it took a few goes to get this right. A drip tray is a metal tin filled with water, which is set in the middle of the charcoal. The meat is placed over the drip tray on the grill to prevent it burning. Because the drip tray occupies quite a large area it means that lighting the charcoal is more difficult because there is less of the bowl in use to place charcoal and firelighters. I used too many large chunks of charcoal in combination with too few fire lighters first time round and had to start again. I also managed to drop some of the firelighter into the water on one occasion, which flavours the water, of course, and would flavour the food if allowed to remain. It’s a knack, but it works when you get into the routine.
It takes up very little space, is easy to lift, and is easy to store.
This is a professional piece of kit and well worth owning. I do wish that I had forked out the extra for the black one though, because the colour makes me flinch every time I look at it!
