Unfortunately i received it without foam or any kind of protectio
Was expecting OEM type packaging but it came in proper retail box. It’s hard to find OEM drives at this size and capacity for the price I paid.
Not the fastest of drives but does what it should.
This is the second one of these I have had but please note the add is misleading, the 1tb is a 7200rpm not 5400rpm , thought this might be useful info for some one 🙂 great HD though , cheers
21-Apr-22: I received the new 4TB HD from Amazon, seller is Amazon, the stock is the older faster EZRZ model with 64GB cache.
Western Digital hard drives have generally given me good service in the past.
I bought this to breathe new life into my old laptop, reliable, good spec and performance.
It was very easy to install and I soon had my operating system reinstalled.
Overall, very pleased.
Fast efficient Mega storage
Top of the line for me
Wanted this for my Humax recorder, great replacement and good value and quick delivery
Good solid reliable hard drive, replacement in a desktop, no issues and as expected…worked from the get go
I have used WD for years and I do prefer them over seagate but I do used both don’t know what to write here other than they are good reliable Hdd but I guess it’s each Hdd to its own some last and some don’t hopefully all of us who purchased one lasts a life time
Surprisingly they even gave me some screws to install it. Too bad i misplaced my hdd brackets so i have to get them back from my old country when I’ll visit this summer.
It feels of good quality but i have something to say about it. I don’t use it as a main drive.
I have one 250ssd for windows, 1tb ssd another seagate 1tb hdd that I recycled from my old burnt out laptop and this 2TB WD blue.
And however it makes like a squeeky/chirping sound when i start my computer, i hope its not a bad sign. I installed lots of games on it and i still got left 1.3TB.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: it uses Shingled magnetic recording (SMR) which means that if you use it as a main drive for everything and you feel most of it up it will start to feel laggy. Because it needs time work through the deleted data and if you are using it in the meantime it will feel like its slow.
Thats why i bought it only to store stuff in there and maybe some online games, that’s it. And i sometimes need to access something on it but most of the time it has enough time to do his thing without slowing down for me. If you want something for main storage i recommend an ssd for the operating system and daily programs that run constantly while using this hard drive for occasional tasks that are not mandatory to run all the time.
So far, so good. Since the spin rate is faster than the previous model it is more noisy (5,500 spin rate from memory). Use it as a back up device so no great hardship. You might notice it within a PC perhaps. Outside you do. This is the new line. Use Amazon Prime since in the past the Marketplace ones had manufacturing issues in the older model so the pins didn’t line up with the brackets where you slide them into those racks for swapable storage. I was kind enough to exchange my good ones with the partners defective batch. Always best to stick to Prime for drives and solid state memory rather than market place sellers where dubious items can see the light of day.
Ran a long generic SMART test on this as soon as it arrived – very compact but securely packaged, and it clearly did it’s job, as there wasn’t any developing or current bad sectors. As with any HDD, don’t rely on one for sensitive information – they’re not reliable or durable. I’ve had loads of bad experiences with all brands of HDD, but WD are reasonably priced and you get what you expect.
I only use it as a external as i had a enclosure
I had to reformat this drive as it clearly had things on it. It did fit in the PS4 and is clearly faster than the seagate drive that was in it before.
If it is not refurbished, why was the anti static wrap broken open and the drive looked like it was fitted harshly into a system.
..which is to sit in a 2 bay external HDD enclosure. The first mech I bought was fine, the second failed and the third was fine. All three had remarkably different prices (supply & demand over time I suppose) but all any of them needs to be is operational, quiet enough and fast enough over a USB 3 interface. Working out fine, so far at least.
In the last few years Western Digital is all I have bought, WD Green, Black and now Blue. I also have two WD Passport drives and have never had any of them fail. I thoroughly recommend these to anyone, there are cheaper drives out there but I know I can depend upon these.
Purchased as external hard drive for backups in my Icy Box. Came in box as illustrated and with screws should you wish to mount internally. No problems and doing as intended.
I use this to store my Plex files. Works like a dream and although it’s only 5400 all of my movies and music load quickly enough. No problems so far at all with it.
Excellent (as far as I can tell, having had the thing in my laptop for a month now) hard drive. This was bought to rescue a Samsung laptop (NV350v5c, if anyone’s interested) whose hard drive had been slowly dying for the previous 3 – 4 months.
The drive was a perfect fit in the laptop body, just necessitating the usual transfer of the caddy from the old drive (‘caddy’ = just a piece of thick silver foil in the Samsung). The re-install of Windows was a different story, but I can’t fault the drive at all. In use it runs quietly and disk access seems to be very fast.
I went for the retail packaging to minimise the risk of a duff or re–furbished product. Even then, ~45 to rescue a 450 laptop seems like a good deal!
Very competitively priced by Maplin and now residing in my ZyXEL-NSA310 media server. No installation was required other than running the ZyXEL NAS Starter Utility. This replaced a WD Red 3TB drive which I had filled up. I have never had a WD drive failure – I have 5 WD drives in my desktop computer and 5 in external enclosures. So far this drive has given no problems. As with all my other WD drives I have disabled the Load/Unload feature to extend the drive’s life. Very happy with this purchase.
I bought this 2TB Western Digital WDBH2D0020HNC-ERSN Desktop Mainstream RTL Kit Internal Hard Drive to use in an Inateck FE3001 3.5″ HDD enclosure November 2015 as a backup drive. Bought the retail pack after being put off by reviews of OEM version being packed poorly, for some buyers. No worries as came in retail box and packed just fine by Amazon. A minor detail at the time was the box had a WD Green sticker on it but contained WD Blue drive. WD were changing over at the time to phase out the Green drives and I knew fine well the specifications of both varieties so no skin off my nose. Drive working flawlessly ever since, as to be honest all the WD drives I have bought over the years.
Yup got greens but at 75 a pop still chuffed but wasn’t blue so 4 stars
did what it said on the box, installed in my Lenovo P50, had to purchase HDD kit separately cable and adapter, note this HDD is slightly thicker than the recommended 7mm for the Lenovo install I had to modify the adapter by cutting top flange to accommodate trimmed with scissors no problem, once installed quick format can use windows own utility in explorer and off you go.
Exactly as described
If you want to use in windows, will need to format to GPT, can use windows built in tools before its formatted….As windows only recognises HDD`s up to 2TB or after formatting will, need third party Free software from paragon etc….
SUPRISED! I EXPECTED THE DRIVE TO COME FROM THE UK. NOT SO. THE TRANSIT ROUTE WAS FROM ITALY TO LYON TO LEEDS TO SHEFFIELD. INSTALLED YESTERDAY AND WORKING SO FAR.
