Great sounding speakers at a reasonable price, very pleased with them.
Far better than the price suggests, although need to be run in for a week or so. Binding post are at weird angles, apparently so the speaker can be placed against a wall. Bass port is built into the base and is omnidirectional, so these speakers can be placed closer against the wall (rather than rear ported speakers that need more space) – either way, most speakers benefit from at least 6″ out from the wall or corner.
The tweeters are fabric rather than overly bright plastic or metal, so more refined than one would expect.
I have twinned these speakers with the Denon DM41 DAB Micro system, and the results are pleasing. Purchased as a gift for a Granddaughter, I am nurturing the next generation of Audiophile in our family.
A good starter speaker for those with aspirational EARS.
Sounds very good alway like wharfedale speakers good all round sound good in small rooms not to much bass nice balance.
Looking for speakers for vocal music listening, a relative in the UK suggested me Wharfedale which is not a well-known brand in France.
At Amazon Wharfedale Diamond 220 was at 117 GBP (delivery charges included) and I ordered a pair of speakers without hesitation. Wharfedale Diamond 220 paired with NAD C316BEE V2 amplifier produce beautiful sound and the speaker box is a fine art for a reasonable budget.
These speakers are banging for the price . Quality sound most enjoyable thank you Warfedale . Would definitely recommend
Very happy with my Wharfedale Diamond 220 Speakers. They look and sound fantastic.
he old ones never let me down just matured with age so if these value for money ones do the same job they will see my life out thank you Lynton +++++
Speaker sounds very good, nice balanced midrage and trebles.
Sounds great with my sub.
Beautiful finish on the speakers and perfect size for table top . I haven’t heard the quality of the sound yet because I forgot to order specific wire . It is now on its way so can’t wait to set them up.
For 125 these cannot be beaten. Excellent sound and can be easily placed in your room due to them having a downward facing bass port.
Always liked warfdale bought them for small room 6 mtrs by 4 mtrs .they work perfectly.with a beautiful balanced sound. for the price they are unbeatable .had a pair of warfdale 300 special edition .which cost 400 pound in there day. but these equal it in every way a bargin
. I’m,a retired musician ,and sound engineer.so I no a good sounding speaker when hear one.and this is a bargin.buy with coffidence.
I opened the box and if I’m honest, although they are heavy, I expected them to be bigger. I connected them to a quite standard denon amp and I also use a Yamaha 100w sub. Really? What is this sorcery? How can a pair of speakers this big fill a room with clean crisp trebles and awesome mids at this price..Wow!
Purchased the first pair of speakers a few years ago for the dining room. When the time came to replace the lounge speakers these were first on my list. Great product and excellent value. Well made speakers with an excellent sound range.
I needed something that captured quality without being deafening, this did exactly this.
After some not too good speakers this was like listening to a live symphony……. oh so soothing on the ears! Even heavy rock! Love them wharfedale been around for ever and as a 70s chick we all dreamed of having wharfedale speakers …….. finally!
Sound quality ia amazing and the quality of the speakers are beautiful
Small but powerful pair of bookshelf speakers. Good clear sound across the full range. They can be double wired if your amp is able. Well made and good looking.
Absolutely blown away with these speakers the clarity is superb and the bass is spot on for a speaker this size.
I listen to all kinds of music from Tech house to 80s stuff, and they sound excellent with everything.
The people giving bad reviews specifically about the bass need to get better amplifiers or set the EQ properly.
You won’t regret buying a set of these, especially for the price.
The decision was based on 3 areas. 1/ Cost. I didn’t want to spend more than 200, since my hifi & DJ gear runs through a Denon M41. So although decent quality, is not exactly audiophile high end. Spending more than 200 seemed excessive for what I required. I.e relatively small speakers. 2/ Looks. Some speakers, like the Dali Spektor just didn’t really do it for me. Having speakers on so prominently display, especially in a small space, need to look as good too. 3/ I wanted speakers that would sound warm but slightly forward in mids, since I really enjoy vocals, whether it’s House, Jazz, Reggae etc. Many 2 way speakers i’d read reviews for, we’re not always great at projecting mid frequencies, and unless you spend a lot more, a 3 way speaker is really the only way to go. Bookshelf speakers seem limited in this design. ELACs make concentric speakers, but we’re beyond my budget.
In summary, having just set these up out of the box, l’m really pleased I chose these. Listening to the Vangelis Bladerunner on CD is so beautiful. Considering these have not even burned yet, they sound absolutely amazing. I cannot fault them. The boom from my old mission 700’s has been replaced with warm, accurate lush low end bass. Treble and mids are also hugely improved with crisp definition and no harshness. Just really good balanced sound. 119, and delivered within 3 working days. Outstanding. Thank you Richersounds, Wharfedale & Amazon.
If you are looking for a high quality entry level bookshelf setup these speakers will not disappoint. I have paired with an Onkyo A-9010 and am a very happy customer.
Considering the inexpensiveness these do a remarkable job! Obviously you could spend a lot more and get better sound but this is highly adequate for everyday use if you ask me
Nice clear sound for home cinema these combined with sub woofer are a match made in heaven you hear all the details in a home cinema environment I bought 2 pairs and they sound fantastic I would recommend for a small to medium size room you will not be disappointed
I did some research before I bought these…I studied the interweb furiously before handing over any pennies because I didn’t want fleeced. I needn’t have worried these speakers are simply wicked. I love em
Great pair of speakers! Sound crisp and clear, but not fatiguing. Bass good enough for the size, but if you used to rich low end presence necessary to add something like diamond SW150.
Superb sound. I replaced faulty Mission speakers (horrible crackling) with these speakers and it’s like having a new system. So much clearer sound with smooth mid range sound and beautiful bass. I would thoroughly recommend these speakers.
Product was exactly as advertised and was delivered to my pick up point (Currys) within 2 days
I haven’t had such a decent set of speakers before and I was grinning ear to ear with the vocals – I thought the singer was in the room with me.
