Construction is not brilliant personally I don’t think it would take much to force it open. It’s supplied with two bolts for installation either via the back for wall fitting or the base for ground fitting. Personally I won’t be using the supplied bolts as they are fixed with 2 plastic wall plugs. I will be mounting with 10mm wrawl bolts as with the supplied fixings it would take literally seconds to forcibly remove. Obviously if someone is determined it wouldn’t take much to remove it but at least its a bit more of a deterrent.
Very quick delivery, very impressed with the quality of the safe.
Very easy to use.
Peace of mind to know its coded and no-one else can use it.
This is great, so easy to use and install, instructions were so simple, didn’t need them any how, I’d recommend to anyone who needs somewhere to keep money or valuebals x
good safe holes in it to bolt to the wall bery easy to set up
Used to keep pain killers and other non child friendly things from the kids. This is very front heavy so even when on the floor the weight of the door pulls the safe over. It’s clearly designed to be fixed to a wall or the floor so can’t complain.. with some stuff stacked on top of it in the corner of the bedroom it’s all good. East to configure and open, nothing bad to say for the money
Happy with this. Fairly easy to install and use.
Make sure you read the instructions to operate.
Used to keep some valuables and important documents. Easy to install and feels vey solid. Instruction to use are clear and it works well
Some of the holes were a bit out of line when trying to secure it in place.
But all the same good value for money
Great product easy to fit, very sturdy I like digital and key options.
It is very small inside though I didn’t allow room for the door to close
Perfect and of great quality! A little small interior but still works for men.
This save is as strong as u can get and need
Easy to fix to my wall, seems to be safe and secure. Codes easy to set up
This is a small safe for the home, very good for keeping things like passports, smaller items of jewellery and a bit of cash in, let’s not get carried away here, if you’ve got thousands and thousands of s worth of jewellery etc then your gonna be spending more than 50 to keep it safe, the internal dimensions are not huge but are decent, the build quality is decent, the fitting is easy, drill some holes and secure it with the supplied fittings, i went one step further and secured it back and bottom, it’s also of a size that can be easily hidden, comes with 2 override keys so tuck them away somewhere, good little safe.
Cheap, decent safe. I would recommend this for casual home use. Certainly not for keeping your life savings in! The fixing bolts didn’t seem that great so if securing this I would suggest using better quality fixings.
Safe was easy to set up however many people have complained that they couldn’t find the Red Button!
You need to open the door, and inside near the hinge on the side of the lock housing is a black knob that comes off and the red button is under that.
I have three of these. One at home and two at work and they’re all fine. The home one hasn’t had same batteries in it for a few years now although it doesn’t get opened much as it just conceals the cctv system and hard drive (after I drilled holes in the back for cables!). The ones at work gets used a lot and batteries need changing every 6-9 months. Keep the keys safe as they’ll get you in if the batteries die while it’s shut. Tbh you get plenty of warning on screen when the batteries are low!
Had now since 2012, and still working as should (on same set of batteries although i will replace, now i realise how long they have been installed). No problems with this unit as i would expect from a brand like Yale. Highly recommended.
I have read reviews here stating this safe is hard to setup, don’t believe a word of it, it is actually super simple with very clear instructions that a 5-year-old could understand. The safe is now securely fitted to the wall, I’m 100% happy with my purchase.
great little safe. does what it says on the tin. easy to use and program. feels quite robust for its size. i had to file a bit off the plastic battery cover was an extremely tight and not very secure fit.
It’s decent sized and very easy to set up. Nice addition of emergency keys for when the batteries go. For the money it is a bargain but don’t expect tons of space. That said, I’ve got my insurance policies, passports, spare keys and stuff in there and there is plenty of space left.
For the money this is great. Simple to use clear instructions. Purchased for use at work. I mean if you want an impenetrable safe then obviously not but strong and sturdy. Comes with batteries and is boltable downable. Bolts included.
This is great. A medium size safe, strong and can be wall mounted (screws and plugs provided). The locking system is very good and just a little tip; you need to temporarily remove the small covering labelled ‘Yale’ to open the safe initially with the key.
I now have a place to safely keep my lottery win, instead of using my wallet! Thank you.
I like this. It reads small but the inner compartment has a good amount of space. The unit feels solid and secure. It comes with two batteries and two bolts. There is mention in the manual of a cover for the red button inside the safe; Yale confirms there isn’t a cover for this particular model. No need to worry; all is good.
This will not keep a determined thief out for long, if he has tools. Her majesty the Queen won’t be buying one to protect any crown jewels, but for keeping private material secure or locating in a hidden place where it’s hard to attack or find – I love it. It’s easy to use and at 35 or so great value, also VERY good for keeping things away from children.
I Personally could`t open the safe by banging the top, but I am not challenging that as many people seem to agree that it is possible.
Fitted to a wall and with no open space above is the answer against this problem, but saying that the two bolts supplied we useless,
they both sheared off whilst doing them up causing big problems, in the end I drilled more holes in the back and used
stronger fittings, but I still think it is well worth the money, to me it is much better than a biscuit tin or under the mattress.
It’s ok for the amount you pay for it, but no more.
The safe is WAY too light!
The locking mechanism is a little flimsy, although it seems to be working so far.
What I like is that you can connect it to the wall or a shelf.
Be careful though, as the door is about 6 times as heavy and thick as the rest of the safe, so if it’s empty and stands on the edge of something with the door open, it will just fall down as the door weighs more than the safe.
Great little safe, easy to use and fit. Comes with two screws to fix to the floor or wall. I would recommend fitting to both however, as when I fitted to the floor only, I was unsure as to how secure it was, so used a couple of extra screws to fit to the wall, happy with the result.
I don’t use it for the Electronic ability. I made that mistake of putting the keys inside and it running out of battery when I was a kid and it’s scarred me ever since. Thankfully I’m not that stupid these days I hope and just encase I am, there is a nice sticker warning me not to put the keys inside. Which is always a nice reminder. However more importantly. This thing is sturdy. If it isn’t bolted into a wall, still very steal-able and your average crook will just take drill or something to it when they get back to theirs. Don’t know how crooks would operate personally, but I’d just advice you keep it out of sight if your one of those who didn’t just buy it to stop their sneaky little brother stealing your magazines. Kid’s still read magazines?
Anyway you are given 2 keys. Some bolts, a nice thin little bit of foam, and I believe batteries are kindly given as well.
A most excellent and speedy customer service, ensured I got the right safe for my needs. It’s the perfect size as I wished, and easy to set up & use. After an initial inconvenience, I got exactly what I needed.
Inside the safe is all kept cool by the metal, & the keypad being very simple and easy to use. Thanks
I work for a company where we keep a small amount of cash during the day and some of the staff were a little unsure about leaving it in an aluminium cash box with the key left in it!
For the 35 I paid for it, it is a very sturdy box. Despite being described as a “Home Safe” it does the job fine for us and is particularly useful in an environment where 5 or 6 people need to have access, so they can all share a code rather than having to find individual keys.
There are a couple pointers that aren’t mentioned in the description. There are fixing bolts included in the box – 2 very long bolts and wallplugs to match. Personally I can’t comment on them because I needed to fix it to a surface other than a wall (so I bought a couple nuts and bolts). The other thing, is that the override key switch is behind the “Yale” logo, which took me a couple minutes to figure out, it only saying “the plastic cover” on the instructions page.
The cover is not particularly strong, considering you will need to open it if ever the batteries die on you.
We haven’t had it long enough to see a full battery cycle to know how long they last, but I’ll update when we change them.
With respect to security, it is made of sheet steel as opposed to solid metal, however I don’t think this compromises the security of it because not only is it quite thick, but is very tough. I could easily get myself and a couple colleagues on top without damaging it! There is a pair of bolts, each about 10mm across, and contrary to what the description seems to suggest, you enter your code and then you have to turn a handle to open it. It’s actually the mechanism that holds the bolts in place that is motorized rather than the bolts themselves.
I don’t see this as a problem though, and everyone is finding it easy to use and so far (*touch wood*) we have been without incident!
A great safe for the price, well recommended!
UPDATE 27/04/13: As promised, I am giving an update about battery life. They still haven’t died! – Will they ever?….
UPDATE 25/07/13: Hmm… These batteries are invincible or the safe just uses very little juice! If I am still alive I will let you know when they run out!
UPDATE 05/01/14: Still going strong… I think you get the idea by now
I have recently taken delivery of this safe, and overall I am very pleased with the quality of the item and the customer service I received from the seller when I had cause to contact them. The quality etc of the safe has been well enough covered by other reviewers, so no need to go over that again. HOWEVER this safe is NOT CASH RATED as advertised. I had cause to question this when the item arrived, and subsequent contact from the seller has confirmed this to be the case. This safe is from the HOME SAFE range, model no ySS0000NFP, and has NO cash rating. I believe the seller to have been unaware of this fact at the time of listing, and they have been most helpful in offering to accept a return. I have also been assured that the specifications on the description will be altered accordingly, but at time of writing this has not yet been done. So if you are considering buying this safe, please do not purchase on the grounds of it being cash rated. It’s a smashing little safe for the money, but if a “cash rating” is a specified endorsement on your insurance policy, be aware that this safe does not fulfil that criteria. Hope this is helpful…..
Pros:
– VERY GOOD VALUE for the price your paying (35)
– Strong steel casing all around
– 3-8 digit password setting
– 3-8 digit M.code setting
– 2 manual override keys
– Comes with 4 batteries
– Its a decent size not too large not too small
– An alarm sounds for 3 minutes if the password is entered 3 times incorrectly.
Cons:
– Padding at the bottom is quite filmsy
– The knob on the safe feels weak when you turn it, like it’s going to break off
– Hand and tool attacks will take hours to break this safe open, so in the case of a robbery you might be in more danger (e.g. crime watch).
Overally a brilliant safe thats well worth the price it is. 5/5
This small safe is perfect for the price. It is extremely easy to set up and function, and is very similar to what you would get in a hotel room. I doubt it is the most robust or fireproof item but you would not expect that for 30! I don’t have any “valuables” as such but wanted a good place to store important items such as my passport.
The safe has bolt holes on the back and the base to allow it to be secured to something solid.
Delivery was rapid and efficient, and as I was out the order was left at my local post-office for collection.
Recommended.
his was a bargain,,was delivered REALLY quick and was easy to set up.
it is built very well with plenty of screw points on back and bottom to secure to
wall or work top.
instructions were easy to read and set up to me 5 mins
they even supplied 4 AA batteries.
well worth the money…
A very well made safe with two spare keys in case the battery goes flat, it was well packed, it was easy to set the digital no’s you can vary the amount of no’s you can programe. I inserted the 4 batteries that it came with by remooving the plastic door in the back of the safe door you then press the small button in the hinge side of the door programe you no’s into the front just follow the instruction manual that it comes with its very good, it also came with two plastic wall plugs and two coach screws about 2in long, a peice of material to put on the base of the safe inside which will help protect any thing from damage. I think it will hold my tom tom, vechicle paperwork money, spare keys, it is very spacious so all of my valuables will be locked away in this fine safe, their are two sets of pre drilled holes two in the floor and two in the back of the safe so it can be well secured on two sides. This is a well made product I would recomend it to anyone.
