This is great for in between major vacuuming sessions. Great suction and the roller idea is good. Also great as hand held for the car..BUT
Waste box is small and needs emptied frequently and that is a major problem for me. I have arthritis in my hands and find that opening the waste box is almost too difficult as is squeezing the silly wee clips that open the filters. ALSO the vacuum doesn’t clip into an upright position. It’s wobbly!
I have heart failure and use a walking stick, because I’m wobbly with oedema. The walking stick hurts my left arm (I’m right-handed), so I can’t easily manage this heavy machine. In particular, I can’t use it on the mats inside my house, because even at the low setting it tries to suck them up!
Had AEG hoovers for years and this one is brilliant as well, light and easy to use but has a roller instead of a brush, very clever idea, cleans up brilliantly
I love this thing. I have changed my floor to hardfloor and wanted to upgrade my cx7 (lasted gnearly 4years!!!, still going strong) It is awsome and the bits fits from my old hoover like charger nozzles and filters!!!! Super happy
A very good appliance – lightweight and easy to use. Very happy.
Arrived on time but the box looked as though it was a return item. Open lengthwise. Sides two cello tapes stuck. Certainly it was not a new box as the inside card boad holder for the vaccum cleaner was also torn.
Contacted Amazon straight away before I unpack completely and I was told I can return. I couldn’t be bothered as I needed one anyway and I decided to give it a go and if it doesn’t work I thought I will return then. No instruction mannual of any kind. Had to figure it out everything myself. No replacement filter cartridge . So if we need one later we have to buy. (if they are available). I used it only two or three times to clean my kitchen and bathroom floors and the power doesn’t seem to last that long as described. Suction is good. My cleaner uses dyson to clean my apartment and so this doesn’t get much use. So it is too early to do a good assessment. I think it is too pricey for what it is but it is the brand that puts the price up.
Like it so much, I am ordering a third one to be shipped to us in California. The run time is so much longer than others. I have Dyson stick but find its handle very uncomfortable to use and it also runs out of zap after about ten minutes.
This is an amazing Vac, wish they sold it in USA so I would not have had to pay such a large shipping fee.
I have 2 of these one for upstairs too, very pleased with this vacuum it works very well
There is nothing to dislike about this hoover. It is lightweight, fantastic suction on the wood and ceramic floors, we don’t have carpets so can’t really comment on that but it cleans the door mats really well and they are of a carpet material. Battery life, can’t fault it I can go through twice and still have power in it. If I had to be really picky it could possibly do with a bigger dust collector compartment but it is a brilliant cordless hoover for the money, I would definitely recommend it.
I’d never tried anything like this before but I’ve since realised how absolutely fantastic this is for hard floors. We’ve had Slim line cordless vacuums before but not ones specifically designed for hard floors.
This is slim and charges up, the head is unusual as it’s not the regular rectangular flat head, it’s a cylindrical soft brush that rotates but also helps polish your floor which is really unique. I also love this as I would worry the hard plastic heads were scratching my floor as they would scrape as I hoover, but not this.
This holds a fantastic charge, I’ve had vacuums that can barely do 20 minutes but this, I’ve had nearly an hour out of before needing to charge again and I can do the whole house.
This is definitely intended for hard floors, this doesn’t do as well on rugs, it tends to drag more as it is meant for wood, laminate etc. I keep a separate handheld vacuum for my sofas and rugs.
Recommended for houses mainly with hard floors, helps polish, picks up well, holds an excellent charge and hasn’t lost any suction since using. This has made a big difference to my floors.
This vacuum cleaner works well on wood and laminate floors, which suits me as I have a lot of wooden flooring. However, this is a limitation in that it is only for this type of flooring. With that in mind, this is otherwise a good battery operated upright vacuum cleaner that is easy to use, empty charge etc.
Super easy to put together and charge.
Easy to use. Easy to empty and clean.
For hard floors only.
Its lightweight enough to push around. Also flexible to get under low tables etc.
I really like the hand held attachment. Great to have two in one.
Pretty expensive but all these cordless hoovers seem to be .
I really like this. It’s super easy to manoeuvre, it’s light enough, and it does a fantastic job.
Testing this was going to be interesting, because I’m a moulter! My hair is everywhere, and unlike my usual vacuum, where my hair gets stuck in the brush head, there was none of that with this.
I thought my hair would get wound around the roller, but it didn’t! All my hair, and everything else, goes smoothly into the filter, which also is really easy to empty.
I really like that this has a detachable hand held vacuum, which I used to do the stairs. And what normally takes me about 7 minutes, lugging my heavy vacuum up each step, and balancing it against my body, took half the time with the little hand held. I was thrilled!! (And my stairs now get cleaned much more frequently!)
It’s worth making extra clear that this is a hard floor vacuum, and it excels at doing all my hard floors, but it’s also actually ok at doing my rug. Don’t get me wrong, this in no way can replace my regular vacuum for rugs and carpets, but for light surface bits on my rug it handles it fine, and means I can do a quick run over the rug whenever I want, and keep my old vacuum for a weekly heavy duty clean up. I have a messy husband and 2 messy kids, so my rug needs a deep vacuum each week. If they weren’t so messy then perhaps I could actually go without my old vacuum.
It’s also cool that my husband was able to wall mount the vacuum in the cupboard under the stairs, which saves so much space compared to my old vacuum. And also because it’s cordless and has the handheld bit I can easily run it anywhere around the house or even out to clean the car.
Overall, if you’ve got mostly hard floors at home then this really is a great buy. It’s been amazing to quickly whip it out to clean up the random bits of stuff that ends up on my floors so often throughout the day, without the hassle of lugging a heavy vacuum around, plugging it in, and doing it that way.
It’s made my day to day cleaning so much easier and even my kids ask if they can use it! Thumbs up from me!
A great vacuum. I only have a one bed flat but with two Bengal cats running around (and a messy partner), the place soon gets covered in hair and dust. I have used other premium brand hoovers in the past so am able to compare fairly well on their functionalities and performance.
We have all types of flooring including thick carpet, hard wood, tiles and vinyl. I noticed the vacuum struggled a bit more on the carpet, but I was impressed with its performance on the hard floors. The padded roller is good for picking up crumbs and other debris, but it did get clogged up very quickly with my long hair which wrapped it’s self around it. However it was easy to remove the roller and clean it compared to other brush heads I have used in the past where I have had to cut the hair off.
I did like it’s design, its very sleek and sits nicely in the charging stand provided. I prefer cordless stick like vacuums as they are easy to manoeuvre and quick to grab and go, this was no exception. It is quite light and easily glides, it allows you to get very close into tight corners and edges. I also really like how it is able to stand on its own, should you need to move a piece of furniture out the way, this is really handy. Great how it can also be transformed into a handheld smaller vacuum for use in your car for example.
I was most impressed with the amount of charge it can hold, it has never ran out of battery for me, although if I had a bigger home this may be different of course. It also charges very quickly in the provided charging stand. Overall this vacuum performs better than my previous ones in this department.
One thing i was disappointed about however was the very small capacity of the bin, it fills up very quickly (although this may be proof of how well it is working to pick up dust) and I found it a little tricky to dispose of its contents. I feel like there is some room for improvement here.
This works pretty well on hard floors, though uneven surfaces, like a roughly split slate floor, was less well cleaned. Despite others more positive responses, I was less impressed with its handling of carpet (and to be fair to AEG they make it clear the vac is primarily designed for hard floors.)
As a hard floor cleaner, the rotor is far better at directing dirt to the suction than a brush would be, but the absence of any brush/beater and a low suction level means only the lightest dirt is lifted from carpet.
The design is very clever with the hand held vac option incorporated into the body in a pretty seamless way. It is very light too, and stands securely and easily in the small floor stand. It is elegant in appearance too. It’s quiet too.
The hand held vac unit seems to me the greatest disappointment. The only attachment provided in this package is a small nozzle brush which is so small, and therefore so focused that it’s a fiddle to adequately clean say a table of crumbs or dust. To be honest,I struggle to see much use for this hand unit. (Other attachments are available for purchase.)
I think this would work well in a small house with hard floors and for light cleaning, but it lacks greater versatility, at least in the kit I received. The low suction mode seems to me pretty pointless, too, so buyers should focus, in my opinion on the maximum suction battery life which is about 8 minutes. But it is pretty inexpensive.
A good second vac for a home with a mix of floor types and a bigger machine for carpet.
This cordless vacuum from AEG is definitely not a one-trick pony! When I ordered it a couple of weeks ago, I thought this would be ideal for my solid wood hallway and laminate floored kitchen – it is! I have used it every day for 10 days and it puts a smile on my face each time. It is very well engineered and oozes tactile build quality in its choice of materials. It is lightweight, powerful and so far the battery is achieving the claimed 45 minutes of use between charges. The head of the vacuum cleaner is able to tilt 180 degrees laterally and this means getting under the telephone table and between the kitchen chairs a breeze. It also has a nice stand for charging, with a secret compartment for a small tool for crumbs; the QX8 also stands upright on its own – clever!
But it’s not just for hard floors – you can detach the main unit and use it as a handheld device for vacuuming crumbs etc from all around the house and I have also used it to clean my car, and I will definitely be ordering from AEG, the dedicated car nozzle set for 20 which will provide even greater flexibility – AKIT360+ HOME & CAR KIT.
It’s an expensive purchase, true, but if you have lots of hard flooring in your home, like the finer things in life and appreciate deft engineering the AEG QX8 is a must-have purchase. I will be ordering another one for my parents. Five stars – no hesitation!
This AEG vacuum is specifically designed for hard floors. I didn’t realise that AEG was now part of the Electrolux group. I admittedly winced at this but the quality is still there. Easy to put together, just put the battery on charge straightaway. Took about an hour and a half to charge.
Crumbled smashed up cornflakes and some crisps on the floor to give it a trial run and it did an impressive job, taking all of it up. Part of the unit also comes away and becomes handheld. I know this is increasingly common with vacuums but it’s ideal and can be used for a number of tasks such as cleaning the car.
Plastics are solid so no fear they will shatter in it’s early usage.
Battery lasts about 45 minutes which is great and I managed to all my hard floors in this time.
I didn’t particularly notice my floors being “polished” but the look, design and price make this a bargain for those with hardfloors.
The once mighty AEG is now just a badge used by Electrolux on some of it’s more upmarket domestic appliances — but the products are none the worse for that! Although the AEG brand might suggest quality German engineering – like most things these days this cordless vacuum cleaner is actually made in China. The AEG QX8 is a lightweight, rechargeable model that works well as a small upright, especially suitable for use on hard floors, but can also be easily turned into a handheld model for extra versatility. The hard floor power roller picks up all sorts of debris from fine dust to grit and larger particles, and has the benefit of being washable to clean off clinging hair and fibres. In handheld mode the crevice nozzle allows you to get into awkward corners, like a powerful “Dustbuster”, and the smaller size is easier to use on your stairs, or even inside the car. Attractive, powerful and well thought out this new model by AEG works well as a main vacuum cleaner for a small modern flat, or as a useful backup to a full-featured model in a larger home. Currently one hundred and thirty-five pounds from Amazon this AEG QX8 is decent value for the quality a features offered and is one of the best rechargeable vacuum cleaners we’ve seen — if it suits your home and lifestyle it is a five star product.
This is a great looking vacuum cleaner that was easy to assemble straight out of the box. First thing that impressed me was how lightweight it was. It has a light, slimline design which means it can reach under tables, etc., and is easy to manoeuvre thanks to the swivel brush head design.
First thing to do was to charge the battery, although some power seemed present already. Once that was done, I set about testing the cleaner on a hard floor. It made light work of this, so next I tried the hand held part, which detaches from the main body to make a handy portable vacuum. This would be ideal for the interior of a car, inside built in closets, or, in my case, for up the stairs. Because this is cordless and so light, it certainly makes light work of this.
So far, so good. It looks great, and is easy to use. I’m no expert on how powerful a vacuum needs to be, and while this vacuum is efficient it would not be the best to use on carpets. It works on both – I found that the second button on the handle actually changes the speed or power of the brushes, and it needs to be switched to the most powerful for carpets, then down for easier cleaning of hard floors. Most homes have a mix of the two and if there is a large expanse of carpet, or you have long pile carpeting, or you have pets… well, then maybe you would need a more powerful cleaner. My feeling is that this is an ideal model for use as a secondary cleaner – that is, one that is standing by for a quick clean-up of crumbs or dirt without the hassle of getting a large upright out and plugging it in, etc. For hard floors, this one will do the job anyway, and would still be my choice for this task as it is so light and easy to use. The hand-held part is great and pretty essential for all sorts of cleaning.
Once used, the cleaner can sit inside the charger neatly until needed. I have a spare wall socket that means it is permanently plugged in and fully charged for immediate use without delay.
I have tried a couple of AEG products now and I am quite impressed overall. Good design, reliability and versatility comes to mind… !
The AEG QXB Cordless Vacum in indigo Luke is powerful but surprisingly light ordless Vacum that comes with a charging g pad.
I struggled at first with tightening the handle then I found a twenty p,piece did the job of tightening the handle.
I let it charge until the lights stopped flashing and the middle section that comes away is a very handy portable hand held Vacum that puts me in mind of a car Vacum .
The main body of the hoover does a good job on the wooden flooring ,I made the mistake in the past by using a normal hoover on my wooden floor that wasn’t a great idea.
Great tool for households than now tend to have wooden floors more than carpets.
This vacuum cleaner is extremely powerful and ideal for use at home or for your car.
It is brilliant on hard floors and sucks up dirty/dust very well indeed.
Only 18 Volts and its seems very powerful for something really small.
First off though, it is a very well made piece of equipment with a decent array of tools.
The bin capacity is surprisingly large and enough for our house with 3 floors.
I like that its lightweight so its good for cleaning the stairs as if its heavy it can be tiring.
Well thought out. Assembly was a doddle – its almost ready to run when it comes out of the box.
Great suction on both short and thick pile carpet however the hoover head itself would benefit from being able to be locked into position when covering a large surface small hoover section is great for small places for a quick Hoovering . Picking up everything with ease very easy to remove cleaning compartment, great on hard and carpet floors easy to assemble the battery life is great good quality hoover recommend
I was very keen to try this out as it is something i had been looking for after having hard flooring fitted throughout our house, if you are looking for a lightweight cordless vacuum for your laminate and hard floors this does a great job of lifting crumbs and pet hair, it comes well packaged and secured into box, i found it quite straight forward to assemble, just a few bits to click into place then your ready to go, it is quite a versatile vacuum as it can be used as an upright or a handheld, the extra couple of nozzles include a brush option and a narrow nozzle for smaller nooks and harder to get to places, i have used this a few times now and it is still working great, it has an easy to clean inside/filter compartment which has small point that once you apply pressure to opens each part up, once emptied and clean the filter pops back into place with ease and can be stored back inside of the handheld section of the vacuum. overall i am very pleased with this cordless vacuum and i would recommend it for hard and laminate flooring.
Amazon very kindly provided me this for free to review. This is my first review of a free product and as such I feel I must be brutally honest and not just shill for the manufacturer. This is a good cordless vacuum, not perfect in all respects but for my purposes it absolutely is. If all that troubles you is the odd cobweb on the ceiling or breadcrumbs down the back of the sofa, and you value portability and ease of use (not to mention it looks great), this is very likely what you are looking for. It operates as both a hand-held cleaner and an upright and performs well in both jobs. It doesn’t have the suction or roller brushes of a dedicated carpet-cleaning vacuum, but nor does it claim to, and it’s quiet while working.
Getting everything out of the box was easy enough, there are no twist ties, everything protected by foam wrap is fastened down by tape with convenient tabs to remove it. The main upright is cleverly shipped in two sections that require fixing together with a screwdriver (or, it turns out, an old fork). This saves a great deal of space and isn’t a major inconvenience.
The main vacuum function is contained within a separate, hand-held device which is very portable, weighing maybe 3-4 kg (7-8 lbs). This clips into the upright which has a powered roller with a soft brush designed for picking up dirt from hard floors. This is not designed as a carpet vacuum, it will happily run over carpet and pick up crumbs and the like, but don’t expect it to pick up pet hair from carpeted floors, the soft roller just keeps turning, ineffectually stroking the pet fur spread lovingly over the living room. In its intended role, however, it works a treat. I had prepared for this review by leaving the cleaning of the harder to reach parts of my kitchen floor for some little while, so I had plenty to try it out on.
Where I found it really comes into its own is as a hand-held device with the extension attachment. This gives it about 45 cm (18 in) reach with an optional brush on the end for dusting/cobweb duty. It was in this role I felt it almost on a par with my mum’s Shark upright. It dealt with the dust from the top of my curtain rail easily and the cobwebs in some hard to reach corners. If I have one criticism of this function, it is that all the weight of the device at the end of the handle making it a little tiring to hold it above head height for any real length of time. This is offset somewhat by the light weight of the whole thing and it would in no way discourage me from buying one, I’m mean it’s not really its primary purpose.
The vacuum claims up to a 45-minute run time, but I imagine this is in hand-held configuration as when it is plugged into the upright, it also must power the roller. I might have got that backwards though, and the upright might have additional battery power, but this may just remain one of life’s mysteries. I will update this review if the battery life falls far short of the mark.
It looks great and is easy to use, there is a power button on the handheld portion but and when it is plugged in to the upright, there is another power button further up more conveniently accessible. The button on the upright can be pressed a second time to operate it in a low-power setting, the purpose of which is not very clear. On powering on either switch, an LED light displays the battery charge level. It came with only a little charge in the batteries, so I was able to give it a quick demonstration run before I charged it. I didn’t keep an eye on it to see how long a full charge took.
I’m in no position to buy one of these for myself but that doesn’t stop me from taking a critical look at the unit I’ve been given. I also can’t speak to the 79-dB claim. It’s less noisy than a hair dryer but louder than a desk fan on full. Make of that what will. As for me, I will make the most of the opportunity I’ve been granted and exercise my newfound domesticity with gleeful abandon, I mean, I’m sure everyone sings whilst vacuuming, but this isn’t loud enough to drown it out!
