The segments produce an accurate profile which can be easily transferred to a template. I have two gripes – not very serious. 1) The chosen profile can be locked in place by a clamping bar using four screws (two at each end of the bar). These are tightened using a tiny hex key (1mm). A clear case of drop it and it’s gone! 2) The frame around the segments is quite thick. It would not be possible to get a profile under a close-fitting door (say). Otherwise splendid! JG.

I’m not using this tool for construction in the carpentry or building sense. I’m using it for dressmaking pattern drafting. The crotch curve on trouser patterns can be a tricky shape to get right. I found this useful for getting a general idea of the length and curve on the body so I can draft more accurately fitting trouser paaterns. It has helped me in this regard so I can’t fault it really. It’s a shame it can’t be longer than 10″ as I had to use some contortion to make sure it was positioned correctly. As I say, I’m using it in a different way. The slats move easily and hold their shape for what I’m using it for. If the seller (anyone) can find one longer than 10″ and a bit wider that would great. Overall good stuff.

This product is a great size and has a locking mechanism which is useful. The one thing I find odd hence the four stars is the ends have a strange shape to them meaning when you press it up to a profile you have to have the device a certain way up to ensure the longer side is the correct way up to trace. This means using the inches measurement rather than the cm. unless I am some how misusing this.
