This item really hits the mark. At such a cheap price my expectations were low but I used it for the last 3 days to hold my wild cam through the storms we had and it sat absolutely solid. I doubt very much it would hold something like an SLR camera but for lighter units it really is good.
Arrived on time, on next day delivery. The camera I bought alongside it fitted perfectly as does my old one. Easy to figure out and use. Comes with a carry case which is useful for when I go away.
I use this for my digital camera and a small projector and it works well. It does feel a bit lightweight though – I know this is a selling point if you’re travelling about, but I think if you want something sturdier and you have the money then it’s worth shelling out for something better quality.
For a first tripod it’s very good.
Extendable legs and easy to use.
Someone says it’s go pro compatible, but that’s only if you go a go pro tripod mount, doesn’t come with one
The tripod is incredibly lightweight, making it easy to carry around with me wherever I go. It’s also very sturdy and can hold my camera securely in place, even in windy conditions. The tripod legs are adjustable and can be set up at different angles, allowing me to get the perfect shot every time.
I love the fact that the tripod comes with a convenient carrying bag, which makes it easy to transport and store when not in use. The bag is well-made and provides ample protection for the tripod during transit.
The overall build quality of the Amazon Basics tripod is top-notch. The materials used are of high quality, and the tripod is easy to assemble and disassemble. The height of the tripod is adjustable, which is perfect for getting shots at different angles and heights.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Amazon Basics 127-cm (50-Inch) Lightweight Tripod with Bag. It’s an excellent tripod for those who are just starting with photography or those who want a reliable and affordable tripod for everyday use. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight and sturdy tripod that won’t break the bank. 10/10
Effective & very portable, even with the camera locked on.
But I wish they would design a “clip in/on” version, and the screwing in takes time. Also my camera’s memory card site underneath, so I have to laboriously unscrew it to load pictures
The only downside is that it’s no good for using for videoing as the movement is too jerky (even after a spraying of WD40.
This was a good tripod however had not realised until very very much later that it had not come with the attachment plate that sits in the release plate and connects to camera.
Not the strongest tripod and adjustment of height and angle isn’t the best however, I bought it to support a laser level whilst refurbishing a bathroom. For the price it did the job I wanted well and is now in the tool box with the laser level. Probably not one for frequent use, but did the job I want it for, providing the height adjustment for leveling units, baths and tiles.
I wanted a tripod to carry for filming while hiking and camping. I’ll mostly be using a phone or GoPro so don’t need anything too sturdy, lightweight is my priority. This fits the bill perfectly but don’t buy this if you want to support anything heavy or expensive.
It looks and feels cheap and will need careful handling not to damage but it has more features than I expected at this price.
Pack size is small and compact and it fits easily in the side pocket of my rucksack. The carry case will keep it protected until needed but adds very little bulk or weight. Ideal for my needs.
I have never used a tripod before as I am more of a point, click and shake photographer taking just general family and holiday snaps. When I got a digital camcorder for vlogging purposes I knew that I needed a tripod. To be honest I went for the cheapest floor standing option as table space is limited in the filming area and I needed it to go behind. Literally, that is the extent of my product knowledge – what’s cheap and floor standing.
That led me to this little beauty.
I am super pleased with this tripod. It is lightweight but feels nice and sturdy and feels like it would support quite a weighty camera – as you can see from the photos mine is a low end, light unit so it has no issues with holding it at the required filming angle. Attaching the camera is super simple – providing the camera has a tripod socket fitted to the base – and so is removal. Admittedly I have to get my other half to do it as I am the world’s clumsiest person and would probably break something but that’s just me – he has no issues at all.
Leg adjustment is simple and secure once adjusted. There are three stage telescopic legs and each leg has a retaining clip so you unclip, extend and then clip down again. I explained that really badly but once you have it in your hands it will make sense. Even better this means it is ideal for using on uneven terrain as each leg can be adjusted individually to get it level.
Lightweight and the included carrying case is a nice touch. Honestly, the value for money here is astounding. Very, very pleased with the purchase.
If you’re on a tight budget and just need to hold your camera still, this will absolutely do the trick.
It packs up very small.
It unpacks into a rather large rig, comfortable to take photos/video while standing (I’m over 6′)
The colour isn’t as obnoxious as I thought it might be.
CONS
You do compromise on quality; the tripod legs feel delicate and bend under force
The swivel head is far from smooth.
The short arm on the swivel means you have less precision in movement.
At it’s default “horizontal” position, the base plate lists slightly to one side – probably by 1 or 2 degrees (barely noticeable).
The head of the tripod has the previously mentioned horizontal position as well as a vertical one, however there is no mechanism to change the position. So if you’re focussing with a long lens, the rotational force on the camera body (and therefore the tripod) can quite often lead to the tripod head flipping into its vertical (portrait) position. Not ideal if you’re shooting video at the same time because your picture goes from landscape to portrait in one shot.
From my experience so far (2 months regular use): great for photos and okay for stationary video and video that tracks on one axis (vertical OR horizontal, mixing the two makes the movement of the swivel head far too jerky).
Oh and don’t try to zoom while filming.
