Nothing wrong with these Amazon Basics clamps at all. The 10.16cm / 4″ clamps are very deceptive and can sturdily secure work in place unobtrusively because of their slim design. The larger 15.24cm / 6″ pair are excellent for larger jobs. For a DIY enthusiast I’d be very happy to recommend these.
The four larger clamps are fine and well up to the requirements for my new found carpentry skills :). The two smaller clamps work the same way but don’t have much pressure. I’m not sure what to do with them at the moment. I’d buy the big ones again though.
Want to take your DIY to a whole new level?
Want to be the envy of all your neighbours?
Want to feel like a man who all women desire?
Well go and buy a load of Makita cordless powertools and you can achieve this. However once you have done that, go and buy a decent workbench/workmate (a decent one, not a 50 special) and a set of these clamps.
Without a doubt there are more expensive and better engineered clamps available but for a weekend DIYer these do the job. A few different sizes, I used them this weekend with my manly Makita tools and workbench to make a shoe rack for the wife (WTF is it with shoes and women!). Anyway they clamped the wood really well so I could achieve clean straight cuts, released easily and quickly.
If you do DIY and don’t yet own a set of quick release clamps you need to get these now.
This was great find. I was sceptical buying it, as similar styles cksmps from lidl were very weak. But they were well made, out of good strong material and they clamp very well. Would recommend to others, and will probably buy more of the same ones, if I need more.
What more do you need to know.
So would I recommend or buy again, without a second thought. These are great at a great price. If you have the cash I would buy the quick release type, but these are usually a good bit dearer.
I used them on assembling a flight of new stairs and fixing them in place. I was very pleased as they were very affordable but very strong.
I can’t say I often need to use a clamp as I imagine most people would be the same but for the odd occasion it’s required these seem to do the job extremely well. I have been building for flat pack wardrobes and have used these clamps to assist me as a couple of points during installation in lieu of a second pair of hands. They are really easy to operate and offer a reasonable amount of force of the contact point. I would say these are more suited to an amateur or home DIY user than a professional tradesperson but I doubt at this price tradesperson would look at them seriously anyway.
For a smidge over 20, these clamps offer good value for money, at just under 3.50 per clamp. I’m currently undertaking a lot of joinery in the garden, so the large ones have been ideal, acting as a third hand when needed. They are also great for holding wood together when you’re glueing a joint, especially smaller joints with smaller clamps.
Considering these are from the Amazon Basics line, they are great quality, and from my perspective as good as others on the market I have used doing DIY that are more expensive, not basic at all in my view. So recommended from me!
These are fab! We run a market stall once a month for charity and these are a must-have to get all sorts of notices , banners and wrap-around decorations onto the stall – have no idea what we do without! They are so strong and provide excellent grip ( on reality too LOL)! Definitely a set you need no matter what you do1 So many uses these have – an essential set in any household!
Clamps are one of those things that you only ever think you should keep in your tool box on those rare occasions when you realise you need one.
This selection of clamps from AmazonBasics are an excellent addition. Provided in three different sizes there are enough of each to ensure you’ll be catered for almost every situation you need them for. The clamps are strong and secure, and the tips articulated to a degree to ensure good puchase on the object to clamp to.
I’ve got a growing selection of AmazonBasics tools now, and I continue to be impressed with them. The name suggests a budget brand, but so far my experiences have been nothing but premium. Keep it up Amazon.
This is 4 large clamps and 2 baby clamps for workshop use.
I am converting my garage into a workshop so these will be a welcome addition.
I will be working with box aluminium and wood so these will help to hold parts together while I do what needs to be done with it.
The large ones have a large jaw, it looks about 6-7 inches wide maximum, the small ones are about 3 inches and despite being thinner material still seems pretty strong and sturdy.
I have to say I have now had quite a bit of “amazon Basics” items and I have been constantly impressed by the quality of these low cost products, this set is no exception.
For little over 20 you’re getting 6 good quality clamps that should last for many years to come.
I was happy to try these ‘AmazonBasics 14-Piece Nylon Spring Clamp Set – 6 Pieces 8.57 cm, 4 Pieces 11.43 cm, 4 Pieces 16.51 cm’ as dolls house is my hobby and I am always needing clamps to hold glued items together etc.
1. You get 14 clamps in an Amazon Basics branded presentation box that will be also handy to store them in. They do each have a hole in the handles, so could be hung up on hooks above the work bench.
2. There are 4 large, 4 medium and 6 small clamps, made of nylon and with really meaty metal springs.
3. The large clamps have a very powerful spring, that took me two hands to open fully.
4. The medium and small are easier to open but still feel very strong and well made. I am sure they are not going to ping apart at an important moment.
5. All three types opened wide enough to clamp around the edge of my dining table that is 3cm deep, Although the larger two will open further still, as you can see by the photo – the small one has closed handles, whereas there is still distance for the next two to be at full stretch/opening.
6. At the tips of opening part of the clamps there are two pivoting hard pads to angle to the right position to hold your items.
7. They will be very handy for my dolls house structure, furniture making and card etc., crafting.
In summary – A good set of strong clamps that are good value at 15.06 in my opinion.
In typical Amazonbasics style you receive a simple cardboard box containing the product which in this case is six black and grey clamps, separated by little sheets of cardboard. Storing these clamps on a shelf in my workshop until needed, any packaging would just get in the way were I to keep it.
Operation of the clamps is self explanatory – there is a little grey plastic button that allows you to pull the grips apart, and you can push them back together quite easily, sliding along the steel bar. Tightening it onto the workpiece that needs clamping is then a case of repeatedly squeezing the grey trigger, or if you’re feeling energetic you can do this trigger-squeezing thing all the way from fully open to clamped.
One weird feature of this design is that the plastic clamp that is attached to the end of the sliding metal bar can be removed by untightening a plastic-handled screw that attaches to a metal bolt on the other side. I don’t know why this is designed to be removed by hand, and it’s pity that it’s made of plastic. But then when you look at these clamps a whole lot of it is plastic – the sliding metal bar being almost the only exception. So let’s hope the plastic lasts for many many years.
Given that you get six clamps in the box, twenty quid seems an entirely reasonable price. As long as the clamping range between 0 cm and 15.5 cm is adequate for your needs.
Work well, with an easy one handed operation which is always a bonus when you have your hands full.
The slide along the rail is smooth and the trigger easy to reach, as is the release button.
The build quality is as good as my branded clamps and they are a very handy size.
A great set of steel trigger style clamps which offer 4 larger clamps and two mini clamps. Feature a quick release button and a trigger style tightening which is quick, efficient and secure providing 45kg and 10kg of clamping force respectively. The plastic jaws prevent items being clamped from damage. Suitable for small to medium sized projects which don’t require heavyweight clamps. Overall very well made very well priced pack of six quality clamps suitable for all manner of use.
