This is a really good Camera Bag for the price, can’t really fault it but I would describe it as a medium size bag not large, never the less it was large enough for my mirrorless digital camera, 2 additional lenses & leads battery charger & accessories
I really had no dislikes it did the job looks ok to the other bags I have are lowepro brought this for additional cameras I must well pleased for the money recommend
My old Lowe Pro bag decided to die & I needed a new bag to replace it. After a lot of reviewing this was the one that caught my eye. However it was way too small. I do carry a lot of gear even for a handheld and the only thing I could do was return it and buy a new original Lowe Pro.
I had a need for a bag that would take 2 cameras and be easy to access while it was attached to me. This meets those requirements. It loses one star because the bag strap was folded very tight in the bag itself and is a bit crumpled. I hope it will straighten out in time.
It might say Amazon basics on the badge but feel it’s really well put together , and I can fit dslr, battery grip, two lenses, as well as accessories so am pleased , already protected my camera from a summer downpour so it’s paid for itself
I got fed up with putting my Canon EOS 1300D and lenses in the boot of my car or my motorbike’s top box, and got this for them and I’m really pleased with it.
It stores everything I need for a day (or more) out with the camera as I can get the body, lenses, SD cards, spare batteries and even my old EOS 350D in the same bag (just)
A very reasonable price, for a vey good bag.
I really love this bag. The inside is great with lots of padding and the custom velcro dividers mean it can work with any device I have. The only thing that could be better is that the straps of the bag that you use to carry the top of it are connected to the lid only – which means that if you happen to be a little absent-minded and forget to close/lock the clasps on the bag, then go to lift it, the top of the bag will fling open and if the things inside are not secure they’ll spill out. But that would be my own fault. Great bag otherwise!
Perfect for what i needed it for, I have the tarion backpack but it’s too large and cumbersome sometimes so this is just right, I use a Sony a6500 fitted with a cage and grip, and a canon 5d mkII which I’ll never get rid of it takes amazing shots, and have a range in lenses, while I take both cameras out I don’t need 8 lenses, so this holds 2 cameras and 3 lenses perfectly, one lens is on the Sony most of the time, the side pockets hold 6 batteries (mostly Sony because they’re shite and don’t last long, Sony) in one and a canon to Sony lens adapter in the other, there are other pockets that are used for cables, cleaner, cards etc etc.
All in all its a sturdy bag and a sort of double lid thing, a zip up one then the top fastening with velcro and the clips, very safe, and I’d say waterproof , it’s just fair decent for the price (I covered the Amazon basics logo, I’m a brand snob).
This is a nice bag and has a great amount of compartments to fill with various items, but I wouldn’t call it large has the central area only has space for either one DSLR with two or three extra small/medium lenses to fill it.
Anyone who uses more than one DSLR with a set of lenses like myself will need to look for something else has this bag really isn’t big enough to carry everything but its still a very good bag for those that use just one.
Would I recommend it even though I think its to small for a large bag in my eyes.
Most definitely it has more than enough space but not to carry a couple Camara bodies and lenses.
Would be a five star review but the description has ‘Large” is a little misleading and should be more like “Medium”
The Amazon Basics Large Shoulder Bag is an excellent camera bag that I would highly recommend to anyone in need of a reliable and affordable option. The bag is well-built, made of durable materials that can withstand daily use, and comes with dividers to help organize your gear.
The adjustable dividers are made of padded foam material that offers great protection for your camera and accessories during transport. I found it easy to customize the compartments to fit my specific setup, and the padded interior provided additional protection against bumps and scratches.
The bag’s exterior is also made of a durable and water-resistant material, which kept my gear dry in light rain or snow. The well-padded shoulder strap was comfortable to wear for extended periods of time and had a non-slip pad to keep the bag in place while I was on the move.
Overall, I was really impressed with the Amazon Basics Large Shoulder Bag. It’s spacious, affordable, and well-designed. If you’re in need of a camera bag that comes with dividers and offers great protection for your gear, this is an excellent option to consider.
This a surprisingly roomy bag for its size. It carries my eos90 fitted with its 18-155 lens (on its back, lens pointing up) along with a sigma 100-400 zoom. In the centre is a 25mm lens and a 430 ex ii flash gun. It’s all quite snug without being overly squeezed in.
I can also fit my 10″ tablet, which was important as I use it for remote viewing and camera operation, without its case into the inner pocket on the inside back of the bag.
All in all, it carries everything I need although something to be aware of is that If the lenses were any longer then the lid wouldn’t close. I don’t think that a 600mm zoom would fit but as I don’t yet own one its not currently an issue.
Also, my camera is a crop frame, so if you have a full frame with a larger body you maybe won’t get quite so much in and you’ll have to be a little selective about what you carry with you.
I also don’t think the tripod straps would fit anything other than a small travel model. They certainly don’t fit my Verbon. I have another tripod on order, a lightweight model from K&F concept, so it will be interesting to see how that works out.
My only mild complaint is the two velcro pads which attach to the outer flap to the inner zip lid. The second zipped inner lid is a great idea and will most certainly help keep rain out if you are unlucky enough to get caught out, but the velcro, for which I can see no real purpose, makes it a little awkward to remove the camera quickly while the bag is on your shoulder as the outer flap drops back on the inner zip lid when you are trying to open it and, when the velcro pads contact, it locks them together and prevents the lids opening freely and independently. Its only a minor issue, but getting the camera out easily from a shoulder bag as opposed to using a rucksack carrier was the prime reason I bought this. However, it is still easier than dropping a rucksack for quick camera retrieval.
With reference to other reviewers comments about the strap clips squeaking, this isn’t an issue that is present on this bag. However, because the attachment clips are on a swivel, the strap does have a tendency to twist when put it down. For this reason alone I will probably change the strap for one with fixed ends as being able to swivel freely serves no useful purpose that I can see.
These are only very minor issues and in no way detract from the general quality and design of the bag, particularly when you compare the cost of a major branded camera bag.
On the whole, I would highly recommend this bag for anyone looking for a lightweight camera bag that can carry enough gear for a day’s shooting without being too cumbersome.
I was a little dubious as to how good the bag would be for this price but I am happy with the purchase. I carry an older (heavy) Canon 5D2 with cross-body sling strap and a 24-105mm attached plus two other lenses (105mm macro and a 70-300mm Sigma f/4 -5.6.) A bit of a squeeze but they fit, the zips still slide without any strain which can be a weak point on other cases with cheap zips or too much pressure. The camera is upside down (lens pointing up) which leaves even a little more space around the lens to pack some soft items (small sandwich, lens cloth) if you want to really fill the case.
If you need to carry anything else then an even larger shoulder bag or backpack will be your choice.
An internal mesh pocket forms part of an inner zipped lid; this velcros to the case lid when the outer lid is closed.
With three more pockets around the outside and an inner open compartment I can store all those little bits and pieces we carry (CP filter, cards, cable release etc.) I haven’t tried including a square filter set and holder but I doubt I could also fit that in anywhere with my camera and 3 lens combination. I can replace one of my lenses to fit a flashgun in if I need to.
The material, zips, handles and fittings feel strong enough to trust. The 5 inner velcro dividers are well padded. The case material is a matt finish, textured nylon (?) which I very much prefer. The shoulder strap is a little uncomfortable when walking long distance with this weight. I don’t know if buying a different shoulder strap would help much. I tend to relieve the weight on my shoulder by holding the small carry handles at the same time. If I carry the camera separately by a sling strap then the shoulder strap is no problem. With all the kit, for any day-long or long distance walking I would suggest a backpack; but for a few hundred metres this bag works just fine.
The tripod straps are under one lower edge; I prefer to rest mine on top under, and held in place by, the carrying handles.
I have not had the case for long nor tested it for weather resistance but feel it should be more than capable of protecting against light showers. Overall I am happy with this case.
I received my bag today and I must say these are extremely well made and stitched.
I do like the idea of the double lid (one zipped and the outer one with Velcro and strapped with buckles so is really secure.
I see one reviewer has cut away one layer of the double lid but I have no idea why. Rather silly really to do that. I think he made an excuse because he asked his daughter to go get his bag. She went to get it and he said that hundreds of pounds worth of equipment nearly fell to the concrete ground. His fault for not strapping it up and using the zip fastener.
In my opinion the double layer lid is the rainproof bit and as long as it is zipped and then the outer lid shut properly it is really a good idea.
Plenty of room for my DSL camera and a couple of lenses. Tall enough to take a TAMRON AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Zoom LD Macro Lens.
It has plenty of Velcro partitions and all very well padded for safety. Lots of pockets and side pockets and a tablet holder too should anyone need to take their tablet. Carrying shoulder strap is a really good one and has swivel buckles (plastic) and is quite long enough to hold the bag at waist hight for a 6 footer like me but is fully adjustable for shorter people.
I noticed one person said the strap is not good and left a link in the review for a strap of better quality. I took her word for it and I also purchased the strap she gave the link to. I wish I had not listened to her as the strap on the Amazon Basic bag is better and has a none slip pad. The one the lady said was better and none slip in fact slips off because the pad is not a none slip and just slippery nylon.
However, stick to the strap that is supplied as it is good enough and none slip.
The straps for the tripod are not too long and will not take my tripod. I think these tripod straps are made for a very thin tripod or maybe just a bi-pod but I certainly cannot get my tripod in there. It would take a smaller table top tripod I guess but I have to carry my tripod separate and maybe on my other shoulder as it is in a case so no problem for me. Maybe I will use the tripod straps for an umbrella.
All in all it is a super well made and large enough for the amateur but it will be no good for a pro as they only want the best and that is why they charge you so much for photos 🙂
Probably the most important thing you need to know about a camera bag is its internal size – without this it’s impossible to know if your kit will fit in. So it’s really frustrating when the internal dimensions aren’t given in the product description. It’s also confusing when more than one product size is covered by the reviews and Q&As, because then you don’t know which product any comments apply to.
I tried to get a clear answer to the question of the internal dimension of the large bag without success, so I took a punt and ordered one. It turned out too small so I had to return it, but not before measuring the inside so I could add the information here. So, the internal dimensions of the LARGE bag are width: 25cm, depth (front to back): 12cm, height: 17cm. The bag is soft and flexible, so you can add a cm or two of wriggle room to these.
The bag looks to be of good quality for the money, and if it had been the right size for me I would happily have kept it. That I knocked one star of the rating isn’t down to the bag itself, but the lack of important information about the product and the fact that I had to go through the fuss of ordering it so I could find it out.
I’ve read all of the reviews posted here in order to make a firmed choice whether to purchase this item or not. Some of the reviews have been helpful for me but others have been written slating this item due to its size and classification (Medium and large bag). Firstly I purchased the large bag having identified its properties from the product information (dimensions etc). It was based on this information that I decided that it would be perfect for my use.So my thoughts about this item……
I use it to carry portable recording equipment: Tascam DR-40 with various microphones, a small Olympus DS 32 recorder, mini power pack, mini speakers with mini amp. In the pockets assorted AA batteries plus AAA. SD cards etc etc. There are side pockets which are useful and there are other pockets in the Lid and the front compartment which also has separate pockets. I like the orange colour inside and the finish of the internal layout is good because you can easily see odd items at the bottom of the case. The Velcro dividers are challenging to get right but once you have these set as you wish I guess they don’t need to be moved again.
I carry a 46cm 5.5 diameter plastic tube containing Shotgun mics which is really handy. This fits into the two left and right straps provided on the front of the bag. I can also attach my boom extension handle to this as well.
The quality of this bag is excellent. The look and feel of it is great and for me personally it gets five stars. The additional carry strap which clips to each side is handy. However, it is a nice comfortable bag to carry by the handle. For my recording equipment it’s nice to keep it all in one place… just pick up the bag and off you go.
Lastly…. I can never understand why people slate products when all of the information they gripe about is laid out in front of them to see. I looked at the measurements and bingo they met my requirements! Thanks Amazon fast delivery on this too within 24 hours. Just the job.
Like many, I’m very pleased indeed with this purchase.
I initially bought the AmazonBasics Holster Camera Case for DSLR Cameras Black but that was when I only had a Nikon D3300 and a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Lens . As soon as I got my Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Lens the smaller bag was simply too small. Especially after renting a wide angle lens for a trip.
Soon after taking up more serious photography, I started travelling. I travel light, as I take short trips with my camera and not much else. I quickly found that this camera bag not only pairs well and fits inside of a Cabin Max Budapest | designed to meet the Free cabin bag allowance set by Wizz Air 42x32x25cm (Black) (it’s a tight fit, but it does fit) bag, but can handle three lenses if properly configured, too.
As well as that, I can fit a couple of filters, two spare batteries, a battery charger, external battery pack for my phone, two EU power adapters and some socks in there!
This, coupled with Amazon’s returns policy (I returned the smaller bag after nearly a month to partly pay for this one) and the student discount makes this camera bag absolutely fantastic.
I personally feel that anything beyond this is too big for carry on luggage on a plane, but this is about perfect, given the external pockets and ability to attach a tripod to it, too.
As well as the above, it’s well made and feels very tough. I’ve had it only a few months, but it’s had no problems holding up to the low temperatures of Slovakia in winter and being manageable in Iceland, too. Okay, the second part is maybe just me being pleased with myself for recently going to Iceland, but it is a very good bag! Kudos, Amazon.
I have had the medium Amazon Basics camera bag for 18months and although it was ok I really wanted a small (1-2cm) increase in internal dimensions but more importantly I needed the opening of the bag to be more stiff to stop it closing in on itself. I carry three Canon EOS M bodies one each for the 11-22, 18-55 & 55-200 EF-M lenses. After a few weeks I found extracting a body/lens harder as the opening gradually got narrower. So I decided to try the “large” bag. As you can see from the first few pics it looks quite a bit larger but looks can be deceiving . Internally it was basically the same size as the medium- it was all the outside pockets and very large lid that gave it a “large” look. Medium internal=24.5W x 11D x 16.5H. Large is 1cm bigger in each dimension so not really a “Large”, but great for my needs.
Next issue was the odd lid. The large has in effect two lids – the outer lid with the two clip straps and carry handle and the an inner zipped padded lid. The outer lid was formed with a lip and was very stiff. The handle would only work if you fastened the two clip straps. I found the outer lid to be out of proportion with the rest of the bag.
Next issue was the straps for the clips and the tripod/monopod. They just got in the way as I’m sure you can see from the photos (I didn’t see myself using the bag to carry a tripod).
I decided to address both issues with the help of a sharp modelling knife! For only 22 it was worth a risk. So off came the tripod straps and the clip straps and finally the large lid. What you are left with is a bag with still a zipped padded lid – just no handle. As you can see from the pictures it is basically the same size as the medium bag. The opening is much stiffer/formed making it easier to get a body/lens combo in and out.
Final thing I need to do is get a strap (I can use some that I cut off) and sew a piece of Velcro to it so that the zipped lid can be fastened without doing the zip up each time.
I really cannot understand the critical reviews about this bag. The picture shows the shape clearly and I was very pleasantly surprised by the zip around top AND the over-cover with straps and buckles.
It is extremely good quality, very robust and well-made – again I was surprised at this for the price.
The orange liner is beautifully soft and the bag’s padding is brilliant. Whoever complained about the sewn on label …… what was all that about? ….. Remove it – although mine has now got my telephone number on it in case I lose the bag.
The velcroed pads inside the main compartment are completely removable if you wish, but I have used the two large cross pads both at one end. This ensures that my Nikon D3300 and Tamron 70-300 lens (which is always attached) fits snugly lengthways, with the hood sitting nicely over the lens should it be needed. They definitely do not waggle about but the camera and lens are easy to get at if they’re needed in a hurry. I do not need to carry around every piece of photographic equipment I own. I do keep my extension tubes available for use in one side pocket, with my spare battery in the other. The integral elastic strap holds it securely.
The long back inside pocket carries a notebook and pen (for birding notes) and my mobile phone when I’m out.
My binoculars sit quite happily on top of the lens and cover in the main compartment, just for carrying in the car – they’re around my neck as soon as I’m out walking. I don’t find the strap a problem and again, I think it well-made. It doesn’t live around my neck, but over my shoulder and doesn’t slip (or squeak).
The long front zipped pocket is the right shape for chocolate – an absolute must on a birding afternoon!
All in all, I’m delighted with this bag – the price, quality and value are excellent!
It seems to be a sturdy bag, nicely padded and fairly large. Almost as soon as I got it I took it on a 4 day trip to Marrakesh – a test of its abilities for sure.
Plus points – I like the overall construction of the bag, it’s well constructed and teh material looks pretty hardwearing. the top carry handle is a nice feature. The stitching and seams and the zips and clips all seem to be pretty robust and should stand up to normal use for a good while. The main compartment is big enough to hold my Canon 600D with a 18-250mm zoom fitted pointing downwards, 50mm prime, 90mm prime and 10-20mm wide angle zoom. Theres also room for a lens blower, small brush and a couple of loose lens hoods. Theres a nice sized zippered mesh pocket in the top flap wich I used to keep the camera strap (sling style) safe. There are three other zippered pockets, one at either end perfect for batteries, filters etc, and a longer one in the side easily big enough for a card holder, lens wipes, notebook etc.
Minus points – Not many, but the main one is the shoulder strap. It has a curved, padded thing that slides up and down the strap, it’s never in the right place and when it is it crumples up and just gets in the way. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it when I got home. I bought a couple of carabiner clips and swopped it for an old guitar strap I had, much more comfortable and easier to adjust. A couple of other slight minuses; when the bag is on your shoulder its a bit awkward to unzip the main compartment as the zips curve round at the ends and get stuck round the back. I think it’s just a case of training yourself not to zip them fully closed to make opening it a bit easier. The other minus is the position of the end pockets, the zips are a bit close under the strap clips and this makes access a bit awkward. Not a huge deal but a bit annoying if you want to get to your spare batteries quickly.
Overall it’s a good quality bag let down by a couple of niggly design faults. Given that the price is below 30 I still think it’s good value.
