Be prepared

Mouse offers great value. Seems well built. Plain but effective packaging.
Pros:
* Connected immediately once the USB adaptor plugged in.
* Precision seems within normal parameters.
* Scroll wheel gives nice tight movement.
* Great value for the money.
Cons:0
*The storage slot for the USB dongle is inside the battery compartment. The door to this is very flimsy and I’ve no doubt it would break if repeatedly opened and closed. Which makes it potentially less useful in terms of portability? Have had other wireless mice where the USB dongle slot is more accessible/robust.
* It is quite small so potentially uncomfortable for people with very big hands?
Bought for a Reolink NVR and it works perfectly, no pairing with the dongle needed just plug and play and forget it. Works for me at over 3 meters from the NVR behind a corner of the room with a wall jutting out. Very happy with the performance, especially for the low price i paid.
Excellent quality for a budget price , really like this product it feel sturdy and reliable without a large price tag. no problems with wireless use and hard to fault in any way. came in a well protected box. Looks good and is easy to use although changing batteries can be a tiny bit fiddly but not a massive problem and I would buy this mouse again should I need one.
Simple to set up, works straight out of the box. Reasonable size for male average size hand. Maybe a tad small but not uncomfortable for long sessions.
Default settings work for me but options available to fine tune using mouse menu.
Accurate and responsive, would buy again.
Oh heavens, finding out how the batteries +and – into the mouse, you need the eyes of a hawk. Needed a Basic leaflet! having a dongle, yes I found out what that was eventually, and changing the one already in the laptop from a previous mouse, it finally worked. I despair of myself, but living alone I had no one to ask and Google was not at first helpful! Can’t comment on battery life, but to add to the frustration only one comment said it wasn’t good, so I am waiting for that to prove itself.
I only brought this to get my new Mac mini running. Once I had installed all of my data I discovered my MacBook Air and the mini could share screens, making this mouse kind of superfluousuntil I brought an Alienware laptop, which I’m going to use mainly for gaming, and the mouse feels so much better than using the track pad for games.
The “installation” is almost nonexistent. The Mac Mini, instantly recognised the USB was connected to a mouse. The PC laptop took a bit longer, but within a minute it figured out what the USB was for, and I was able to use it straight away.
Worth the money and I will definitely keep it to hand for any other tech issues that pop up.
Not much to say that hasn’t been said, but just to add my ‘shovel-full’ to the heap of praise, I think this little mouse is a cracker for a tenner.
I bought it to replace a Logitech mouse in which the batteries had leaked. The point being that the batteries in the Logitech had discharged sneakily on me because it can’t be turned off. There lies the big plus on this amazon mouse-the on/off switch which saves battery.
It is nice to use, is quite small so not cumbersome, yet still not ‘fiddly’ in larger hands. In use it’s smooth and responsive. All-in-all, as I said in the beginning, a little cracker!
Oh wow! It’s so cute! Just received today and it’s perfect! Can’t comment on the battery life yet but there’s a little switch to turn it off at the bottom to save the batteries when not in use. I had to dig out the quick ref guide to figure out battery polarisation as that’s not marked like it normally is and the way they go in is a bit strange, looks like they are the wrong size at first but easily resolved with quick guide. The little USB receiver is tucked inside the battery compartment for safe storage. I was expecting to have to configure it in some way but it worked straight away as soon as I plugged it in. It moves across the laptop screen very swiftly and smoothly.
This is perfect. My previous mouse just died on me last night so I needed a replacement double quick. I obviously had loads to choose from along with all the various prices and finally thought this one sounded as if it offered the best value. Price came into it, but it has everything I need. Arrived today and I have now been using it for about 5 hours, it’s perfect. My one little gripe is that the battery section makes it difficult to see the way the batteries go in. Initially I thought they both went the same way and of course the mouse wouldn’t work, but when I changed one around it worked perfectly. Certainly recommend this to everyone, you don’t need to go for expensive one.
Nice standard Wireless mouse. I bought it because every other mouse that I have are a little bit bulkier and I wanted something that i can easily take anywhere to use with my laptop. This mouse have a nice feeling and it has a very good design. I haven’t got used to it yet because its more for a claw-like grabbing style and I’m more used to rest my palm on top of it.
The first thing I did when I get it was to accidentally smash it outside while shaking out a tablecloth (cant test a mouse over a tablecloth filled with crumbs). While I did panicked for a few seconds as my eyes followed the batteries flying though the air, I was amazed (and relieved) that the mouse didn’t get even a single scratch.
Its not the best mouse I’ve ever test it, but it does the work.
First of all it is a good buy I bought this with the mouse pad as you could buy them both together for 13.99. When my mouse pad and mouse came I was looking for the mouse receiver in the box and could not find it and then I thought what is this inside my mouse and found the nano receiver in the mouse which is very handy and very smart and clever as you got somewhere to store your receiver when it is not in use or when you are travelling with your laptop. It comes with Amazon Basics batteries I didnt even know till now that Amazon even did batteries with their own brand which is very essential and handy and I’m glad that batteries came included. It is a very simple mouse, it has a on and off switch which my previous mouse did not have a on and off switch which due to this one having an on/off switch that will save me battery life, it also comes with frustration free packaging which is very handy as with some products you end up tearing up the box if you haven’t got the patients lol. However great value, do not hesitate to buy. Cheap, small and it does the job and is pretty simple! The mouse is perfect size for me I’m glad the main part of the mouse is matte black rather than the often encountered shiny finish that shows up dust and fingerprints! It is well built and a quality feel, I shall be defiantly buying some more Amazon basics products! I recommend! & if you need a mouse pad while ordering this buy them both together like how I did and buy them both for 13.99 which is a bargain in my eyes! Thank you Amazon Basics for making such quality products within an affordable price range, shall be buying many more products from Amazon basics! I am also a prime Amazon customer so I get delivery quicker rather than what a standard customer would get. Amazon prime is also amazing!
The mouse is a lovely size. It’s quite small which means that it fits nicely in your hand. It has a good feel to it and looks good. All three buttons give feedback when you press them. The scroll button is especially good as it gives clear feedback so you don’t end up scrolling by accident.
In terms of the mouse being wireless it is brilliant. I can have my laptop on one side of the room and control it on the other side. It works really well when giving presentations as you can use it to click from slide to slide. It also works on most surfaces, which is extremely useful when you’re out and about.
The receiver is also very good as it is nice and small, meaning that it won’t be knocked out or broken. There is also a compartment in the mouse where you can put it if you don’t want it left in your comp/laptop.
However, putting the batteries in is quite fiddly. You have to really push them in. Plus it take 2 AAA batteries and triple a’s are harder to obtain than aa’s
Overall it is a brilliant mouse and I’m very happy I bought it, especially considering the price!
This is simply the best mouse I have used – priced at under 10 it’s the best value item I’ve purchased in the last few years.
Good points
– instantly responsive
– wheel to scroll up and down
– wheel click (down or left) allows scrolling navigation in all directions: left, right, up, down and diagonally up and down
– off button to save the battery
– comfortable rounded fit to the hand
– price
Bad points
– User manual doesn’t mention the wheel click scrolling navigation at all (I found it by accident)
I’ve used 20 or 30 different mice over the last 20 years. I moved to wireless mice (to avoid the frustration of the cable snagging) and then to laser mice (to avoid the frustration of a dusty, sticking ball). I’ve tried a variety of mice at various employers (as a contract programmer) and I ended up repeatedly buying Logitech for personal use because Logitech mice were consistently good … that is, until this last year.
In 2009, I bought a Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse (with a big USB receiver the size of a Sandisk Cruzer USB Memory Stick) and it was fine, scroll wheel and responsive. No problems. Until August last year when I lost the USB receiver.
So I looked at the options and in September I bought a Logitech Cube Mouse (60) from amazon. It came with a Nano receiver and it’s a great idea – but it isn’t responsive enough – move the mouse and there is often (but not always) a delay before the cursor moves on the screen. It’s just like going back to 1990 and trying to use a co-worker’s mouse with a sticking, dirty, dusty ball underneath … very frustrating. The right click is also very difficult to use.
After a few days with a lot of frustration, I bought another mouse from amazon, this time a Logitech MX Performance Mouse which seemed to be the latest version of my MX 1100.
Unfortunately this had the same sticking-ball behaviour, not responsive enough and with a delay between moving the mouse and the cursor changing position on the screen.
I was intending to return the Cube Mouse (because I assumed the MX Performance Mouse would work properly). But since both mice weren’t responsive I didn’t know whether it was my computer or the nano receiver that was the problem.
So for the next 5 months I put up with an unresponsive ‘sticking’ mouse. Very, very, frustrating – particularly with graphics and CAD programs.
Then in March I was browsing amazon.co.uk looking at Chromebooks and I saw a “Frequently Bought Together” item referring to an “AmazonBasics Wireless Mouse with Nano Receiver Black” for 8.95.
I thought it was worth a try, and as I wrote at the top it’s the best mouse I’ve used, much better than any of the Logitech mice I’ve bought over the years (all in the price range 40-60).
So I am now going to return the two Logitech mice that I bought in September. There’s nothing wrong with my computer and the AmazonBasics Nano Receiver works perfectly.
I don’t know where Logitech have gone wrong, but the wheel-click scroll-in-any-direction functionality of this AmazonBasics mouse is much better than the Logitech attempts to solve the problem of scrolling right and left.
Now I just need to save up for the Chromebook 🙂
Sits nicely in my large hands which is unusual, I usually prefer Track Ball Mouse from Logitech but I like this one, maybe that’s why I bought 3 🙂 my sister now has one and my Nephew.
The tiny Nano receiver works very well and to my surprise also works with Logitech receivers as well.
Not sure about battery life as yet but there is a handy on/off switch underneath it.Also being able to store the Nano receiver in the battery compartment is a bonus, they often get lost otherwise.
One point to note, when you insert the batteries make sure you push the batteries down at the edge of the batteries nearest to you looking down at the mouse from underneath, as they have to fully engage (you’ll see what I mean).
The mouse pointer is very sensitive which is great and works on any surface even on my armchair’s armrest.
Summary: Worth every penny, good little mouse, a must if your fed up of track pads on Laptops and or as a spare or for traveling .
Bought this mouse to use on my Netbook so I could leave the Nano receiver in the side of it and use the mouse whenever I needed it. The ability to turn the mouse on and off is a great addition and saves wasted battery life. The mouse has a great feel and fits nicely in my hand.
The only slight criticism I have is that in the quick start guide it says nothing about the plastic tab inside the mouse which is to help get batteries out when they are empty. When first opening the back of the mouse I thought it was one of those plastic tabs that you have to pull out so that the batteries can work but soon realised after pulling it a few times that I was being stupid and that it was to help remove empty batteries. I know that in the actual user manual it mentions the plastic tab but I think it would be useful to have a quick note in the Quick Start guide about it. Just because I know a lot of people probably never read the user manual let alone the quick start guide, and it might prevent some people wrecking their mouse trying to pull this plastic out.
But still a really good mouse and would recommend it to other people
My first ( Microsoft) wireless mouse was a clunky ,bulky affair where the receiver was as big as the mouse , trailed form a USB port and the mouse had to be “docked” – ie placed on the receiver station when not in use – looked like two mating rodents – who kept falling off. Battery ran down quickly as no on off switch….
This latest Amazon offering by contrast has
A very neat receiver which can be left in a USB port ( only slight risk is losing it if it is not left docked in a USB port as it is so small)
An on off/ switch on the mouse which conserves the AAA batteries used in the mouse ( you get a free set with the product initially)
A simple “signal relocator” button on the mouse in case the receiver loses the signal
An easy , light mouse action.
Better than basic I would say
It was a bonus that it came free when I bought a Samsung RF711 17.3-inch Laptop (Black) (Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Blu-ray, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit)
I will be reviewing this and the SSD ( hard drive) Samsung SSD 830 2.5inch SATA III 6GBps 256GB Notebook Accessory Kit with Free Norton Ghost 15 separately
I bought this mouse to replace my standard Microsoft wired mouse and it was well worth it. The mouse is slightly smaller than the MS but it doesn’t qualify as mini. I’m fine with that as I’m constantly on the move so definitely saving space.
Once you plug it and Windows installs it, it connects and it’s ready to work immediately.
Three things where Amazon could improve it hence no 5*:
1. The battery cover, where you store the USB connector, feels a bit flimsy so I’m worried about opening and closing it very often. I try to do it as little as possible.
2. The surface is mat finish and after a couple of weeks, it’s already showing some wearing. I think it’s not going to age well.
3. The receiver is not nano. It’s not massive but I’ve seen smaller so you have to be careful when leave it plugged and putting your laptop in and out of a case.
Overall, for 10 I think it’s a good purchase. Certainly much better than a wired mouse.
