This printer has been easy to set up and easy to maintain. As a complete beginner, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to figure out how to use and maintain it. But I’ve had so many successful prints. And when one fails, there are some amazing 3D printing communities to help me understand the mechanics and programming of my printer and get me back on track. Every issue I’ve had was human error. This thing has never let me down yet!
This was my first 3D printer, it took me around a month of research to finally take the plunge and purchase it, after spending around half an hour assembling it, I set it off on its first print-the owls- I was impressed, from here it was a steep learning curve testing different software etc and learning the different settings – 3 months later I was printing out all my little projects to a high quality. The first job was a clamping system for my CNC machine plagurised from YouTube which works really well as per photo, then a clamp to hold my dial indicator, the ideas for this printer are endless.
I had an issue with one of the hot end fans and after contacting Anycubic they sent the replacement part almost immediately, the support and service from the company has been second to none. I highly recommend the printer and have even upgraded the filament feed and holder. The Ultrabase hotbed adhesion works brilliantly once you have figured out the settings
All in all it has been a good experience would buy it again.
What can I say, this printer has been a work horse, I have never had any issues at all only user error one on my part. It’s very simple to assemble only took around 40 mins to get my first print underway. The touchscreen is very responsive and simple to use too. It comes with all the tools you need to get your print done from start to finish. Also comes with a spare hot end which is amazing, not to mention a 1kg spook of pla to get you started. I liked it so much I bought another one plus a Chiron to do bigger prints and they are all used everyday. I would hands down recommend this printer to any one who wants to get into 3D printing or who wants a reliable printe
First 3d printer I’ve own. Came well packaged and was set up within 20mins. It comes with a small spool of pla wire so I would suggest buying more.
Printer quality is really good
The touch screen is very easy to use, very intuitive. The adhesion on the base isn’t great, and I’ve had to restart prints due to them lifting. Lastly, the default printer quality are passable if don’t want super great quality. It’s worth spending time finding better quality settings because this printer is capable of printing to better quality that it’s initially programmed to.
For my first 3d printer, it has been a blessing. For anyone from a novice to medium knowledge this is the 3d printer for you. Easy to setup, lots of spare parts sent with the printer and you get a spool of pla to start any project.
This is a GREAT printer but its definitely not a plug and go. It took me a while to get good results but it is worth it.
The main thing is GET THE BED LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!! I purchased some feeler gauges to make sure i got level results.
Support is great, sent me a whole new extruder when the arm broke due to me being too rough, within 8 days from china!!
The Anycubic i3 Mega is my first venture into 3D printing, and I’m glad I made this choice. The unit is really well packaged, and easy to assemble. Comes packed with plenty of tools and filament samples.
Having had initial troubles (me not the printer), I reached out to the support who were unbelievably helpful.
On the back of my issues, all i can advise anyone buying this item (and probably any other printer) is to ensure your bed is levelled correctly, once it is check again. This is the key to getting good results.
I’ve had the printer just under 2 months now and have printed many things most without issue, and those with problems generally down to me still learning the craft.
Highly recommend the device.
Been thinking about taking the plunge for a while, then snapped up a bargain on daily-deals (186) and SO glad I did!
It’s a real work-horse of a machine. Really simple to set up and a pretty shallow learning curve if you’re even slightly technically minded.
Note that mine DID come with a 1kg role of white PLA in the box (don’t think it mentioned this on original description) which was pretty good Anycubic PLA – which I’ve found so far works better on this machine than some others with out of box settings (Sunlu PLA+ works but needs some higher temps).
On the whole definitely worth it. Not the most detailed prints possible (get SLA resin for that) but for pretty good detail and strong functional parts look no further!
Fantastic first step into the 3D printing world!
Very simple to put together, essentially comes in 2 parts which you screw together.
I use this printer almost daily and the only issues I’ve had are of my own creation…. Make sure your print bed is level folks!!
The Printer arrived quickly and well packed.
Assembled in 15 minutes, and as other reviews have advised I then spent quite a while (30 mins approx.) ensuring the base was level and very close to the nozzle using the detailed instructions and supplied paper (they think of everything).
Less then an hour after delivery I was printing the test owls. One base looked a little loose , so I gave all 4 corners a half turn nearer the nozzle, and restarted the owls – Perfect!. (One month later I haven’t had a single bad print.)
NB I did have a nozzle heater fail, – but the delivery included spare parts including a complete head assembly, So I was working again, on-line support in china directed an amazon warranty replacement (of the spare) next day.
So my first printer has been a Joy throughout, I include a photo of a control box destined for my telescope autofocuser project, I printed that part on the day I assembled the printer!
An easy 5 star review.
This was my first 3d printer and I bought it after spending a lot of time looking at specifications and reading reviews. I have no reason to regret the decision; it’s been a solidly performing machine and for the most part prints have only gone wrong because of my lack of experience. When I first received and built it I did have a few issues getting the example owls to stick to the bed but this was mainly due to the bed needing a really good clean as it must have got quite dusty after transport and some advice on levelling from Anycubic support. Other than that it has been faultless.
The only other thing I have done was to buy the kit to upgrade it to a Mega-S for the better extruder and built-in spool arm which was about 30.
Anycubic provide a good amount of tools and spares in the box; even including a spare hot-end, bowden tube and 1kg of PLA filament to get you started. The other advantage is that, if you are of a mind to do any modifications for example, quieter fans, there is a really active community who can provide advice and parts to print if you need.
As a complete new starter to world of 3D printing the anycubic I3 mega was a fantastic starter printer, it was easily assembled and levelled and I was printing within 20minutes of opening the thing. I find the touch screen intuitive and easy to use.
I’ve been using thingiverse to download STL files and producing my own using blender and fusion360 (both are free) and Cura (free slicer software) is another program that is easy to use and pretty user friendly.
I’d definitely recommend the anycubic I3 mega for any new starter to the hobby
I purchased this so as to reduce costs of using online services. I should say that I am a novice at this, but in the last weeks, I have printed many items for a project that I am working on. The quality of the print seems to be excellent and the printer has completed hours of printing without issue. The largest job that I gave it took 11 hours and was executed perfectly.
Assembly and setup was fanatically simple. I am able to print either the usb driver or from the SD card.
I would recommend this product based on my own experience to date.
Great printer and one of the best in the market. Can easily compete with more expensive ones. If you are new to 3D printing this is one of the best printer.
At work we have a 4K printer which would make you think if you buy this one your prints are going to be rubbish – well they are not. From unboxing to printing the test owls was no longer than 20 minutes. Bed set up a piece of cake…. A wee tip – if you can’t find the red connector like I couldn’t – it’s tucked up behind one of the motors. Instructions are easy to follow and if you can read then you can’t go wrong. Plenty of spares included plus some shorter test colour PLA samples. The only downside is if you have children you will be printing Spongebob and Star Wars stuff long before your own…..
This 3D printer is absolutely amazing!!! This is my first 3D printer and has left me speechless on quality and value for money.
To add to that the customer service has been absolutely awesome, Susie @anycubic has helped me resolve my issue efficiently with great care.
Thank you Anycubic!!!!!
I like the quality of the prints and the simple setup and use. It can be annoying at times as the first layer of the print can sometimes peel up but if it stays down then the print comes out fine
Husband was totally made up with this for or anniversary, and the pint filament in different colours was a very nice added bonus.
so far I have been given a lithophile picture, an “ivory” elephant, a fox ornament & a “fallout 4 Mini Nuke” as my anniversary gifts, not to mention all the stuff for his boat he has designed and printed.
Best gadget he has been brought in a long time
Bought end of August and had two months trouble free heavy use. November and a fan in the base unit started making a terrible noise. Trying to contact someone three months later and it’s almost impossible…
The price is very variable, wait for 225, I’ve seen it over 300 at times.
It’s a good printer, but quality control and longevity is an issue. Still trying to get a reaction from Amazon or ANYCUBIC and so far no luck. Amazon doesn’t want to know after a month or so, so mu h for warranty, and ANYCUBIC I’m still trying to get a response to an eMail. It is so frustrating.
This is a fantastic printer for anyone looking to get started, but after about a month of heavy use the Y axis is misaligned by 7mm and still is even after updating the firmware, but it still prints though just 7mm off the centre. The ultrabase works like a treat and ive had zero problems with prints lifting off the basewhile printing and then once cooled the lift off with ease. The only downside to this printer is how loud it is, but dont let that put you off one. The I3 Mega is without a doubt one of the best entry printers on the marke
I currently have 2 of these anycubic i3 mega printers and find them to be excellent.
They both run nearly non stop and printing models for my company and there have been nearly zero issues.
The biggest plus point for me is the ultrabase. The adhesion is excellent no glue stick or painters tape etc. Just normal cleaning.
Easy to assemble, great quality prints
Thank you Anycubic for 3D print experience for a beginner.
I couldn’t get the recommended software cura to work on my desktop due to OpenGl 2.0 issues,
but I downloaded Slic3r software to generate .gcode tool path based on the settings
in the 3d printer manual recommended 3D print settingsl and my print came out well after calibrating the print test bed.
One word for this 3D printer, brilliant! Highly recommended and worth every penny!! 🙂
Happy 3D printing folks as you bring your ideas to life!!
So after several bad buys with other brands I now have two Anycubic i3 Mega’s.
Easy to put together takes about 5 mins out of the box, all tools you need are included and a roll of filament is too.
Anycubic’s service is second to none too, the touch screen on my first one cracked, emailed Anycubic and they’re sending be a new screen under warranty.
Great service Anycubic
My son bought this for his 4th year project at University. An initial problem with a part apparently missing but my younger son found it hidden in the machine. Set up fine and printer working fine. Early days yet but seems to do what it is intended to do.
I had a lot of fun setting up my printer and it has not let me down since. The printing quality is good and the manual is giving perfect descriptions as in how to proceed if there should be a problem (so far the only issue I have had was to re-calibrate the print bed by turning some screws). Would totally recommend.
Great value printer! I am really impressed with this unit, I first tried 3D printing in 2013, and had a lot of trouble getting everything configured and printing well – these days are long gone it would appear! So much easier today!
The Anycubic i3 Mega is a sturdy, well built unit and was very well packaged and easy to put together. My first print with the stock settings was pretty impressive. A scaled up benchy looked really good, and is now one of my nephew’s favourite bath toys!
Only minor issue that I have had are some small parts coming free of the bed whilst printing an Octopus model (see pics) – I think I need to try cleaning the bed and maybe using some hairspray for the next attempt in order to amp up the adherence.
All in all, highly recommended and really appreciated all of the included tools – such a good value package and great for getting started. I’ve added a Raspberry Pi with Octopi which makes it really full featured.
I’ve been using this printer for a little over a month and have been extremely impressed with it. The printer came very well-packaged. Parts were nicely separated with clear instructions. Assembling it takes about 20 minutes and after 5 more minutes of doing bed levelling I was already printing the pair of owls that were in the SD card.
One feature that I really, really like and one that sets this printer apart is the Ultrabase. PLA prints stick well to it with no need for painter’s tape or hair spray and once the printing is done and the bed’s temperature drops down to about 25 degrees, the prints just pop off the bed with a little touch. It gives the bottom later glass-like surface finish which is extremely nice.
I have recently tried the Autodesk Kickstarter printer evaluation model and got a score of 25. The venerable Prusa i3 Mk3 was rated 22.5 and that is a much more expensive printer.
Over all, I’m very pleased with this printer and can recommend without hesitation.
I bought this product as a replacement for the Ender 3 pro which I had to send back after a few days as I could not get it to work properly. This printer is easy to set up with very clear instructions and very good print quality. It worked straight out of the box with some basic levelling, my son has been able to print several different things without any problem. Would definitely recommend.
This is my first 3D printer and it has been an absolute dream to use.
I spent a lot of time researching and looking around at other printers, however this one stuck out by being so easy to get the first print out within about 15-20 minutes.
Getting the bed level is key, but fairly easy to do – there is a bed leveling print on Thingiverse.
The prints are coming out great, I will add photos when I start printing products.
When I need another printer in the future, I will definitely go for another Anycubic.
Fantastic product for the price! I was not expecting a great deal from this, my first printer was a no-name kit that came with very little in the way of support or customisation but this package is excellent.
Spare hot-end and radiator, all tools needed to assemble, nice set of illustrated instructions, accessory pack (scraper, memory card, USB card adapter, etc) as well as several coloured filament samples and a 1kg roll of white PLA in my kit.
Well packaged by manufacturer, and setup was easy, first test print came off perfectly in better quality than I ever got from my first printer at its best!
Very happy with this product, would recommend!
This is the first 3D printer I’ve had and setting it up was incredibly easy. From box to first print in less than 30 mins! Prints stick to the bed incredibly well while printing but come off easily when its done and the bed is cooler. Can’t recommend this printer enough!
This was my first 3d printer ever, super easy to set up, I spent a lot of time on bed levelling and I recommend you do too. Once it got going it was perfect and I’ve had some great results
