ASUS QoS
ASUS QoS ensure inbound and outbound bandwidth on both wired and wireless connections, you could control each client devices with different download and upload max speed, also could define your online gaming and HD streaming as highest priority, stop all your lagging issues.
Multiple Capacity Wi-Fi with Revolutionary MU-MIMO Technology
MU-MIMO gives every compatible device its own dedicated full-speed Wi-Fi connection, so that multiple devices can connect at the same time without slowing down the network. In fact, RT-AC85P is able to connect to multiple MU-MIMO-compatible clients at each device’s maximum speed simultaneously, unlike standard single-user MIMO where individual devices have to wait for sequential transmissions..
Parental Controls
Keep your kids safe when they explore the internet. You can monitor the internet activities and restrict the times that each device can access the internet by applying scheduled time limits.

Easy to use and set up, just what I needed
I bought this to replace my Virgin hub 4 with the 1GB package. The hub 4 WiFi signal wasn’t so good and I had to use the virgin booster pods to get usable WiFi speeds in certain areas. As well as that I would have devices being dropped and latency spikes even when using an ethernet cable when playing online games.
The Asus router was a bit of a pain to set up but I think that was mainly the fault of the hub4 as it wasn’t going into modem mode properly. The webpage for the Asus router is a lot faster than virgins and has tons more settings and information, I did have to update the firmware on the Asus router when I recieved it but that was simple enough.
Since having the router the WiFi signal is noticibly stronger and when standing next to the hub the WiFi speed on my s22 ultra increased by around 100mbps. Overall it’s just a lot more stable. The only bad thing I didn’t know before buying was you can’t use virgins extender pods with the router but that’s obviously no fault of Asus. I got it like new from the Amazon warehouse for almost half price so it was a bargain for me.
Work very well, for who have too many wi-fi things like me, but already stoped to work one time, and needed to be restarted
This router is very good. It provides good coverage and stable connectivity to places where my old Virgin Hub wouldn’t reach. Great firmware allows a deep level configuration of the network.
I didn’t need tech support and “she thicc” seems inappropriate for a router.
It did however save me from a stress induced heart attack from screaming at my 3.0 hub from Virgin, no more choppy signal, no more stupidly slow speed and WiFi throughout the house
Wish I bought it a year ago
Great Router for the price and a lot better than my virgin Hub Router, has a great interface and lots of options, was pretty simple to setup , by web ui or mobile, you can then check on phone and even has a game mode, if you update the firmware
I bought this as lockdown like most is challenging bandwidth at the best of times, although not a gaming household we are a ‘smart’ household with near 50 devices connect most of the time!
This was easy to set up, took about 10 mins. We have been using for 3 weeks and no issues at all with everything connected and streaming tv shows. Great upgrade.
Edit: Also worth mentioning the space saving design of this is great in tight spaces or shelves.
Have had this for several weeks and it appears to be working really well.
Thanks again Virgin… Keep up the great work :/
Bought to replace the WiFi functionality on my flakey EE router, and seems to have done the job. Works well.
Configuration interface gives you a lot of control and is well laid out. Very nice compared to the locked-down free routers you get from ISPs these days.
After having the Virgin hub Wi-Fi signal drop in my flat, found out online how poor the vm hub3 WiFi signal is from various forums, most suggested to turn the VM Hub3 into modem mode and connect your own router, after reading lots of reviews I chose this Asus router, now Wi-Fi signal in the flat is perfect.
Setup was easy using ASUS app. Put my VM hub 3 on modem mode first. Must say its made a significant difference both in terms of speed and coverage. Bought it as the VM hub 3.0 struggles so much in other parts of my flat. I like the design as well. Definitely would recommend to VM hub users.
Excellent Router with all the features you’ll ever need and more.
Was Great value product until it failed on 2nd year.
Now I have to power off router for a few mins when it fails completely (WAN,LAN dhcp connection everything fails), Happens at least 3 times a day much more when I play online games.
Omg! LIFE SAVER. If you have virgin, who has a poorly built router, this will 1000000% sort your connection problems. The interface is easy to use and the setup couldn’t be simpler. Thank you for saving the rest of my hairs, no more hair pulling moments!
What a great product. Easy to setup to take over networking duties from a Virgin hub which clearly wasn’t up to the job. No more annoyed grunts from the kitchen as the wife’s tablet drops connection for the umpteenth time. Echo now connects and stays connected. Insane speeds and low ping over WiFi on little ‘uns Xbox One upstairs. Even the printer remembers the WiFi network now and connects straight away (and he was next in line for an “accident” with a 5lb lump hammer!). Thanks to this product I have been able to quit my second job as unpaid IT department at home. I love you Asus x
Can’t comment on the Support side of things as haven’t needed it.
Unhappy with the Virginmedia box so I bought this to solve the problems. This was a good choice, I now have excellent, stable wifi coverage. The web interface is rather clunky imho. The only niggle I have so far is that I had an external HDD handy so I connected that. All seems to work ok but I can’t seem to get write access even though I’ve configured this via the interface. Probably my fault but I’m not a total novice
We have virgin media which is fantastic when you are within 6 foot of the router. Anything further then this and you might as well use dial up. I debated for weeks on getting this router, so glad I did. I can now get near full speed anywhere in the house and yard. If you have a super hub 3 off virgin then you know the issues so get one of these. The family have stopped moaning aswell which is worth 95 in itself.
While I mistakenly bought this instead of a modem/router and sent it back (returned and refunded in less than a week), I like the router and would have kept it had I a decent router to serve as a modem.
Quite frankly I could not find anything to dislike.Particularly liked the dashboard you can monitor your signal with.Quick and easy to set up to use.I cannot tolerate hassle with technology.Stress free and did a great job boosting my WiFi signal.
And blisteringly fast at 866Mb/s if your gear can run ‘ac’ on 5GHz connections.
It even has a basic MEDIA SERVER built in for media from its USB 3.1 port (drive or memory stick.)
With Samba for NAS functions on the same USB connected drive.
It was easy to get up and running and has been stable since powering it up.
Helpful hint: install the latest firmware for it before deploying!
