I was looking for a small and portable laptop to allow me to edit photos and videos on the go. The laptop feels well built, light and comfortable for its size. The keyboard is good enough but for me I would recommend using a mouse over the inbuilt trackpad.
The small screen and reasonable resolution makes Lightroom Classic interesting to use as it can at times be difficult to determine how sharp a photo is without having the screen on top of you. However, the screen is great and seems very colour accurate.
With not having a GPU, obviously the laptop has some limitations but the CPU is nice and quick and I’ve not bottlenecked that or the RAM. I am very happy all in with this laptop and if you get lucky enough to get an Amazon Warehouse model at an even bigger discount like me its an absolute no brainer!
I use it to work (software develop, office…), Multimedia and some light gaming. The screen quality is superb and the battery life for working or multimedia is about 7 hours.
Would not recommend for gaming, only some not demanding games or with streaming services such as gforce now.
It’s a great quality laptop with a really nice screen. Very light weight and easy to use.
However what they don’t tell you that with windows 11 nothing supports HDR for you to watch. So you can turn on HDR on the laptop but can’t watch netflix or Disney plus or YouTube in HDR. Bit pointless to be honest.
This laptop is awesome, and mine plays uncharted, on medium resolution, which I was pleasantly surprised about.. I cannot fault it it’s great..
My only gripe is.. why didn’t they use an NvIda GPU as it’s sposed to be a gaming laptop.. as you need to appreciate that NVIDIA is for games and AMD is for publishing
And btw the battery life is great too
Bought in the prime day sale for under 500 I think, was a bargain for the spec. Is a very fast laptop, decent CPU, RAM and SSD help this thing fly.
I run photoshop on it and it works perfectly.
The screen is immense, no idea about anything else as its a christmas present so not used it, but did turn it on the check out the mega uber screen, makes my macbook pro look dull and lifeless.
The screens better then my tv, how sad is that?
My girlfriend won’t apprecuate the insane spec, but she will appreciate the colour and vribracy of this mega uber scree
The laptop is very fast and has great screen. Also I didn’t have any problems with touchpad. Maybe the seller is selling some refurbished ones as new. Mine works perfectly an so does everything else. Also some comments say the keyboard is not back-lit? Of course it is. You have 3 levels of keyboard back-lit brightness, so no idea why some people say it doesn’t? There’s a dedicated button on the top row.
Almost perfect! I was worried that the downgrade from 15.6″ to 14″ would be a problem, but in terms of screen real estate it’s actually turned out to be a total non-issue for me with this laptop – the pixel density from the higher resolution 2k display more than makes up for the loss is physical screen size, I can actually have more on my screen, with finer details too. I slightly miss the number pad, but not as much as I appreciate the reduced overall weight. The only part I’m struggling with is the screen gloss, I presume its needed to pass the colour accuracy validations – it’s just so reflective – on anything dark you it’s more of a black mirror than a screen. It’s the biggest compromise for me because it reflects everything, you spend more time trying to focuss past everything reflected from behind you than paying attention to what’s actually on the screen.
The track pad is oversized and has been a game changer for my big hands, a much more pleasant user experience for me, I don’t feel like I’m trying to work my sausage fingers in a postage-stamp sized area – it’s nice to have more freedom.
The audio is a little hollow – don’t misunderstand me, it’s perfectly acceptable but it’s nothing above average and I don’t know how it warrants the Harmon Kardon brand tie-in – the HK name lead me to expect more, something above average and what is here is utterly middle-of-the-road and unremarkable.
Performance, this 16 threaded monstrosity has devoured every task I’ve thrown at it so far, from transcoding to creative suite tools. It’s the most powerful machine I’ve owned, especially for it’s diminutive stature.
I’m really puzzled by the decision not to allow charging by USB-C, and frankly, the inclusion of more USB-A ports than the measely single USB-C, when you consider that you are forced to run this through a USB-C dock if you want ethernet as there’s none on board. To contrast that, the Wifi6 supports has given me outstanding performance, on high sustained throughput so far (via my UDM pro + U6).
TOP TIPS – I personally don’t like having to have an online MS account, but you can still actually setup the laptop using a standard ‘local account’, when you first boot the laptop work through the first couple of setup options but when you get to chose your WIFI network *DONT CONNECT*, instead press Shift & F10 (you might have to press the Fn key first to activate the F10 function). In the command prompt type OOBEBYPASSNRO (no spaces), press enter, reboot, and when you next get to the pick a wifi stage you can ignore it for now and select the not internet access ‘local account’ at the bottom. This shouldn’t be hidden, let me use my equipment how I want to!
Next tip – the MyAsus looks like bloatware, and it is packed with unnecessary requests to sign up, but using it to shift to the quieter fan profile is well worthwhile, particularly if you spend long durations working on less demanding tasks in between the crunchier jobs, the quieter life is appreciated.
Managed to get this on Prime day deal and at that price it was head and shoulders above anything else with double the RAM double the SSD and a faster processor. The 2k OLED screen is fantastic and provides extra real-estate over a 1080p resolution screen without being too small to view. The numpad on the trackpad is something I’ve never seen before and works well. Overall quality of the build is excellent.
When I got this laptop it some issues like webcam not work, the gpu had artefacting and the trackpad was wobbly, I was able to get it all fixed but not the best first impression.
This has the best display I’ve ever used on a laptop, it makes everything look so good, the display was the main reason I got it instead of anything else. HDR looks incredible on this. This can do 400 nits full field white which is insane for an OLED, I’ve had no problem with text clarity either. This is like having a 14 inch IPhone is the best way I can describe it. BEWARE this will ruin every other laptop screen for you because it’s just that good.
The performance is great, haven’t had any hiccups. The iGPU is decent, I played FIFA 22 at 1080p and it ran fine.
typing is really good, the best typing experiences I’ve had better than my mechanical keyboard the keys feel good and they have nice big letters that are easy to read. trackpad is nice too.
One major gripe is the battery life, I get about 5-6 hours with 50% brightness with general web browsing, which isn’t terrible but it could be better. Also I really wish there was a dedicated GPU but they don’t sell the 3050 version in the UK which is a real shame.
I really like this laptop, the best laptop I ever owned
Overall it’s a good laptop but ASUS quality control failed big time. Alot of units has loose and rattling touchpad and mine is no exception. Also this model doesn’t have fingerprint sensor as it says in tech specs.
