I did quite a bit of research before buying this (Asus Flip 14 OLED) – for the budget I set (~1k) this was the only one that had the features I wanted : 16GB RAM, 512GB HDD, OLED, fingerprint reader. Also – it has memory card reader which strangely, some of the Asus don’t (although a USB memory card reader is under 10).

Mostly – it’s brilliant. The screen is stunning. The keyboard is excellent for a fairly small laptop – much better than I expected and typing is very natural. I don’t use it for anything intensive, but it’s very quick – and it powers up very fast.

There are a few minor negatives :

The trackpad is the main one. It’s central, surprisingly large – and I tend to find my palm is touching it when trying to use it – and hence it doesn’t work properly. I assume I’ll get used to it and adjust – I have started scrolling by using 2 fingers on the touchpad which solves the problem a lot (plus I have the touchscreen).
In addition – if you drag from the top left of the trackpad – it opens the calculator. I have never intentionally done that – but I’ve seen the calculator about 10 times now….. I’ve disabled the number pad feature in the Asus settings, and that’s stopped happening now.

The thunderbolt ports are pretty tight – and very close together. If you have two things plugged in (e.g. power and USB flash drive), it can be tricky pulling the flash drive out because there isn’t much space.

Tablet mode seems like a nice idea – but due to keyboard etc. the reality doesn’t really live up to it. If I want to use a tablet, I’ll stick to my S7+.

But these are very minor irritations and if I could turn the clock back, I’d still buy this laptop. For the price it is very high spec, and it’s exceeded my expectations. I bought this knowing that my laptop use was very occasional because I usually just use an Android tablet – but in fact, I’m using this a LOT more than I expected.

It’s great to use. The keyboard is light and smooth to touch. The screen is amazing. The mouse pad/number keypad is very touch sensitive and easy to use. The packaging and case are sleek and very well thought out. It does however get quite hot at the top end of the keyboard. I have since bought a fan tray specifically for this problem and it does help, if not cure the problem. Having said that, I do enjoy using this very smart tablet/laptop. I don’t need it for business, but it’s a pleasure to use for fun, emails etc

I got this laptop for college as I am going to be doing Photography. I love the laptop, I haven’t had any problems with it and I can’t wait to be doing editing on it.

Lovely laptop that has a real quality feel to it. Weight for the size but adds to the feeling of quality. Works fast on multitasks and the screen resolution is fantastic. The supplied pen is ok not upto Apple Pencil standards but maybe with some more practice it will become better and more natural to use.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe unboxing experience is very good, with the laptop raising out of the box when opened. It comes with a reasonable sized power block and a stylus a standard.
The screen size initially seemed small but the screen quality is really good, and with the smaller screen the laptop is lighter.
It comes with a handy, quality pouch to protect it, so ideal for putting into a rucksack when travelling.
My daughter is off to uni in the near future and she is delighted with it.

I have a number of other ASUS laptops, and the build quality on this and my others has never let me down.

    Recommended A++

The best daily use laptop I’ve ever used. Both tablets and laptops. You can draw. It also has the best quality display I’ve ever seen. It has a better quality screen than the Macbook Pro. It’s nice to watch something. I returned it because I need the one with GPU because I use powerful programs. This is also very powerful, especially running Adobe Premiere Pro beautifully. But you may have difficulty editing 4K video.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a real quality machine, with a lovely rose gold aluminium case and good quality keyboard. The case is a bit of a fingerprint magnet. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. Deep blacks and very crisp. It is shiny so you can see reflections but the contrast is so good you don’t really notice it. It is fast and runs well. The touchpad works well and the touchscreen is good. I have not used the pen much but it seems good.

If I have one complaint, hence dropping one star, is that the keys on the keyboard are horizontally too close together. This causes me to mistype and it takes a bit of getting used to.

I have not seriously tested my laptop yet, just a very light use so far, but it seems perfectly fine.
It is compact and feels well built which is important.
It seems fast, a bit faster then my old machine (Acer Travelmate P614) and I have managed to set it up the way I like without any problems. Charging time is really fast and battery life seems OK. Not overly impressive but fine for the way I plan to do on this laptop.
Display is of really good quality, perfectly viewable from any reasonable angle. I have not yet used touch screen much but it seems to work fine.
Laptop is light but just slightly heavier then my previous laptop, which is not a huge problem considering the overal quality and compact feel of this machine.
I’ve seen some reviews stressing the question of heating or overheating, I noticed a bit of that, but again, not excessive so far.
On not so important but stil a negative side, most of the laptop surfaces are very sensitive to touch and only after a couple of minutes of use, you can see some annoying smudges on it. Difficult to clean but easy to get them back on the laptop again.
Generally a ver good laptop. Joy to use.

This laptop ticks every single box, bar one, the power button has almost no feed back. You don’t know if you’re pressing it or not. It’s just mushy. May just be my model, but half the time I have to look to the side to see if I’m pressing it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI love this laptop. I adore it. The screen is magnificent, the versatility is fantastic. It’s light, portable, and powerful. It won’t run the latest AAA games but that’s not what I bought it for, and it runs most games just fine. The battery life is also superb.

So why only four stars? It’s the dual touchpad/numberpad. The concept is brilliant but I’m sorry to say it’s just not reliable as a dedicated numberpad. If I were still a heavy Excel user I’d have returned this device by now. Happily I’m not any more, so I am happily enjoying it, but the few times I’ve tried to use the numberpad in the same panner as a standard numberpad, it’s let me down. A real shame.

But it *is* still a brilliant laptop, which I highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, but for the numberpad

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve had this laptop for over a year now. The O fell off the keyboard a few months back. I should have sent it for repair under the warranty, but I would not have been able to work while I waited. Anyway, cheap plastic on the keyboard.
Speed, however, is great. Can have a ton of tabs open on a browser, use graphic heavy editing apps simultaneously and this handles it really well. HOWEVER, you can’t connect an external mic. The ‘jack’ connection is through a USB-c adapter and the computer will not recognise a mic, even with a TRRS connection. This seems like a giant and ridiculous oversight, considering how many content creators there are out there these days. Why, Asus? Why? As recording is one of the main reasons for needing this, it’s totally stumped me.
So, nice for speed and the sound and graphics are good, but the mic thing is poorly considered and the cheap plastic didn’t last even past the warranty. Not one for content creators how need to record. Don’t do it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersQuick secure delivery to start with put my mind at rest.
    Nice packaging and tidy.
Very lightweight and my the charger is a beast takes no time to charge at all.
Played around with the pen its pretty good and is magnetic so sticks to the top left edge on the rear of the screen that’s cool.
Spent a couple of hours settings things up and removing bloatware windows 11 unnecessary files and putting the start button where it should be. …. Will update in a few weeks when thoroughly tested as I use mine at least 12hrs a day 7 days a week.
But for now seems quiet and fast and the oled screen is just lovely.

I had bought a similar type of flip over netbook from CHUWI but that was just awful. The idea is good so I tried a better brand. And can only say that I am very happy with the ASUS. Fast, reliable and a gorgeous screen. Would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI’m an IT manager by day and an avid photographer. I also do a lot of 3D design for 3D printing. I’ve always had a preference for Asus products, especially Zenbooks. The Flip is no exception. Superb bright and calibrated screen. Stong performance. Quick to boot. Decent amount of RAM. Great battery life and, if you are the type of person who leaves their laptop permanently powered, clever power modes to stop the battery life being destroyed.
Unlike others have said, the pen is not a gimmick. It’s extremely useful for photo editing. Makes manual masks in Lightroom and Photoshop an absolute breeze. Being able to flip the screen 180 degress for an almost tablet-like experience is also great for photo editing. The only slight reservation is the choice of Intel graphics chip, if you are using something like Fusion 360 for 3D design, you have to pull down the rendering quality slightly but that does not significantly detract from an overal superb package for the money.

Really nice laptop. Slick and pretty. Quick too – and it’s an Asus so it’s solid. I just wish they offered a 15″ version. Windows 11 is what it is, can’t hold it against the hardware. And the tiny left-shift key on UK keyboards is horrific, but again I can’t fault the product itself. All that said, I am not disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersSo let’s start with the look of it. It is stunning. The brushed metal with rose gold is just pure elegance (if you like that kind of blend)

The screen truly is glorious. Content streaming is what this made for and in such a small device.

Heavy duty work does suffer from heat and constant fans running and the i7 does sort of underwhelm compared to other set ups, but then this is well documented and understood, and as I am only using it for general daily stuff and nothing to heavy, this is not an issue for me. Then when all is finished, I can sit back and stream my fav shows in glorious high quality.

Battery life is not as good as it could be, but again this is fairly well documented and, of course, it IS supporting a 4K OLED screen so….. I still; get 6 – 7 hours before needing to worry about charging and always have the charger on hand, so again, not an issue for me.

I do use the tablet mode a lot when out an about and it fulfils it’s role well. Though it is (obviously!) a bit heavier than a true tablet I really found it very easy to carry and work with, and that screen!!!!! wow.

All in all, a lovely device with an outstanding screen and more than enough spec to what I need it to while looking elegant all at the same time.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersConsidering the price and specs it is one of the best Windows laptops.
But the Intel processor is too power hungry, especially if compared with Apple.
Because of that, the battery life is not great and active cooling is required with heavy tasks which makes the laptop nosy (but the speed is good).
Bought this machine just because Windows architecture is more familiar for me, although I know that Apple processors are superior to Intel.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIt’s really not that light. Tricky to get your fingers to open it as it’s so tight and no dip or space for fingers to go and open.

Also it does come on automatically, hmm I’m not sure if I like that …is there an option to turn that off. The screen could need looking after as it’s flexible in essence.

It’s a nice machine. Could they have not put a bigger SD card in and or made it easy ….no I guess ALWAYS the way of manufacturers.

Colours are vibrant, really slim in essence but weighty, 1.3 kg not light …if you’re lugging around all day or lifting with a few fingers from base…..could slip out of hand easily cause of the erognomicaly design. It’s a good design, I personally feel it’s comes down to the weight again.

There isn’t any place to store the stylus on this device if you’re constantly using it with that.

However one thing is they should have put at least one port of a usb C in retro and of retro. The latest new usb lead supplied
