We’ve had three of these now for dogs and a grandchild. They take quite a lot of flack and have continued to work well. We live in a very old house and no door frame is standard buy they have all fitted. More than happy with them- my only complaint is the old style ones didn’t have all the holes in them but all in all they do the job very well

Looks great and although I have small dogs, I went for a higher gate as the height is right to open/close easily. I had a neighbour fit it for me as I’m not great on the DIY, bit fiddly but worth it as it’s completely secure, there is no floor lip to trip on and you can fit it close to the floor so even a chihuahua can’t get under it. Really pleased. My only gripe is that hinges are plastic not metal but they all seem to be like that now, which is a shame.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese gates have been so useful for us, we bought two – one for the kitchen and another for the lounge. They needed to be sturdy and tall enough to stop our English Bulldogs jumping up them and forcefully knocking them over as they did with the pressure fit gates.

We now have a baby and with it being so high it’s very easy to open and close whilst carrying a baby in your arms. Assembly was quick and easy, done by eye and a spirit level rather than using any guides as previous reviews said they were inaccurate.

We found that because they’re so high the door handle hits the top of the gate which is very noisy and means we can’t shut the doors. Fine for us as they’re never closed anyway but just something to consider if you’re using this gate on a doorway.

I also left out the tiny bit of plastic that stops the gate being opened in both directions, everything still works exactly as it should – it just gives you a bit more flexibility.

I have BabyDan gates all over my house as I hate pressure fitted gates, especially on my stairs as they are just tripping hazards and I don’t trust them to stay in place. BabyDan hates are just perfect in my eyes, very easy to install and honestly can’t think of anything bad to say about them.

Although designed for a large dog, we used this when my mother with Alzheimer’s and dementia started her midnight wandering- she couldn’t work out how to open this gate (really easy just a catch and lift) it meant we didn’t panic about her turning the gas on in the kitchen – also Missy our dog was contained! So win win all round!

I love the babydan gates as they are easy to open and easy to assemble with the cutout paper. Bought this for a puppy we hopefully can take home soon. Got the normal size for bedroom and the tall one for downstairs as I intend to keep that installed way into the adulthood of the dog. It is tall enough for it not to jump over when full size.

Great quality gate , the only thing that let it down was the tiny little screws it comes with , so came off the wall when I opened it after a couple of days , we just used our own bigger screws and wall plugs now it’s great.
Would buy again and just use our own bigger screws from the start .

We needed a really tall gate to stop our escapologist toddler from wandering at night. This is very tall and does the job.

It IS slightly hard to fit, but it was worth it for the height.

Well, after our Bullmastiff crept downstairs, opened our old stair gate and got the Christmas turkey we decided it’s time for a new stair gate!
The good thing about this gate is the adjustable width as our doorways are 85cm wide. The template provided allows for easy fixing into the door frame and took no time at all to install.
We’ve had the gate installed a few days now and she has not been able to escape the kitchen when left alone and she’s not been able to get in the kitchen when food is left on the sides!!
    Proper job!!

My partner said it was easy to install so that’s good! Toddler has zero chance of getting by this thing, it is really tall so I’m very pleased as it’s for above the stairs. It’s really easy to open and close as well, much prefer this to other gates that have the frame you trip over. Just wish it came in wood so it was a bit prettier but that’s just a small thing.

Got this gate to stop my dogs from getting to the front door and getting out if the front door was opened. It does the job perfectly. They can’t get through or over it but can still see what’s going on (I have two very nosy dogs!)! My son in law assembled and fitted the gate for me as I am disabled and it seemed to be pretty easy ~ there wasn’t any swearing anyway!! Good buy, very happy with it.

Really good gate! Strong and sturdy. Fits narrow or wide doorways. I would recommend 2 people do the last bit of u may have a temper tantrum like myself but my diy skills are basic to none so a competent adult should hv no trouble …..I received fantastic customer service from the manufacturer! (John from babydan) I like an idiot had wrecked one of the pieces and they sent me out a replacement. I can’t compliment them enough.

This is a great sturdy stairgate. I’m using it for my 5 year olds bedroom. He has learning difficulties and for his own safety he needs a stair gate but could climb over a standard size.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese gates are good for jumping dogs and because they don’t move once closed . The sprung ones do move slightly with use.
I did find screwing the fixings on to the gate when you have got it to the right size a bit frustrating. But the gate makes up for it. The fixings are easy to screw to a door frame. They include a template if needed.
It’s worth getting the frame fixings in the right place as a few millimetres out and the gate will be stiff.
The other benefit of this gate is you can have it any height off the floor to make it taller. It’s lovely not having to step over a gate frame when you go through it.
The gate removes from its fixings easily if you need to vary anything through the doorway and the gate is in the way.

Bought to stop my large bullmastiff barging in the door it is strong and sturdy and was easily fitted with very simple instructions. He’s not happy he can’t just push the door open but 5he wife is delighted that there’s no more mucky paw prints everywhere. Quality product with good strong steel constructio

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGreat item, simple to fit together & no bar at the bottom to trip over like all the other pressure fit items. You do have to screw this item to the wall (or) wooden banister & 2x fixings top/bottom on the other side tor the gate to latch into. We purchased this for our dogs, the extra height meant even our “springer” couldn’t jump it – great. Better still our other dog used to burst through the several pressure gates we have lost along the way… as they only latch at the top, with this item it latches top & bottom – problem solved, will not have to buy another gate again… well worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExactly what we needed to keep our Springer Spaniel in the kitchen whilst we were in the dining room at mealtimes. It’s high enough for her to know she cannot possibly jump over it, which I think she would have tried to do, with the baby gate we had before. Sturdy and very east to fit. Highly recommend.

great gate, just make sure you install the hinges first, then hang it, and then mark up the catches. that way you won’t have to do it twice and it will fit well. installed 5 of these already, so have learnt for lessons.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users4 stars due to the terrible instructions which had me using substantial amounts of bad language whilst putting it together. It is what it is. Effective when it was finally constructed. Close at times to send it back tho as I was becoming convinced it was warped or something. My dog has not breAched it and I don’t think she could. It’s sturdy and a good product.

Finally something my dog can’t jump over. The big benefit of this gate is that there’s no bar across the floor to trip over, this also means you can lift the gate slighly higher, as long as you make sure your dog can’t squeeze underneath of course. Abosultely worth the money and easy to fit. Very sturdy as well.

Excellent safety gate which I use to keep my large dog in (or out of) the kitchen! She could jump over the usual safety gates but this one has proved to be too tall for even her to attempt to jump. Very sturdy and easy to fit, highly recommended

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHaving researched several baby gates, I came across BabyDan’s extra tall safety gate, which immediately suited for our needs. I needed to a baby gate for the top of our stairs, but immediately on the landing there is another step leading off to a hallway. I knew a standard height baby gate would not do the trick as there would have been a risk for children to gain access to it from a higher level. However this extra tall gate has provided the safety I require and I am reassured to let the children run free on the upper levels of the home.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought one of these gates several years ago, when my Lakeland terrier was young and sprightly. She jumped straight over it, so I sold it. She is now 10 and we’ve got her a companion dog. So I needed a safety gate for the puppy. Neither of them can get over this, but I’ve fitted it so there is a 15cm gap at the bottom, which , of course, increases the height. Then I’ve cable tied an old piece of fireguard to the bottom so they can’t get under it. Cake cooling racks would have worked to fill the gap too. Just trying to give people ideas if they have a dog that will still be able to jump this gate if fitted in the usual way!

Be careful not to throw away the paper template for fixing the gates to the wall as they are essential for getting a correct fitting and you will need them again if you move the gate.

Does the job we really needed it to! Thin enough gaps to stop them being able to get through and tall enough to stop them getting over.. We had to put it closer to the ground though as the cats could fit underneath at first!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI received the gate without instructions so it was a bit of a puzzle, however, after contacting the supplier, the instructions were provided by email and eventually I managed (with help) to get the gate erected at the top of my stairwell. The only criticism I have is that for wall fixing (as in top of stairs) there was no long fixing screws and rawl plugs provided. The short screws that were provided were definitely not suitable for fixing into a wall, but would probably be suitable only for a door frame. The short screws pulled away from the wall the day after fitting, even with rawl plugs, so I had to re-drill and re-rawl plug with longer screws and it has been fine since. This was only on the hinge side of the gate, where it bears most of the weight. All that said, I am happy with the end result and it has been tested to the full with my 10month old granddaughter pulling herself up by the gate. Plus it keeps the cat in!

so I had to re-drill and re-rawl plug with longer screws and it has been fine since. This was only on the hinge side ...

This gate confines our greyhounds in the breakfast room when we have visitors. They can see and hear what is going on and we can keep an eye on them. I also like the fact that when the gate is open there is no bar along the bottom to trip over.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI bought this gate to keep our dog in a room with a very narrow door (61.5cm). The details say that the gate will only go down to 63cm so I was expecting to have to chisel some of the door frame away to make it fit. However, with a little bit of modification (basically building it wrong) you can make this gate fit a space of about 60cm wide. I wouldn’t recommend doing this if you’re trying to keep a child safe or from the top of the stairs but for keeping a dog in a room this modification seems perfectly sturdy.

The first gate I received had a piece missing and two of something that there should only be one of – amazon replaced it without question but it did mean I had to wait an extra two days before I could install the gate! But it’s a well build gate that pretty easy to put together (although the instructions aren’t that easy to follow – too small and not clear enough) and easy to fit. I would recommend this.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought to keep back two extra large dogs (St Bernard). Very good quality; strong, sturdy and secure. Excellent installation instructions and mounting template guides. I really love the new single hand locking/unlocking clip design. This is slightly heavier to lift single handed than smaller safety gates but this can be attributed to size and build quality.

Bought to keep our Westie out of the hall and away from the letterbox! And it works a treat. Well constructed & sturdy and with the expandable/retractable fittings it was easy to fit into the space available, i.e. the wall at the top of the gate and a large old fashioned skirting board at the bottom. Ideal and a great buy – well pleased.

This item arrived quickly was easy enough to assemble, and does what I wanted. It will be ideal for most pet owners and for children. however my Lab/cross can jump it when he wants to, which is a bit of a let down but then I just have awkward animals. I am still very pleased with the gate and the opening & closing device is fine.

I have had one of these for years, but needed an extra one to help puppy proof my house. Easy to put together, but a small spring that used to be part of the opening mechanism has been discontinued. I think this is a mistake on the makers part. But time will tell

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is a great quality gate & has got to be one of the tallest available. Having liked the first one so much we ordered a second one as they help our 13 year old cat get some peace from our young springer spaniel! The gate is strong, very adjustable & easy to install & use, using the clever fittings included. Great Value!
