Purchased these trousers for my daughter in law as she walks most weekends with her husband and children. Reported back to say they are fantastic, very well made and totally waterproof and nothing gets through them even when walking in Lake District in very poor rainy weather. Highly recommended
I wish I got these trousers sooner. They are lightweight and I am a able to keep them in my back and put on when required. Totally waterproof and kept me dry during showers.
I’m really happy with the fit as I’m quite short and was worried they would be too long for me but I was so happy when tried them on and found them just perfect length for me.
I know these trousers are expensive because they are Gore Tex and Berghaus but in my opinion these are well worth every penny.
10/10 for me.
This product is light weight but warm and very waterproof when used over trouser’s. I have worn them on some seriously wet mountain days and have remained dry. They are also very comfortable.I managed to get them in a sale as I was a little reluctant to pay full price for them as they are not cheap. But they are good value.
These things are super light and very comfortable. I have had a paclite 2 jacket for many years and really impressed with it so decided to take the plunge on the trousers. They really are exceptionally waterproof and can hardly be felt over my walking trousers. Have not got too clammy in them so they are obviously quite breathable. I find most Gore-Tex stuff lasts forever these days particularly if you keep them clean. If you are after a waterproof trouser you probably wont go far wrong with these
These replaced a slightly heavier-duty pair of Berghaus which had begun to get wet at the knees.
First time out: 6 hours in constant drizzle and my legs were the only part that was completely dry, so full marks there.
These trousers have zips almost to the top of the leg and double tags so you can vent or reach into a trouser pocket.
A few minor niggles:
1. Although they do scrunch up enough to fit into a small mesh bag, it requires some effort as the bag is tiny.
2. There’s a noticeable white label inside on the front, which I mistook for the back, so I put them on back-to-front first time, thinking it was marking the back. The back is actually marked with black tag and loop and in poor light and conditions this could be tricky to find. An opportunity missed by the designers, I feel.
3. The zips are well-covered by a flap and at the knee there’s a popper tab which is a) completely unnecessary as the flap really doesn’t move, b) gets in the way when un/zipping. I will be removing it in due course.
4. I bought exactly the same size as my previous Berghaus overtrousers, but these are just ever so slightly tugging as I walk. (And I’ve lost weight!)
5. They are slightly noisier (not intrusively) than my previous (which are no longer made) and the fabric feels thinner.
Overall, however, so far so good, and I’m pleased.
I bought these for wearing in Iceland for walking and occasional boat trips. They replaced some from another brand that let in water in 20 minutes, although labelled waterproof not just showerproof. These Goretex ones are light, comfortable to wear and repel water easily. They don’t rustle. The side zips go right up so it’s easy to get them on or off over boots. Although light, they are wind proof too. I’m very pleased with them. They are a little short, slipping up if you sit down and exposing the ankle. I ordered short because I’m 5’4″, but medium may have been better.
Unfortunately i sent these back due to being slightly tight on the waist when wearing over golf trousers.
But lovely design .
For trekking in Nepal – lightweight with a small stuff-sack, that is very useful.
Breathability fab, waterproof and have good hem to thigh zip openings.
True to size, excellent product – I am generally a size 10 and 5’6″ tall. I bought a 12, 29 leg. They are fab but I could easily have managed perfectly with the size 10!
They looked fine but I returned them as I’m only 5 ft and didn’t want to pay twice the amount to get a shorter size so took a chance. They were much too long. I’m a size 10 but found the waist too tight and that was without trousers underneath. I’m at an age where I can’t stand anything tight around my waste so they weren’t for me
Bought these trousers before hiking the West Highland Way and climbing Ben Nevis. They did an excellent job of keeping out the rain and wind in challenging conditions. The rain on the outside of the trousers would dry really quickly and they also got less muddy than my partner’s trousers. Compared to my previous, cheaper rain trousers they’re much easier to take on and off, due to the full length zipper, and also roll up really small, taking up next to no space in the backpack. They also look relatively good for rain over trousers (which are never the sexiest piece of kit). Overall really pleased with my purchase and would recommend them.
I’m unusually a UK8 but I sized up with these so that I could wear thicker jeans underneath and it worked as I planned. Comfortably. I’m 5’4 and bought the 31 inch and the hem touches the floor around my heel slightly but it doesn’t drag when I walk. Bought this cover up when I’m cycling in the rain. I haven’t tested it out yet, but it won’t be long til I do. There’s the usual noise from friction when I walk, but it’s not bothersome.
I have had previous versions of Berghaus waterproof trousers and to be honest have been happy with the brand. I brought these due to their compactness – when you fold them up into the mesh bag you are looking at the size of a small bag of sugar. When you are out on day hikes and you bag is full of ‘stuff’ its nice to not have your bag filled out with waterproof trousers. I like the side zips as when it get hot – you can aerate your legs and access pockets in the trousers. Personally think its worth paying a little extra for the lightness and compact nature of the product.
Tired of walking about in trousers that absorb the water from the bottom up when it rains and then proceed to soak my shoes, I bought these Gortex ones despite the cost (they were far more expensive in local shops) and I am extremely pleased with their capability. They are over trousers but as the weather is so warm (but often very wet at the moment) I have worn them without trousers underneath and they are so light and cool. The sides have a zip that you can undo for extra air circulation and although they are more wide down the legs with nothing underneath, they look just fine, they aren’t meant to be a fashion statement anyway, The bottoms also have a button to make them tighter if necessary. I am a standard size 12 and this size fits me perfectly. Would thoroughly recommend.
Very light weight, lenght option (short) was great but a little wide in thighs and a little narrow at ankle to fit over ski boots for touring
I’m from the lake district so I’m confident of my expert status as someone who understands rain and avoiding getting wet when out walking. I’ve had the male equivalent of these overtrousers for ages with no problems and more than reasonable levels of waterproofing. It was therefore nice to see my wife out in these and for once not ending up looking like a drowned rat at the end of a walk where, surprisingly for Cumbria, it rained – but only for all of it.They are certainly light and add very little to the overall rucsac weight, they’re also well made and easy to get on over other clothing (because you wear other clothing when hiking right?) using a velcro fastening which seems robust and likely to grip for a long time. Go for a slightly bigger fit than you actually are ladies as it will give you more room to get them on. Enjoy your walk without that fairly offputting feeling of water slowly seeping down to your boots…
I walk the dogs five miles twice a day (yup nutter). Ok so we’ve had these high winds and lashing down with rain at the moment.
Have the trousers kept me dry? They really have! not only dry outside, but dry inside when walking gets hot and sweaty. I love the zip on the sides at the top that helps to keep cool when needed. Easy to put on even whilst wearing walking boots thanks to the long zip. But buyer beware, the leg lengths are a bit weird, short are 29 inch, the normal are 31 inch and long 33 inch. Sadly I bought normal length and they are bit too long giving me a baggy trouser look. I’ve not sent them back as the price difference is 30. So I’ll put up with it, besides being honest they are mainly for dog walks.
