I bought two of these for our cordless chainsaw, as we needed to do a lot of cutting (a tree fell down in recent gales).
I hadn’t realised how badly the previous battery had become since we bought it with the chainsaw in 2020. These new batteries gave a lease of new life to the chainsaw which can now whizz through almost anything.
One problem is that if you’re using the chainsaw for a long sustained period (eg cutting through a thickish trunk), then the battery can overheat which will cause it to stop working, even though it is not discharged. Having a few batteries to cycle through means that you can let one battery cool down while you’re using another, then switch back.
I’ve marked the battery down slightly for longevity as the previous battery has obviously lost a lot of capacity, and is only 3 years old, and it has not been heavily used. I am assuming that these will be the same, but I will monitor it.
Excellent replacement (or spare) battery for Black + Decker Combi Hammer Drill. Been using it pretty much non-stop for 2months and had zero issues.
Appreciate the slightly larger capacity than what came will the drill originally, as it last significantly longer.
Big improvement on runtime compared to the now ageing original one. Good on B&D, using a common battery across their product range, to help keep costs lower.
The standard charger for this battery from Black and Decker is pathetic and will take 24 hrs to charge the battery fully. A 1 hour charger is available which I will buy next year.
I bought the drill and battery for a project I have next year and although this is not tradesman quality it will do what I need and last me for at least the rest of my years. I have stored the battery in the house over winter as they do not like the cold and will lose life if stored in cold conditions in the shed or garage.
Like others on this page, I bought this as a second battery to extend the work time of my B+D strimmer; it’s exactly the same compact battery as the one that came with the tool and charges with the same charger — indeed these batteries will work with other B+D power tools so it’s potentially a useful investment for the gardener or DIY enthusiast; it comes well-packaged though — indeed one virtually has to destroy the box in order to get the product out.
Quite happy with it, it`s charging right now — the price has just gone up by a couple of quid, so it was a fortuitous purchase for me.
Hard to know if value as needs a long life (that is can be recharged many times) to justify cost. However battery is better than electric with trailing cable, Only lasts about 20 minutes between charges which for a large garden is not long enough.
Am impressed by how long it runs for – well over 30 min’s. My only criticism or suggestion would be it would be helpful if the amount of charge left could be shown. That way you could have an idea of how long it has to be charged for. The charger is compact – unlike some I could mention (B & Q etc.) and does show that a battery needs to be charged but if it indicated for how long it would be even better.
