Blockus is a really easy game to get the hang of and great fun.

Once you have played it a few times, you develop a bit of a strategy!

Really fun, well made game that’s quick and easy to play

We had to buy this game after playing it only once.
It’s so easy to play and is so much fun, you can really get into it with a bunch of friends.
    We even play in pairs!

As adults and a few drinks you all get well into it!
    Highly recommended!

I bought this game as a friend let us borrow his. This is a really good game, easy to pick up and play. The rules are easy and fun for all the family.

We love playing this game and have since played with other friends and family who have brought the game too. We love that you have to think a little and try to block the other plays. My daughter plays with us, but as she is 3 we let her place her tiles where she likes. Love, love, love this game!

This game is so much fun – it’s like playing Tetris against others (different rules though).

It is best with 4 players but can be played with less, but gets a bit tricky as the game is designed for 4 players to be able to play it properly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this as a family game at Christmas and we absolutely love it. We are a family aged 10 years, 20 years and a mum and dad and all 4 of us loved it. It’s easy to learn, doesn’t take too long to finish (about 30 mins) so keeps the attention of all players. It strategy but it’s not, it’s tactics but it’s not, it’s so frustratingly good. We even took it to My parents and played it as 4 adults and they are now on about buying it too, to take to their friends. I would highly recommend it. The only thing I don’t like isthat I can’t beat my husband at it. It’s fun trying though.

Great game for the strategic person in you! Easy to play and make enemies! Friend introduced this to me and I had to get one! Great for blackouts this winter!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this board game to play with my twin boys 2 years ago when they were 5.
It quickly became our Go-to game and we created a new family time playing board games in a way that we didn’t have previously. A very simple idea, easy to learn but with no 2 games the same, it’s still a favourite today. We’ve played with friends and relatives of all ages who’ve become quick converts..
    Really couldn’t rate highly enough!

Such a great game! It is a 2 or 4 player and makes you think about your pieces and how they can link together and sneak in between the other colours. It’s okay for travelling but with some of the smaller pieces I decided to leave it at home rather than take it with us on holiday. Highly recommended game for all ages (4+)

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersFun game, quite basic thin plastic base, but the tiles seem rugged enough. This game is better as a 4-player, but the instructions suggest that 2-player is possible by each player taking two colours of tiles. However, you can make it into a better 2-player game by simply drawing some marks on the base board using a permanent marker. See the photo. By doing this, you have effectively converted the game to “Blokus Duo”. With this conversion, two players now play on a 14×14 grid instead of 20×20. Also, with the Duo version the starting tiles are not placed in the corners, but should cover one of the two circles in the photo. With this marker modification, you now have a more versatile game for 2 players as well as the normal 4 player mode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun game, easy to get into for all ages

My 7 year old and I really enjoy this game. It’s very simple and easy to learn but has an element of strategy in terms of trying to spread out across the board. It’s a great game for her to take to her nanny’s house as it doesn’t have complicated rules for her to explain to her nan. If playing a two player game you take 2 colours each however (I found after a little online research) you can reduce the board playing area to 14 x 14 squares and play two colours in the reduced area. We used another colour tile to create a perimeter around the area. We much preferred to play a two player game this way so we only had to focus on one colour.

Love this, it is so simple and challenging at the same time. Easy to understand HOW to play, not easy to beat your opponents (especially when they gang up on you!) If your child can play chess, they will easily grasp this. The challenge comes from your opponents. Really quick to set up and play, and you will soon pick up some strategies you think will help you win!
Only down side is it is for 4 players maximum, so if you are a larger family/group you’d have to play in teams.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersMy family love this game. Rules (rule?) take seconds to learn and the game can be played as easily, if not as effectively, by our 8 year old as our resident maths genius.

However, why is the game so expensive for what is just a plastic board and a bunch of plastic counters?

Additionally, the board design could be so much better. Rather than just an open board, the case should have been designed as a clam shell so the pieces could have been contained within it, like the pieces in a chess set. It would have made storage much easier and the game more portable.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersFirstly, I bought this through Amazon warehouse deals and was going to return it as the instructions were in German. However looked them up on-line and kept the game as pretty easy to follow. Played with my 9 year old granddaughter and we enjoyed it but weren’t blown away by it. You are attempting to place all of your tiles on the board and block those of your opponent. When you can’t place any more then you total up what’s left. There are better strategy games but this is ok. We did have to think about which block of tiles to play as there are single, double, etc up to a block of 5 so there is a bit of a challenge and your colour tiles can only be placed if touching a corner of the same colour. It won’t be going to the Charity shop so I guess I’m thinking that we will play it again.

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersExcellent concept for all ages. At a high level each player has the same shapes. The purpose of the game is to place as many shapes as possible. The winner is whomever has got the fewest left. Each player plays in turn starting from their own corner. You can only play if your shape joins a shape you played previously by its corner (as shown on the picture). Sounds simple ? Well not quite, very quickly the board becomes very crowded, and the skill is to put your shapes down so as to allow “a passage” through your opponents’ shapes.

The game can be played between 2 to 4 player (if fewer than 4 players participate, you either own 2 colours each (2 players), or play in turn the 4th colour (3 players) making it an even more strategic game when placing the 3rd colour !)

This game can be adapted for all levels. As adults, it can become really competitive and you need to think very carefully your next move, to strike the right balance between blocking your opponents and developing your own game. We also played with our 4 year old who enjoys turning shapes around to work out which one to play next and where to put it down, giving him a better understanding of “space awareness”.

All in all a truly great game. We do enjoy playing a lot of games, and I must say this is one of the better ones I have seen ! Quite impressed overall.

The shapes are in coloured plastic, so is the board game (white plastic). Initially I was slightly concerned by it (I am usually leaning towards more traditionally made wooden board games), but they seem well made, solid enough. No complaint in the end. Well worth it.

Update: January 2016. Game still holding up (so really good quality !). The family still loves it. Excellent, highly recommended. Can be adapted for all ages ….
