I’m an ex beautician and I now only do my own nails. I use blue sky because of the range in colours, ease of use and best price. They are very easy to use with no training needed really. Last a long time and cure in seconds
I’ve been doing my own gel nails for a while but I always find my nail varnish randomly pings off. The whole nail! All the time. Or it chips. I’d seen this brand in a salon and thought I’d try it. It actually works. My nail varnish hasn’t moved. Perfect. So the moral is. You buy cheap, you buy twice.
Usually my polish picks and peels and I end up biting it off. These are amazing, it actually hardens and cures properly! I’m keeping my nails looking perfect for a few weeks at a time which I love!
I was skeptical of this item being no wipe and especially for the price. I’ve used Bluesky in the past and found it just ok
I have to say though that this product is amazing! It goes on nicely and dries rock hard, no sticky residue, in 2 mins under my UV lamp. It’s such a great price too
Very impressed and will definitely be ordering more!
Great product, used at for home manicures my daughters nails are currently on week three without chipping. I got two weeks out of mine but roughed them up by doing gardening without gloves! all about nail prep too but these really do the job and with a lovely shine. Definitely recommend.
mine lasted about 3 weeks before I got a take off. it’s really tedious to re-apply the polish because some of the sides of the nail may not have caught the product, generally the thumb for me. could also be because of the uv light i was using but it still did the job of making it matte and lovely! this is ontop of gel powdered nails not natural nails. not too sure how it would have been on natural nails.
Wow . 5 weeks and it doesn’t go anywhere. Keeps it matte and comparing other matte brands this one goes yellow way less . I’m a smoker and hairdresser so you know when that happens is good . I would say do double top coat and thin layers goes long way .
Base coat doesn’t seem to set after using uv you could literally rub it off, doesn’t make putting a colour on a problem though and the top coat does as says
My first time doing gel nails and this was perfect, so easy to use and zero issues.
Base coat is tacky after setting but just continue and paint chosen colour on top (the colour I used was also tacky after setting under the light) finally topped off with this top coat and everything sets solid and no need to wipe off any sticky residue. Very easy to use and lovely finish (have not removed it yet so cannot comment on that)
I’m not one to review but I couldn’t not with this product! I have owned a gel machine for years but have never had polish that could actually stay salon perfect for longer than a few days. It has been a week now and after using the base and top coat my nails are still perfect, shiny and without a single chip! Highly recommend!!
I originally used another gel nail polish brand but after not getting on with it I did some research and found Bluesky got lots of good reviews so decided to give it a try.
The base coat is great, as well as the colours I have got so far, but I find the no wipe top coat cracks after about a week. I like the idea of a no wipe top coat but to be honest it doesn’t really save much time.
The nail varnish stays on very well and I have started using the normal top coat which so far has not cracked (on day 9). Would totally recommend Bluesky and wish I could review the top and base coat separately so as to not bring the rating down too much.
Having used Bluesky products for several years, as well as ‘top’ brands, I would recommend this brand for similar longevity at a much more reasonable price. Note I do sometimes use a different brand for my choice of colour varnish, but would always stick to the same brand for both base coat and top coat layers.
Quick delivery, great price and product, as always is fab. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews about allergic reactions and gloopy formulas because mine is absolutely fine. Works as well as any other Bluesky product I’ve used. This is my first time using the no wipe top coat and it was great! Cured each layer for about 90 seconds and the end result is glossy and hard. Both the base coat and top coat in this duo are great. I’ve been doing my own gels for years now, and have no issues at all with this product. No reactions and super glossy nails.
This is the best one I have tried I like this brand Allot , I have been reading comments and you really have to wipe of the residue left after you cure for 90 seconds , I find using alcohol spray is perfect your left with a wonderful shine the quality of this make is 5 stars for me compared to other brand s , the base coat and top coat I got with my little nail kit to start with was terrible all patchy this is nothing like that I think those who are writing about the tacky residue you really have to just wipe it off thoroughly don’t be scared it’s the residue that’s coming off I personally do this with alcohol spray or baby oil x
These base and no wipe top coats polishes are great, I am new to gel nail polish, having painted my own nails for over 30 years with normal nail varnish I decided to invest in gel polish for a longer lasting finish, I was recommended Bluesky and I have not been disappointed. I put the bluesky acid free primer on first, which does not need to be cured, then I apply 1 coat of base, cured 30secs, 1coat colour, cure 30secs, 2nd coat colour, cure 30sec, 1 coat top no wipe, cure 30 sec, job done, perfect nails for 3-4 weeks, after 4 weeks I don’t have a single lifting but remove it due to the large growth area at the base of my nail, I do washing up with no rubber gloves on every day and gardening and I have been amazed at how durable it is, would highly recommend
I bought the Candyfloss light pink and some gold glitter for my nails as pictured. Overall, a good polish and two coats was sufficient for the finish I wanted. I bought a cheap (10) UV LED lamp and the only thing I would note is that it took a lot longer to cure under the lamp than the instructions suggest – nearer 3 mins was needed to fully cure as they were still a bit tacky with any less time. This is my first time doing my own gel nails and my learnings are:
1. Prepare your cuticles well – I didn’t and got less than a beat finish around my cuticles
2. Cure for longer than instructed under the lamp if the polish is still tacky afterwards – I had to do double / triple the time in some cases but this may be dependent on the quality of your lamp (mine was a cheap 10 one)
3. You will need the base coat, top coat, UV lamp and also a nail polish to complete your gel nails
I had been paying for gel manicures previously, but after realising the money spent on my nails I decided to take a break. I realised why I’d moved to gels… nail polish didn’t last well on my nails and my nails snapped and broke so much easier.
I’d resigned myself to booking back in and having a hefty ‘nail’ budget every month with a work friend mentioned that she did her own. I did some research and watched some YouTube videos and saw blue sky as being highly recommended by beginners and professionals alike, and that the no wipe was the preferred top coat.
The base coat and top coat applied beautifully and cured under my new lamp like a dream. I read that rubbing alchohol can be used with kitchen roll to prep the nail, and that worked perfectly well to remove the oils before applying the gel. I already have rubbing alchohol in for other things, so that worked well.
The polish has lasted well, even after heavy use of my hands (including a big spring clean!). Would most definitely buy again – cannot recommend highly enough.
Positives:-
– Nice viscosity ( i’ve seen some reviews where people have complained that it’s too thick and gloopy but, I find this to be a huge advantage when applying the topcoat to make sure I’ve covered everything)
– smells pleasant
– very effective (with proper nail prep’, application of base coat and gel polish)
– lasts a long time
– easy to break the seal with a 100 grit nail file
Negatives:-
If you overload your brush by accident, it’ll run easily down the side walls of the nail plate in a blob of product but, with practise you can get over this or use an angled, narrow brush (dipped in isopropyl alcohol, then wiped on a lint free wipe) to remove any excess down the walls and around the cuticle area.
– you have to wipe it with isopropyl alcohol afterwards, unlike the no-wipe version but, this is a money saver as it costs less than a no-wipe which I reserve for special nail art products that rely on a no-wipe top coat (like mirror effect powders).
As a first-timer doing my own shellac manicure, I was really unsure what brand to go for, but I honestly cannot recommend Bluesky enough! I use the base and coat with a Bluesky colour and it lasts me 2-3 weeks (you can see how much my nails have grown and the polish is intact). This is particularly impressive, because normal polish only stays on for about 2-3 days!
As it says on the tin, the coat is ‘no wipe’ and it bakes perfectly in 60-75 seconds under a LED UV lamp. The base is also great, because you don’t need to ‘scratch’ or file the top of your nails for it to stick – I get great results without ruining my natural nail. Speaking of, I have to say I expected my nails to get ruined after wearing this back-to-back for months on end, but, actually, I have not noticed ANY breakage or unhealthy appearance.
Best of all, if you’re sick of wearing colour, you can just apply the base and the top together (base->bake->top->bake) for a durable shine on your nails – get that ‘no make up’ make up for your nails!
Pro Tip: if you want the base to stick properly, make sure you remove all oil from you nail before applying. I usually do this by washing my hands with degreaser or washing liquid (e.g. Fairy). Also make sure that the polish doesn’t leak into your cuticles, as that way your layers cannot seal completely and, when water and oil get in, your polish will peel off.
I am a bit of a newbie beginner with gel nails after a friend recommended to me that I can achieve the same goal at home as I could at the nail salon, minus the price tag! These products are a cheaper alternative to other more expensive brands and do the job just as well.
The top coat and base coat are very simple to use to achieve gorgeous gel nails and I have no complaints with these particular BlueSky products! First clean the nail throughly using a prep + wipe nail gel polish cleanser cleaner. Use the BlueSky base coat on clean dry nails and cure under a UV lamp (these can be picked up easily for approximately 15) for 3 minutes. Apply your gel colour and cure again under the UV lamp. Finally apply the BlueSky top coat and cure under the lamp one final time. The topcoat finishes off the perfect look for your nails, even after wiping with alcohol after the final cure, it leaves a beautiful shine on your nails.
My gel nails lasted three weeks and looked as good as they did on the first day! I was able to wash dishes and go about my daily tasks without any problems. The BlueSky top coat is fantastic and protects the gel polish underneath very well.
I shopped around before purchasing and both the BlueSky base coat and topcoat together for this price are an excellent deal. I would definitely purchase these items again.
I LOVE this top coat, this is my 3rd bottle, but have to say the base coat when used with a Bluesky colour in between is super hard to get off. Maybe I’ve just been spoilt that I always had the pure gels removed in a salon, and in the past when I did my own nails I only used the gel topcoat over regular polish, but removing this base coat drives me bonkers! It just took me 30mins! This said, the manicure has lasted almost 2 weeks which is not bad on my flakey nails, and a good 5 days longer than I can normally make the gel over regular polish last. I can see this being useful when I am going away on holiday or I know I’ll have to tie a mani over for more than 1 week. Otherwise though, this is too fiddly to remove compared to what I’m used to! And for the record: bluesky colour over regular base coat is a disaster (last no longer than regular polish but takes ages to remove) – don’t do that!
I love conventional nail polish but always have issues waiting for it to dry. I don’t think I’ve ever managed a full set without at least one nail being smudged. Add on that it quickly chips, even though I try to touch up ends, the gloss goes off quickly and I end up with ragged looking nails more than beautifully manicured ones….I’ve always wanted to try the Shellac polish and had just received a dryer for it for review purposes so I bought this base and top coat set, some pretty glittery polish and of course some 100% acetone remover!
Armed with some online info and the basics on drying from the unit, I did my first ever Shellac polish. I’ve never even had it done or seen it done at a salon so it really was trial by fire. I learned next time to be a bit more careful about going right to edges as the base coat spread off my left thumb and down the side of my skin. I let it dry then scraped up to edge of nail with knife to lift it and snipped along the edge with scissors, reasonably neat but next time I’ll do better. I’ve added a pic of the results, one coat base, two coats polish and one coat top, with top and coat given 60 secs drying and polish coats 90 secs. Longer than the unit says but given how easily I smudge ordinary polish I wanted to be sure it was dry. I found it easy, I even put the unit on the floor to do my foot, and I’m so pleased with the results that I’m a convert. It took me about 25 mins in all, and wow – NoSmudging, Hooray! Usually by day two my nails are dulling and showing wear at the tips ( pc keyboard doesn’t help ) but these are beautifully glossy as if I’d onlyjust done them.
Web info suggests it should last two weeks and I’ll be really pleased if that’s so, but whatever I’ll be doing it again once this wears off, as its so easy.
