An excellent shaver for daily shaves, but the longer hairs from a 2 or 3 day beard need more chasing down.
It would have been nice to have a simple integrated sideburn trimmer.
If you are looking for a new shaver, consider what you will be using it for. Because for 30 you are not going to get perfection.
I use this on weekends, travel and days when I work from home. If I go into work, or to a wedding or something, I’m going to have a wet shave with my trust Gillette.
It does a good job for the money. It reminds me of the old electric no frills electric razors my dad used 30 years ago.
It’s a reasonably close shave if you take your time.
It comfortable.
If you want a fast and close shave, you are going to need to spend a good 100 to 200 to get it.
So for 30, yeah it’s good.
This shaver is very powerful and has stamina too.Used 7 times and still no recharge needed. Only slight snag is no retractable component for longer hairs but they still get disappear. .Value.
I have used a Philips 3000 Series shaver for a couple of years without ever being particularly happy. I have changed the rotary blades a couple times but shaving takes ages and is not particularly close.
My brother recommended this Braun 300s. At half the price of the Philips, I was a tad dubious. However, he was right. This shaver is excellent – giving a comfortable and close shave. A full recharge takes about 90 minutes but, when in a rush, a 5 minute charge is sufficient for a single shave.
The shaver is easily cleaned under a tap and it can be used while it is charging. On the other hand, there is no trimming attachment and the razor is a tad noisy. I can live with that.
My only serious gripe would be the cost of Braun replacement foil heads. They cost almost as much as a new shaver! Compatible heads are available for about a third of the price. Whether they are as effective may be open to debate…….
Anyone that doesn’t read the blurb and impulse buys will be disappointed there’s no beard trimmer. It’s only when you go into the full description you find out. Must do better Amazon. As for the shaver, always used Braun and was replacing a ten year old single foil. First use just as I would expect. Fair value.
30 plus years of daily shaving using all manner of razors and this is the best electric shaver I’ve ever owned. Nice close shave, easy to clean, decent battery too.
Used on knarly wirery facial hair on wrinkly tough old sensetive skin and it doesn’t cause me any rashing.
Quality OK, average shave, durable. Dependable, reliable. Battery life not very long. Easy to clean and wash. No need to repair when gets old. Just get a new one as low priced.
Wanted convenient shaver for week end break . Fair price , and did exactly what I wanted , close shave , fairly comfortable and worked for a week from one charge . This is basic simple shaver but it works well , 30 is a bargain, saw other reviews which stated new foil is 20 , why bothe
Like others have said, it’s not the best but easily good enough and I agree. I needed a new head and for those looking consider it’s nearly as cheap to buy the whole shaver again!
Shaves better than many other electric shavers. Only minor complaint is that the charger only came with a two pin plug. As I do not charge it in the bathroom, I have had to buy an adapters for use with a three pin socket.
Right ok lets have a wee review on this razor. Firstly i have had electric razors in the past and have not been happy as they take longer to shave your face than a wet shave does and they never get as close as a shave niether. But this razor was a lot cheaper than others online so i thought i,d give it a go , Now then i have had this for a good few weeks now and i have not charged it yet so thats amazing, secondly it shaves pretty well too although like all electric shavers you have to keep going over the same areas to get the job done, So overall i am pretty pleased with the shaver.
This is my third Braun shaver. The previous one, also from the Series 3 lineup (model 330) served me well for 12 years, so naturally I wanted to go with another Braun.
I’m not disappointed. It does its job well, feels softer than the previous shaver and is quieter. It’s not magical though so don’t expect to shave off 100% of hair after just one pass. That’s probably impossible with this type of shavers (foil) because of different hair growth directions – you must always go against the hair growth direction. But the shave does feel quite close. I usually shave every other day (48-hour interval), but the shaver handled 72-hour hair with no problems.
I like the fact that the removable shaving head is a single unit, rather than two as in the previous shaver (the foil and the cutter block were separate). Overall, the construction of the shaver is much simpler than my previous one, not least due to the lack of a built-in trimmer, but also because how the shaving head attaches. Simpler construction will hopefully mean fewer chances for breaking something.
The main con of this shaver is the lack of accessories, especially the long hair trimmer. The next model with a trimmer that I could find wasn’t able to shave while charging (an important selection criteria for me), in addition to a much higher price. Instead, I ordered a beard trimmer kit (part BT32) which *I hope* will fit this shaver (apparently it should). It’s also sad that the shaver doesn’t come with a brush, a storage case and machine oil that the previous shaver had, but this was known before purchase and the low price reflects minimal accessory kit. (Actually, I can use the brush from the old shaver and still have some oil left, so there’s less waste!). The shaver does come with a protective cap though, so the lack of a storage case is hardly an annoyance.
An important note on the charger’s plug. It’s a 2-pin plug that *looks* like an EU plug but *isn’t* – it won’t fit into an EU socket! (I bought it for use in continental Europe). But it fits into a UK power plug adaptor I have for use with UK appliances, it’s a special shaver-only UK plug standard (apparently “BS 4573 (UK shaver)” – you can look it up on Wikipedia).
The charger is apparently interchangeable with other Braun shavers (if those shavers are marked accordingly) but comes with a straight cord, whereas my previous one was slinky, which was more comfortable to use when shaving while plugged in. P&G support (which owns the Braun brand it appears) told me the old charger is not compatible with the new shaver despite the output current and the connector being exactly the same, which is a shame, because my old charger was for EU sockets. I wish they made the chargers standard, interchangeable and optional to reduce the amount of electric waste.
At the time of writing this review I have owned this shaver for 19 months.
This shaver appeared to be a bargain. It was a lot cheaper than the others I had on a watchlist but I noticed it didn’t have the beard trimmer function. Thats why it’s cheaper.
The instructions say when it is new to charge it right up and then to run it untl it is flat. I did this a couple of times and it lasted for a whole months worth of shaving. Brilliant.
Very close shave, quiet, comfortable, light to hold, very grippy. Only comment is that the power light isn’t so easy to see when the shaver is in use.
Now just over a year & a half later the battery is barely seeing a week out before it needs recharging. It’s kind of ok but the “long-life NiMH batteries” don’t seem to hold up to their hype.
Luckily this shaver is one of the few that you can run on battery and/or mains and it can be run on mains whilst shaving. The shavers that you drop into charging ports can’t do this.
Apart from the battery life depleting so quickly I’d recommend it if you are looking for a good shave on a budget.
