I purchased this for my elderly parents. It was a little difficult for them to pre-program the speed dial, so I took over and found it easy enough following the instructions. I now feel confident that they can contact myself and others without any problem.
We needed a new phone for our extension. We already had a BT Big Button 200 as our main phone and are so pleased with it we bought another!
Nice big buttons – easy to see and use – and a speaker phone for convenience when needing to write down information. We are late 70s, early 80s and find this phone easy to use. Highly recommend it.
Got this for my grandparents when their landline packed in, and it is great!
Big buttons for easy dialling, volume control, hands free mode, it has a stand so it isn’t flat and it has space under the handset to write important numbers.
We need large-button corded phones for the senior people in the household.
Bought a cheaper unbranded one last week which didn’t even work. Bought these gems today – which do.
Solid, arrived all set up, just plug into the wall and pick a ringtone and volume to suit. Worked right out of the box, they even include batteries.
Proper “old school” solidly built quality telephones. Get them while they are still on sale, as our telecoms expert says they won’t be for much longer with the move to digital home phones.
I can’t comment on any of the other features as she doesn’t use them.
I bought this for my 90-year-old mother in law for use in the kitchen. One thing to note is that it will not wall-mount. I nearly sent it back because of this and I bought a Doro 311c to replace it. However, this one is so nice that we used it to additionally replace her 80’s museum-piece phone in the hall instead. Like the Doro, it has only a few functions but it is perfect for someone who has limited vision and no need of anything but a phone with a few memory functions. It has a loud ring and a clear speaker and is cheap as chips.
I love the handsfree calling because it is so simple to use, you just press the middle white button (located beneath the black numbered buttons) and dial as normal, if you made a call holding the reciever to your ear and are stuck hanging on, (like we often do while waiting for companies to answer the phone), you can just press that same white button and hang up and your call remains connected, only this time your hands are free to get on with what ever you need to do while listening out for a response. The volume is loud enough to be heard from the next room (if the doors are opened).
The ringer is in three volumes and in 3 different ring tones too. It also has a flashing light for those who have really poor hearing and it is compatible for anyone who has a Community Alarm System giving you an added alarm to your calls and making it audible from any area on your property, including the garden!
I highly recommend this phone to anyone who is penny pinching, because it is cheap and of a great quality. The only snag is you do still need to be near the phone when you talk to anyone on a handsfree setting. BT still haven’t solved that problem yet, but at least you can talk normally when up close.
UPDATE:
I gave up on this phone because the hands free was useless. Callers complaint that the sound was weak and echoed alot. I was just about to buy another phone when I came up with an idea. I asked my friend to call me, but this time I did not pick up the handset and pressed the handsfree button only. It seems to have cured the problem. I am not sure it has been mentioned in the manual (which I never read). So watch out for that problem.
I also changed the star rating to 5 after I fixed the problem.
This new model has an improved user-friendly design, and we find the 13-number memory to be invaluable.
