Good, they work, once they have had their initial 16 hour charge they are so simple to set up. Leaflet included does not contain full instructions, if you wish to progress further you need to download manual from BT web site!
I have only had this a day or two, so I’m still getting used to its features, but so far it seems to do what it should. Everything seems to work as it should, so hopefully I will have no trouble with it.
Context: I ordered this phone as the mobile phone coverage in my area can be quite poor & I found I was missing important calls from my GP, hospital etc.
Pros –
Very easy to set up. The instructions are step-by-step & very easy to understand.
Nice handset size & although it feels light, it’s certainly up to the job.
Nice buttons which aren’t too small & it’s easy to see the numbers with normal sight.
I have arthritis in my hands & fingers & I find this very easy to use.
I have mobility issues & as a result I’m unable to get to the phone quickly, this phone will happily sit on the side table (off its base) for a full day before I place it back in the cradle to charge overnight.
Cons –
The construction does feel very light but I haven’t had any problems with its performance.
You do need to leave it plugged in to the power socket for 16 hours before connecting it to the phone socket, I’m unsure if this is standard for landline phones but perhaps something to bear in mind.
Overall I’m very happy with this purchase.
Works well, has the features I needed. Only wee thing is you can’t hear the caller leaving the message when the answer machine is recording. Is useful when u haven’t reached the phone in time or for caller screening! Otherwise does the job.
A nice compact unit, even if it’s quite light weight but it’s a phone at the end of the day.!!
Read the instructions and you’ll be fine, once you understand how the buttons&base work you’ll be fine.
First thing – I Wish I could transfer my contacts from old phone or cell phone to this one, not possible, but not a deal breaker either, I will put them into my new BT phone when i have the time.
A bit limited regarding ring tones, only 4 or 5 to choose from and they could be better but it’s just a landline phone, as long as it rings, who cares.
I didn’t have to contact my ISP to set up my answer machine like the instructions suggest you might have to, I simply plugged it into the filter coming directly out of the box on the wall and set up handset, and bobs your uncle.
Any problems call the BT helpline, I’m sure they will help you sort it out. The number is on the instruction pamphlet.
I haven’t spoken to anyone on it yet, I still need to give everyone my number, but I called myself from my cell phone to check if it worked and it sounds clear an the answer machine works perfectly, great option to have for the price.
Would I buy again? “For the amount i use a landline” definitely yes.! Its light but does the job.
No problems, glad i have the second phone, it’s mostly for calling the Dr and other appointments which i sometimes have to wait on hold for ten minutes for them to answer and that costs me a fortune on my cell phone.! The calls on this will be much cheaper.
This is cheaper, landline to landline, light weight for those long calls.
Leave personalized answer message if that’s your thing.
And play back any messages when you get home from your built in answer machine.
All good for thirty something bucks.
Only wanted a cheap single handset with an answering machine to receive calls with. This phone does the job.
The sound isn’t great, but it’s okay if you are using the loudspeaker. In my experience, this is a common thing among housephones in this price range.
I haven’t used the phonebook or call blocking features yet so I cannot comment on how easy they are do use.
The choice of ring tones is pretty poor. There’s only a handful of choices, and they are all very similar (classic ring). Personally, I’m not bothered as I prefer the standard ring anyway.
Another thing is the play button for the answer machine lights up red. This might be a nuisance for some people as far as I know, it cannot be turned off. I quite like it though as the black phone / red light matches my living room colour scheme.
I’d recommend this phone for a single occupant household, or somebody on a budget who doesn’t mind using the phone’s loudspeaker when making/receiving a call. I would assume that it won’t be loud enough for the elderly, or hard of hearing. Then again, if that is you, you should be considering buying specialist phone as they are designed to be heard by people with hearing difficulties.
