Spot on so far. They’re actually waterproof. Tested them walking my dog through wet farmland’s on a wet /frozen winters day.We will see how they go. So far, so good tho.
For last one year or so, I was on a hunt for a comfortable shoe for walking around which is waterproof and good looking. Finally I found a good one which is 90% comfortable when compared to Adidas pure boost running shoe. This shoe is well padded and good grip.
I was impressed by the quality of these. They are my go to footwear this weather as they do not slip on wet leaves, the sole being flexible and grippy. They do not look out of place in any situation as well as being comfortable to wear for long periods, plus being waterproof.
1st time buying this brand but took a chance. Usually order a 9 instead of an 8 for walking boots and a 9 fitted perfectly. Lightweight, waterproof and kept my feet warm and dry even during this red warning storm! They don’t come too high over the ankle so don’t feel clumpy around town but would stand up to hiking too. So pleased with them that I just bought them in black too. Would recommend Columbia boots. Very happy with these boots.
My second pair of these Columbia shoes. They just work.
My only criticism is the laces. Shiny at first and easy to come undone. A couple of washes might help. Lose a star for that.
The heel of the shoe feels a little high compared to the front. It makes it comfortable to wear when hiking up but it can be noticible on even terrain. Overall looks and feels decent.
This is a good waterproof shoe. The only issue, and it’s a big one for me, is the laces keep slipping off and loosening, so that would be very annoying on a longer hike. They have no resistance against itself and against the smooth surface of the shoe.
I bought these for work I’m on my feet 8-10hrs a day and my logic was that if my normal hiking boots were good for the miles these would be too. They haven’t let me down yet so comfortable straight from the box and reamin so after many weeks of wearing. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.
Great pair of shoes, waterproof but the laces will NOT stay tied. Have tried all sorts of fancy knots and double bows from YouTube etc but they keep coming undone. Generally have to re-tie several times a day. Other than that, good shoes.
Great for walking in all conditions ,the best I have purchased
Bought a pair few years ago decided to get another pair. Good walking shoes well made.
Pleased with my purchase. Very comfortable to wear and walk in.
This is the 3rd pair of these shoes I have bought. Really hard wearing, and each pair has
lasted 2 years, in everyday use.
I now have 3 pairs of these. I find they are comfortable from the first time I put them on. They are a little initially a little close fitting but very quickly become extremely comfortable to wear all day. Definitely for colder weather as your feet will sweat if warm in warmer climates. Have worn these in wet winter conditions and my feet have stayed dry. Don’t expect the tread to last more than a few months if worn regularly but at this price point I’m happy with that.
These are fantastic walking shoes, really comfortable and waterproof with great grip. So good I ordered another pai
These were recommended by a friend of mine. Having tried his shoes I bought mine a half size larger than normal. They are very comfortable and doing well.
My friend tipped me off that the price varies so I got them at the lowest price.
Extremely durable: I run wearing these shoes, been using for last 2 months haven’t seen any sign of damage.
I have also used it for hiking, extremely comfortable.
I have done hiking in the rain, genuinely waterproof and keeps feet warm.
The only problem I have faced is with the shoe laces. They get untied quite often. Bit annoying especially on runs and hikes.
Seem slightly small, which might be the reason I’ve had the other problem – the lining hasn’t lasted. Got a pair early august, and the lining is starting to go. Probably done 1000km walking in them. 50% urban walking, 50% countryside. Good, but will look elsewhere for my next pair.
The shoes and original laces are good, but when they break (they’re hiking boots, they’ll get worn), Columbia have no way to obtain replacement laces, which is ridiculous, it’s a consumable part of the shoe. I just got off the phone with them and they said I have to buy laces elsewhere, how bizarre.
Comfortable but laces let them down, I find them thin and always coming undone.
I’ve worn these most days for about four months now, mainly dog walking 2-5 miles over flat ground. They gave me a toe blister first time out but after a short break and wearing with extra socks they were fine. I was thinking these are 5* and am generally happy with them so far but have found they can be slippy in certain conditions, so one mark off.
It is a really comfortable shoe. I bought as a waterproof but it is definitely not a waterproof shoe. If i could return it , would be great but i was wearing so don’t expect as a 100% waterproof!
Shoes are comfortable and fit well but they look like they are made of plastic. If they have plastic coating as waterproofing as some other buyers of this product review images appear to show the shoes would be better without the waterproof coating and we could just protect them with products for walking shoes. The look like they are made of plastic and for 70 I would expect better.
Great pair of walking shoes.
Not the best looking shoes in terms of appearance, but the sole is solid. I’m a hiker/walker and I’ve been using them daily for almost a year. There’s hardly any wear and tear on the sole.
The shoes had 3 conflicting sizes which each corresponded to a different one that what is written on the shoes. i.e. UK size corresponds to a lower European size rather than what it’s really is. Also they are not very breathable as advertised and made my feet very sweaty after only few hours of wearing them.
Shoe-buying is perhaps the only thing I’m still hesitant about buying direct from a website. There’s a bewildering amount of choice and ratings are often far from brilliant. I’ve been wanting to buy a new lightweight pair of walking shoes that I can easily stick in a suitcase for some time but had struggled to find anything suitable (not helped by being a size 6).
Many of the walking shoes on offer are essentially glorified trainers with a waterproof lining. This Columbia model feels much more like a proper boot, with a harder shell. Despite this I found them to be instantly comfortable, with a thick cushioned sole providing good protection on stony ground. They are standard or even slightly narrow fitting, which I feared would be a problem, but actually the shape moulded around my feet really well and they didn’t feel tight (they would probably not suit anyone with protrusions such as a bunion though). With a double knot there seemed to be little risk of the laces coming undone. The waterproofing has not yet been tested.
The colour options available are all rather sombre: I plumped for cinnamon which is an indeterminate very dark green/grey/brown. The may look a bit odd worn with light coloured shorts on a summer’s day but are undeniably practical.
Overall I’m really happy with this purchase and glad to have taken the online plunge.
I wouldn’t normally buy shoes over the internet but as we all know today’s circumstances dictate somewhat. I like to try shoes on before I buy as I have moderately wide feet. However I needed new walking shoes so I had to buy some from somewhere. As usual Amazon are the easiest to buy from, being very careful to make sure anything I buy of any value is “free returns” as I’ve been caught by that before with expensive postage.
The shoes: I am so impressed, I was very worried they wouldn’t be comfortable until they had been worn in for a bit. We walk around 5 miles everyday with our dog and it’s important to have comfy shoes. I needn’t have worried at all, as soon as I put them on it was clear the shoes would be fine. I wore them around the house for a short while and an hour later went out for our walk which takes us on pavement, uneven woodland paths and some slippery muddy areas. I’m pleased these shoes coped with all terranes and were very grippy, even on some icy parts of the pavements. After almost an hours walking I realised these shoes were like shoes I’d been wearing for months, no pain, no rubbing of toes, heal or ankle.
I can’t say how their longevity will be as I’ve only had these a week but all is well so far but time will tell.
I highly recommend these. I bought these in brown because the black one’s were 10 dearer for some reason but when they are for walking the dog who cares?
I’ve been searching for a decent pair of walking shoes for what seems like an eternity! Having tried various brands to no avail and cheaper options that perished far too quickly, I decided that, “you get what you pay for” and purchased a more expensive option. As soon as I took them out of the box, I could see the build quality was very good. Trying them on for the first time, they fitted almost perfectly and felt incredibly comfortable, as if alread worn in! So far, so good. I have been walking to and from work (a mile each way) for just over a week now and they are very comfortable. I cannot speak for the waterproofing as yet, or their longevity (having had other brands that began to perish after only a few months, this is something I will be very interested in observing). I will come back to this review and update it once I have greater experience of their build quality. The only negative I have noticed (and as another reviewer commented), the laces do tend to come loose. Maybe I need to learn to tie them in a reef knot instead! At the moment, top marks, but we’ll see how they do after a greater period of time and use and I will update this review accordingly.
Update 23 January 2021: Well, I’ve had these over a year now and they have held up well, looking barely worn since I removed them from the box. The undersole has also held up well (though slightly more worn on my right foot due to my walking style). They are just as comfortable and have also provided waterproofing during some heavy rain. Laces have to be double knotted to keep them tied, although even then, after a while become loose. It’s a small gripe considering the quality of these shoes. So after a year in, I can still highly recommend these walkers (first 3 photos are after a years use).
Update 15 February 2022: 2 years later these are still in great condition and just as comforable. I would certainly purchase a replacement if and when they are required. Highly recommended!
Update 8 February 2023: 3 years in and still going strong, only negative is the stitching has come lose at the front slightly on the right shoe (photos added). Though they are still in good shape all round especially when considering I wear these every day. I’ve noticed how much the price has boosted since I bought these in 2020, I paid 57 and they’re now 87, which is a around a 50% increase for the same item!
