Brought this and I can honestly say it works a little to well with this -5 weather we’ve had recently no heating in room it has changed my life I can honestly say turn it down to 1 after preheating or you will cook I awoke after a short time after leaving it on full and was wet with sweat but it takes ages to go cold worth every penny even after a recent car accident it soothes all you aches away
Got this just before Christmas for the winter as we were told that Electric Blankets are more energy effiicient throughout the winter. This one warms up well, and quickly too! And does exactly what it says on the tin!
Well made
Good size for my standard single bed
Comes with good tie down tapes
Minus:
Takes a while to heat up, gets to full level 3 after maybe 30 minutes. I think it is intended to be left on warm (level 1 or 2) for an extended time, rather than a short hot blas
Easy to fit onto the mattress, very comfortable and it’s so nice getting into an evenly warmed up bed now in these colder days. I have it on every night at the moment.
Feels like you need to be pressing down upon it (I myself use a weighted blanket) for it to truly activate, can get VERY cosy once you leave it for 30 minutes though.
As others have mentioned, the lateral ties are too short. Covers the whole mattress so warms right down to your feet. I’m rather aware of the wires in it when lying on it.
Great heat pad that works effectively. The only downside is that the ribbons were tricky to get around the mattress and the one that went down the length wasn’t long enough to reach the end of a standard single mattress.
What did we ever do without underblankets?
It beats hot water bottles hands down.
It was slightly troublesome to fit because we have an exceptionally deep mattress and the straps only just reached the loops on the sides so another 3 inches of tape would have helped. We had to add an extra foot or so of cotton tape for the bottom to top strap for it to reach the top loop.
It would be nicer if the heating elements could reach the sides and foot of the mattress as the extreme couple of inches of the bed stayed cold but the overall pleasure of getting into warmed sandwich is bliss.
We have been putting it on the highest setting (3) for an hour or so before going to bed and turn it off once settled because it was too warm for us to sleep when it was left on the highest setting even when it was minus 3C outside!
A quick calculation on the 80 Watt rating means you could have it on full power for 12.5 hours and it will consume 1kWh of energy which currently costs about 50p in the UK which is about 4p per hour and its worth every penny.
– Has a quality certification which is encouraging (CE and UKCA)
– Corded remote is easy to use
– Highest setting is powerful and comfy (although it takes time to heat up)
– 70w rated power, so 0.07kW * 0.34p /kWh * 8 hours * 30 days = under 6 a month to run at the absolute max power blasting all night
Cons
– It doesn’t fully cover the stated bed size – leaves off a strip at the base, so my feet aren’t warmed
– Doesn’t have a timer functionality, so can’t set to eg go off after an hour when going to sleep
– I had trouble securing it with the straps, it’s moved around a bit so need to repositio
