I bough this on offer for 22. What a bargain! Works a treat and comes with loads of connectors and covers for them. Very happy.
It worked perfectly first time.
I like the feel of how it squeezes so you can tell how much you’re closing the handles down.
You can see clearly how it works whens in use.
The assortment set is great.
Very useful tool to keep around even if you’re not an electrician. It got me out of a electrical problem with a corroded wire, allowing me to repair like for like.
It out performed another clamp system i had as this method is better in my opinion. The grab strength and connection on the wire to ends is high giving peace of mind.
I was expecting the covers to be heatshrink but they are not. Its no big deal as they fit snuggly and i have spare anyway.
I like it comes in its own carry case with space for the consumable ends.
Ill keep using this and recommend it.
I used (wasted lol) about 4 crimps before I sussed out how to use it. You just need to bend the crimp over slightly by hand before crushing it it it doesn’t seem to work but once your done that it makes a superb job.
Everyone should have one of these if you tinker a bit.
Excellent product exactly what I needed for the job I purchased it fo
Been using this tool for a while now, no complaints at all, does a great job.
Does the job well what it’s suppose to . A small learning curve for me . You have to press it well for the ratchet to release . Great product . Very pleased to have this tool in my armamentarium !
Purchased with the sole intention of crimping connections on motorcycle wiring. Having purchased a couple of inferior cheaper ones, this tool made the job a breeze. The jaws hold the terminal securely whilst you insert your wire and provide a nice clean crimp. Has a few different settings available depending on the wire gauge you are working with. The ratchet mechanism also ensures you don’t overdo it, resulting in a tidy, secure connection. Good build quality gives me the impression that this tool should last a very long time.
The quality of the tool, the case and lots of connectors makes this a good deal in my opinion. Wish i’d have picked this up first rather than try to save a couple of quid.
includes good crimpers but the connector spades etc are a bit light, still good enough and if it’s light wiring your doing it’s fine but connectors are not for 230 volt wiring etc so don’t use on anything requiring high wattage.
Did the job. Ratchet is a pain. Kept locking up even when fully depressed so I disabled it for better control over the crimping I was doing. Happy with it. Crimp fittings are a little cheap and flimsy though. Easily buy more. Happy with its use so far.
Easy enough to use even without proper crimping tool, I use small nose pliers to crimp the tabs over. Much slower but works.
Connector are reasonable quality, none have broken on me while fitting. Sleeves are good fit and decently tight to hold once in place but not so tight they are hard to fit.
The only thing which irritated me was the storage tray; the dividers just slip into place and aren’t fixed. So when it slipped a bit – only the inches – onto the floor from my leg the jolly made all the connectors slip under the dividers and mix up. I’ll probably glue them in at some point.
I’m not a lover of crimped electrical connections, I’ve always preferred soldering. And those coloured nibbed up type connectors have always seemed an abomination to me. But these pliers….once you get the hang of them (the instructions seemed a bit inadequate, but then like most blokes I’m inclined to do rather than read), do a professional looking job on joining any crimped connector of similar type, be they bullet or spade ended. And you can always solder after you’ve crimped if the fancy takes you. In fact I’m rather pleased with my pliers so far, time will tell though, about durability. I consider them a bargain at the price.
Well I was expecting some cheap flimsy crimping tool for the price, but instead i was nicely surprised when I opened the box to find a well packaged kit and a very decently made, very robust crimper! (I’ve had some shockingly poor ones in the past!) It is very effective at its job and when done correctly offers an incredibly strong and tight crimp. Comes with a good selection of terminals of various sizes and silicone sheaths.
So overall a very good quality kit for the price!
Definitely does the job, though it’s a little fiddly to use. It’s best if you slightly close the connectors before putting them in to the tool. Other than that, works great and does the job.
Bought this to put some end connectors back on a couple of wires I’d cut off whilst repairing a lawn mower switch. Was extremely easy to use and everything worked perfectly once I’d reconnected everything up. For the price it’s extremely good value – comes with plenty of connectors and protective casings and the build quality of the crimping tool is very good. May not be up to the quality a ‘professional’ would use but for me who it was an ideal set to do what I needed to and having in the garage if I ever need to do something similar again.
Decent feeling crimping tool, took a while to figure out how to use the thing (youtube was required) but once learned fairly simple. Seems to bend the crimps incorrectly about 1 in 10 times which isn’t too horrendous – important to check you have the correct slot too!
I lost my crimp pliers so I bought these, very good price, however they do not look as heavy duty as my old ones, and being smaller are not as easy to use, apart from that very good for the price, and they will probably last a long time if not used every day.
The Tool is a well made sturdy bit of kit , fiddly at first when you try to find the right slot and direction to load connector. Once you work it out then its quick / easy and very secure.
The Connectors supplied are of good quality and the plastic clear insulated covers are soft enough to be flexible to slide over the connector once sealed, but secure enough not to slip down the cable.
Good Value Produc
Great tool, much better than twisting wires together and wrapping them in tape! Really quick to use as well, the pliers are ratcheted so you can grip the connector lightly before inserting the wire and squeezing down, miles better than the crimping tool on wire stripping pliers. Makes for a much more professional and satisfying job. The connectors also fit really well and click together, so they won’t come undone accidentally. They also fit perfectly on other connectors not from this set. Wish I had bought a tool like this years ago! Currently going round adding in these connectors to my old projects where I can..
Don’t usually buy offshore tools from Amazon but the Western version that I believe these are modelled of was 200 pounds at a shop near me. I read the reviews and had to try them. These are brilliant. I’ve used awful crimp tools and know how bad an expensive it is doing a connection several times to get it right but these nail it. Ridiculous how they are 18 quid. Will recommend them 100%. Just replaced a really awkward terminal on my trucks oil pressure sensor, but being able hold the terminal in the tool without it moving, then ratchet crimping made it a one handed operation.
Used for the first time today. I found it quite fiddly at first to get the connector into the tool. I found putting the connector into the tool and squeezing the handle until the tool gripped it, then inserting the wire worked well. I did find it didn’t crimp the smallest of the connectors quite right, it didn’t roll the metal as expected each time. It could be me but it did make sturdy connections onto the wires. Not a bad tool for the money though.
I was, a long time ago an electronic engineer and used crimping tools all the time.
This looked good from the photo and to be fair it is well built and works well. But. It has a rather wide set of jaws so it is easy to damage the crimp.
It takes a bit of practice to use. What I dont like is that it has a ratchet system which wont release until you have gone through the whole squeeze. Which removes human finesse.
I purchased this set as I didn’t want to spend a lot for such a small job I needed to complete. It was as described the only thing that let me down a little was the tool itself as the crimps would not close evenly without assistance from a small screwdriver and such the connections worked but where not as neat as a more expensive set would have done. Not disappointed because of the value for money.
I had tried using various crimpers to crimp the pins on Deutsch D6 connectors, and even had to resort to soldering and crimping with my other crimpers without much success. On pulling the wire through my vehicle I pulled one of the pins off. So onto Amazon and found these, next day delivery and I went about trying them out on the Deutsch pins, all I can say is WOW they are terrific lovely tight crimps ! They feel really good and strong in the hand and you can see just how sturdily they are built. They came in a nice box together with a great selection of terminals and sleeves. They are a must have in any budding vehicle electronics tool cabinet. No hesitation in recommending these, you will not be disappointed 🙂
I brought these to replace the manual set that I use to make wiring harnesses for arcade joysticks.
I have always used the manual ones as I have never found a good ratcheting set until now!
These crimped the 2mm connectors I use perfectly and with only one operation doing both parts of the crimping process I have halved my workload!
I have not tried them on the larger sizes as I tend to use the coloured insulated crimps for mains wiring but I have no doubt they would perform just as well.
The handles are comfy, the mechanism is smooth and efficient overall good crimpers for the money.
I bought this after years of not using any kind of tool i normally use pliers and such and half the time the connections on the wires would fall off or break but i thought, Hey lets buy this and give it a try the worst that could happen is the pliers being no good quality, but this tool is amazing and so sturdy, the instructions are very easy to follow and the booklet contains pictures, if you want to give this a go but scared you won’t be able to do it, trust me buy this because when i run out of connections i can buy the right size and on the pliers it gives the sizes of which bit goes in where which is super handy 🙂
This is a great set, at a great price. I needed to connect some wires for an electronics project and the usual block connectors were too big for my requirements. I looked around and decided to try these crimpers.
First off they have a decent weight and feel sturdy, so Im hopefull they will last. The slots are clearly marked. The tool locks itself if you part squeeze the handle to just off the maximum and then release.
Second the set comes with loads of connectors and better still insulating sleeves which were valuable for my project.
The set comes with clear instructions in lots of languages and I simply followed them and the results in the photos speak for themselves.
I tested the connection by pulling the wire very hard. It was going no where.
The final job looks very neat, professional and more importantly safe.
