Easy setup and use with eagle app

Even though instructions aren’t the clearest as they miss a few steps

    Good overall

After recently moving house, my old router was just not powerful enough to reach my home office upstairs, I looked into a number of solutions, extenders, wiring up, but going for mesh seemed liked a happy medium, as I wanted the whole house to be on the same network.

I looked at a few brands and as I have a D-Link usb hub in my office, which has been a worthy servant, and despite being a trusting soul, I also liked the made in Taiwan moniker, I chose the M32-3.

I purchased the m32-3 on deal, I have the two nodes at opposite ends of the ground floor and one upstairs. On testing the speed, got very little drop off between the 3 nodes, the one upstairs was at 65mbps and the two downstairs 66mbps.

    Gripes –
Installing via the Eagle App was simple, but I would suggest they could do with adding more advanced controls in the app and I’m not used to having only 2 wired ports on the back, but I’ll just pick up a 5 port switch.

Purchased this unit because my sister-in-law was getting buffering on her TV. For some reason, her internet connection was upstairs in the loft and the wireless was struggling to provide a fast, stable wireless signal through two floors in her house.

The setup process was really simple, connect the main device to the Virgin box using the ethernet cable provided, download the app and power it on and follow the instructions. THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK 5 MINS FROM START TO FINISH. The signal was so much better than the original Virgin box, so now the TV doesn’t buffer anymore and the 250Mbps connection she has is available throughout the house. The biggest challenge was moving everything over to the new SSID. Great product definitely recommend it to my friends.

Really easy to setup and performance is grea

Purchased to fix poor WiFi performance from aging Virgin hub.
Straightforward installation and easy management through browser or App. Easy to identify any unwanted WiFi visitors.
Runs behind VM hub – choice of hub in Modem or router mode.
Can tether phone to D-Link router should VM connection fail.
Being able to shut off LEDs is a good feature.
May move VM hub or D-link later to spread WiFi coverage.

I’ve bought three of these recently so I guess I must think it is OK. Mainly because it is easy to install OpenWRT and I get good throughput with connected devices. Hard to review the manufacturers firmware as I never use it.

I was worried adding a new router to my wi-fi set up would be hard, but I was far from wrong. The Eagle Pro App walks you through the process and we were online in minutes. The router looks great, and has boosted our signal no end. Now I am browsing D-Link’s other products to see what great stuff they sell! Would recommend!

I had issues with WiFi dropping when on video calls, I have other Dlink products so went for what I know and I am not disappointed

I was up and running in minutes and now have clear WiFi throughout the house.

    Would 100% recommend

Due to some unexpected child related damage to my old router I needed a quick replacement. I opted for a Dlink product as i have Dlink cameras and WiFi extenders around the house so it made sense to stick with the brand. Premium feel / good price. The AX1500 was up and running in no time at all. EAGLE App downloaded, plugged in, QR scanned and running in around 10 mins. Very pleased thus far. one bonus feature I didn’t have before was the Google assistant integration, not 100% sure how often I will use this on a router but will update when I finally use it!.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAfter struggling with my old plusnet router for so long, I picked up the latest stuff magazine and saw a feature on the new D-Link AI range. Doing some research on Amazon put this product at the same price as most other AX1500 routers, so I purchased this one as the white design looks nice and the added AI seemed to be a nice bonus.

So far so good! I have seen a good increase particularly in latency on my ps5 and uploading. The signal covers my flat well and the TV gets a good signal in the bedroom, which is the furthest point away. The GUI looks a little dated, but its very easy to use, so I set up QoS on the router, so that my work laptop gets priority of bandwidth!

All in all seems a good product at a great price – v, impressed so fa

Good replacement WiFi access point to use with Virgin Media Superhub 3 which delivers notoriously poor WiFi speeds due to a chipset bug.

Uses Dynamic Frequency Selection if you switch it on, which will give you a totally clear 5GHz channel.

Nice user interface, sturdy build, decent WiFi speeds – we get 300Mb/s throughout our terrace house.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a review of the DIR 882 (as so many reviews seem to be against the wrong products now)

As so many reviews and this is an older router now, will save my typing and your reading. This is replacing a Tenda AC15 – the one that the many will still be using with huge security flaws unless they have updated the firmware

    For my the standouts are:

= Relatively easy to set up but limited option
+ no known flaws and I can’t believe D-Link would leave such huge vulnerabilities as Tenda did, and for so long after being raised to them – the reason I didn’t buy a replacement Tenda
+ Good port forwarding / virtual server – just why does it need to differentiate the two types?
    + stable so far

    – VPN is very basic, the Tenda was better
    – DLNA is more reliable than the Tenda but again is so basic there is no way to designate a start folder so anything in the attached USB is shown to all DLNA users!
    – USB 3 is stuck out the front, not back like the USB2, but the USB 2 doesn’t have the power to run my portable drive
    – Poor design as either waste lots of desk space or put on wall – no stand for it.
    – Bugs in the users passwords – corrupting the passwords when saved with a part password from another entry
    – Even though older / lower ‘power’, the old Tenda (now using as an Access point) has a far stronger signal than the D-Link
    – shame that a new unit still had such an old firmware on it (1.1 vs current 1.3)
    – unable to reserve an IP address outside of the DHCP range which I was able to do on the Tenda.
    – no option to block connection by MAC address (to stop a device connecting that you don’t want) and the D-Link alternative to use Parental Control is poor!
    – not so great reporting of usage – just a summary and not what individual connected clients are doing

Well would have given it 5 stars, there’s always a but, spent an hour setting it up, has a virgin media hub3.
Simple straight forward instructions but could not get it to connect to the Internet, could connect devices to the WiFi signal from the D-link, but no Internet connection.
I would have been pulling my hair out if I had any.
After checking and rechecking, the last thing I tried was the supplied Cat cable from the D-link to virgin media hub.
Replaced it with another known good cable and BINGO, connected straight away!

So if you have having trouble with Internet connect, try changing the supplied Cat cable, faulty out of the box.

The only other issue I had after that if anyone using a virgin media hub3, the instructions for my connection stated leave the cat cable from the back of the VM Tivo box connected to the Hub3.
If you do that, the Timothy won’t connect to the Internet, plug the Tivo cat cable into the D-link.

So we have a good strong signal, better than the VM Hub 3, just let down by the faulty cable.

Good signal buy faulty supplied Cat Cable!

Bought this to replace old Netgear router. It’s used by about 30 people all day and seems fast and stable even from 50m away and through concrete walls. Easy to install and I have not needed any technical support.

At less that 60 it’s a great option to replace an older router (or in my case a VM hub). Great signal around the house but it took me a bit of fiddling with the settings.

The big negative for me was the ‘smart connect’ option in the settings interface. I was confused as to why only the 5ghz band was being broadcast when this is a dual band router (5ghz doesn’t have the best penetration so any kind of wall reduces the signal drastically). Found the smart connect option literally just broadcasts on 5ghz only. Turning this off gave me both bands and my devices around the house now all connect easily on either 2.4ghz at range or 5ghz closer.

This works. It’s super fast, super reliable and I’ve had no problems with it now in over 6 months. It’s worth it just so the kids don’t think it’s the end of the world every 10 minutes when Instatube buffers.

I decided to put my Virgin Superhub in modem mode and then use this D-Link as the main router. I have not experienced any disconnection or Wi-Fi signal drop issues so so far so good. I would say I live in a medium-sized property and the Wi-Fi signal at the far end rooms are quite weak but in the Attic The 5ghz signal is very strong. Having said that, I have only placed the router in the middle shelf under the tv (so not the best location). So far so good

    Fabulous router. Fabulous price.
I had been trying to increase the WiFi signal upstairs as it was pretty bad. Messed about with numerous older routers with very little success. Saw this dlink router and gave it a crack. Just totally amazed. Set this up as an access point and it truly performs.
On the 2.4ghz I’m getting speeds of around 50 – 70meg and on the 5.ghz well over a 100meg. Some rewiews mention poor WiFi signal, but for me a very good investment.
Happy as Larry. Wish I’d found it sooner.

After suffering with the excuse of a router you get with VM, this router is like the big daddy, and at a good price. Since setting up (which was easy) had no drop outs, super fast connection on all our devices (over 10 in our house incl. Hive and Alexa) Had it 2 weeks now, and wish I’d got one years ago! Best thing you will ever do is turn your VM hub into a modem and say hello to fast wifi 😀

Before this router I was getting 60 mbps wifi speeds with virgin’s 200mbps package, now I’m getting 190 mbps, sometimes even over 200! It did everything I asked for. Great router. And I’m not dropping out of games unexpectedly like I was using the Virgin Hub.

I’ve had a few routers over the years and so far this one is probably the best that I’ve employed. Coverage appears good in a difficult (large ish Victorian house). Set up is fairly easy, but some features are buried in the advanced sections. I’ve used their technical support too . Their knowledge is good I’d say but not perfect. However they have been very supportive of attempting to resolve one or two specific features (unusual) that I wished to employ. At this price it certainly gets my recommendation.

I live in a house with really solid walls, loads of wireless devices and my ISP (a UK service provider that starts with ‘S’ and ends with ‘Y’).

The ISP router was cheaper, very cheap and failed to get the job done, then spent money on repeaters, power-line adaptors and really long ether cables in order to setup my network (hundreds of ).

I purchased this to use as a wireless router for my devices, I can now say I have remove the power-line adaptors and Ethernet cables from my setup. This works a treat due to MU-MIMO.

Good router and easy to setup. Gives a better signal than the Hub 3 that comes from Virgin. The stock firmware used to configure the router is easy to setup and a decent amount of options, although it lacks features if you’re more technically inclined and want greater control. On the plus side this router is compatible with DD-WRT and works very well with it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve been using this router exclusively over the last three months for connecting wireless devices to my home network and have found this device is capable of handling 4 devices streaming 4k video with no issues. I am yet to test the stability of both wired and wireless devices but I’m reasonably confident it should be able to handle 5 devices at the same time.

Usual wireless transfer rate is 28-30mb/s.

Also, a nice added bonus to have the option of a guest network that comes in handy when visitors stay over for a few days.

I had a Virgin Media Hub which was dropping out and speed was variable. Found myself constantly checking broadband speed to see if it was slowing down. Decided to buy another router and use the VM hub in modem mode. Very please with this router because I now get near top speed and drop outs has stopped. I can also plug in a HDD to it. I no longer check my broadband speed all the time which is how it should be 🙂

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe router access point combo allows for easy setup and has an extensive array of features. This includes 4 separate SSIS’s 2x 5 GHz 2x 2.4 GHz. The wireless encryption settings do not give an option however, so I assume they default to the most secure as of now (WPA2 PSK).

The GUI on the web setup and on the app was clean and ‘intuitive’. Raising the router slightly had a huge beneficial impact on the range.

    Tips:
-To make an SSID open you just have to remove all the characters in the password.
-I made the mistake of not pushing the Ethernet cable the whole way in during testing. The port was tight (this is always a pro).
-For initial setup if you want more granular control, do not connect it to the modem immediately. Otherwise it will automatically pass-through the modems setup

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersReview is for DIR-878 AC1900 Version.

So I’m a fan of DLINK gear. Full disclosure – used to work for them some 10 years back, so I know they’re generally good quality and I know how the technology works. However, although the router on the surface seems to offer lightning quick speeds and really strong coverage, there are some significant flaws with this particular router that can catch you out.
*Update* – I have now fixed the issues with the help of DLINK support. the issue related to a corrupt QoS buffer, which was throttling the bandwidth throughput. so I have now upgraded the review appropriately. However, turning on any QOS still causes significant throttling across the router.

    GOOD:
    – Really fast speeds and strong coverage: better than my older Plusnet HubOne/BT Homehub 6.
    – good value for the price
    – easy to set up, and the UI has been made very simple if you”re not too technically minded
    – DLink are always decent quality products & do last well. Still using my previous routers from the last decade!

    BAD:
    – PS4 won’t connect: you need to upgrade the firmware (Ok as of firmware 1.12, I can confirm)
    – too simplified for some looking for a more technical configuration capability – DLINK has dumbed down the interface and feature content a bit too much. Whilst it’s now easy to set up, it’s not got half the flexibility or functionality of older routers in their range. Plus, for those features it does have (eg VLAN, EasyVPN) it doesn’t do a good job of explaining how to set them up and use them
    – doesn’t have DLNA or USB support – so it’s worth paying the bit extra for the AC2600 version.

    UGLY:
    – On my router, some client devices have their throughput throttled because of the QOS feature. This was down to an issue with starting to use the QoS feature. DLink support helped me to fix it, but it wasn’t easy. and it reoccurred as soon as I datafilled the QoS again. So IMHO I would NOT touch the QoS feature on this router, if you do make sure you do a bandwidth speed test on the devices attached to it to make sure you don’t have throttling issues (you can do this by typing “speed test” into Google).
The problem was this: On some of my older tablets & some phones, the throughput is limited to less than10Mbps on 5GHz bands, and less than 2Mbps on 2.4GHz bands.. i thought this may be an issue with the devices, but they are fine on the other routers and get full throughput, even on 802.11ac – so somehow this router is throttling throughput on them, I don’t know why. It’s as if it is applying some form of auto-QOS on certain devices.

Summary – decent router for the price (les than sixty quid) if you need a basic but high speed functionality. Reliable and easy to set up. But over-simplified functions for the more technical minded, and worth paying a bit extra for the AC2600 version.

I brought this to replace my EE bright box router, I’ve recently invested in mesh wi-fi so figured a more significant router would be worth investing in and would provide a better and faster wireless speed. I’ve definitely seen a noticeable jump in DL/UL speeds since getting it up and running and was also surprised at how compact the router is (looks a fair bit bigger in the picture). It also seems to work seamlessly with the mesh units.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs i am currently a standard EE router, anything would be an upgrade but i wanted something that would really deliver the goods.

We stream a lot of music and TV so looking at a variety of reviews this seemed to be a great option for the money. I have put my trust in Dlink products before so i figured the DIR-882 was a safe bet. Thankfully so, up and running within minutes and a noticeable uptick in my home wifi performance. I really don’t think you can ask for much more for the money…

Why doesn’t the router have an AC adapter with a decently long power cable? Many routers are installed a fair distance away from the power socket, and the 1m cable is really not sufficient. So I had to spend money on an AC extension cord. Apart from that, has been a good product.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersD Link DIR-882 AC2600 EXO MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router

I want to give this 5-stars.

First found a review on SmallNetBuilder and it scored pretty well.
The last TPLink Router I bought from their recommendation has been an absolutely solid purchase.

Although I do get great broadband speeds most of the time (over 200Mbps for an up to 200Mbps — VM broadband), it still doesn’t quite touch the performance of the TPLink — (usually 212Mbps).

Most annoying — I’ve updated the WiFi password to my own and sometimes my iPhone 6+ won’t connect, reporting the wrong password.
Yet if I try 2 or 3 more times, it then connects!
I haven’t done much testing to see if it’s just my phone, or the router, but I don’t get that problem on any other router — anywhere — work, home, friends, etc.

Range seems pretty good, as it’s in a foil insulated shed/gym and when tested with Speedtest it’s usually as fast as it can go.

The power lead was much shorter than expected, about a metre. I presume most people will position it next to a power output.
This model doesn’t have removable antenna’s; however, they can be positioned in almost any direction / rotation desired.

The 4 main green led’s on the front aren’t blindingly bright, but can be seen easily enough in daytime and aren’t too intrusive when dark.

Overall, I’d recommend a solid Buy!
There aren’t many devices out there to push this router to it’s limit.
