Works really well, nice & clear & precise. Was disappointed to start with until I realised there was a printed film over the screen. Reading the reviews, I’m not the only twat out there!
Love these. You can buy them in many colours. I already had a green one to match my green ukelele and now have a blue one to match my blue ukelele. 🙂
Works perfectly and now I don’t need to find any batteries, it charges fairly fast and the charge lasts a long time. I can highly recommend this product for at home practise. It will struglle in a live enviornment as it does pick up other noise.
So handy to have the tuner on the guitar. I don’t know why I haven’t done it before. I don’t know if this one is better than the rest, but it works well, at a reasonable price. That’s all you can ask.
I got this in lieu of a proper tuning pedal for gigs – I know I’d leave it at the venue so just pop this on my headstock before a set and boom!
Works great, accurate and easy to read
I didn’t order a rechargeable device but that’s what I received, in the wrong box with no instructions and no charging cable. It works though. Very responsive with a clear display. Performance wise it’s a great device, I would have preferred the battery version though, as my experience with small Chinese made electronics would suggest this battery or the charging circuit won’t last, but I’ll have to wait and see. Also, there is no battery charge status as in I have no idea how much charge is left, and it doesn’t tell you when it’s finished charging, the display continues to flash.
Bought this tuner because the app I had used on my phone stopped working and I wish I’d bought it years ago. It just works and very well. The display is clear and the rate at which you approach being in tune is just right so that there’s no messing about.
Highly recommended especially at this price.
I use this tuner on an ESP LTD M400 which doesn’t have a very large headstock the tuner fitted perfectly on the very tip and worked well in that position.
Unless I’m attaching this wrong (and it’s not the first tuner I’ve used!), this is a bit of a faff to clip to the headstock, tune the guitar and see the little screen all at the same time – it seems to point off at a funny angle, there’s not enough articulation in the joint to see it easily.
Tunes all my guitars… Electric, bass and acoustic. Now let me tell you about how stupid I am… Couldn’t get it to work at first and nothing was changing on the screen – was annoyed and was going to send it back. Turns out I hadn’t removed the printed sticker from the face.
it has good viewing angles, and while I dont mess with alt tunings bc I’m a beginner I dont see why there would be any issues with alt tunings. it looks pretty good and its easy to understand. came with a battery. only slight quirk I see is you need to hold the power button to turn it off/ on, which isn’t a problem just something to know because if you just press the button it’ll act weird
Works very well on both guitar and bass, even when you drop to A on a 5-string bass. It struggles in loud environments though, so I would go with a pedal tuner if you’re gigging.
This product is absolutely fantastic. I’ve used other tuners before, but none compare to this. The added bonus is that it is quite cheap. I would definately recommend this product to everyone.
Clipped it onto the Headstock and pushed the button, it picks up each string every time and has a good accuracy to ite when compared to phone based tuner apps. I love it, it’s sat right there on the guitar without having to fumble around looking for a tuner or my phone and waiting for the app to load. Get one, totally worth the price and you can’t go wrong with D’darrio equipme
I saw reviews that said it’s hard to read the display. That was true, but I replaced the battery immediately with a branded battery and it seems fine. I know it occasionally flashes up the wrong note-name, but then all the tuners I’ve had in this range do that: you just need to wait a second and it clears and the right name comes up. It also helps if you damp out all the strings except the one you want to tune. I’ve never tried the very expensive tuners so can’t compare with those, but this false-name issue seems quite irrelevant to me. I’m very pleased with the accuracy of the actual intonation and the speed: maybe it has some electronic damper to cut out low-volume overtones. It certainly settles on the note very accurately and very quickly compared to all others I’ve tried. For the money I think it’s excellent.
There is a reason its the number 1 seller on Amazon. Its a 5 star product and the best there is.
1. Tunes fast
2. accurate (as reported by reviews).
3. Intuitive and very easy to use (i find reading manuals an insult so never read them).
4. Very colourful Vibrant screen
5. Great price.
6. Can move in any direction for lefty and right guitars
I dithered between a few expensive makes and so glad that I went for the D’ADDARIO – A no brainer recommendation and purchase ………..
Not amazingly easy to use as I think the arrows change colour for extra accuracy, which is quite difficult in practice.
However, the fact it is vibration rather than audio-based is extremely helpful when you are nearby a drummer.
This tuner seems to work well when I tune my guitar, however, whenever I attempt to tune the high E string the tuner struggles. Even if I drop the tuning down a half or whole step it struggles to perfectly tune the highest string. Obviously, using the 5th fret of the B string to tune e is fine, but the tuner is certainly less accurate with that string.
Overall, it’s a good tuner, but not perfect.
Colorful, easy to read segmented display with a very cool runway effect when powering up or down, I love that it’s just a straight chromatic tuner – no accidently nudging it into pointless violin or banjo modes, the master tune frequency is clearly displayed as well and can be easily adjusted with the up and down arrows.
The game changer for me is being able to rotate the display so I can always read it in an upright position – I’ve used it on my 4 and 5 string basses, plus my upright bass – the display is always upright, easy to read and well calibrated – it’s not skittishly jumping around trying to micro read the pitch for every nanosecond the string is vibrating, it will allow you to get near to the target pitch and nudge gently to target, critical for fast onstage tuning.
This is my second clip on tuner in about seven years or so and it seems that they’ve really thought out the important things such as readability and adjustment, the only thing I’d really like to see on tuning gadgets like these is usb charging, otherwise I’d say this clip on even outshines my expensive digital pedal based tuner.
My granddaughter and me tried for about ten minutes to get this tuner to work. We watched a YouTube video with a demo of the exact same model – still no joy. Then two things happened in fairly quick succession.
1) My granddaughter noticed the clear plastic isolator stopping the battery from making contact. You have to actually remove the battery compartment cover to take the isolator out.
Still no joy – we could see faint colour changes in the red and yellow bars but the note ID in the centre didn’t alter. Scratching my head in puzzlement, I remembered that most new digital devices have a clear plastic screen protector. Not this one – but it did have an unobtrusive plastic tag at the top of the display so . . .
2) I pulled the tag and and a screen protector that was an exact facsimile of the display came off in my hand then – Bingo!
The tuner started working in exactly the way the YouTube demo had shown and my granddaughter was able to tune her guitar perfectly in a couple minutes. I have now ordered anothe one for my grandson.
If yours doesn’t immediately work – check the operator then . . . enjoy! 🙂
