Really fun game, after years of development, this did live up to expectations.
I do miss the full open world areas and being able to use vehicles, but everything else is just pure zombie killing fun!
Been waiting since 2014 to play dead island 2, after seeing the 2014 trailer I thought this day would never arrive. Its been passed on through a lot of developers and changed a lot since the 2015/16 gameplay.
The story is unique, I like it a lot, but is way different to how the original dead island played out. Its not as long as I thought it would be but you get a lot to do in the way of exploring so it makes up for it. But side quest as boring and not rewarding enough.
The game difficult is based on the players play style, so that way everyone is equal in a way. Online is fine I guess, only issue is that theres no option to enable game chat to communicate with open mics.
Well worth the wait for this game and I hope we get some dlc for it as the ending indicates either a dlc story or second game.
Well first of the case in which it came was amazing felt like a kid at Christmas opening it up to reveal some stunning tarot cards a patch it also came with a map and an absolutely stunning steel game case the game itself was so much fun can go around killing zombies for hours in so many creative ways
The game is enjoying and so far its been good experience. Likes DI2.
Work on this sequel began back in 2012. Stuck in development hell, the project passed between three separate studios as it staggered clumsily on its tortured journey towards release. Dambuster’s deserves much praise for releasing a product that not only functions but functions well.
Not every game has to be groundbreaking with engaging, multilayered, interesting protagonists with epic character arcs and sweeping, expensively assembled orchestrated music scores. Or with sandboxes so vast you could never hope to find everything in them (specifically thinking of AC Odyssey). Some titles know what they are and don’t pretend to be anything more.
Dead Island 2 is an unpretentious, first-person, hack and slash adventure, set in a post-apocalypse Los Angeles switching between mini-sandbox levels consisting of sprawling beautiful Beverly Hills mansions with glorious art deco furniture to Hollywood movie sets and the boardwalk of Venice Beach, bathed in glorious sunshine. You can choose between 6 characters and even without extensive backstory’s, they seem to be interesting with a semblance of individuality. They probably are walking stereotypes/caricatures of Los Anglicans though.
Dead Island 2’s gameplay is antiquated from a bygone era. Pick up a weapon, modify said weapon at a workbench in a safehouse using components found in the world, bludgeon zombies, one zombie staggers, one runs, one explodes, etc, etc. But that’s ok, because much like the Far Cry games (of which I’m a massive fan, although they need to drastically reinvent the formula for the next iteration) the world is the star.
Some individuals will decry the lack of genuine character progression/levelling-up elements, such as enhancing health and stamina or the ability to alter you’re characters appearance. But this game isn’t a full-on RPG and never pretended to be. The great (late) Patrice O’Neal declared back in the day, that as good as games were getting (graphics, story, characters, musical score, tension, atmosphere) they were no longer “fun”.
Dead Island 2 is a game where you don’t have to think. Much like current Los Angeles you just run around L.A hitting “zombies” in the head with a bat or samurai sword. And who doesn’t want to do that? With Collectors Editions now costing 250 with very limited content (looking at you Resident Evil/Capcom) Dead Island 2’s is a welcome change. A cool designed little package with a vibrantly colored steel-book, a couple of pin badges, in-game map and tarot cards based on the ones in the game (I presume) and a season pass. And if the season pass includes one or two more areas as detailed as the ones in the game, for a total of 85 I personally don’t think you can complain. Would definitely recommend.
My son is very happy with his new game and all the extras that came with it.
What’s not to like 60fps , brutal melee , exploration in funky homes you wish you had , you’ll never feel alone playing as the dead follow your every move that you can solve with a superb golf driver that goes on the fairway with every swing and makes a lovely thlop ! sound every time that helps with your perfect drive to a big drewlling head every time . Awsome game that you’ll have to grind for max reward .
Honestly loving it so far the story the characters the gameplay everything honestly a must buy
