The old DC I have has lost it’s battery cover and so the battery will not stay inside. This replacement it all stainless, although it is not a Mitutoyo it does the job and looks like it will last for more years than the one it replaced. Good value I think, although it could have been finished better in some places it works well and I’m happy at the price!
Needed these to ensure box joint jig set up was close to accurate. Reads a 10mm router bit as 10.1mm so not far off but also not precise.
Battery supplied in the device was almost dead meaning that I thought it was faulty (screen not showing anything, then when it did it was out by some distance). Lucky a spare battery was supplied.
It will do for rough work but for doing exact work like joints, not sure I fully trust it.
Pay more for more accuracy would be my advice.
I use this to measure the width of dental burs as I am a dentist – it measures the shank of a bur as 1.59mm and the correct width is 1.6mm so it is accurate to within 0.01mm at this small width – as stated in the guide
I use them at work, and have done my entire career (obviously different sets) but this pair are the first ones that have matched accurately the items I’m measuring. (I’ve been measuring diamonds with a known carat weight and are certified which have accure measurements on) Other pairs are “close enough” but these ones are the first that are bang on
Only gripe. The mm to inch button is why there off button is and vice versa. I keep changing the settings when I want to turn them off. Oh, and the foam in the case, I’ve hade to reglue down twice cos it wasn’t secure. Otherwise, brillia
I took these calipers out of the box and tried them when they arrived. They were inaccurate to more than a centimetre of calibration. I had to remove the battery and ‘reboot’ the chip.
Now they are fine. Do this simple procedure if you are unsure of their accuracy.
I will have some years of usefulness from them. Be careful how you treat them and do NOT force the calipers or drop them.
Great value but more delicate than an expensive set.
Measurements are more than accurate enough for home use ie checking sizes of components before ordering. Might not be accurate enough for true precision engineering but at this price point they are certainly up to the mark.
Very good, sadly had a faulty caliper but the company sorted the issue and gave me a working pair that still holds up today. Great as a budget option but might be worth paying extra for a better one
What you see and read is what you get; Looks and feels a strong unit.
Would I buy it again for the price yes I would.
But I have only given it a 4 star.
Found a ding in the bottom outside of rear cliper does not affect measurements;
And I can not get to the fine screws on top of the cage as they seem to be out of line with the screw heads that give a fine adjustment to the cage.
Feels sturdy but can’t say it feels like top quality. Can’t expect too much for this price. The engineering leaves a bit to be desired. Not always true these days but here is a good example of what “made in China” can mean… Nevertheless, after testing it, fact is that it is perfectly accurate and that what’s matter and I am satisfied with my purchase. Can’t compare with other cheaper version available on Amazon so can’t say if you can get the same for less.
Took delivery today. Plastic cover for the item was open and protruding from the black case. Inside, the battery and screwdriver were loose. There was some debris (black filament?) in the base of the container. So it looks like it is not brand new. That said, it does seem to do the job and has the feel of a well made item. I’ll keep it but deduct one star.
One job the digital equivalent excels at is measuring the guage of guitar strings, using this it is easy to find out what was fitted before and in some cases even narrow it down to a probable maker. Not a problem if you own one or two instruments, but if you are handling a number, it really helps.
It has proved accurate enough for this and other uses, saving time and eyestrain. It comes in a sensible case with adequate instructions and a spare battery. I am really glad that I bought it.
Overall, this is a good device and is worth the investment. The price is extremely competitive. There are many other digital callipers on the market which cost many times more than this example. What do you get if you spend more? Not much, some allow an external device to be plugged in, to allow for the recording of multiple measurements, while others are simply longer. Therefore, these callipers have most of the features of a pair of callipers which cost several hundred pounds.
My ‘rudimentary’ testing of the callipers reveal that they are accurate enough and certainly would be adequate for the home and/or prosumer user. Unless you are producing items for industries which require tight tolerances (1000th of an inch); these callipers would prove sufficient.
Some of the other reviews have negatively commentated about the ill-fitting box. The callipers will move in the box however, by simply opening the callipers 2.33mm (this is easy to measure given the application!!), they will no longer move in the box. Not perfect but not a problem.
The machining of the tool is very acceptable and it feels well made in your hand. As others have mentioned the thumbwheel does feel a little ‘vague’ but does not affect the accuracy of the tool. The thumbwheel is used to open and close the callipers and seems to ‘slip’ if not enough pressure is used when turning. The slipping, however, does not affect the way the measurements are calculated and is therefore a small negative point and is enough to lose one star.
It comes with a spare battery (LR44) and micro-screwdriver to change the batteries. Both of these are stored securely in the box.
Conclusion, although not perfect, at this price (20.99), there is nothing out there to rival this. Unless you are a professional engineer and need accuracy of better than 0.03mm; then this is going to be a wise investment.
Thumb wheel alignment not as good as it could be but once engauged works fine.
Want to measure a small device/product accurately then this could be for you.
The measurements can be shown in MM/INCHs by a quick press of a button. Min and Max measurements are 0 – 150mm and 0 – 6 inch.
The measuring Caliper comes in a nice hard plastic case.

It’s for measuring objects, from the inside, outside, step and depth with two sets of jaws with the probe.
There is a thumb roller for fine adjustments. You can set the locking screw firmly to fix the position then take a precise measurement.
This is someone that builds or carves things/objects to a precise measurement.
Oh heck I love this, I saw my engraving machine supplier use one and thought ‘wow, he’s like a proper engineer, *I* want to be a proper engineer’. I had a look around and, of course, you can easily spend three figures on one of these.
This works great out of the box, is superbly accurate and has saved me time and money and helped me measure to within a fraction of a millimeter, where – with the best will in the world – I frankly could not SEE well enough to use any sort of non-digital display device.
Buy buy buy. Totally recommended. Thanks, Tagmaste
I brought this to replace my existing calipers which arn’t digital. Getting older my eyes arn’t what they used to be and the digital screen makes them easy to use. I have so far used them for measuring iphone screws and these calipers easily distinguish between tiny screws of 1.2 & 1.3mm. The construction is solid, steel and hardended stainless steel for the measuring gauge so I’m confident temperature won’t be an issue when measuring.
The case is sturdy.
The instructions include a half page troubleshooting guide which covers the kind of things that could go wrong with a battery operated product like this. I like this and its likely to extend the life of this product.
The battery is secured in a compartment held in by 2 small phillips screws & there is a screwdriver for this and a spare battery included.
I was very impressed when I opened the package. The first thing I noticed was how heavy it is. There’s a glossy, printed cardboard sleeve containing a sturdy black plastic case. The photos in the seller’s ad accurately portray the contents of the case. One thing that’s not shown in the ad is that on the back of the LCD unit there’s a chart which I don’t understand but, as it mentions “Whitworth”, I presume it’s related to screw threads (see photo).
The caliper itself feels substantial and well made. The only obvious plastic is the LCD display itself, the rest is metal. The fine adjustment roller feels very loose but functions perfectly. I’ve been using the caliper to measure the dimensions of various computer connectors and sockets for a project I’m working on and repeated measurements have produced consistent results. As regards accuracy, I have no idea how this would compare to a top-end scientific instrument, but it’s going to be more than adequate for any measurements that I’m ever likely to need.
For the price, I’m very happy with this.
