These are perfect as doesn’t affect having the windows down. Keeps the sun out perfectly and stops bugs getting in with the windows open. Only thing I would say is that it would be handy to have extra sticky Velcro pads.
I was a bit apprehensive as some reviews were mixed. I searched lots of different ones of these but finally bought this one.
We have a CRV and I found its more than big enough, if not a little too big. Much better for my child to be able to sit without having the sun in their eyes and its a bonus that we can now put the window down at the same time.
I love that its a twin pack, so we have a spare one.
A must buy for parents
Bought to keep sun away from my son when travelling, does as it says. Difficult to see through, almost can’t at all. Have driven at 70mph, with the window down and it didn’t move. I haven’t stuck the Velcro on either. I have a 3008, and it is too big for the back doors, but does what I need
This fits the rear windows of my car- Vauxhall Astra. It’s easy to install. Got it because the buckles on the kids car seat get too hot in the summer. This product has prevented that from happening.
Very good at protection from the fun. Only downside is the sticky bits that keep it in place seem to come undone after each journey so I have to restick then each time.
It is a good sunshade but won’t fit very nicely on a bigger car (volvo XC90). It is a bit overstretched. I hope it lasts because I couldn’t find smth better than this so far.
I have an MG ZS, so the doors are quite big.
Purpose
These things are brilliant! In the crazy days of the 2022 summer, these shades kept the back of the car cooler than I expected. They were on 24/7 so they went from sun rise to set. Our littles ones seat never got too hot as it had done with the normal stick on shades.
When driving, the windows could be open and this allowed all the cooler air in without any bugs and kept our little one in the shade.
VERY IMPRESSED
Installation
The shades go on VERY EASY and quick, Literally a sock over the door.
The hard bit is fixing the shades. Supplied are two sticky Velcro pads. The instructions say stick these to the door (doesn’t help by suggesting where) and then using the tabs on the shades, secure the shades. The premise is simple, the practice is a pain. Either I have paint that won’t let stuff stick or the pads are not great. Either way, they wouldn’t stick. All this meant was that the shades needed readjusting every now and again, a 2second job. Aesthetically, because they didn’t fix down they couldn’t go taught, on all sides, but honestly that’s a bit picking thing.
OVERALL
I am 90% happy with these. Their ability to shade the back is brilliant. Their installation is simple, but a bit flawed. Some better Velcro pads and more instructions would have helped. (I appreciate they can’t do a car by car “how too” but guidance on best place to put sticky pads would have been nice.
Would I recommend them? Definitely, but I’d explain the foibles.
Overall, these are really good and their benefits outweigh the cons. I bought these to replace a partial window blind (the suction cup touting type) and they obviously cover much more window than those.
In the dry, they are really good and cut out a fair amount of light. Not all light, but enough to protect the baby’s eyes. In the wet/moist mornings they stick to the window and look a bit fleshy.. By that, I mean they ruffle up and clump a bit like skin might when you squish it. If you drop your windows to clear them on moist or fogged up mornings, the material clings to the window and can trip the safety trap feature of the windows.
One really bad thing I found is my drivers side rear window is almost impossible to see out of now as the dual layer of mesh (inside and outside) and creates a privacy filter like effect, but that’s not good when you’re looking in your blind spot reversing out of Tesco car park or changing lanes on the M1! I also find the car to feel more like a van in that respect, as I would rely far more on the mirrors than just glancing over my shoulders.
Other than that, really nice! I drive a Mk4 Ford Mondeo and these fit the back windows perfectly. I did not use the adhesive strips to tack it down to the inside of the door, I just let the material clip over the trim of the door and it’s been great.
Update, June 2021: I’ve attached a photo of what it’s like if you leave these on in the rain. The material gets soppy and sticks to the windows, making the window impossible to see through. (This was trying to reverse out of a parking bay in a supermarket after the heavens opened.)
