Love this little item. I’m new to playing so cannot comment on accuracy but seems great to my ear. Found it easy to use and would definitely, with my limited experience, recommend this.

Easy to use and does the job. Read the instructions though, as the battery cover undoes clockwise! Appreciate the fact that this one came WITH a battery and arrived very quickly.

Plug and go simple to use and quick. I have never tuned guitar before this gadget makes it possible

A great device that dose the job well. A very easy to use tuner for four instruments with a clear, easy to see screen. I would have given five stars but the battery cover will not stay on so had to use a piece of tape.

I like how easy it is to use. Worst thing for me was that I had to fit a new battery after just a few days as the one that came with it was cheap rubbish.

able to tune the uke okay but had difficulty in tuning the G-string, got there eventually

useful little tuner for stringed instruments but not really suitable for wind instruments as it works on vibrations not via a microphone. So it will sort of work on a clarinet (not very consistently), clipped to the bell, but not on a saxophone as you can’t see the instrument when it’s clipped on.

easy to use and quite sensitive – your tuning needs to be spot on to get the green ligh

I had a similar product from a different manufacturer that broke ( due to me ). I then bought what I thought was the same product but it was a slightly cheaper and inferior model. Since these are not particularly expensive items I thought I’d try this. I was pleased to find that it was a good choice! The reaction time is so much better with this, it has a nicely laid out, clear display, that is graduated to show closeness to the note. This is all that you want and need!

This is a lovely tuner, and very responsive compared to some more expensive types. My all time fave is a Snark, but if it wasn’t for the slightly fiddly on button at the back, I would rate this better in terms of response to a lightly plucked string, and lovely bright clear display…. The Snark is good, but shows too much detail which clutters the display. The Donner tuners are good enough and cheap enough, to dedicate one to each instrument, so I’ve already ordered two more, so I don’t have to keep switching it from one guitar / Banjo to another.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIf you seek to tune ANY stringed instrument – whether it be a piano, double bass, bass guitar, cello, guitar, viola, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, or violin – then used with a PITCH PIPE so that you can HEAR the note of the open string you wish to tune on your stringed instrument of choice – this is the PERFECT tuning aid for YOU.

The aid detects when Western ‘concert pitch’ of each note is reached so you can be confident that YOUR instrument will be accurately pitched to ‘fixed-pitched’ instruments such as timpani, woodwind, reeds, and brass – and it also enables players of brass instruments to accurately adjust the length of their MOUTHPIECES to accurately pitch their instruments so as to achieve a ‘tight’ harmonious sound.

Operation is really simple — all you have to do is:

      1. Turn the battery cover clockwise to open the battery compartment
      2. Insert the battery the right way up
      3. Replace the cover
      4. Press the button for two seconds to switch on the device
      5. Press the button to select the INSTRUMENT you wish to tune
      6. Clip the instrument onto the head of your instrument
      7. Use your pitch pipe to hear the desired note of the string you are tuning
      8. As you get close to the required note the display will turn BLUE and display the NAME of the note you are ‘aiming’ for — with a central ‘datum mark to indicate when the string is ‘on pitch’.
      9. You will also see indicators on either side of the datum mark to indicate whether the note you seek is sharp or flat so that you know which way to turn the tuning peg to tune the note.
      10. When the note is precisely ‘on pitch’ (A = 440 Hz) the screen will turn GREEN. This is particularly important for FRETTED instruments because the frets are spaced to precisely sound the correct note ONLY when the instrument is properly tuned and the INTONATION is accurately set. If the string is NOT precisely tuned the instrument will sound dull and lifeless.
      11. Press the button for two seconds to turn off the tuning aid. The aid will ‘remember’ the instrument you selected to tune for next time.

You can also use the tuning aid to accurately tune drum kits as well as accurately tune the vellums on banjos and banjoleles to achieve a solid wall of perfectly pitched ensembles such as rock bands, jazz quartets, string quartets, etc.

Another great feature is that the INTONATION of fretted instruments can be accurately set by ‘pitching the string using the pitch-pipe, and then ‘pulling’ the second harmonic and comparing the said note with the note sounded at the 12th fret and then adjust the bridge of the instrument to achieve spot-on note intonation right across the fretboard.

And the best bit is that the pitch pipe and tuning aid is totally PORTABLE so all ‘variable-pitch’ instruments can be accurately tuned ‘on the go’ when gigging – especially useful when ‘settling’ instruments that are exposed to extreme temperatures such as bringing instruments from a cold environment into a warm venue.

      Five stars

I have had 2 Snarks which didn’t last very long at all. I bought this because it was much cheaper. Buts it’s decent! The display is well lit, logical and readable. Low E on an acoustic guitar is accurate, and the unit looks less tacky than a Snark. It does various instruments and I’d worry about how to reset it to guitar if it ever moved around. But for the price – 5 stars

Bought to replace an Eno ET-33 of which whatever the body is made of was starting to turn soft and sticky. Would have opted for another Eno, but not if it’s going to go the same way.
Just put the ‘newby through its paces.
Straight out of its pack and upon installing the battery I checked the tuning of my ukulele, mandolin and (electric) 6 and 12 string guitars with no problem. Instrument tunings selectable (violin doing for mandolin) though obviously, and as expected, the octave strings on the twelve were not recognised by number but the note names were with the tuning bars on the dial indicating whether sharp, flat or in tune. All tones sensed through vibrations at each instrument’s headstock.
Not bad for the price, only time will tell.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this mainly for the price as it was just a back-up one I needed for the guitar I keep in the van to practice at lunch. It’s perfect. The backlight shines green when it’s in tune which is a nice touch and it’s really easy to use.
Had it ages, used daily, and the battery still going strong which I’m very happy with.

This is chromatic which means you don’t have to select the note you want, you just hit the string and adjust your instrument to the note you want; perfect for guitar if you’re down-tuning the bass string to Drop D. Keep it on Chromo and you never have to change the setting, just turn it on and tune each string.

1 button only – hold down to turn on and hold down again to turn off. Press button once and it changes from Chromatic / Guitar / Bass / Ukulele / Violin / BJ which i presume is Banjo / then F / Bb / Eb. When you turn it off it stays on the last selected option you used so if you only use 1 option you never have to find it, it’s always there waiting when you turn it back on.

It works on vibrations so you don’t need a mic, just clip it onto the instrument and it’ll pick up the tone from vibration alone. Perfect for loud gigs as people could be screaming and shouting but this will not be affected by it at all.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersNegatives first:
      1. The manual (well, minuscule piece of paper with even more minuscule type) is a string of typos, grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, etc, and in 2019 there really is no longer any excuse for this.
      2. The manual also contains inaccurate information, suggesting that the LCD turns orange when flat/sharp but close to in tune, before turning green when completely in tune. It does no such thing. At least mine doesn’t.

And at 5.99 that’s all the negatives I feel justified in raising. Everything else seems to be fine at this price. Tuning appears to be accurate (I will test it against my Boss TU-3 when I get a chance). The convenience of having it mounted on the headstock is worth every penny and the fact that it will tune my basses and various 6-strings makes it doubly useful. I have previously used the TU-3 and a couple of iPhone tuners (Boss and Fender) as well as the tuners built into my DAWs, but at this price I am seriously considering buying one for each guitar (which means I will need to buy a further seven). They are much more convenient to use and I consider them to be at an almost disposable-level price.

      Recommended.
