It does the job, Is quite long and reaches far even on my big desk, has an axis in the midle and back to control the angle and a rotary point where the mic is secured which gives you a lot of control. Very handy, also it looks sleek. Would reccomend
As an experienced voice artist with my own voice booth, and one of the trainers of VoiceoverMasterclass.com, I didn’t think there was a better boom arm than the classic Rode arms that we’ve had in our studios for years. But this is so better designed and is so stable and the hidden cable channels are an excellent touch. We’ve had to adapt the pop filters to connect to the larger boom arm, but this is a small niggle. A wonderful find.
Save yourself the time, hassle and disappointment from buying other mic arms, this one is the absolute best. I’ve tried them all.
You’re able to easily position it without loosening and tightening bolts. It operates SO SMOOTHLY!
It can hold the weight of a heavy recording or podcast mic. It’s able to hold a Shure SM7B. Probably due to the spring-loaded mechanism.
It’s made properly. No cheap shortcuts, so it’ll last you a long time. I use it for my ‘Life At Your Own Will Podcast’.
Honestly I feel a mug for not buying this sooner as this is many many leagues above any mic arm <80. Go with the high rise option, you can lower the profile if needed but the extra mobility is great.
while it is expensive for a mic arm it works extremely well and looks really nice the internal cable routin is really handy as it looks a lot better with that and rather than winding the cable round if you need to change the cable all you do is remove the magnetic plates hiding the cable
Looks nice great for podcast style setups and gives you free space to move your arm it’s low profile for sure. Only issue is the price and that it can sag depending on how heavy your mic is
For the money, a rachet system with a quick release would have been so much bette
I’ve been waiting a long time for this mic and finally got it in BFCM, which is where I felt most comfortable with the price point as I already have a mic arm that has no issues, however, I’ve wanted a low profile one to declutter my desk and workflow and at this prices it’s excellent.
Many boom arms you’ll find on Amazon or any seller do the trick however what they don’t tell you is what an inconvenience they are. They’re usually mounted on the side and obstruct your view of a second monitor, or anything you have around your main monitor.
However, this Elgato LP arm is great! Since it’s low profile, it tucks underneath the monitors and neatly pops up the microphone just in front of my keyboard. It’s a super thoughtful design, the arm looks great and minimal so it will fit in any setup more or less, and the build quality is fantastic.
Elgato never fails to deliver a product that is just a cut above the rest!
I bought this to replace an NZXT boom arm, the retention mechanism of which broke after only 6 months.
This arm is great, it is very study thanks to the option to tighten the base where the arm slots in. And has much more freedom of movement compared to other arms i’ve tried. The best feature is being able to adjust it on the fly without needing to adjust any retention mechanisms. You just move the arm and it adjusts the balancing to keep it in place itself. We’ll see how it holds up but so far it’s far better than compass type arms.
Really good support for a heavy microphone and heavy shock mount.
Looks great as well with the solid metal construction (not keen on the 2 bar look that others have).
A well made and professional microphone arm with good reach and stretch over the top of a monitor with the included extension arm.
Tangent below.
I’ve gone through a few mic arms now. Using an AT2035, I first had a 20 one, unbranded, it was loud and clanky but it did the job, until the point which connected to the table mount ended bending and cracking.
Replaced it with the R0DE PSA – 3 of them. Rode had lots of issues, first was grinding and grinded the paint off where the metal peices met, returned, that one also did the same thing after 2 days of use. Sent it back, bought one off Scan UK, lasted a few months before doing the same thing as the others, and eventually would not stay down. Stuck with my mic up above me and it stayed that way for a year.
Then, this mic arm appeared on my youtube feed, instant purchase, and it by far the best mic arm I have ever owned. And with it I treated myself to a new microphone.
Now reliability is to be seen, but having a wire compartment, the uniqute ball and swivel mechanic where the mic sits, the raiser, the counterweight for lighter microphones should you need it, this all makes for one unique mic arm, which at this current time I cannot complain about.
Pros:
Comes assembled
Feels high quality, thick metal to the touch
Cable management with magnetic covers is a great touch
Easy to install
No sag in 2 weeks with a relatively heavy microphone (Razer Seiren Elite)
Cons:
Just the price, Elgato have decided on a unfavourable sterling exchange rate compared to buying their items in the US.
Overall super happy with the purchase, feels like it will last a long time and looks great.
I’m a minimalist so don’t like the idea of having to store lots of little bits for various things I have around the house. I also tend to lose things and a tiny Allen key is extremely easy to lose.
