Have used this on its own and also using a wrap and baby carrier for my 4mo to keep rain and wind from getting to him whilst hiking.
It keeps him warm and is very wind proof.
Would thoroughly recommend!
My little boy is always cold and this additional, fleecy layer is perfect for keeping him warm on winter walks. A little fiddly to get on and get be difficult if you keep it in as it slides down the arm straps but once you know this it is easy to work with.
I would be loads without this.
This provides a great additional layer and hood for my baby when using my Ergobaby carrier in cold weather. I was a bit apprehensive to order this, as previous reviews had mentioned that it did not cover the arms. However the product has a small gap with press-studs about half way down on each side (see photos), which allows you to attach it to the carrier straps where they buckle in at the waist. The 3 press-studs loop around the carrier straps, which I found sufficient to keep baby’s arms tucked in, though they can be a bit fiddly to close once baby is in the carrier. It looks reasonably waterproof, but I haven’t tested this in heavy rain yet. Great value item.
This cover is brilliant! I regularly put baby in the sling inside and then he falls asleep before we go outside. Instead of taking him out and changing him I now just put this on top. It’s so cozy and warm inside, with baby sharing my body heat. In fact, it’s so warm that we decided it would be better to use this than more layers when having a drink after skiing in the snow. Baby sleeps like an angel in there. We love this cover, could not recommend more.
I am very happy with the purchase. We used it on a freezing day and kept baby cosy and warm. The instructions are clear, however they could be clearer. The good thing is that once done, you don’t need to check the instructions again 🙂
I’d definitely recommend it, as it’s peace of mind. Nothing’s better than going for a walk with baby knowing he’s cosy and warm
This is a great cover! Keeps baby warm and mostly dry. It can be a bit fiddly to get on which can be tricky if your baby’s crying or you get caught in the rain. Also I have to have my coat open over the top to wrap over the sides otherwise my baby’s arms are exposed. This isn’t too much of a problem if I’m out and about and can duck into a shop or shelter, but I wouldn’t be able to take my baby on a wet dog walk.
It’s great as my baby loves the carrier and hates going in a buggy of a car seat! I bought this product to keep her warm and ensure she is Kept dry! It’s a great product the hat is quit big but overall does what I need it. It’s not that easy to put on for my husband but I don’t have an issue.
Love this cover. It’s wet, cold and windy where we live and this has been great. My son is always snug and dry. We bought it for the ergobaby 360 carrier and it fits perfectly over it.
It took me a little while to get the hood to sit in the right place to stop him getting dripped on but as he’s got bigger, it’s a much better fit. The only thing to be aware of is that, depending on how he cuddles in, it doesn’t cover his arms sometimes. It’s not a problem for us because I wear a coat with the zip open so he can tuck them in there

It’s a very good product and I’m using it lately a lot because it’s raining a lot here where we are and I need to walk my doggy so this is super handy ! Protects from rain and wind and keep bby warm
Very good option so as to keep your baby warm when you carry him on your ergo baby. Good quality and easy to use. However, the price is a little high for the usability and size of i
This cover has come in really handy in the colder weather and I would not ne without it now. It is not very thick but is lined with fleece (cannot be removed) but then if too thick it might overheat baby as they have your warmth to keep them cosy too. It has a handy hood which keeps baby dry. My baby is 4 months old and there is plenty of room to grow. It is a bit fiddly to put on. Overall I would recommend this for colder, wet and windy weather.
I’ve had it 1 month now and these are my thoughts
Pros
Well made and quality material
Keeps baby nice and warm
Can use forward facing I have found
Cons
Buttons around the top of the straps easily come undone when she tilts her head back
Her arms are always out so if it’s raining you need to take an umbrella anyway
Only takes a minute to put on but when you’ve got lots of other stuff to do can be annoying. I tend to leave mine on.
Baby is 10 months old and already can see she will be too long for it soon and she is a short baby.
Overall it’s doing a job but I’m surprised that someone hasn’t designed something more effective and for a better price. It looks like it keeps it value so will hopefully be able to sell when she outgrows it.
Exactly what I needed to keep baby dry in the carrier. Only thing I would say is the poppers unpop really easily which isn’t ideal when trying to get baby in to the carrier. But it’s very warm, waterproof and keeps baby snug.
It’s ok, does the job and fits our Omni 360 Mesh, keeps baby dry and warm.
Lost a star because the snaps by the hood which attach the cover to the arms aren’t strong enough and keep popping undone. The cover still stays in place ok, but it’s annoying that they aren’t strong enough. I’m sure any “tester” would’ve found the same as it consistently happens every time I use it and my baby is only 3 months old.
I will probably add another couple of poppers so it stays put.
Also disappointing that it can’t be used outward facing – this would’ve been easy enough if the hood was made to be detachable.
I was a little dubious about this item at first as there are a lot of similar items available cheaper, but chose to go with the genuine ergobaby cover and it was well worth the money. Our little one was warm and dry even though it was torrential rain and I was soaked through various layers. It also fitted perfectly with out carrier so saved a lot of potential messing around trying to fit a universal type cover, which is the last thing you want to do in the pouring rain.
I am really happy with this Ergo carrrier, it definately is the better product in my opinion. Warm enough that my daughter diddnt need a coat on, so going in and out of warm places into the cold was easier as she wore her normal clothes and I just took her feet out of the cover and loosened the carrier in warm places and tucked her back in and tightened the straps when outdoors.
If you have an ergo carrier I’d reccomend getting this cover.
The only things Im not so keen on
1: the price, it costs a lot for what it is. (A little picnic blanket with poppers on essentially). I feel the brand name has added 40% to the cost.
2: there is no pocket. This would be a great feature and something other brands have, like a kangaroo pouch for mums hands and to put a phone in.
I use this with my omni 360 cool mesh it is great and keeps baby super warm. On very cold/ windy days I put baby in a cosy jumper and when it’s not too cold just her indoor cloths. You must remember your body heat counts as a layer as does the carrier itself. Don’t put baby in snowsuit in the carrier! It makes them too hot and puts their hips in a non ergonomic position !!
Love this and as a ergo baby model of cover for the carrier I thought all the press studs would connect and marry up. Sadly the ones to cover the carrier straps don’t click together so flap about so I tuck them in. It worked well with the recent downpours and windy days to keep him dry and warm snuggly when I hose not to get the pram out but still go out and about. A little challenging to fasten the clips when alone but I figured out a way to manage
Works really well, I got soaked in a storm and my son was fine. To be aware it attaches in lots of places so it would be a bit of a pain to attach while you’re out and about and already wearing the baby. Best to put on before you set out. The multiple attachment points are probably what make it so weatherproof though. Not cheap either but very well made and does the job. Also if you’re wearing the carrier in the cross back instead of rucksack style you need to reattach one set of the poppers every time you put it on.
My son prefers to be in the baby carrier, I needed something to keep him warm and dry. After reading reviews I decided to go for this one. I have to say I am delighted. It’s so easy to put on, I leave it on now since it’s the autumn. It’s kept my son warm and dry when we have been caught in showers. Really happy with my purchase. Hoping to get many years out of it!
Works well in protecting the baby from wind and rain. It is big, but I assume that’s to cater for toddlers. Not sure it’s actually waterproof due to fabric (100% polyester) but has coped so far with showers.
Overall, a well made product that extends the usability of your baby carrier.
Can’t comment on the outdoor use of this yet (getting ready for a baby that hasn’t yet arrived) but I have just bought this to go with my Ergobaby Original carrier that I bought in 2015 for my older child. I nearly didn’t buy from Amazon because I was worried about the reviews that said the poppers / clips might not fit, but what has arrived appears to be a genuine new Ergobaby product and is very straightforward to fit to my Original carrier.
Don’t bother asking for a replacement ( I did and the same thing happened…)
I sent an email to ergo customer service UK and they sent out some adaptor snaps for free of charge and now they fit perfectly 🙂
Great addition to the carrier – using with my newborn which means I don’t have to bundle him up so he is more comfortable and fits better in the carrier but the cover keeps him warm and is a good wind shield. Added benefits are the hood acts as a bit of a blackout to help him sleep, it generally protects the carrier from wear and tear. A bit pricey but worth it. Only comment is the intructions provided are difficult to follow so watch the YouTube video which is v short and simple!
This rain cover does what it says, it keeps baby covered and dry in the rain. I don’t feel it is the best design, it’s a little fiddly to put on and it’s not really possible to do while wearing the carrier so need to keep the cover on whenever rain is suspected but it kinda looks a little like you’re wearing a black bin bag over the baby. It covers well but I’d prefer a design that could be easily pulled out and put on for when it rains.
Well worth the money!
Well, a brilliant idea and I have already used this a lot in the last few weeks – it tucks neatly around their feet and the hood is great, and it is both warm and dry. Well done Ergo, and maybe some more exciting colours next time please!
Regarding the fit, it WILL fit all ergo carriers – well at least I have the older style standard grey denim one with stars on and it’s fine, it functions. However, there are waterproof strips attached to the top of the cover that are supposed to fit onto the poppers on the straps of the carrier itself, but the poppers are not the same size so it doesn’t work. A very annoying little detail that might not happen to everyone, but there it is. If you can’t attach those strap covers they just hang down or can be tucked in so it’s no real problem.
I did find however that it is ALOT warmer than I was expecting. The first time I used it it was pouring with rain and about 10C outside. I had put my son in a sleepsuit (vest underneath) with a fleece cardigan on to keep him warm, and after about 30mins in the carrier he was actually sweating. So I ended up having to take his cardigan off and carry it. He did however fall asleep almost immediately each time he’s gone in it, so it’s obviously very cosy!
Pros:
– Fits perfectly on the carrier, and covers all gaps so no cold air or rain can get in
– Completely waterproof (and easy wipe-clean) outside, super warm and cosy fleece on the inside! It also covers the straps to keep them dry too
– Hood can be put up or down as needed, and when down, doesn’t restrict baby’s view to look around
– There are little straps around the feet section for tightening the cover so that it stays in place and is a snug fit
Cons:
– Quite expensive for what it is. I would also prefer it if the fleece lining was detachable so that you could use it as a raincover in the summer. But I suppose that is ergobaby’s way of making you buy both the raincover and winter weather cover separately
– The hood is quite large, and so constantly falls off my 5mo baby’s head. I found myself constantly pulling it back up the other day, and it wasn’t even that windy. It would be better if it had a drawstring bit around the hood so that you could adjust it to fit your baby’s head so that it doesn’t constantly fall off
– It’s a bugger to put on yourself as there are no instructions in the box!
Now onto that last comment… Putting it on. Without any instructions it’s really difficult to put on. Between my husband and I, we tried a number of times, and couldn’t figure out how to get the damn thing on. So eventually I did some online research, and it seems to be a common issue that people have. I ended up finding a video on Youtube which explained how to fit it, so below is a quick step guide:
1) Lay the cover flat on the floor with the fleece side up
2) Lay your ergo on top with front of the carrier facing into the cover, and ensure that the bottom waistband of your carrier is at the foot end of the cover (looks like a lazy “W”), and the top head end is inline with the hood end of the cover
3) With your arm straps facing outwards, fold the two long side tabs over into the straps and clip into place top and bottom using the snap-buttons
4) At the bottom there is a flap with the care label on, this loops inside a tab at the bottom of your carrier (under the long velcro strap) and fastens using a small velcro tab
5) Pin the long straps at the top (with the three buttons on) onto the arm straps at a setting to suit your baby’s height
6) Put the carrier on as you normally would, and once on, tuck baby’s legs into the pouches at the bottom of the carrier, and use the tabs to tighten the base of the carrier around their legs
Done!
I’m glad I purchased this, however just wish it was A. a bit cheaper, and B. detachable between the layers for multi-season use!
The elasticated leg cover is not quite as expected, there’s a fabric drawstring and buckle thing (like on a rucksack strap) to tighten it, but only part of the strap is elasticated. To get a snug fit I tightened it so only the elasticated section is used but had to knot the drawstring as otherwise it didn’t stay and loosened off while wearing- a toggle would make more sense. Even at this tight setting there’s plenty of room for him to kick about in there, and lots of room to grow. The hood is lovely and a great size, but the straps that attach at the shoulder snaps seem short- that may be because he is only little still (10 months), but I haven’t felt the need to attach it at the shoulder anyway, the cover stays up without.
I’m very glad I bought this fleece-lined one rather than just the waterproof only cover, it saved me needing to buy a babywearing coat, and I can still tuck my hands in the body of the carrier with him (I always forget my gloves!). The only things that would improve it would be a pocket on the outside (nitpicking!) and a toggle for the leg pouch.
