I bought this to vacuum my lounge as it has a wooden floor and I have a dog. The results are excellent. Recommended as far as hard floors go. I cannot comment on carpet results.
Nice cleaner does a great surprised how much it picks up
The robot itself has good suction and it’s very quiet. However the navigation is a bit off and often gets stuck or goes clean same place again and again.
as a hoover it works really really well, had some issues connecting to the wifi but a alternate device seemed to of done the trick, as good as this hoover was id go for one with a lidar sensor as this hoover does just bang itself around the place but it does work really well
I got this for my mum for Christmas and she absolutely loves it, she even bought herself another one for upstairs lol! It’s so handy she can put it on before going to work in the morning and when she gets home the floor is nice and clea
This is a very smart robovac for a very reasonable budget. I’m not sure where the poor reviews on the mapping functions come from. Maybe the firmware updates have now fixed these issues as its been excellent for us. Our house is very busy with furniture and the Robovac works under all furniture, maps around the legs of our dining table and chairs, and even finds its way back through the chaos to its home to recharge. It works under couches, coffes tables, TV units and never gets stuck. Follow the instructions from day one and tidy all cables and pick up loose stuff that might lay about, and this little machine will make your life so much easier. We have a mix of timber, tile, and a large deep pile rug, all of which it does a very good job of cleaning. The scheduling function is very useful and the app is user friendly. The Robovac seems to map the rooms and locations of items very well, although you can’t see the maps in the app. This isn’t really a negative for me, as I don’t see any real need to see a map of the rooms it covers as it does everything without prompting. I’m a stickler for technology not doing what its supposed to do (even the little things usually annoy me), and I am highly impressed with what this piece of tech can do. My only regret is that we didn’t buy one sooner….or that we didn’t buy 2 so we can have one on each floor of the house!
We track in a lot of grass and sawdust as well as having pet hair from the dog. I still need to vacuum about 1x per week but this keeps me from having to do it daily. Works great!
This was easy to set up and works brilliantly. Mine is called Clever Trevor as he smooth under the beds and gets all the dust that I usually miss. At first he got stuck in a couple of places but after I blocked them off he manages the whole house without intervention. I often start him cleaning as I go out in the morning so the whole place is clean when I get back.
Okay I was skeptical. Like really skeptical! I was also dubious incase I sent best part of 200 on something that may be rubbish.
However… It is amazing!
I have mid brown coloured mid piled carpet and 1 very floofy Norwegian Forest Cat and 1 very shedding half Norwegian Forest cat! Think fine flyaway and massive tufts of fluff and you will understand my plight. Add in a 9 year old that drops enough crumbs when he eats to feed an entire mouse nation and we have the perfect testing grounds for the G40.
Firstly it took me an hour to connect this to the Internet… BUT that was my fault, I’d put the password in wrong
But your password in right and it’s a quick 5 min job!
I set it to go on the boost setting and it bumbled away collecting all the carpet treasures! It managed to get into the kitchen, it went over the thick coir mat by the back door with no problem!
It whizzed up the clumps of floof and the crumb mountain with ease. When it had finished I cleaned the tray and was shocked to see how much it had collected to be honest. I’d only hoovered yesterday!
I did pause it and carry it upstairs to see if it would throw itself down the stairs, however it didn’t. It sensed the edge and continued on its merry little way!
I am really impressed.
The reason I decided to buy is due to my limited Mobility issues and this will be an absolute allie for me in the battle of housework.
Cats are not too keen on it, child thinks it’s a marvel, I am tempted to marry it!
You won’t be disappointed if you order I promise.
Quick delivery and great price point.
A few issues, but i find when i put on the hoover when i am cleaning as opposed to letting it do its own thing,i am much happier with results.he needs a little push in the right direction every now and then.
Overall i love it,and it has certainly made life a lot easier.our dog sheds massively and the eufy addition to our household has helped so much.gone from having to do a full hoover every day to once a week.would recommend.
This is great for the price, but the main issue I’ve ran into is that sometimes after it’s finished in a room it automatically finishes and heads back to the charging station. However, I’ve found several times after it’s finished a room, it just resets the map, and then starts cleaning the same room again. Other than that it’s been excellent.
This is a game changer! I have a bad back and usually used a cordless vacuum. When it stopped working my daughter-in-law recommended this. After reading lots of reviews and listening to her recommendations I decided I’d give it a go. O my word!! It’s an absolute game changer. My sister has now bought one. Very easy to set up and I use the app on my phone and can actually set it to start cleaning when I’m out. Be aware all stuff has to be lifted off floors and cables out of the way but this just makes me more aware of needless stuff on the floor. My wee puppy is no longer scared of it but is very reluctant for me to lift her toys up before it starts and like a child brings them all back out again lol. I am so pleased I got this, I actually took it upstairs to clean the carpets and it went underneath the bed and got into places I couldn’t do. I also cleaned the mattress with it and it didn’t fall off as there is a binding round the mattress. It was unreal how clean it got it. Def highly recommend this and will be happy to answer any questions. Seriously do not hesitate my house is cleaner than ever lol. My husband who was sceptical tells everyone he can about it. Just to add I also empty it every day cleaning out the small filter and wash it once a week but very easy to do.
Have Eufy G20 hybrid and it was a total pig to set up. Had at least 100 attempts then it finally worked. So far it has done OK on our lounge carpet and kitchen and bedroom hard floors. Had blocks added to the bed legs to gain more space so the Eufy can now save moving the bed about. Great benefit when you are a senior citizen.
We call him Steve and he runs every other day downstairs. We can’t really use a robovac upstairs as there are too many changes in levels to make it worth it. That said, for the price, I’m tempted to get one for the three rooms that are on one level.
Sometimes I put all the chairs on the tables to make it easier to get everywhere, but for the most part, Steve just does his thing. I’m constantly shocked by the amount of dirt he picks up, despite being a household with 2 adults, no pets and strict rules around no outside shoes in the house. Previously we hoovered only once a week or less often, so I shudder to think how bad things were BS (Before Steve).
Two small issues: 1. he does get stuck under the kitchen cupboards because they are less than a millimeter too low in some spots. I’m considering adjusting them.
2. Bright sunlight coming in the kitchen doors foxes him so we make sure to run him during hours that the sun isn’t shining directly on the floor (apparently his sensors think it’s a drop). Supposedly you can also tape off the drop sensors, but I haven’t tried that.
All in all one of my best buys in years!
This robot hoover is amazing! I bought a Dyson handheld years ago hoping that it being so mobile would mean I’ll regularly hoover but I just don’t find the time and so when I do use it, I have to empty it (mainly of cat hair) every 5 minutes. We bought the robot hoover thinking that we would be emptying him (yes, him…. he’s called Sir Cleans-a-lot) and was amazed to find he does the entire ground floor without emptying! The instructions suggested his base needed a lot of free space to set up which we just don’t have but we pit the charging Dock behind the sofa and he just enters and returns under the sofa with no issues. The app was so easy to set up. We had to do it three times after realising we should take the hoover closer to the router and it then was speedy! We use Google command to start the hoover and use it once a week or when there’s been heavy foot traffic at home. It’s suction is great. It’s not very loud at all. Our two cats were not scared of it but just watched it work the first few times and now aren’t bothered by it. It comes with spare filter to use whilst the other is being washed and air-drying (so easy to take in and out). The one thing I hated on the Dyson was the longer hairs that get trapped in the wheel brush, but the robot hoover has a very easy hatch that simply pops out and you use the very handy little brush and cutter tool to just trim and comb the hair out and pop it back in! The dust tray is even easier to pull out, open up, empty and them pop back in. Just empty it each time we use it by telling it to run (to get it from under the sofa), pressing the top button to pause it, empty it and put it down to run again. Easy!! It goes under our sofas (which have never been so clean!!!) And climbs easily on and off the rugs. Have to take things off the floor which might get suckered up, like shoes with shoe laces! But it’s only been stuck once and just shouts for help (kinda cutely!).
Haven’t tried using the app to schedule it because of how we empty the tray but the app is easy to use so I’m sure it would would great.
Cannot fault this hoover one little bit and for how easy it’s made my life with hoovering each week the cost is amazing! Would highly recommend!
* The RoboVac G30 is an upgrade to our first foray into robotic vacuums, the RoboVac 30C, and like it’s predecessor it gives a good cleaning performance, especially for something so small and unobtrusive. It’s pretty quiet, too.
* The RoboVac docking station is much smaller than its competitors, and it fits under a set of cupboards in our dining room so the RoboVac G30 is completely out of sight when docked.
* On our floor plan (seven rooms over 95 sq.m. / 1,017 sq.ft.) the RoboVac G30’s typical daily run lasts around 95 minutes, on a mixture of hard floor (85%) and carpet. Vacuum strength is excellent and it adjusts itself to floor type.
* The RoboVac G30’s systemic navigation system is more logical and better suited to our extended bungalow’s large floor plan than the previous RoboVac 30C’s bump and turn navigation, and it’s far more satisfying to watch. It doesn’t come with the barrier strips the 30C came with, but it does know about stairs and avoids drops. Battery life of the RoboVac G30 is not quite as good as that of the 30C but unlike the 30C it remembers where it’s done so it heads home, recharges, and goes back for 5-10mins to finish off.
* For our floor area the RoboVac G30’s dust box is a little small in that it needs emptying after each daily run. The micropore/paper exhaust filter system is very effective.
* The Eufy app’s scheduling options are limited – I cannot see any way to launch the RoboVac G30 automatically more than once a day, but if desired this could be overcome readily with one or more Alexa timed routine(s), or at worst a manual start (either in app – no handheld remote control supplied – or by Alexa voice trigger).
* Alexa integration is useful, and we’ve set that up and used it to trigger or abandon cleans.
* didn’t see any mention of it in the ad blurb, but the RoboVac G30, like the 30C, has drop detection, so it can be taken upstairs and used to clean our bedrooms and landing without falling down the stairs.
*The RoboVac G30 copes well with all our rugs but one small rug with tassels. The tassels can catch on the wheels and if this happens the rug is dragged along for the ride. It handles all of our other rugs, even those fluffy ones in the bathroom, just fine.
* Our cat didn’t know what to make of RoboVac at first, but he usually ignores it. Sometimes he follows it around as though keeping an eye on it. Either way I t’s quiet enough that it doesn’t scare him.
* All in all, we love the convenience of the RoboVac G30 (or 30C). And it’s saving us time and money – we only have the manual vacuum out for the stairs now. Before this we’d have hoovered the entire house twice a week, so that’s a considerable saving in both time and electricity costs. According to our power meter plug it used less than 2.4kWh in October compared to probably 14-18kWh if we’d been hoovering manually. We were hesitant to try these things because they’re not cheap and we didn’t know if it would clean well but we can now say to anyone thinking of them, they’re terrific and we wouldn’t give ours up now.
I have recently adopted a cat and needed a robot vacumme to help me keep up with the mess. I tried the Roomba i5 and was very disappointed so I didn’t have much faith in robotic vacummes but I thought I should give this ago.
It was pleasently surprised that I didn’t get stuck and it managed to navigate it’s way around my living room. It collects cat hairs very well and generally does the job and returns to its base without any envolvment. It tens to mess some spots but a robotic vacumme is not meant to replace deep cleaning with a manual one.
It’s great for daily mess and pets hairs and seems to do the job well without the massive price tag that comes with some other brands.
I should start this review by stating, very clearly, that I am not a domestic goddess. My natural inclination to slovenliness is exacerbated by the other inhabitant of the house, a grumpy cocker spaniel who does not pull his weight with the household chores and traipses all sorts of mud, dust, food and hair everywhere. A colleague had let slip in a meeting that they had a robot vacuum and I had laughed at the thought – “don’t they just scare pets and get lost/stuck in inconvenient places?”, I asked. Then, several weeks ago the state of the house was really starting to get me down and I bit the bullet and started researching. A top of the range model looked appealing, but as I was still not really convinced it was a good idea, I wasn’t prepared to spend 400-500 on one. Then I found this Eufy G30 model – not quite the latest technology, but tried, tested and – with a helpful special offer – considerably cheaper.
It arrived quickly – thank you Amazon Prime! – and once unpacked the first challenge was to find a suitable “Home” location for the base. This was more challenging than I expected as it should be positioned at least a metre away from any obstacles, but close to a plug socket. As I have a small-ish house all my sockets tend to be in the corners of rooms – the most convenient spot was in the corner of the living room, tucked behind the sofa. It isn’t ideal, and occasionally it will get lost on the way back home, but 90% of the time it is fine.
After charging up the unit and forcing myself to do the basic “pick everything up off the floor” style tidy, it was time to unleash the beast. It’s fair to say that the first couple of cleans were entertaining to watch, but a bit underwhelming. The spinning brush went missing on the first clean (sabotage from the canine housemate, I later found it in his bed!) and the unit got stuck between a dining chair and table on the second. However, once we sorted out the first few snags I was seriously impressed at how much dirt and dust it can collect. I tried the automatic mode, but this wasn’t working for the amount of dirt in my house, so I keep it on Max power – as a serious point, the dog is terrified of my big vacuum cleaner and whilst he looks at the Eufy very suspiciously and stays out if its way, he is much less bothered by it, so I’m justifying it with reduced canine stress levels as well.
We now have a routine, the dog and I leave the house for our morning walk and set the Eufy off to clean downstairs. By the time we get back my lounge, kitchen and dining room floors are dust, hair and food free – it genuinely makes so much difference to how I feel. Once a week I set it up to clean upstairs. The first time I did this I realised that I had definitely made the right choice. The newer units are taller to accommodate more brushes and mop features, but this little champ can actually squeeze under my divan base. It’s amazing!
I empty it about once or twice per week, which is very easy but I do tend to spill dust as I’m doing it and the filter cartridge gets clogged up quite easily. I hope that spares are readily available as I suspect I’ll need a few.
It can’t pick up big pieces of debris (e.g. dog kibble), but handles most other things well. The spot cleaning function is OK, but I generally just set it off to clean everywhere. I tried the remote control function from the app and found it a bit pointless, I just pick the unit up and put it where I want it instead.
All in all, I’m really happy with this purchase. It seems sturdy and I hope it lasts a couple of years – I just need them to invent a version that can climb stairs and dust higher up places as well 🙂
I bought this on a whim and it did not disappoint. I don’t know where all the dirt came from as my house was fairly clean before I turned it on. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats and very long hair myself. It has no problem picking it all up! On the full power it did my whole downstairs twice and then took it self home to charge. All I have to do after is steam mop. I have gloss tiles and carpet downstairs so went against the one with the mop as I hate smeary floors. Great little purchase!
I love this as it gives me the ability to come home to a house already hoovered. Sometimes it does get stuck under a bookcase or behind the sofa, but generally is fine left to it’s own devises. I just need to empty it daily and ensure it’s got back into its charging dock ok. Sometimes it knocks the charging dock while cleaning and then can’t get back on. The only downside was when the dog had been sick! It was a scene from a comedy, but less fun to clean.
Wow!
I took a bit of a punt on this Robovac as it was on a pretty good deal. Checked out a few videos online and decided to go for it.
Glad I did!
I live in a house occupied by 4 people. 2 adults. 2 children. No pets.
Our 2 children are under 12 and therefore naturally make a mess… dropping crumbs, dirty shoes etc.
Every meal time I am tired of finishing the meal, tidying and washing up, to then find the floor needs vacuuming. So out comes the vacuum and 10 minutes later, I can finally sit down… to find that another room needs vacuuming…
It’s fantastic but not perfect…
Positives:
Starting with the positives, this device cleans a room for you. Giving you time to finish another job, have a well earned sit down, or sort the children out to then return to the room and have it relatively clean! brilliant!
You can set a schedule or start it from your phone. So it can start while you are out and you come home to a clean room. Excellent!
It requires some maintenance such as emptying the waste compartment but not much.
Negatives:
It doesn’t do well with edges. Especially on carpet where the carpet folds over against your skirting boards. You need a separate vac to get there.
It doesn’t do stairs. So you need a vac for them.
It does pickup or get stuck on things you don’t want to, and requires your attention, such as shoes laces. You then have to sit there for ten minutes trying to pick them out…
It does get confused with light. So if you have the sun shining through your window, and it casts shadows in your room, this will confuse the Robovac. As it things its an obstacle.
Standard setting is not powerful enough on a lower pile carpet. Put it on max for best results.
Overall:
I know i’ve given some negatives but all that is required is a little thought before setting Robovac off to clean. Such as wedging doors open/closed. Moving ALL items off the floor and under units/sofa. Closing curtains to stop shadows.
Overall, we are really happy with this. It gets under sofas that you normally can’t reach and therefore forget about, under TV units, and on max suction, its very close to a regular vacuum.
It’s fine with the top of stairs (we’ve done the panic test) and cleans right to the edge without falling down…
The app is great too. You can activate it with your voice if linked with google assist or Alexa and it will tell you the state of the brushes/sensors and if they require cleaning/replacing.
The other great thing with the app, is that it will notify you if the Robovac gets stuck, is picked up or needs assistance. Great if its picked something up that it shouldn’t or if the kids are playing with it…!!
How i would rate this device is that it’s great to keep the dirt/dust down but it won’t replace a regular vacuum. You will still need that for the edges/stairs etc. But the biggest plus point is saving you time. It does a general clean while you are at work or hanging the washing out and when you get back, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Get it!
This was a Christmas present to ourselves. Our house is over 3 levels and a mix of carpet and laminate. We really only wanted a vacuum without the mop function. We wanted to keep things simple. So after 2 weeks of using this almost daily, we think it’s a great addition to our busy lives. I use it on Boost IQ and sometimes Max setting. There’s always lots of dust and dirt in the tray when it’s done. It’s been really reliable so far but you do need to clean the hair off the brush and empty the container every couple of days. So here’s what’s good and not so good about it.
Thumbs up:
Sheer convenience: We don’t set an auto schedule in case it gets stuck while we’re away from the house. Instead, we use it when we’re home. We get the room ready by making sure the floors are clear, then we start it up, close the door and let it do it’s job. This on it’s own is a game changer for us! It happily vacuums away until you stop it or it runs low on batteries.
It’s smart-enough: Hard to know how smart it is compared to all the ‘intelligent’ ones costing hundreds more. But I reckon it’s smart enough. It doesn’t fall down stairs. It seems to clean the whole floor space well, it rarely gets stuck and it knows how to get back to it’s charging station. That’s pretty good in my books.
Battery is good: It can clean multiple rooms before it decides to go back to the charging station. Certainly no complaints so far.
Extra stuff: It comes with an additional filter so you have one to use while ones drying after a rinse. It also comes with a spare spinning brush.
App: Easy enough to install and use. Just follow-instructions. You can control most things on the app and there’s a nifty map of where the fella has been and even a locate button in case it gets stuck somewhere (not needed to use it yet)
Thumbs down:
Suction power: I would deem this as just adequate. It’s certainly not going to replace your main hoover. It’s good at picking up loose dirt but not great at more stuck on stuff, like fluff from a sock on a carpet for example.
Spinning brush: It can sometimes get tangled up with hair . Maybe there are too much many women in my house!!
App: I really can’t figure out how to switch off certain notifications. It’ll send a notification when it’s being picked up, when wheels are suspended, when it needs a clean etc etc. All good but quite annoying when I’m at work and the wife is using it at home.
Conclusion:
We’re happy with this purchase. It really helps a busy household. It’s been reliable and very easy to use. It’s not perfect but heck, neither am I!!!
I replaced a cheap robot vacuum cleaner with this one specifically for the power of the vacuum and for the Dynamic Navigation. I’m not disappointed with the cleaning, it cleans up really well, however the Dynamic Navigation is nowhere good enough at the moment.
It’s mapping is sketchy and if it get stuck in areas, rather than marking them with a red mark in the map and avoiding them, it will try to clean them again and get stuck. It will only go half way around a circular table one day and then go back, the next day it will navigate around it successfully, the day after it won’t even go to that area so I have no idea where it will clean. The bump technology to detect walls and edges starts fine; finds a wall, but halfway along decides not to map part of the wall as solid so there are big gaps in the outlines of the rooms which probably doesn’t help the mapping. It’s really disappointing as I read that it was meant to use Dynamic Navigation to improve its mapping every time it cleaned, but it really doesn’t seem to be the case, with rooms often part cleaned. In fact, I’d say it does exactly the same thing as my 5 year old robot vacuum that had no mapping ability at all.
It deals with wooden floors really well, medium loose pile rugs pretty well but gets stuck every so often however will alert you with its voice function and phone notification, but this could be improved by the vacuum remembering problem places and marking them with a red dot/marker so they could be avoided while cleaning.
Battery life is excellent, getting 124 minutes on one clean, and the ability to have 4 different type of suction, with BoostIQ dynamically changing the suction required for different floor types it encounters.
There was a Firmware update recently, one of the fixes was to stop it from getting stuck which helped a little more, but it still got stuck in roughly the same areas (on the rugs) and still didn’t mark the map areas where it did get stuck so it will blindly continue to try to clean problem areas.
Autohome charging is a little clumsy too, it just bumbles around bumping into furniture and walls until it manages to find its way home. It seems to not use the map because if it would follow the map it had created it would be back at the charger in seconds rather than minutes.
I am in contact with Eufy support about the what the Dynamic Mapping is mean to do over and above their earlier models and so far, from their responses, it seems almost nothing, it’s a gimmick rather than a navigation tool for the vacuum, the ability to see a map in the application.
There’s plenty to like about this vacuum, small, decent size dirt storage container, really quiet, great battery life, good app with the ability to spot clean and change the suction type, ability to look at the map, good power for the vacuum, and see where the device is, but don’t believe the Dynamic mapping makes it very smart, in fact I’d go so far as to say it’s almost useless.
Smart mapping was a big reason for my purchase hence only a 3 star review.
Update: the firmware update seems to have made the device much worse. It now won’t travel in a straight line, it goes across the room at a slight angle and maps room edges in the map incorrectly as a result. It now also always get stuck in the black sections of the multicoloured rugs we have, seemingly like the sensors don’t know where it is, and gives a device error 6, device is trapped or stuck message. Again I have reported this to Eufy support who have forwarded this information to their product people. Subsequently, I have amended my rating to two star because now I cannot rely on it not to get stuck when using a cleaning schedule, which is particularly frustrating when it gets stuck over and over again in the same place it got stuck in before.
Update 2: 5/08/20
This is the second attempt at an update as the first seemed to disappear.
I’ve been in constant discussion with Eufy, who have been absolutely first class support wise.
They’ve worked with me to try to get an acceptable resolution and I can say they’ve gone absolve and beyond what I expected.
The crux of the problem for me is the navigation and the issue of stopping on small, dark sections of a multicoloured rug.
The mapping, I don’t think there is anything Eufy can do with this model. The L70 has a far more comprehensive mapping capability, but is more expensive. However the cleaning on the G70 is just as good as the L70 on that front, and cleaning is excellent on both models. In summary, if your expecting an intelligent, customisable mapping experience from this model, then you’ll be disappointed, and maybe the L70 should be looked at.
The black section issue Eufy have given me a workaround to, if not perfect. By covering the sensors on the front and side of the device it will happily clean these rugs (picture shown of rug pattern) without issue. It no longer thinks it’s stuck and does a great job. However, this is only good if the device can be used in an environment where a drop is not possible. It would be great if Eufy could enable this ability in software and firmware rather than me covering the sensors in tape, and if it realised that if it got into that area it could retrace it’s steps to get back to a previously safe area.
Eufy have taken all my suggestions on board and are going to put them forward to the product teams, but I can’t reiterate enough how fantastic their support have been. Reminds me of how Amazon used to be a few years ago.
I am amending my review again, however I am going to clarify it by saying it gets an extra star just for the amazing support Eufy have given which should be taken into consideration when purchasing a product. 3 stars for the Product and the extra star for the support, whom I would give 5 stars alone if I could.
